[Review #117] After our linner date, a good friend insisted on treating me to dessert so we wandered around the plaza by Sue's Kitchen, then headed across the street to find T's Boba. The entrance was somewhat confusing... based on the signage, it looks like 2 different storefronts (a restaurant [Peter's Place] on the left & a tea/coffee shop on the right). When you enter, the wall opens up both storefronts. :-| Anyways, I could always get into that... she got an iced green tea for her & a peach icy with boba for me. While we were waiting in line, somehow our conversation segue into Asian language to boba. Then I casually asked J if she knew how boba came out/what it means. The look on her face was hilarious! :-) Our drinks were prepped fast since we were the only customers (it was twilight but nowhere near dinner). The peach icy was a fluffy slushy consistency, not broken/crushed ice like some places, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste. The bobas were overcooked so it was very gummy instead chewy. However, when the bobas were eaten with the icy, it cuts into the sweetness, making it a little more balanced drink. I usually get my boba drinks in Chinatown or SGV when I'm in the neighborhood. T's Boba is magically connected to Peter's Place. Did not realize this until I left and then looked at the sign and paused for a moment and was like oooohhhh..... Today was the first time I ever had a Boba. I have always wanted to try one as I love the giant straws but was always weirded out by the brown squishy bobas that float around in the bottom of your drink. But Tara the great ordered one so I said what the hey I'll live a little today and try something new. So as Tara described the whole boba thing to me I felt safe and that I was about to enjoy something yummy. I saw a Peach flavored one on their menu board so I played it safe and went with a flavor that I knew I would love. We were looking at the menu board on the wall and was just going to order from that but our server friend Teresa brought us out the bible of boba. I couldn't believe all the possibilities. Icy, smoothie, juice, with yogurt, blended or not. It was crazy! So I went with Tara's rec of going the icy way. Bobas came out with big straw attached and was the most intrigued by the cute critter vacuum sealed lid on top. I watched Tara do her boba thing and followed her steps. She gave it a shake shake shake and punched the straw in and enjoyed away. So my first sip was loaded with squishy boba treats. This was the part that made me most nervous about trying a bobas in the first place. But as I continued to chew I realized I loved it! I can not believe that for all these years that I told myself "I wouldn't like" it. Stupid me. But thanks to Tara, I am now a boba fan. Love at first sip. I am reviewing for just the boba alone no food! Living in Torrance I drive by this joint daily and heard little things about this place being around for a while so I thought I would try it. When I went with a few friends they were having a special of buy two get one free so we settled for the Milk tea. Now being a boba fanatic myself, I thought the boba's texture was okay but it had no taste. The milk tea was a bit disappointing because I saw that it was already pre-made and just poured out of a pitcher. The taste was not much better and literally tasted like the bottle of milk tea you can buy at the Marukai supermarket. The staff was polite and efficient, and the special was a good start but the drinks just weren't up to par for me. Yami Teahouse is only 5 minutes from this place, and the quality and taste is much better. Review for Food and Boba Well I found this place because I was lost in the area and fit hungry. Lol it seemed like a mom and pa when I was inside. Inside was very cluttered and had a section for children toys. It was very unorganized. If I had a child I wouldn't have let them play with the toys for they appeared dirty. I orders a Taro milk tea Boba which was extremely gross. They use powder for there flavoring of there boba. In my opinion I prefer syrup instead. Powders are gritty. As for food I had SHRIMP NOODLE SOUP! It was delicious! It was very hot (tempature) it included shrimp, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, and noodles in a brown broth. It was so much food I couldn't finish it all. The host/server gave me tea, but the tea pot it came in appeared to be dirty/rusted as everything else in the place. They had 2 TVs one in English one in Chinese. While I was there I noticed a number of people picking up orders. I recently kicked a pretty unhealthy Starbucks habit. It was pretty awesome. I started losing weight and had way more money in my pockets than usual. BUT, like the addict that I am, Instead of embracing this healthy new caffeine/sugar/lactose-free lifestyle, I, of course, in true Caroline fashion, have found a way to replace my old habit with a fun new one. I guess there must be something inside of me that itches to spend 3-4 bucks a day on a beverage. I'm not complaining, I'd rather that than, say, something like crack, gambling or cigarettes. Anyway...insert the re-discovery of boba milk tea via, the very popular, much loved, Lolicup. Naturally excited to visit the Lolicup that I remember in Torrance, I happily drove up to the corner or PCH and Crenshaw...only to discover it has been replaced by a Daphne's Greek Cafe!!!???! Holding back shakes and tremors, I quickly yelp'd Boba in Torrance and found T's Boba and Boba Loca. Based on aesthetics alone, I chose Boba Loca. It looked nicer and cuter. Cute is pretty huge through the eyes of an Asian girl. Lesson learned: Don't judge a book by it's cover. Boba Loca is useless. Completely useless. Cute: yes. Useless: VERY MUCH a YES. So, the next day, I went to T's. It doesn't look like much from the outside. It's located in, what looks like, a late 60's/early 70's strip mall. When you enter the place, it feels as though you may have been magically beamed into a Chinese cafe IN China. Very authentic...minus daunting odor. Thumbs up for that. It's a restaurant but there is a separate drink bar where boba is created and enjoyed. I ordered Almond milk tea... by way of Yelp review. The boba is perfect...just like the review said it would be. Nice and chewy but not rubbery. The tea was sweet but not too sweet. Perfect. The only thing not perfect was the price. $4.36? It's a frick'n drink, not a combo meal! I guess perfection costs extra. After filling up at GYU Kaku all of us went to T's for boba. T's boba is connected to Peters Chinese restaurant and is in the same place. You enter one and it's the same. We had the Taiwanese style boba slush. I didn't know what that style was but the lady at the counter explained to me that it was the same as regular except made with condensed milk and had boba, lychee jelly and couple of other types of jelly at the bottom. I found it better than regular and everyone else also enjoyed that style. It was really a nice touch for them to go give one of my friends daughter who is 3 a free one without asking or anything. I don't think I'm a very discerning boba drinker. It pretty much all tastes good to me. I always order the same basic thing, almond milk tea, which is pretty hard to mess up. As long as the boba isn't hard, I'm fine. That said, the boba here still had a little something special to it. It had a lovely texture. The drink had more ice than other boba treats I've had, but that actually just made it nice and refreshing. My cousin introduced me to a good boba place in my first months here in CA. The place looked like a music bar and the other side was a Chinese restaurant(?). The main deck counter there focuses on smoothies and boba so I guess this must be their specialty. I tried the taro boba and it was very good. So T's Boba is basically the other half of Peter's Place. Honestly out of my whole meal at Peter's Place, it was the boba that I liked the best. I got the taro smoothie with boba and from the first sip I was already impressed. The taro was nice, soft and very chewable. The taro flavor was just right - not too sweet. Ahhh it was sooo good and I was prepared to give this place five stars......until....the bill came! The boba was for $4.50. I think this is rather a hefty price to pay for cup of boba. It was almost the same price as their lunch special! Sure the cup was big but I've been to other boba places and I've never seen a charge for over $4 for a cup of boba. If we were anywhere in Monterey Park or San Gabriel there would be no way a cup of boba would cost that much :(. It's too bad, the boba is good - delicious and probably one of the best I've had in the South Bay but to have their boba cost as much as their plate of food is in my opinion a bit too much :( read more

I have been coming here proabably since middle school and i have yet to be dissapointed. My favorite is the Taro Slush with boba. Although the prices are a bit expensive, it wouldnt necessarily deter me from going considering drinks at starbucks fare around the same and i dont hear anyone complaining about coffee prices at Starbucks! Love this place for the boba drinks in the South Bay! Boba is just right, not too sweet and a good chewy. My favorite is the strawberry milk tea, but the surprisingly really amazing one is taro icy. If you can't decide, they have a top ten of favorite boba drinks to choose from posted on the wall. That's it, it's just so good. When I went yesterday, I did have to wait like 10 minutes because they were still cooking the boba. But hey fresh cooked boba is not a bad thing. It was a hot day and it was the busiest I had seen them ever so I'm glad. i've been hearing so many great things about the boba at T's. i've since tried it a few times and have been pretty satisfied with my experience. it's an extremely random little place in a strip mall of even more random restaurants and shops. it's a little confusing at first when you walk in because it's not a typical boba place. it's a part of a chinese restaurant so you have to go up to their register to order. there usually isn't anyone at the register so hopefully they see you walk in or you'll have to flag them down in another part of the restaurant. they have a special offer if you buy 2 original milk tea drinks you get the 3rd for free. pretty good deal if you're going in with a group. as long as your group doesn't need variety that is. the milk tea was good and the boba wasn't too hard. the texture wasn't perfectly chewy but it was definitely better than some other places i've been to. i wonder if the chinese food is good... read more

I have loved boba drinks ever since my first one, back in 2002 maybe, and of the many places I have tried, T's Boba definitely makes a mean Almond Milk Tea! Not too sweet, blended just right, and the boba were neither too soft nor too hard (yuck). My new friend Ciara had the Peach Ice with boba, and it was very good as well. My girlfriend and I stopped by T's on a Saturday to get boba as we heard this place made really good boba. We arrive and all the lights are off on the inside; we were the only customers there and the lady behind the counter seemed short and snippy. The place accepts credit cards but the minimum order amount is $20 which is pretty ridiculous, so we had to order a bunch of subpar food in order to use a credit card (which, being out of towners with no cash on hand, sucked). The boba was really good, so the place gets two stars. The lady who took our order went to another lady working behind the counter and complained to her, about us, in Cantonese. Visited LA from Australia and happened to visit T's Boba, and was hoping to get some fresh bubble cup. Unfortunately, to my disappointment, the milk tea i had tasted nothing more like a powdered drink. It reminded me of my childhood when I had to drink hot milk made out of milk powder. It was absolutely sickening. In Australia, there are plenty of "Bubble Cup" drinks, and most of them sourced their ingredients from China, which are mostly powdered stuff. My experience with T's Boba is fairly similar. Drinks here are sold $4.00 for a large drink, which is certainly a lot cheaper. Given T's Boba has some unique drinks, still it can't justify any rating higher than 1 if they can't get the basic drinks right. Stick to the basic and brew your own teas. read more

This place has great boba at a great price! The old lady who usually works at this place is very nice, and literally, acts just like a mom. I always get the milk tea here! The reason I'm giving this place only 4 stars rather than 5 is because in one of my recent visits, the other lady who worked here gave my friend and I some horrible customer service. We asked for another cup and she charged us 85 cents and limited us to only 2 straws...really? We didn't end up getting the extra cup anyway. I hate to be the one to write a bad review, but I was very key down on this place. The only good thing about my time there was the wontons (AMAZING). The service was almost non-existent. It could be because I am not Chinese (I am black) and though my friend I went with is full Chinese and a fluent speaker, she is not the typical looking one having darker skin and all. We were some of the only people there other than the owners and their small children, but barely got attended to. The gave us some luke warm tea but never any water. They definitely ignored us and did nothing to make us feel welcome. The food was subpar at best (other than the wontons which are off the charts good). I'd only go back to get the wontons TO GO. The Food here is little more taiwanese like. I enjoy the Chicken Leg Combo. They give a lots of veggies. They also made me a milk tea boba. It's pretty bad...but it's free.
