The OG sandwich aka the ruler of chicken sandwiches has showed up with a bang! I ordered one of these delectables and was thoroughly impressed. You have the option to choose how hot you want your sandwich. And the cool part? They don't just throw some sauce on it and call it hot. The heat is dictated by how they cook it. When can I go back?! This Austin establishment finally made it to Houston, and I am extremely happy about it. Extremely happy. I went with the Mo Hot Lil Chicken Sandwich with mac & cheese. Its a small sandwich but its perfect. The sandwich was packed with flavor and I personally could feel the burn around my mouth. To be honest, I am a wimp when it comes to spicy food, so next time- yes there will be a next time- I am going to go with the hot spice level. My favorite mac&cheese is from CFA, but after having it here, its a really close tie. Only bad thing about this item was that you have to eat it while its hot. Once its cold its get very clumpy. I would say the chicken sandwich at Tumble 22 was a solid 4 star entree, and the value (& dessert) brought it up to 5! My friend & I both ordered the regular (small) sized crispy sandwich, and I chose the "Dang Hot" spice level (& removed the pickles). The chicken was super crispy, the bread was fresh, and the coleslaw and mayo were great additions. My only complaint was that I wish the chicken itself had a bit more seasoning. When it comes to hot chicken, my all time favorite spots usually have a bit more flavor. I thought this spice level was about a medium or slightly less than that, so I might go up one more next time. We also shared mac & cheese, which was about average, and fries, which I really enjoyed. They were super thin and crispy. For dessert, we had the pecan chocolate toffee pie. I am not usually a huge pecan pie person, and I can honestly say this is the best one I've had. The chocolate went with the pecan flavor perfectly! When comparing Tumble 22 to other hot chicken places, the value is hard to beat. The smaller sandwich, which is still decently sized, is only $5.95. This was my first time here and he went out of his way to explain and answer all of my questions. Thanks Robert! Food: I got the 3 Pc white. Two wings and a breast. Let me tell you one thing. The chicken is huge! I could probably get full off a 2 Pc. The sides were amazing. Probably some of the best Mac n cheese I've ever had in my life lol. The potato salad was good too. This chicken was super filling! Juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside. Not too spicy, but enough flavor to taste the different spices for each flavor. The fact that they have a "dirty Mac" defeats any competing hot chicken places, it's amazing. Some parts of the tender I could taste the heat, the other parts tasted plain. I've had other places in the houston area that serve similar, and I just wasn't impressed with the tenders here. So disappointed!!!!! This is my go to place for some good fried chicken. Went on 1/17/24 around 6 pm, after fasting all day, from 6 am to 6 pm (no food). Tried this place out while I was in town for business. I told them I hadn't been there before so they let me mix and match spiciness levels in my order and it's no joke. I was curious about the habanero so I got one and it was intense. It had me sweating but I could still taste the chicken under the heat and it was very good.
