Loved our 2 dine in meals here. Prices were high because of location and demand (tourist area) but all the meals we enjoyed on 2 different days were excellent. My wife and I spent several days in Rome before our cruise and this was our most disappointing meal. The ambiance was quite nice, situated in Piazza Navona. However, you will be hassled by street sellers throughout your entire meal if you are seated outdoors. My wife really enjoyed the roasted artichoke appetizer. I enjoyed my pizza, but it was light on toppings compared to other pizzas I enjoyed this week. The linguine (the pasta) was extremely mediocre. It tasted more like egg noodles I could eat back in the United States. It tasted nothing like the amazing homemade pasta I had enjoyed all week. Thankfully, the seafood was fresh and delicious! The biggest disappointment was we paid close to double what we paid for very similar meals just 1 or 2 blocks of the Piazza Navona. Our check was 123 Euros for 2 people. The other restaurants were between 60-70 for every meal. I would highly suggest walking a block or two behind the Piazza for a better meal at half the price. read more

This is where we started our food tour - with coffee of course. This place has plenty of outside seating. Even though it was chilly - the sun made it pleasant to be outside plus you could see other tourists going about their day. The coffee here was just okay - we had better coffee at other places. Seating was nice and cozy. I didn't like listening to loud English music while in Roma. Wandering around Palazzo Navona and decided to grab some lunch on the square... I know this is dangerous because these restaurants are often mere tourist traps with poor service and food. But you know the saying: Location, Location, Location. We wanted to enjoy a drink and a bit with a view of the 4 Rivers Fountain. We went to the second place we checked out, mostly because they had a good busker hustling people into the restaurant. That is often not a good indicator of a quality experience. We ordered a couple of beers, bruschetta pomodoro to start. My wife ordered carbonara, and I had Bucatini Amatriciano. When the bruschetta arrived, I instantly worried we had made the wrong choice.... For 6 euro were provided a single piece of toast covered with tomatoes. Those tomatoes were pretty fresh, but the toast was so soaked in oil and tomato juice it was mushy. Fortunately the pasta was better. Much much better! Both pastas were well cooked and the sauces were incredible. The service was not overly attentive, but they were tourist friendly. While there are many better (and less expensive) restaurants in the city, we got what we paid for... the view. read more

Perfect spot for a hungry family. We had a group of ten and they sat us immediately. The view was amazing, the drinks , and food perfecto. I had the 4 cheese gnocchi and my picky eater boys devoured it. My mom had the spinach cannelloni and that was delicious. Many pizzas were had and all wonderful. The spicy sausage on the pizza was just that, spicy!! My son had a ham and cheese calzone. It was full of cheese but the ham was a little too runny for his taste. The servers were prompt and helpful. This restaurant's location is amazing. It is sitting directly facing Novana Square in Rome. They keep their outside seating area cooled with fans and water mist. It is a very pleasant atmosphere to dine at. The staff made the experience nice as well, as they were attentive and helpful when I had questions. The food was okay. It was very pricey, and I felt the food fell slightly short. It was not bad, but is was not quite good either. I had the the smoked salmon pizza and she had penne pasta (both pictured). I think they might be relying heavily on their location to justify the pricing. There are many restaurants in the area, and I would probably try another one first before going back. read more

We sat outside by the fountain... there was a band playing music across... the sun was setting... we were drinking champagne... it was picturesque to say the least! I don't remember the name of our server... but for the most part, they were on top of it! I had the truffle pasta... and oh my... it was really tasted all truffle out... it was a bit too much for me... really heavy cream but it was good... just a bit overwhelmed with the truffle... I guess I'm used to the American ways of just a "dab" of truffle oil... over there... "you want truffle... you got it!" NOT complaining... just wasn't used to it. The parents shared the fresh catch and it was really fresh they said... I forgot most of the items we ordered (insert music: blame it on the alcohol here) but really it was well worth the 200 plus euros that my sis paid... (thanks for that Sis!) (That pasta actually tasted as if it had been cooked days ago.) We waited forever for a bottle of (over-priced) wine and yes, paid 5€ for bottled tap water. Don't go here. This is the worst restaurant to go to in Rome, Italy. Especially if you are a tourist on holiday/vacation. They take advantage of you. The food is good, but it isn't outstanding. You'll find more amazing food for way less of the price. But there are so many more reasons why this is the worst place to eat in Rome. First & foremost, the service was a abrasive & disrespectful. My family went in & the server was very insistent and forceful when leading us to order the most expensive things. My young sister wanted pesto pasta, but he told her quickly & firmly said no without reason, and then insisted she get the truffle pasta or the pasta with salmon. She then proceeded to tell him that she really wants the pesto but he said no again. She then said she'll have the bolognese & he rolled his eyes. Furthermore, he very well pitched the shareable seafood dish that is good for two people. We didn't want that at first, but like what he did to my sister, he kept saying no to us & kept forcing another dish on us. With much forceful insistence which then became annoying and disrespectful, we gave in. Not knowing later on when the bill came, he charge us 99 Euros for that shared plate. (I have more to tell on the scam price later.) He never disclosed to that that was the price...and he was the one who forced that plate on us! It wasn't even good. There was too many hard & long bones in the fish. In addition to his forceful antics, he offered wine with our drink. We all said no thank you A THOUSAND TIMES, but he kept saying over & over again that you can't come to Rome without drinking wine with your meals. He insisted & insisted & insisted...would not let it go no matter how many times we said no til my dad said "fine! give the smallest red wine for one person." The smallest wine is 1/4 the size of the standard size of wine. So this was 187mL. It didn't taste good. My dad didn't like it. He didn't even finish it. We got better tasting wine for that same size at other restaurants in Rome for 7 euros. Guess how much he charged us for that small wine? 55 Euros! That price wasn't on the menu, by the way. He never disclosed it either. He forcefully made us get it because he wouldn't take no for an answer. Lastly, to collectively tie in together the scam pricing, our bill ended up being 215 Euros. But that's not all... When he was insistent & forceful the whole time, it was annoying until it crossed the line of disrespectful. But in all those times, he carried himself as playful & "funny" so it would all seem "less harsh." When he charged us, he was cold, stern, serious, & a different kind of rude. A total 180 degree from how he was originally. With the bill, he said "service cash not included. I get a cash tip." All of our eyes widened. My dad only had one more bill in his wallet. It was a 50 euro bill. As my dad pulls it out, my dad asks "can you break this into two-20s & one-10?" The server quickly *SNATCHES* the 50 euro out of my dad's hand before my dad finishes his question & the server says, "Service cash is 20%." And completely turned away & left us. We were all dumbfounded. My mom, sister, & my mouth dropped in shock when we saw that happen to my dad. My dad in a state of shock was so still for a while. We all were so speechless & in disbelief, we couldn't even collect ourselves right away. But yeah, he walked away, and that was it. This is the worst service we have ever received of all places we have been. The food, once again, was good, but not amazing. Not at all worth it. Rome is filled with AMAZING food that is TO DIE FOR...go somewhere that puts love into their food. Rome is filled with beautiful & simple places that do that. If it's anything we learned, the Italians take pride in their good work. You'll find it everywhere in Rome without having to look far, but I will be one to say, don't go here. This place takes advantage of tourists...and it'll ruin your whole day. You'll come home telling everyone about this experience. Amazing location inside the Piazza Novana. Outdoor seating provides a wonderful view of the historic monuments in the middle of the square. Food was amazing and the staff was more attentive than at most restaurants in Rome. Prices are higher than similar restaurants - as they should be given the location. I really loved the linguine al pesto. I got to taste some of the pasta dishes off other people in my party but I loved mine the most. The other people that raved about their dish got ravioli and coincidentally , I did not get to taste theirs. The texture and taste was amazing. The pasta was just soft enough, giving you substance to chew on. The flavors were harmonious and at the right intensity. Had the veal. It was tough to cut and eat. Italians can do pasta but not too sure about the meats. Tiramisu was sweet and delicious as well. Some in my party commented that it was too sweet. read more
