My husband has eaten at Jim's many times. I have a handful. Today we took my sister and three of our kids. It was about 10:45 am but the kids were able to get breakfast or lunch food. Between us we had a chicken fried steak and eggs, NY Strip and eggs, chili verde breakfast burrito (minus eggs), Belgium waffle combo, and a cheeseburger, and turkey melt. Everyone enjoyed their food for the most part. The wait time was minimal even though they were busy. The food came out fast and while not all of it was right - they fixed the mistakes quickly. According to my husband - Jim's never disappoints. It is decent and consistent. In an area that is low on breakfast options it is a solid choice. My sister gave it 10/10 but she is too free with her 10's. I would say a solid 7.5. read more

We live 2 minutes from here and today was the first time. Lets just say i wish we tried it years ago. The parking lot was packed but I saw previous reviews that said the service is fast and boy were they right. Cynthia our server was so on it, my coffee got to the table not even 3 minutes since we sat down. My drinks never reached half way before it was refilled. Our food came so quick and super good. we had the ribeye with eggs and hash brown served with 2 big pancakes it was yummy and cheap. This place is so good for breakfast! We came on a weekday and were seated right away by a friendly waitress. It was busy but not too busy. The restaurant was clean and had a nice family charm to it - similar to Black Bear but much better food in my opinion. We were asked what we wanted to drink and that came out just a couple minutes after ordering our drinks. The menu was big and there were a lot of options for breakfast and lunch. No matter what you're in the mood for, they have it foe breakfast! Eggs, pancakes, French toast, omelettes, and waffles. It was hard to make a decision but I went with the egg breakfast with pancakes, scrambled eggs (they ask how you want them prepared), hash browns, and bacon. My husband ordered the French toast combo but upgraded to strawberries and whipped cream. The food came out about 15 minutes after we ordered. Wow!!! The portions are huge! Two people could easily share... with that said, the food was delicious. It was fresh and you could feel the love put into it! The hash browns were nice and crisp on the outside, the eggs were fluffy, the bacon had amazing flavor, and the pancakes were fluffy and soft. I loved the butter and the syrup as well! The French toast was like a dessert. It was so good though for anyone who enjoys strawberries and French toast! It almost had a strawberry syrup with it too. We ate here twice for breakfast two mornings in a row while visiting our son. Their breakfast was better than a big chain but still needs a bit of improving or you just need to know what to order. Their hash browns are superior to their home fries (fried potatoes) which are all deep fried. If you're looking for that country fried skillet potatoes these aren't those. The steak in the morning needs considerable seasoning but I was raised part time in Santa Maria CA where bbq'ing is a sport against the best of the best in the southern states. I love soup and salad and Jim's had both. I love the vegetable soup here. And the side salad is fresh, cold, crisp iceberg lettuce, my favorite. I really crave the Greek salad dressing. The parking lot always seems hopping at Jim's so we gave it a try. I tasted everything my family ordered. The scones were the BEST part of the breakfast food that we ordered. So big and fluffy, comes with honey butter, and has me craving more! The Western Omelette was really good. Full of veggies and cheese. The homestyle potatoes that come with it were average, and unfortunately the pancakes on the side seemed over-cooked/dry/dense and not that fluffy or light. Sausage and gravy was just ok. There were slices of link sausage in the gravy, which I felt was odd instead of crumbled sausage. Tasted more like a plain country gravy with sliced sausage and the biscuits were, again, just average. The Strawberry Belgian Waffle was huge and delicious. Plenty of strawberries in their own syrup. We like their chile verde sauce aright; it's not the most amazing, but we're in Utah and can't expect it to taste like NM or Mexico. The pancakes are tall and fluffy, eggs are cooked however you like, even if you like it gooey. Here's something for the savory crowd... I like stuff tasty, but it seems Jim's leans toward less for those who prefer bland flavors then you can add salt & pepper afterward. Service was friendly a little slow on delivery. I was impressed with the chilled metal plate for the fresh salad. I ordered a French Dip and my other half ordered pastrami. They both were just ok. The quality of meat was lower than expected. The hoagie roll tasted a little weird especially when dipped in the Au Jus sauce. You get a lot of fries. Overall the food was rather bland but this does appear to be more of a restaurant that caters to an older crowd. The chicken fried steak was crispy, even crispy under the gravy which is quite a trick. The country gravy had a really good, creamy flavor. Without the notes of onion and rancid oil that you get from some other local restaurants with all-day breakfast. Toast was good & generous. They don't have coke products. Eggs were cooked how I asked for them and were good but not remarkably good. I mean there was nothing wrong with them, but on occasion, you find a place with really outstanding eggs, and this isn't one of them. Hash browns were decent. Not sticky, not microwaved, not burnt. Our waitress was not on her game. We had food but no flatware and resorted to stealing flatware and napkins from an empty table. She apologized for forgetting the toast, said she would go get it, spent a few minutes fiddling with the ticketing computer, then waited on another table. Eventually, someone else brought out our toast. When she asked if we would like refills, we both said yes. She brought us one refill and the check, and was never seen again. read more
