Great experience!! We had a party of 7 and decided to dine here, however, we arrived near closing time. Upon arrival, they were very pleasant and the manager explained that the kitchen was closing in 20 mins. We were told it was not a problem and we just needed place our order fairly quick. We decided to dine in and wasted no time deciding what to order. Our server and the manager were very accommodating and we never felt rushed. Excellent Service!! They have a good size menu and they offer sushi specials during the day. If you decide on ramon, you pick your ramon displayed on a wall and you can create your own, pretty cool idea. Eating it with the tonkatsu broth was great, but I also loved dipping it in the sesame and teriyaki sauce. So many different ways to experience it! The cream cheese wontons were also a hit. The appetizers are included in the all you can eat price, so try them! The big downside to Mr. Shabu is that it's so expensive. I would come back all the time if it weren't for the price. I specifically asked the waitress if they had time for us to sit and enjoy considering it was 9:30 on a Saturday night and she said yes of course. Long story short, we were rushed, rushed, rushed!!! We went to grab add ins for the soup and sat back down and was right away asked to pay?! (We just sat back down to eat) Then not long after was told we had to leave due to closing. We didn't enjoy our food. Could barely eat anything at all and the service was not great. We had a hard time with communication as well. I love coming here. They have a great selection of broths to choose from and cuts of meat. The service is always good and they are very kind. Their appetizers are delicious and they offer a combination plate where it includes a little of all their apps which is nice. Ambiance is good, looks very clean. My only negative is that the restaurant itself smells funky. A lot of places that offer multiple "all-you-can-eat" menus have a policy that the ENTIRE table needs to have the same menu (for example: if one person wants all-you-can-eat hotpot, the entire party can only have the hot pot menu) My husband prefers hot pot and I prefer sushi so I LOVE that if your party is doing the "all-you-can-eat" each person at your table can choose if they want the hotpot menu OR the sushi menu, so everyone is happy! There are negative reviews on Yelp about the sushi/fish quality which is unfortunate! I love these guys! I'm from out of state but find myself in the area a few times a year. Every time I find a way to schedule dinner during the trip. Why? The place is clean, the food is fantastic, the staff are super friendly, and the location is easy. On the food, it truly is a great selection of quality ingredients that you get to add to a broth of your own choosing (including custom mixes). I've been three or four times and have always left very happy. This is not cheap, fast food. You're gonna lay down a little bit of money for your dinner here. Shabu shabu is all you eat, after all. You get endless appetizers and the cream cheese wontons and Korean fried chicken are my favorite. The cucumber salad and rosemary fries are pretty good too. The meats are all quality meats and you can eat a lot of protein if you don't fill up on all the noodles and extras they offer. The "salad" bar is full of fresh veggies, mushrooms, and other additions to your hot pot. If you are nervous about cooking it yourself or cross contamination, don't be. My favorite was the Japanese squash and sweet potato I had the Galbi broth and my favorite meat was the #1. Tried meats 1-3, and narrowed it down to #1 as my fave. Restaurant felt nice and clean and the booths are nice and tall that it feels private. The view of Mt Timp is gorgeous and you get to see it while eating, if you're facing east, of course, and have a window seat on the north side. I had great experiences going to Mr. Shabu before, but this time was terrible. My friends and I did the sushi ayce. The waiter seemed to not know the menu well and kept getting the orders wrong. He gave us tuna instead of yellowtail and wagyu roll instead of nigiri. These are just a couple of examples of all the orders they messed up on. Not only did it take FOREVER for the food to arrive, but they also limited the order to three things every time. What was absolutely ridiculous was that they told us there was a two-hour time limit and wanted to kick us out. I felt robbed of paying the price of ayce when it's not really ayce with slow service and time and order limits. I was so disappointed and will not return for their ayce sushi again. Their hotpot is pretty good, but DO NOT try their sushi all-you-can-eat cuz it's a scam. Every aspect of this experience seemed to have gone wrong. Our orders were frequently messed up, and the amount of food they gave us didn't make sense either. My friend got one order of cream cheese wontons, and they ended up giving us 16 pieces. Pretty sure it's usually 4-6 pieces per order. All of us at the table had to help eat some so that we wouldn't waste food. Not sure if they had the wrong order again or if they were trying to feed us with cheaper food to make us full so that we couldn't eat more sushi. Furthermore, the service was so slow. With hotpot, people can still get ingredients on their own and eat something while waiting for the meat to come. With our sushi orders, each took a long time to be made, and we were limited to three orders each time. We already got a bit impatient waiting, but what was unbelievable was when they said our time was up and wanted us to leave. I hadn't had enough food and this was supposed to be an all-you-can-eat. I've never experienced that in other all-you-can-eat places. We came to celebrate our friend's birthday, but this experience really ruined it, and we regretted our decision to come here.
