Tulum OC had been on our radar for a while, so I brought my girlfriend here to celebrate Mother's Day (apologies for the late review). You can make a reservation on Yelp. The parking lot around the restaurant is pretty small, but they appear to share the entire lot with the motel. It was pretty full on Mother's Day as you might expect. I didn't see a "hotel guests parking only" sign by any of the motel spots, so I parked in one of them with no issues. YMMV. Even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait about twenty minutes for a booth. It's Mother's Day, so it's understandable and they were packed. The restaurant feels roomy with its high ceilings, and is decorated nicely. They have a photo op wall with greenery and a neon sign. There was Mexican music playing at a moderate volume. We were greeted at our table in a timely manner, and were served complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was excellent and unique. It was a spicy creamy avocado salsa, and our server said it also had cilantro and squash in it. Unfortunately, the chips were mediocre at best, and a little stale. We ordered the guacamole ($16) which was tasty, but it came with more of the same bad stale chips. We also ordered the crab stuffed jalapenos ($18). The plate comes with four and they are bacon wrapped, topped with queso fresco cheese, and served with a cilantro ranch sauce. They were cooked well, but had a very fishy smell after taking a bite. I wouldn't order these again. We wanted to order the margarita flight, but they said they weren't offering it on Mother's Day. Instead, I had the tamarindo margarita (house-made tamarindo, no other ingredients listed, $16). It was good, but mostly tasted like a regular margarita. I've only had a few cocktails containing tamarind, so maybe the flavor was lost on me. She had the smoked pineapple margarita (natural pineapple, no other ingredients listed, $16). The menu says it is prepared table-side with a rosemary-smoked glass and a special ice cube, but it just came to the table like a regular drink. Again, they said no show since its Mother's Day and they're too busy. However, it was an excellent margarita, probably the best pineapple margarita we've tasted. It was obviously made with freshly juiced pineapple, and had a light smokiness on the finish. She just had the potato taquitos ($14) for her entrée. She enjoyed them, but they arrived barely warm. The plate also came with a green salsa, not the salsa roja listed on the menu. I had the lobster enchiladas ($26), but they didn't arrive until 15 minutes after her taquitos. They did have a good amount of lobster inside, but the sauce was extremely rich and too heavy for my taste. I would not order them again. Service was ok, they were very busy. We were sitting next to each other on one side of a booth. There was a strange moment when our server kneeled half way across the other side of our booth to talk to another table which was pretty intrusive and honestly a bit of a WTF moment. I hate leaving bad reviews, but there's no way to sugar coat this one. We won't be returning.

Fun atmosphere and unique food! Came here on a Friday evening for dinner. We made reservations just in case they were busy. It wasn't overly crowded but the reservations were a good idea. Service was wonderful except for one hiccup with the bill. They charged us for the wrong table, but when pointed out they fixed it, albeit a bit slowly. The wait staff were all very friendly however and on top of the service. Pedro especially deserves a shoutout for all the help! We started with a margarita flight, you get to choose 4 flavors to try. They were all good but mango was my favorite for sure. The crab filled jalapeño poppers were delicious and different. Their sopa Azteca was absolutely delicious, like a thick, creamy, spicy tortilla soup. Worth a try. I got the cochinita pibil which was like carnitas, it was very good. The wife got the beef birria plate which was so flavorful. Their rice is so fluffy I couldn't get enough. We had enough left over for another meal or two. I'd definitely come back to try some other dishes, especially some of their steaks.

Came here for dinner with some friends and we ordered a variety of dishes. The service here was very quick and they refilled our drinks many times without us asking. I ordered the cochinita pibil, and they were nice to give me an extra serving of rice instead of beans. The plate also came with tortillas. The pork was very soft and juicy! It was very flavorful and it came with a lot of pork. We enjoyed our meal and had a nice time.

Nice interior that somewhat channels Tulum vibes. For a Friday night it was pretty easy to get a table. Don't think a rsvp was necessary. There's open parking which was easy. As for service, it was a bit odd. When asked if there were any nonalcoholic beverages, the waitress looked shocked and said: it's not worth ordering. Because I was in medication I told her I can't have anything with alcohol and then she proceeded to suggest a mojito (not sure why that wasn't the answer when first asked). Outside of that the potato taquitos were decent and I enjoyed the lobster enchiladas. My friend ordered the margarita flight and said all the drinks didn't taste good, and didn't end up finishing the flight. I think this place is worth trying to form your own opinion, and prices were generous. I just don't think it's my go to for Mexican cuisine.

I recently had dinner at a this Mexican restaurant that absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The decor was vibrant without feeling over-the-top, beautiful hanging lanterns that gave the whole space a cozy, authentic feel. It felt like stepping into a lively cantina, but with a modern, polished touch, but more classy. The service was just as impressive as the setting. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel welcome right away. Our server was attentive without hovering, quick with recommendations, and clearly passionate about the menu. The food itself was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care--from the perfectly seasoned tacos to the rich, house-made salsas. Every bite tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for a place with fantastic Mexican cuisine, standout service, and a fun, stylish atmosphere, this spot is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back to try more dishes.

I felt so bad for the server who was solo for an hour with no help and 4-5 tables, but she did FANTASTIC!! The food was just ok though, the steak was overcooked, ordered medium rare, received medium well - yikes. The mole was so good!! Used that instead of the red sauce on chilaquiles, but the eggs were still too (white) runny, should've ordered scrambled eggs It was an ok first visit, doubt we'll be back Decore and photo ops are plenty!!

Service was good unfortunately food wasn't that good. I was expecting so much more drove , out here from Corona. Waste of time waste of gas place as potential. They need to step up the game with better flavor with their dishes. I've been to Tulum a number of times, and this restaurant puts them to shame on the flavor of their food. There aguas frescas, were probably the worst I've ever had.

Came here at 6 pm on a Friday when it wasn't busy. It did get busier later in the evening. This place is aesthetically cute with fake vines hanging on the light fixtures. We got complimentary chips with a spicy green salsa. We ordered the salmon and lobster enchiladas. The lobster enchiladas were fine. I wasn't impressed by them much. I felt that they lacked seasoning. However, the salmon was incredible. Loved the cooked veggies that came with it: peppers, onions, zucchinis. I think the mashed potatoes had garlic seasoning and were addicting. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It was mixed with some sort of lobster cream sauce and balsamic sauce. The combination of flavors was deliciously unique. The service we received was incredible. Lauren was welcoming and fun. Loved her vibe.

First time trying cochinita pibil, pretty good

The decor is what brought us in. We were looking for something that was centralized for our family that was coming from all different directions. I found this on yelp and loved the decor pics. The fajitas were super good, our favorite. We can't compare the cochinita pibil as it was our first time trying but we thought it was pretty good. I also tried the sopa azteca but it was so spicy for me. Appetizer tacos were super yummy! Overall, we had a great time and the service was great! We went on a Friday night and were seated right away.

The Lunch Bunch crew, better known as the Hungry Circle met at Tulum OC last Friday. 1pm on a weekday, we had the choice of seats. Luis, maître de & server was very pleasant and accommodating. He would get 5 stars if I could. For as much as we ordered it came out very quickly. It was unfortunate that none of us enjoyed the Aguachiles as the shrimp was not thoroughly cleaned. The Birria Plate was a bit cold and needed more seasoning. The crab enchiladas were okay, but I really couldn't taste the crab. Cochiniata Pibil (pork) was delicious along with the lobster enchilada (good deal of lobster) the sauce was a bit heavy for me. Now the Fajitas...shrimp, chicken, steak was excellent. The steak was melt in your mouth and with all the food we wanted to try, I had some for lunch the next day. Would I return, probably not as in my mind it's a bit over priced. Was it worth it, yes...but we have many more restaurants to try with our crew! See you next time

Wow! I've never been to Tulum, Mexico but I'm pretty sure the ambiance at this restaurant embodies the tasty foodie aspect and accommodating atmosphere. They even have karaoke Friday & Saturday nights in their larger back room! The Spanish aunties & uncles were crooning classic rock tunes, according to my friend. Dance party included =) Jinneth was our lovely waitress and she treated us like family. She was friendly and so genuine. She noticed my friend's phone battery had died and she offered to charge it. Drinks: *White Sangria *Strawberry Margarita *Strawberry Mexican Mule Eats: *Complimentary Chips & two different salsa: rojo y aguacate (avocado) caliente *Choriqueso-- chorizo queso dip with amazing flour tortillas! *Fajita Mar y Tierra *Lobster Enchiladas *Cheese Chile Relleno *Asada Tacos I've been relearning Spanish via Duolingo and Jinneth must've thought I spoke fluently after ordering the fajitas lol! She asked how I wanted the steak cooked. Medium well for me and the grilled trio of chicken, steak, and shrimp comes with fluffy arroz, frijoles, y tortillas de maiz (rice, beans, corn tortillas). So much yum! There's cream sauce under the shrimp. Plump shrimp with just the tail shell on, easy to eat. Choriqueso was so good hot with the yummiest flour tortillas! Seemed housemade and had the perfect chew. My friend was so excited to get the chile relleno and luckily got the last order of the night! Drinks were sweet and refreshing. I'll have to get a mule or mojito next time. Everything looked absolutely amazing and tasted even better! Beautiful ambiance with warm mood lighting and Boheme-style wicker lamps. The tv monitor above the front entrance rotates between vibrant visuals of the Mexican ocean. So serene and relaxing. Take a look out the window for nightly firework views from Disneyland!

I walked inside hoping to ask if they offer a to-go option. We had left Disney and were looking for a good meal to-go as we live in Corona. I waited about 10 minutes and no one helped me. There was no one at the front hosting. I only saw a waitress serving food and individual cleaning. I got tired of waiting and left. The food looked very appetizing per pictures other people have posted, but sadly I went home empty handed. I left a 3 star because it's a cute place but the fact that there was no hostess was a bummer. read more

WATCH HOW THEY CHARGE YOUR CHECK! Just went for Mother's Day. They included gratuity in the total cost without an option for how much percentage we wanted to give, which we then are taxed on instead of a service fee. our fault, we should have disputed it at the moment. Just watch how you're charged. Staff was friendly, Food was maybe 6/10. Chips were oily, Tortillas were packaged, seasoning on food was light, alcoholic drinks were weak. The best bang for your buck is the side order of steak. The ambience isn't bad, just the temperature of the room was a little high. If you like this menu but want something that delivers on flavor and has home made tortillas, Casa De Cocinero in La Mirada is it. They also have an incredibly flavorful molcajete. (The more you know). read more

Visited Tulum OC this weekend and was disappointed to find out that they no longer serve their amazing Mexican rice. Also the lobster enchiladas were extremely salty when it the past they were perfection. Unless they go back to their original recipes I don't intend on going back or recommending this place to anyone. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. This local restaurant has a fresh new and relaxing indoor decor, and a great menu ! We live near by and finally stopped in for dinner and were very happy with the experience. The food was overpriced for what it was. The waiters seemed to be in a bad mood. The service and food is better at Supermex. The food is presented well, but lacks in flavor. Went to this place over the weekend as I came across it on social media thought to give it a try. We came with a fairly large party they were very accommodating and the service was very good. Our host Pedro did an amazing job with our party. The food was very good everyone enjoyed it. The drinks are well made too. The sauces and salsa they gave with the chips were really good. We live around the corner and stopped by to try out Tulum as they just opened and wow we were blown away! The food was so high quality and delicious. I ordered the birria and it was so flavorful and tender. Our server Leonardo was great, as well as the owner Roberto. Also shoutout to Rene, my pineapple margarita was amazing. Absolutely a gem! Fantastic menu and execution. Very, very authentic!!! This is the food you get in Tulum area. Very different from the normal "Mexican" cookie cutter restaurants that are all too similar. Drinks are great. Bottomless mimosas on the weekends. Chips homemade. Bone Marrow! Lobster Enchiladas! This place is gourmet! I can't believe I stumbled upon this restaurant. This place will soon be the new "it" spot. I wish I lived locally. I will be back! (Yes, I ate here a few times! The food here was excellent you get a taste of every part of Mexico my waiter Leonardo was very helpful. Let us know that it was a soft opening and that they're going to put the menu on Yelp so when people go and look for good Mexican food. This is a place to come, the ambience there was great. It was quiet for soft opening. I can't wait to see what it's gonna be when they have regular night. The margaritas were very tasteful. I had the strawberry margarita and it was great. My coworker had the cilantro, cucumber, margarita, and it was tasty to her so when it comes on Yelp, make sure you guys come and eat the I food here it's very good. read more

We always have passed by and always said we will go and check it out. Well yesterday was the day we did! Last minute we checked and they had reservations for 8 pm. We got there and were seated right away. Pedro was our server and he went above and beyond! Made sure we enjoyed our food and drinks and despite being one of the last guest we did not feel rushed! The food was delicious! We had the potato taquitos, emboladas, and the mar y tierra fajita along with a Tulum margarita flights. The food was presented very nicely and had great flavor! We visited Tulum during its soft opening and had a mixed experience. Starting with the positives, the drinks were fantastic! I had the strawberry margarita, and my fiancé got the raspberry margarita. Both were refreshing, well-balanced, and highly recommendable. However, the food left us with mixed feelings. As a Mexican who has tried many ceviches, I was excited to try theirs. While the flavor was good, the octopus chunks were extremely chewy and larger than ideal. One piece even felt grainy, as if it hadn't been washed properly. My fiancé had two tacos--chorizo and carnitas. The chorizo had great flavor, but I'd suggest smaller tortillas for the double-layer style. The carnitas were also flavorful but served in chunks that were a bit too large for tacos. Now, about the beans--are they meant to be frijoles puercos or borrachos? The addition of hot dog slices (wienies) was unexpected and didn't quite work. On the other hand, the rice was good but could benefit from some adjustments. I respect the effort that goes into opening a new restaurant, and Tulum shows promise. I would return to try more of the menu and support their growth. Can't say enough wonderful things about this little gem. Came here on a weeknight to celebrate my birthday with a couple friends. We had great service, drinks and shared the Padilla Tulum . There was great portions and the food was very tasty. My favorite part was the Carnitas ...I will definitely be coming back to try their brunch. read more

We have been waiting for this place to open since we notice the work they started doing on the building a few months back and found out it was going to be Mexican Cuisine. What a turn out compared to what it was!! We decided to check it out this past Sunday for brunch, since their IG story promoted Bottomless Mimosas at $20 bucks with the purchase of an entrée! (Who doesn't love a bottomless mimosa place and at that price!) We were greeted by Rene (the manager) who let us choose our table. Right away Leonardo showed up and introduced himself as our waiter. Very polite and on point with everything. We each ordered the bottomless mimosas and were happy to see that they are not premixed! They bring it to your table chilled in a champagne bucket, and the bottles just kept coming! 10/10! We ordered the "Birriaquiles" which were so savory and just the right amount Also the Montecristo sandwich which was heaven in my mouth! Delicious We order the chocolate chip pancakes (for the 8 yr old) that was with us and nothing was left on his plate! Over all, we were very happy with this place and let's not forget the ambiance, from the decor to the lighting and the music, it was definitely a Tulum vibe! I recently dined at Tulum in Anaheiml, and I couldn't have been happier with my experience! From the moment we walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel right at home. We started off with the guacamole and chips, which was fresh and perfectly seasoned. For my main dish, I ordered the Cecina tacos, and they were incredible! The meat was tender and flavorful, paired with homemade tortillas and fresh toppings. My friend had the lobster enchiladas, and she raved about the rich, savory sauce. The drink menu was also impressive. I tried their signature margarita, which was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Also the Margaritas is Organics. Wowwwwwwww. The service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food we received. My wife and I stopped in for lunch recently, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. I ordered my steak medium, but it was served overly well done. While I chose not to send it back, it was clearly not prepared as requested. My wife ordered the Tulum Breakfast Plate, and it arrived without the sausage. When we brought this to the server's attention, he told us he was already aware. It was concerning that this was never communicated to us beforehand. Instead, he brought bacon to the table without asking if that substitution would be acceptable. When we explained she did not want additional bacon, he simply took it back without offering any further solution. The lack of communication and overall service left a poor impression, and the food quality did not make up for it. Based on this visit, we would not return. read more

I visited this restaurant for the first time, and it was quite appealing both outside and inside. The waitress was friendly, and I ordered the chilaquiles verdes de lengua. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn for the worse when I discovered a mosquito-like insect in my dish while eating. Given my sensitive stomach, this was especially distressing. I immediately informed the waitress, who apologized and explained that they've been dealing with mosquito issues due to the real plants inside. She offered to remake my dish, but by then, my appetite was gone. Additionally, I noticed a 30% discount on the receipt, yet they still charged me for the food with the mosquito that I couldn't eat, which I find very unprofessional for a high-end restaurant. The ambience is absolutely beautiful--chic, cozy, and perfect for a brunch outing. We started with the watermelon margarita, which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. I ordered the Tamarindo Margarita and was incredibly disappointed -- it tasted more like gasoline than anything resembling tamarindo. Not a hint of the flavor it was supposed to have. I had the Sopa Azteca, which had decent flavor overall, but the queso in it was rubbery and unpleasant. My husband ordered the Tierra y Mar fajitas, and they were completely bland -- no seasoning, no flavor, just disappointing. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, and now I understand why. Gave the location 4 stars, since it does seem like there are a few things they still need to figure out to. Fairly new open (with the last 4 months). The guava French toast is pure excess in the best possible way. Sweet, sticky, indulgent, and completely worth ordering. The only disappointment was the Café de Olla. It never quite found the warmth, spice, or depth that makes the drink special. Still, this is a kitchen that knows what it's doing. I had a large group brunch/lunch last Saturday at Poppy+Seed…read more Our reservation was at noon and the establishment does not generally seat the party unless everyone is accounted for. Our group slowly trickled in and P+S allowed us to start seating around 12:40pm. I think they were understanding because, not only was the parking that they share with the Packing District difficult, there was multiple events happening that closed off a good portion of the street nearby. We were seated at the outside table closest to the road. For our table, the pergola provided shade for half of our table which was around 1-3pm. Throughout the visit, we had various servers handling our table with two primarily handling the ordering and checking out process. We noticed that drinks and food took a long time and were sporadic. Some people who ordered cocktails got their drinks first. Two dishes arrived before some people even received their drinks. I chose an OJ and it was one of the last drinks to arrive. Food and drinks were good, but I would say that they're on the pricier side and it is probably due to location. A little outrageous to spend $7 for a glass of apple juice. Other than pricing, it was hard to find any problems with the food/libations. I enjoyed the tarragon chicken sandwich that I ordered. Fries that were an option as a side were crispy and not overly salted. Be warned that some of the portions for food are a lot smaller; most notable was the carbonara and, yes, the $22 avocado toast is just a slice. I think one of the biggest issues that we had was the outside dessert fee. We had a cake with us and were notified by staff of the fee. We were informed that it would be a $5 charge per person which was more than the price of the cake. We had a party of 17 (with two 1yos included) and the server returned and let us know that they'd charge $35 max. We decided to forgo having the cake at Poppy+Seed, but staff was generous enough for us to let us take photos with the cake with a provided candle. What was baffling is that they do not have desserts available outside of their dinner hours. It was also empty at the restaurant by the end of our meal. Overall, Poppy+Seed's interaction with staff was great. Timing on food and drinks were a little wonky, but it was understandable with a large group. The female server that explained their dessert fee policy near the end of our experience was very professional and super polite. As a group experience, I am giving a 2/5 score as the experience was inconvenient in so many ways. I think smaller groups or a couples meal might have a better rating though. Lastly, the parking is no joke and valeting might be the best route. There were cars parked along the side closest to Poppy+Seed that first receive tickets followed by towing during our meal. It may have to be due to the event happening at the time, but there always seems to be an event happening in that general vicinity.
