I'm giving this one star just based on the food - the service was great - but the food sucked. I've been to other Brazilian Steakhouses that charge more, but serve higher quality meats (Fogo and Texas de Brazil). I honestly feel they over charge for the quality of meat, salad bar selection, and amount of meats offered. I felt like I was robbed. Why pay $25 + tip and a drink for a tiny piece of bacon wrapped chicken, or teriyaki steak, that comes around every 30 mins? Meanwhile they have the audacity to serve grilled peppers and pineapple (cheap filler). I left feeling their business model consists of penny pinching; no reinvestment back into the foods and produce they serve. The staff was great, our server was really awesome, and the manager even came by and introduced himself. It's not a staff or service issue - it's a quality control issue. The food is good, but the service can be better. If you are able to eat a lot, the prices for the full churrasco are reasonable. The meats are tasty and so is the grilled pineapple. However, they are a bit stingy with the meat that is brought around by waitstaff. It felt like they didn't come around to our table often, some meats only came to our table once in the entire hour we were there, and each time they did come by, the amount we got was pretty small. It almost felt like they wanted us to get full on drinking water in between. The part that truly annoyed me was that we kept having to wait for more meat to come to our table and a waiter kept pushing the check on us and rushing us out even though we weren't full and were still waiting for more food. read more

Pretty good and popular restaurant. We came on a Friday and it was packed. Service is very good and their salad bar has plenty of variety of choices. Their servings of meat is very consistent considering the amount of people they have to go around to. Price is very reasonable as well. It's Brazilian good and very good quality with lots you can chose from like slices of different types of meats and a nice alcohol selection. I would recommend here to anyone that is hungry that wants to try delicious and authentic Brazilian dishes without going all the way down to South America for that. This is an update to a previous review. Previously, I went to Tucanos to celebrate a job promotion. The food was good but the service left a bit to be desired. I left a rating of 3 stars. I went back to Tucanos recently. I debated about doing 3 stars or 2 stars. Here's why I chose 2 and I'll let you decide if it's fair. I held off a bit to post this to make sure I wasn't being biased in my review. The good: The food is good. The salad bar has a nice selection on both the cold and the hot if you want to take a break from the meat and the pineapple that goes around. The service in many ways was better than I experienced the first time. The bad: I got up after being seated to go to the salad bar and got a salad and a sushi roll. The sushi roll was fairly fishy. It wasn't bad by any means, it was just fishy. The meat started coming around and it was a better experience. At one point I flipped the red/green post to red and got up to check out the hot salad bar. I got bread, rice, and a couple of other things and sat back down to a table that had been cleared and places had been set for two people. I moved one of the plates and started to eat what I got from the salad bar. I flipped my post back to green and someone stopped by and asked if I wanted some of what they had. I think it was chicken. I said yes and asked if I could get another water and asked why my table was cleared. He commented that they must have thought I left. The problem: I never paid. I don't know if they thought I dined and dashed or thought I paid, but apparently you can't get up to use the restroom or the salad bar without your table being cleared. I paid my bill and nobody asked if I wanted any dessert. I went somewhere else for a small dessert. I don't think I'll be back this time. read more

Man I really just do not understand the hype behind Tucanos. It seems like if you put all you can eat in front of somebody from Utah they automatically go crazy for it. The service is fine, ambiance is whatever, nothing that adds but nothing that really takes away stars either. The food is where this place really just falls flat. I love meat as much as the next person but nothing that they gave me was better than something I can cook at home. We visit Tucanos a couple of times a year when we are in town. We switched to going to lunch there when Tucanos raised their prices to $30pp for dinner ($21 for lunch). We just got back from lunch there and overall I have to say that I was very underwhelmed at the least with the Orem location. These are my observations: 1. I'm not sure if the lunch menu is different from the evening menu but the selection was much less limited at lunch. 2. The quality of the food seems to have deteriorated quite a bit. I love getting the hearts of palm as very few places have them but the ones they had today were woody and tasteless. 3. They did away with the lobster bisque! They had a different soup in its place but it wasn't near as good. 4. The selection at the salad bar seemed to be greatly curtailed. No shrimp and there were a number of other items that they have had in the past that were no longer there. 5. The tables and chairs are showing wear. My chair was quite rickety. 6. They have closed in the ends of the restaurant with walls. Makes the place seem smaller not as hopping 7. We had purchased some gift certificates to use for our meal. It took 10 mins to get those applied to the check. Given that I ate probably $2 worth of meat and $2 worth of salad bar items I think that Tucanos made plenty of money on me. On the positive side our host/server was awesome! We'll give them one more chance when we are back in town in June but if that experience isn't any better we will be looking for a new favorite place to eat in Utah. read more

Tucanos has really gone down hill over the past few years. It be price of $25 a person for AYCE isn't a bad deal, but the quality & flavor really make it so you don't want to ever come back. The only item on the menu that is worth anything is the garlic Parmesan steak, but I may just find a copycat recipe & never go to Tucanos ever again. read more

First of all this is a place that is about quantity and that has to be understood before you read this review. That being said they do a lot of things right the service is pretty dang good my wife grabbed a pineapple off from the salad bar and say hey I want to fresh pineapple there is an any out can you hook me up and they did. Kudos to satisfying a customer's unusual wants. One thing we think that would improve the dining situation is have the music a little more pronounced ...it would bring the ceiling down on the noise that is overtly cafeteria-like with abundance of the clinking of plates and loud chatter. read more

So the building is beautiful in itself but when I went and tried the food its hit or miss. When I was I there I got the brazilian stroganoff and there was no meat to be seen and to be frank. It was very bland come to find out they reuse the old meat from the carvery in with the stroganoff and serve it I am a brazilian American I've been to brazil more times than I can count. The stroganoff I can make better at home this was a shame but the carvery was amazing but thats pretty much it. read more

The service was really good with frequent stops by our servers to offer the grilled meat. The green salad portion of the salad bar was good as far as selection of items, it's buffet style, due to self service there was some overflow of one item into another, but for the mass quantity of people there, it could have been way worse. The other side of salad bar, pasta salads etc sucked. The pasta was either under done or over done in the salads and the selection sucked. The best thing about the hot side was the mashed potatoes and fried bananas and there was a very small selection of hot foods. Dessert was excellent. 4 people with dinner and non alcoholic drinks and dessert cost 213.00 which included a 22% tip. Don't believe the website! The food is good but you definitely need a reservation. It says they offer limited reservations and you can join the wait-list on Yelp. The wait-list is rarely open and if you call to join said wait-list at 4:45 they'll tell you no walk-ins and they're booked until 9:30. read more

Not a lot of options in Orem but this place was recommended by our hotel. Compared to other Brazilian steakhouses I've been to, this place was just ok. Most of the meat comes out well done and the salad bar is meh. It's not an authentic steakhouse as they also serve beef stroganoff and Alfredo pasta. Service was really slow. Took forever to get water and when our server took our drink orders, he put other people's nasty, dirty leftover food plates on our table while he took the order. even the couple sitting next to us looked horrified and was disgusted. What made it worse was my drink. I get it, it's Orem, Utah, not Las Vegas, NV but still, I would expect the bartender could do a simple martini. Apparently they didn't know they were supposed to used BRINED olives, not marinated olives picked out of the salad bar. It's seems everyone there was "new" and I guess a waitress slipped during service so the employees were distracted and not focused on the customers. Food and service are always 10/10 when my wife and I go here. This place is a buffet where the people come to you with the food which is awesome and the food is always well cooked and delicious. The only complaints I've ever had is that in the winter the side doors open and it gets COLD cold and that they run out of the crime brûlée stupid fast. The second is more of a nit pick than a real complaint because it's such a good dessert that we just can't get enough of it when we go but man I wish they had enough for a whole night. read more

I've been here several times and usually enjoy myself. A little miscommunication between the cook and server got us some raw meat that last time I was there. They handled it nicely and it ended up just being a bump in the road, not a bridge out problem it could have been. Fun atmosphere and many different kinds of meat and sides. We love this place for authentic Brazilian churrasco--just like they do it in Brazil. It is pricey but comes with a lot of food. We've been to Fogo do Chão in Beverly Hills, which is about the same food, but about triple the price. So this is relatively a steal of a price. The abundance and variety of meats are seasoned just perfectly and mango cod fish is to die for. I also love the bbq chicken. So yum! For holidays like Fathers Day, expect a lot of people and promotional specials. Their pão de queijo is on point. Salad bar is great for people of all taste buds and ages! My only complaint is accessibility. Some of the food is placed up higher shelf, with no thought to how someone in a wheelchair would reach it. Nice clean restaurant and friendly staff. I love Tucanos! The atmosphere here is so fun, the servers are great, and the food is so good! You will leave here very very full, so be prepared! You'll start by going to the salad bar where they have tons of options of food to fill your plate up with. My personal favorites are the mashed potatoes and fried bananas! Don't get too full here though, because this is just the beginning. The waiters then circle the tables, bringing around a large variety of meats. They are really fun and pay attention to each individual's preference for how the meat is cooked. They also bring grilled pineapple and vegetables which is one of my favorite parts! I was slightly disappointed this time coming here that some of the meat was pretty fatty (I could hardly eat the brisket). That's the main reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. It's also really expensive, but I get that high quality meat costs a lot, so it's sort of justified. A few friends and I go every year to celebrate our birthday month and have gone for 11 years straight! We love the food and they have a birthday coupon that gives you a buy one get one free. Unfortunately this time was the last time we will be going and we will need a new place to go. The reason being is that they wouldnt honor the birthday deal because we didnt download the new app in time. We had the app, we had our account pulled up but because we didnt download it 24-48hrs before the visit they wouldnt accept the coupon. Weve been using this coupon for 11 YEARS! We already have accounts, they know who we are in their system but we just didnt download the new app in time (We had downloaded it the night before). I thought for sure they would see that we've been coming here and have been loyal customers, we have accounts but they didn't budge. Lesson learned. We wont be coming here again.
