This is my favorite hot chicken place in Houston. I've had their chicken sandwich, tenders, and thigh/drumsticks. They're all great but my favorite is the two piece thigh and drum. I get it cluckin hot but honestly could probably go for the spiciest. I get the sense they toned down their spice level to cater to the broader mass which I think is a shame. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened. I was a little skeptical when I saw the reviews. I had a great experience and great food. Everything was seasoned well and the chicken very crispy, food came out hot with a nice kick to it. Inside was clean and servers were friendly. I for sure would come back, only suggestion I have for the joint is the fries. Those string potatoes were not it . Not going to take away a star though, always room for improvement. I wanted to love this place. With all the options of fried chicken and sides and desserts and even drinks, it should be set up for any easy high five stars. But after giving it a 2nd try, it just doesn't hold up. Side note: we have been on a mission to find the best all around fried chicken sandwiche. This was not it. Today was our 2nd try and 2nd location for Tumble (1st was in Austin). We ordered ahead and picked up through drive through. It took way longer than the estimated 10 minutes the app said it would be ready by. The food came cold without napkins or forks for the sides. We order the O.G. and Southern Sandwiches in Hot with fries and greens. We love spice but there just isn't much else going on here. The heat dominates. The sandwich toppings just don't elevate the chicken at all. The fries were fine but nothing special. Greens were good but probably would have been better eaten while hot. I am not interested in giving it another try, especially since the sandwiches are between $9 and $11 without any sides or drinks included. read more

I was disappointed with my first experience at Tumble22. I ordered The OG, French fries and a cup of water through their drive through. I received everything timely and the person who I spoke with was nice and friendly. My issue began with the food I was given. The order slip attached to my bag was correct, however, the co tents inside were two salads with one chicken tender each. I was already back home when I noticed so I didn't take it back. I hope this issue is more of a one off and not a symptom of ongoing quality control problems. If anybody goes there, check your order while there so that you don't have the same experience as I. I got a large cobb salad with hot chicken. It wasn't spicy which I was happy about. I got the second level of spice and glad I did. I bet when you get past hot it gets pretty spicy. The salad was huge and delicious! I ordered a side of mac and cheese for my son and it was creamy and yummy. They were super sweet and it's just a short wait for the drive thru. Let me preface this review by stating the 3 star rating has nothing to do with the food, but more so the customer service today. A few weeks ago, I was a recipient of a promotional gift from social media on Instagram. I received a promo code for a "Chicken Picnic," and instructed to present code when redeeming gift. The manager at the Vintage Park location stated she couldn't honor the promotion because it's only available on Mondays & Tuesdays. Unfortunately, I had no prior knowledge nor informed the promotion is only redeemable on those days, otherwise I wouldn't have driven to the location. I'd already driven there so may as well spend the money and order food. I ordered a 6 piece meal totaling over $25. This food isn't the cheapest, but I enjoy it. I get home, discovered they gave me a 4 piece meal instead of the 6 piece I paid for. Called restaurant, manager apologized, offered to give me two more pieces of chicken if I drove back to the restaurant (not gonna happen). This was not an option!!! I was home and in the process of plating the food for my family. She offered a refund for two pieces of chicken, which I found highly offensive, so I declined. In my opinion, the reasonable thing would be to offer a two piece meal if I was in the area again. Being I paid for a product not received, it would've been nice to start there. Customer service is just as valuable as food quality. When your prices sit at upper echelon in the market, your customer service needs to be on point! Went here a recommendation from a friend and really enjoyed it! I ordered the Cobb Salad and it did not disappoint, I love a large salad and this one was so big I wasn't able to finish it! We ordered Dirty Fries for the table and if you cheesy fries, you'll want to try them! The hot chicken on top had just the right amount of spiciness to have a kick but not be overwhelming for someone that doesn't typically eat spicy food. My husband ordered the Southern and enjoyed it, although he said next time he would get the Cluckin Hot instead of the Stupid Hot, as the stupid was a touch too overpowering. Awesome hot chicken spot! This place used to be PDQ which I very much miss :( Walked in and they seat you at a table like a normal restaurant. Pretty covid friendly. It's very spacious. I ordered the 3 piece tenders at "Mo Hot" spice level and it was waaaay too hot for me. I usually like spicy things and I chose the third level out of 6 levels which was a mistake! Lol. I've had howlin ray in Cali and ricky's in Dallas. This is crazy, but this one beats them both. I really enjoyed the spicy chicken sandwich. I got the clucking spice? The second to the spiciest one. The flavor was well done along with the batter of the chicken. Reminds me of Dallas Mike's chicken; They have the best fried chicken. Did I mention they have a drive thru??! Normally the spicier I get, the saltier it gets. But I was surprised that was not the case here. The price point was very reasonable as well. I got the OG and it was huge! I definitely will be splitting it with my husband next time and just add on extra sides. As for the spice level here... it lacks spice. It was not as spicy as I thought it was going to be. It's hot Cheeto hot. The temperature heat of the chicken does enhance the spice, but wish it was a bit spicier. Still really enjoyed it. Would totally come back and try their chicken thighs.
