I love anything matcha, so hearing Tsujiri opening in Toronto was very exciting! I went at the end of March, and the line was out the door. Waited over half an hour to order, and waited another 10 minutes for our dessert. The service was slow, as the store was still quite new and they had to intricately add different toppings to the dessert. I got the matcha float, and the matcha was amazing!! Definitely no complaints about the taste, the flavour was very rich and creamy. But it was not worth $8, in my opinion. Also, we wanted to sit and enjoy our desserts, but seating was very limited and we were forced to stand outside to eat. Tsujiri left me a bit disappointed. Food was great, but the price, long wait time, and limited seating are reasons why I will probably not be going back. read more

Just been to Tjujiri fort the first time! We had a good dinner not so fr and wanted to end it on a sweet note. First of all. there's only a couple of tables and one traditional chabudai. So expect an in and out type of service. That being said, you get served relatively fast by an efficient and pleasant staff! The menu has a good selection and the price are fairly priced for the quantity and quality of what you will receive. I tried the Chiffon Parfait Macha and was very pleased by it. Came in order a shaved ice and a sundae because it's a hot Friday, people like me working from home had to check their work emails and the store didn't have wifi in the beginning. Have seen a lot of reviews about Tsujiri and today I am getting my first hand experience. Ordered a Matcha Sundae. It is nicely decorated with a few Japan famous items on top of the Sundae. There's a pink Sakura shaped cookie on one side with a white Michu and a yellow chestnut in the other side. The first spoonful of Matcha ice cream is quite refreshing. It does have a strong flavour of Matcha and I like that. It also leads me to associate with the Matcha ice cream I have had at Tendou. Both of them taste similar, strong Matcha taste but not too sweet. Out of my surprise as I keep on digging in the ice cream, there's red beans in the middle of the ice cream, which is another favourite sweet that I like. These two sweets blends very well together. Surprise does not stop there, as I keep on eating, there's roasted rice seated at the bottom of the ice cream. The burnt and roasted flavour of the rice matches perfectly with the ice cream. Even I have finished my whole ice cream, the after taste of the roasted rice left in my mouth. In general, the treat is delicious but it's also pricey. It's $7.50 + tax for a small cup size of Sundae. Although it's very tasty, to me it is more justified to worth about $5.00. That's my 2-cent. read more

Bottom line: has SOME tasty treats but overpriced. I would say only a handful of items here are worth coming back for, and only if I'm really craving it hard enough to spend the money. My favourite is the Tsujiri sundae, but it's definitely only if I feel like splurging for a dessert. I don't get the bad reviews. The hojicha ice cream/frappe is literally the best tasting dessert ever... I just don't get it... It's not the cheapest but I mean, that's something you're just going to have to accept? The desserts aren't as good as the drinks/ice cream, but still decent. The seating is very very limited, but the tatami adds a really nice touch to the place. I also really love how they have pictures for all of their menu items. Visited twice and lucked out both times not having to line up for long. The first time we came during their soft opening so not many people know they were in business already and the second time during a random afternoon. So I'd say if you don't like lining up, you can still beat the line during non-busy hours. The place is small with limited seating so get your ice cream and go! In our first visit, a lot of the items on the menu were not available yet or sold out already so it was very limited. We got the Tsujiri Float with matcha soft-serve and the Shiratama Sundae. The ice in the float quickly separated so it was just syrup on the bottom and ice on top. When they had to make the sundae, there was no more matcha soft-serve left so they offered vanilla with unlimited toppings for free. I basically added all the toppings except for red bean and it strangely came out delicious. For both items though, the soft-serve was quite watery. I guess it was a soft opening so they're still in the process of figuring out things, but the place was too busy for just 2 people making the desserts and one on cashier. They also couldn't communicate in English fluently and looked a little confused. Second visit was must better. Everyone knew what they were doing, and how it was supposed to be done. More staff and better flow. This time we went straight for 2 sundaes. I have to admit, their soft-serve is very flavourful and soft and creamy. We tried the Tsujiri Sundae which we couldn't last time and the Shiratama again along with a matcha cream puff. The consistency for the soft-serve was much better this time and I highly recommend getting the twist. There's something different about their vanilla that makes it so yummy. Lastly, the cream puff was AH-MAY-ZINGG. Potent matcha flavour with a super creamy filling. It was also CASH ONLY during this visit, not sure why. I would most likely come back again but not during those long lines. They definitely live up to the hype, just not worth waiting hours in line! I remember the hype of Tsujiri on Yelp when it first opened about half a year or more ago. I also wanted to try this new tea and desserts place at the time, but I didn't want to wait in line. I got to try it finally, and the experience was a little underwhelming. Matcha sundae was somewhat better tasting than Starbucks Green Tea Frappuchino, because it tasted more real green tea to me than overly sweet, slush-like Green Tea Frapp. Was it worth the higher price? To afford regular visits to Tsujiri, you'll have to take out a second mortgage (or sell a kidney, if you're not a homeowner and probably never will be because you live in downtown Toronto [who's crying, I'm not crying]). But it's my favourite place to treat myself. In the summer time, I live for the Hojicha Ice Blended, Hojicha Float, Yuzu Citron Float, and the sundaes if I'm feeling fancy ($6-9). TIP: If it's not too busy and you're comfortable being barefoot in front of strangers, sit at the chabudai table at the back while you enjoy your tea. It's a great way to rest for a moment before you have to start working overnight shifts to pay off your matcha addiction. read more

Can I just say: wow. The Tsujiri matcha latte and O matcha daifuku are the best I've had in a long time. Such rich, real flavour, it's amazing! It is a little pricy but the quality of that drink and daifuku were worth every penny: the daifuku melted in your mouth and there was cream in the middle! :) However, there's definitely some things on the menu that aren't as good. Best shaved ice in the GTA. Most shaved ice desserts I've had are literally a bowl of plain ice covered in toppings. In which halfway through, all I'm eating is plain ice. Here, they meticulously layer and coat their shaved ice with a matcha syrup. They also add some soft serve in between which makes it a lot more interesting. You'll never look at your cup with disappointment, thinking that all you have left is plain ice not worth eating. Every bite is delicious and worth exploring. read more

People usually come here for the matcha soft serve, and it's pretty good if you like matcha/ green tea. I actually really like their yuzu ice blend. The citrus/ grapefruit taste makes it a really good drink on a hot summer day or after a big meal. It's so refreshing! They do have really good ice cream and stuff, but it is overpriced. It's about $5 for a generous amount of soft-serve. That's more expensive than Salt and Straw, and very famous ice cream chain down here in Portland, Ore. The deserts are still pretty good, though. Don't let the hype of this place or just the whole concept of matcha soft serve take over you. We got there and there was a lineup, and we got the tsujiri sundae. The one with the matcha soft serve, red bean, rice crackers at the bottom, 2 mochi balls and a pink cookie. It did not taste good at all. And this was from the opinion of a group of people. I had shared it with my other friends and we tried every part of this sundae and it was not appetizing at all. The red bean was too sweet, the soft serve was not mesmerizing, the pink cookie thing tasted stale, the mochi balls didn't taste good and the rice cracker bits at the bottom was really bad. Each component of this sundae by itself did not taste good, and when you taste the whole thing (all the components together), you could tell that these ingredients were not a match made in heaven.
