Tulum OC had been on our radar for a while, so I brought my girlfriend here to celebrate Mother's Day (apologies for the late review). You can make a reservation on Yelp. The parking lot around the restaurant is pretty small, but they appear to share the entire lot with the motel. It was pretty full on Mother's Day as you might expect. I didn't see a "hotel guests parking only" sign by any of the motel spots, so I parked in one of them with no issues. YMMV. Even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait about twenty minutes for a booth. It's Mother's Day, so it's understandable and they were packed. The restaurant feels roomy with its high ceilings, and is decorated nicely. They have a photo op wall with greenery and a neon sign. There was Mexican music playing at a moderate volume. We were greeted at our table in a timely manner, and were served complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was excellent and unique. It was a spicy creamy avocado salsa, and our server said it also had cilantro and squash in it. Unfortunately, the chips were mediocre at best, and a little stale. We ordered the guacamole ($16) which was tasty, but it came with more of the same bad stale chips. We also ordered the crab stuffed jalapenos ($18). The plate comes with four and they are bacon wrapped, topped with queso fresco cheese, and served with a cilantro ranch sauce. They were cooked well, but had a very fishy smell after taking a bite. I wouldn't order these again. We wanted to order the margarita flight, but they said they weren't offering it on Mother's Day. Instead, I had the tamarindo margarita (house-made tamarindo, no other ingredients listed, $16). It was good, but mostly tasted like a regular margarita. I've only had a few cocktails containing tamarind, so maybe the flavor was lost on me. She had the smoked pineapple margarita (natural pineapple, no other ingredients listed, $16). The menu says it is prepared table-side with a rosemary-smoked glass and a special ice cube, but it just came to the table like a regular drink. Again, they said no show since its Mother's Day and they're too busy. However, it was an excellent margarita, probably the best pineapple margarita we've tasted. It was obviously made with freshly juiced pineapple, and had a light smokiness on the finish. She just had the potato taquitos ($14) for her entrée. She enjoyed them, but they arrived barely warm. The plate also came with a green salsa, not the salsa roja listed on the menu. I had the lobster enchiladas ($26), but they didn't arrive until 15 minutes after her taquitos. They did have a good amount of lobster inside, but the sauce was extremely rich and too heavy for my taste. I would not order them again. Service was ok, they were very busy. We were sitting next to each other on one side of a booth. There was a strange moment when our server kneeled half way across the other side of our booth to talk to another table which was pretty intrusive and honestly a bit of a WTF moment. I hate leaving bad reviews, but there's no way to sugar coat this one. We won't be returning.

Fun atmosphere and unique food! Came here on a Friday evening for dinner. We made reservations just in case they were busy. It wasn't overly crowded but the reservations were a good idea. Service was wonderful except for one hiccup with the bill. They charged us for the wrong table, but when pointed out they fixed it, albeit a bit slowly. The wait staff were all very friendly however and on top of the service. Pedro especially deserves a shoutout for all the help! We started with a margarita flight, you get to choose 4 flavors to try. They were all good but mango was my favorite for sure. The crab filled jalapeño poppers were delicious and different. Their sopa Azteca was absolutely delicious, like a thick, creamy, spicy tortilla soup. Worth a try. I got the cochinita pibil which was like carnitas, it was very good. The wife got the beef birria plate which was so flavorful. Their rice is so fluffy I couldn't get enough. We had enough left over for another meal or two. I'd definitely come back to try some other dishes, especially some of their steaks.

Came here for dinner with some friends and we ordered a variety of dishes. The service here was very quick and they refilled our drinks many times without us asking. I ordered the cochinita pibil, and they were nice to give me an extra serving of rice instead of beans. The plate also came with tortillas. The pork was very soft and juicy! It was very flavorful and it came with a lot of pork. We enjoyed our meal and had a nice time.

Nice interior that somewhat channels Tulum vibes. For a Friday night it was pretty easy to get a table. Don't think a rsvp was necessary. There's open parking which was easy. As for service, it was a bit odd. When asked if there were any nonalcoholic beverages, the waitress looked shocked and said: it's not worth ordering. Because I was in medication I told her I can't have anything with alcohol and then she proceeded to suggest a mojito (not sure why that wasn't the answer when first asked). Outside of that the potato taquitos were decent and I enjoyed the lobster enchiladas. My friend ordered the margarita flight and said all the drinks didn't taste good, and didn't end up finishing the flight. I think this place is worth trying to form your own opinion, and prices were generous. I just don't think it's my go to for Mexican cuisine.

I recently had dinner at a this Mexican restaurant that absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The decor was vibrant without feeling over-the-top, beautiful hanging lanterns that gave the whole space a cozy, authentic feel. It felt like stepping into a lively cantina, but with a modern, polished touch, but more classy. The service was just as impressive as the setting. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel welcome right away. Our server was attentive without hovering, quick with recommendations, and clearly passionate about the menu. The food itself was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care--from the perfectly seasoned tacos to the rich, house-made salsas. Every bite tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for a place with fantastic Mexican cuisine, standout service, and a fun, stylish atmosphere, this spot is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back to try more dishes.

I felt so bad for the server who was solo for an hour with no help and 4-5 tables, but she did FANTASTIC!! The food was just ok though, the steak was overcooked, ordered medium rare, received medium well - yikes. The mole was so good!! Used that instead of the red sauce on chilaquiles, but the eggs were still too (white) runny, should've ordered scrambled eggs It was an ok first visit, doubt we'll be back Decore and photo ops are plenty!!

Service was good unfortunately food wasn't that good. I was expecting so much more drove , out here from Corona. Waste of time waste of gas place as potential. They need to step up the game with better flavor with their dishes. I've been to Tulum a number of times, and this restaurant puts them to shame on the flavor of their food. There aguas frescas, were probably the worst I've ever had.

Came here at 6 pm on a Friday when it wasn't busy. It did get busier later in the evening. This place is aesthetically cute with fake vines hanging on the light fixtures. We got complimentary chips with a spicy green salsa. We ordered the salmon and lobster enchiladas. The lobster enchiladas were fine. I wasn't impressed by them much. I felt that they lacked seasoning. However, the salmon was incredible. Loved the cooked veggies that came with it: peppers, onions, zucchinis. I think the mashed potatoes had garlic seasoning and were addicting. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It was mixed with some sort of lobster cream sauce and balsamic sauce. The combination of flavors was deliciously unique. The service we received was incredible. Lauren was welcoming and fun. Loved her vibe.

First time trying cochinita pibil, pretty good

The decor is what brought us in. We were looking for something that was centralized for our family that was coming from all different directions. I found this on yelp and loved the decor pics. The fajitas were super good, our favorite. We can't compare the cochinita pibil as it was our first time trying but we thought it was pretty good. I also tried the sopa azteca but it was so spicy for me. Appetizer tacos were super yummy! Overall, we had a great time and the service was great! We went on a Friday night and were seated right away.

The Lunch Bunch crew, better known as the Hungry Circle met at Tulum OC last Friday. 1pm on a weekday, we had the choice of seats. Luis, maître de & server was very pleasant and accommodating. He would get 5 stars if I could. For as much as we ordered it came out very quickly. It was unfortunate that none of us enjoyed the Aguachiles as the shrimp was not thoroughly cleaned. The Birria Plate was a bit cold and needed more seasoning. The crab enchiladas were okay, but I really couldn't taste the crab. Cochiniata Pibil (pork) was delicious along with the lobster enchilada (good deal of lobster) the sauce was a bit heavy for me. Now the Fajitas...shrimp, chicken, steak was excellent. The steak was melt in your mouth and with all the food we wanted to try, I had some for lunch the next day. Would I return, probably not as in my mind it's a bit over priced. Was it worth it, yes...but we have many more restaurants to try with our crew! See you next time

Wow! I've never been to Tulum, Mexico but I'm pretty sure the ambiance at this restaurant embodies the tasty foodie aspect and accommodating atmosphere. They even have karaoke Friday & Saturday nights in their larger back room! The Spanish aunties & uncles were crooning classic rock tunes, according to my friend. Dance party included =) Jinneth was our lovely waitress and she treated us like family. She was friendly and so genuine. She noticed my friend's phone battery had died and she offered to charge it. Drinks: *White Sangria *Strawberry Margarita *Strawberry Mexican Mule Eats: *Complimentary Chips & two different salsa: rojo y aguacate (avocado) caliente *Choriqueso-- chorizo queso dip with amazing flour tortillas! *Fajita Mar y Tierra *Lobster Enchiladas *Cheese Chile Relleno *Asada Tacos I've been relearning Spanish via Duolingo and Jinneth must've thought I spoke fluently after ordering the fajitas lol! She asked how I wanted the steak cooked. Medium well for me and the grilled trio of chicken, steak, and shrimp comes with fluffy arroz, frijoles, y tortillas de maiz (rice, beans, corn tortillas). So much yum! There's cream sauce under the shrimp. Plump shrimp with just the tail shell on, easy to eat. Choriqueso was so good hot with the yummiest flour tortillas! Seemed housemade and had the perfect chew. My friend was so excited to get the chile relleno and luckily got the last order of the night! Drinks were sweet and refreshing. I'll have to get a mule or mojito next time. Everything looked absolutely amazing and tasted even better! Beautiful ambiance with warm mood lighting and Boheme-style wicker lamps. The tv monitor above the front entrance rotates between vibrant visuals of the Mexican ocean. So serene and relaxing. Take a look out the window for nightly firework views from Disneyland!

Hi everyone My wife wanted to Try this place! We came in and felt very comfy we were met by the manager Rene Super nice we were seated so I ask our server Pedro who was very kind What's popular here he told me the rib eye tacos were his favorite he was right They tasted very good. My wife ordered the Chile relllenothere also were very tasty The Margaritas were very tasty I ordered all flavors yummy my favorite was the pineapple The next visit we are having the tomahawk steak to share everything was great A must try for all thank everyone! read more

Our host Jeanette and our sever Pedro were both amazing! We were quickly greeted and seating by our host Jeanette. Pedro recommend some great options such as the Cowboy steak (AMAZING) that comes along with the $1 wine add-on. Margaritas, wine, and food were delicious. Both Jeanette and Pedro made sure to check on us if we needed anything. Such an amazing food & service. My boyfriend and I will definitely be coming back! read more

This place is a hidden gem! Some friends of ours went here for a birthday party last weekend and highly recommended that we try it. So this evening, my family and I went to Tulum for dinner and we were not disappointed. In fact, we were totally surprised with how awesome the experience was! First off, the ambiance is very cool, simple but posh. The staff were all amazing! Everyone from the host that sat us down, to the bus boys who cleared our plates were so friendly. But our server, Lauren, was AWESOME! She was super friendly and witty and made some great recommendations. And the food was fantastic !!! Lobster enchiladas skirt steak and margaritas !!! But what was most impressive was the price. We have easily spent double at other restaurants for a mediocre meal but Tulum delivered an amazing experience for half the cost. Highly recommend checking this spot out read more

Service was great, the atmosphere is about all it could be without tearing down a 60 plus year old diner's foot print. The salsa was fantastic. I sent an item back as it wasn't executed well, they took it and the replacement off the bill despite my objection. We will be back and they'll be successful because I can see all the care that been put into its opening. read more

Went with a group of friends. Saw it on Instagram and pictures seemed convincing. The decor inside is cute. Food was good but nothing memorable. Some drinks they didn't even have or couldn't make. Not a place I'd put on my list as a must return spot. read more

Delicious breakfast! Tried their al pastor omelet, birria chilaquiles, crepes, and breakfast platter with pancakes. I don't normally like black coffee but they added cinnamon and cane sugar to theirs, and it was very good - didn't need any extra creamer. Will definitely come again to try their lunch menu! Service was fine given that there was only one server at the time we went. Overall, the place was cute and aesthetic inside. read more

Great new spot we just recently found. The food was delicious and had great plating. Everything served had care and purpose. Our server was very helpful and patient since we had a lot of questions on the menu. The margarita flight was tasty (wasn't a huge fan of the spicy raspberry flavor), but a little sweet. Amiable was modern and had fun "dancy" music. Didn't try any dessert because we were so fun, but will for sure will try the molten chocolate cake thing next time. read more

This place is new and very nice, but my issue is when places like this try and position themselves as a cocktail bar, when they only have a beer and wine license. It should be illegal to sell drinks disguised as cocktails when they are made with Soju, or whatever rice wine substitute they are using. It's very misleading. read more

The service here was terrible. Had to ask for my drink 3 times and even then it was the wrong drink. Forget about asking for a refill. Saw the chef more times than the server. Had to ask for beans and rice that came with my entree. Another person in my party asked about the hominy in the menudo and the menudo didn't have any after saying it did. Reviews looked promising, but the service killed it for us. Food was okay, didn't taste authentic compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. Birria was too salty and the tortillas that the menu claimed were "handmade", looked store bought. Drinks are well made and taste good. Ambiance had a good vibe and comfortable seating. read more

My friend and I came here for lunch today. The restaurant was empty. The food was expensive and not a big selection as a typical Mexican restaurant. That should've been a sign to get up and leave but we were starving. The waiter was very nice but he was so slow. Took forever to take our order. I didn't understand why because there was nobody there. The food was ok. I ordered the birria plate. It was literally a bowl of meat and tortillas that cost $22. I'm from the valley and was in aneheim for a concert. I'd choose a hole in the wall Mexican place in the valley any day! read more

Wowww where do I start...... *** Location - visible really close to Disneyland can't get lost. *** Atmosphere- such a peaceful vacation vibe definitely hits Tulum vibe. Extremely clean and welcoming. When I say clean I mean everything ... the tables, the chairs, curtains and specifically the restrooms. **** Food- I ordered the pork belly with guacamole and it was delicious 10/10. I'm Mexican so when I order such traditional food I prefer to have a disappointed outcome yet I was wrong. It's taste is magnificent juicy and with flavor. My husband ordered the Tacos gobernador and same result delicious 10/10. *** Drinks- top notch on their margaritas we tried almost all of them. Strawberry, pineapple, and blackberry. My favorite was blackberry I'm that type of girl that less sweet is better yet honestly the taste on all are to die for. Dessert- cheesecake top with a home made blackberry jelly. I honestly don't like cheesecake because I know the making of it is with lots of egg. When I try a dessert and at the end I can taste the egg I will likely not have anymore. This cheesecake was perfect on the sugar and definitely no egg taste at the end. *** Customer service- I leave this one for last because to me service is the foundation to great success in any business. From the minute we walked in Rafael the owner was warm and welcoming then we were introduced to the other owner Roberto which he had the same welcoming vibe. Angie was also warm and friendly made us feel at home. Our waiter please accept my apology don't remember his name yet I gotta say he made us really feel we were his top priority in everything. He asked over and over how did we like our drinks and if there was something he could do to improve. Honestly the entire teams culture is over delivering in service value with humility and kindness. TULUM TEAM thank you for making my date with my husband feeling as if I was a very special guest. I will definitely go back and try many more things from the menu. Keep up the energetic welcoming culture. Thank you for everything. read more

I'll start by saying the ambiance was great. Beautiful restaurant with great customer service!!! I was a bit disappointed that they had a limited menu for Valentine's Day. I had been looking forward to dinner knowing already what I wanted to order just to find out they didn't have it for that night. Drinks- I ordered a mango mojito but I'm sad to say it was not good at all. Whatever alcohol they used tasted like medicine. I tried to still drink it but I couldn't after 3 sips of it. Waitress was nice enough to take it off my bill. I decided not to order another drink because most of it was tequila which is not my favorite. Bartender came out apologized for the drink and offered me another one on the house. I thought that was really nice. I believe it was a margarita.... it was ok. Food- was good overall. If you like SPICY order the camarones a la diabla. They were spicy to the point I couldn't really enjoy them, and I like spicy food. We also ordered aguachile which was delicious just make sure you ask for tostadas because apparently they don't come with the dish. Which is weird because that's how you eat aguachile. Overall food presentation was good. I will probably come back only if they have full menu to give it another try. read more

Wow! We stumbled across Tulum while on our vacation. So lucky we did. It happened to be their soft opening, which explains why it wasn't crowded but I expect that very soon this place will be PACKED! The food and service were top notch. My 10 year old commented multiple times on how nice the ambiance was too. read more

Tulum offers the most delicious Mexican cuisine. The service is always friendly. The ambiance is beautiful and relaxed. We love coming here for their Parrilla Tulum. Their cafe de olla is the best I have ever tried! Love this place. read more

What could improve? The menu and lack of communication from the start. All margaritas are not organic. There's only two. The menu that I'm going to post was what was given to us. Per the manager he stated they will be received new menus on Thursday. But yet, did not tell us that there was a couple of things off the menu like no salmon or burgers. Mind you this was a soft opening they are not open yet. Beans were very salted. But nonetheless the scenery was nice. It is very aesthetically. read more

First time coming to this restaurant and it was not a pleasant experience.Makes me not wanna come back .Service was okay but just no communication with the servers and (chefs) or cooks . Things were missing and the taste was bland and over salty .A lot of missing food items on the menu that I wanted but weren't available. Due to lack of communication with us .The severs were nice but not professional or apologetic.They did give us a discount of 1 platefor there failures but added on drinks that we did not order .So all in all this place NEEDS ALOT OF WORK !and the Next Level Chef needs to check and verify his plates that he and his team send out because this is unacceptable for the consumer.Not Authentic Mexican Restaurant!!Needs more Mexican dishes . read more

We have been waiting for this place to open since we notice the work they started doing on the building a few months back and found out it was going to be Mexican Cuisine. What a turn out compared to what it was!! We decided to check it out this past Sunday for brunch, since their IG story promoted Bottomless Mimosas at $20 bucks with the purchase of an entrée! (Who doesn't love a bottomless mimosa place and at that price!) We were greeted by Rene (the manager) who let us choose our table. Right away Leonardo showed up and introduced himself as our waiter. Very polite and on point with everything. We each ordered the bottomless mimosas and were happy to see that they are not premixed! They bring it to your table chilled in a champagne bucket, and the bottles just kept coming! 10/10! We ordered the "Birriaquiles" which were so savory and just the right amount Also the Montecristo sandwich which was heaven in my mouth! Delicious We order the chocolate chip pancakes (for the 8 yr old) that was with us and nothing was left on his plate! Over all, we were very happy with this place and let's not forget the ambiance, from the decor to the lighting and the music, it was definitely a Tulum vibe! I recently dined at Tulum in Anaheiml, and I couldn't have been happier with my experience! From the moment we walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel right at home. We started off with the guacamole and chips, which was fresh and perfectly seasoned. For my main dish, I ordered the Cecina tacos, and they were incredible! The meat was tender and flavorful, paired with homemade tortillas and fresh toppings. My friend had the lobster enchiladas, and she raved about the rich, savory sauce. The drink menu was also impressive. I tried their signature margarita, which was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Also the Margaritas is Organics. Wowwwwwwww. The service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food we received. My wife and I stopped in for lunch recently, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. I ordered my steak medium, but it was served overly well done. While I chose not to send it back, it was clearly not prepared as requested. My wife ordered the Tulum Breakfast Plate, and it arrived without the sausage. When we brought this to the server's attention, he told us he was already aware. It was concerning that this was never communicated to us beforehand. Instead, he brought bacon to the table without asking if that substitution would be acceptable. When we explained she did not want additional bacon, he simply took it back without offering any further solution. The lack of communication and overall service left a poor impression, and the food quality did not make up for it. Based on this visit, we would not return. read more

I visited this restaurant for the first time, and it was quite appealing both outside and inside. The waitress was friendly, and I ordered the chilaquiles verdes de lengua. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn for the worse when I discovered a mosquito-like insect in my dish while eating. Given my sensitive stomach, this was especially distressing. I immediately informed the waitress, who apologized and explained that they've been dealing with mosquito issues due to the real plants inside. She offered to remake my dish, but by then, my appetite was gone. Additionally, I noticed a 30% discount on the receipt, yet they still charged me for the food with the mosquito that I couldn't eat, which I find very unprofessional for a high-end restaurant. I had a large group brunch/lunch last Saturday at Poppy+Seed…read more Our reservation was at noon and the establishment does not generally seat the party unless everyone is accounted for. Our group slowly trickled in and P+S allowed us to start seating around 12:40pm. I think they were understanding because, not only was the parking that they share with the Packing District difficult, there was multiple events happening that closed off a good portion of the street nearby. We were seated at the outside table closest to the road. For our table, the pergola provided shade for half of our table which was around 1-3pm. Throughout the visit, we had various servers handling our table with two primarily handling the ordering and checking out process. We noticed that drinks and food took a long time and were sporadic. Some people who ordered cocktails got their drinks first. Two dishes arrived before some people even received their drinks. I chose an OJ and it was one of the last drinks to arrive. Food and drinks were good, but I would say that they're on the pricier side and it is probably due to location. A little outrageous to spend $7 for a glass of apple juice. Other than pricing, it was hard to find any problems with the food/libations. I enjoyed the tarragon chicken sandwich that I ordered. Fries that were an option as a side were crispy and not overly salted. Be warned that some of the portions for food are a lot smaller; most notable was the carbonara and, yes, the $22 avocado toast is just a slice. I think one of the biggest issues that we had was the outside dessert fee. We had a cake with us and were notified by staff of the fee. We were informed that it would be a $5 charge per person which was more than the price of the cake. We had a party of 17 (with two 1yos included) and the server returned and let us know that they'd charge $35 max. We decided to forgo having the cake at Poppy+Seed, but staff was generous enough for us to let us take photos with the cake with a provided candle. What was baffling is that they do not have desserts available outside of their dinner hours. It was also empty at the restaurant by the end of our meal. Overall, Poppy+Seed's interaction with staff was great. Timing on food and drinks were a little wonky, but it was understandable with a large group. The female server that explained their dessert fee policy near the end of our experience was very professional and super polite. As a group experience, I am giving a 2/5 score as the experience was inconvenient in so many ways. I think smaller groups or a couples meal might have a better rating though. Lastly, the parking is no joke and valeting might be the best route. There were cars parked along the side closest to Poppy+Seed that first receive tickets followed by towing during our meal. It may have to be due to the event happening at the time, but there always seems to be an event happening in that general vicinity.
