I ordered some items at Truya Sushi in Santa Clara. I placed orders via Uber Eats and Door Dash, both for pickup. They have a large variety of items as well as Sushi classes, catering, delivery ect. We went to pick up Friday around 5:30pm and the place was mostly empty. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and there was no problem finding parking. The items were ready for us, the woman checked our receipt, handed us the items and left. It could be a language barrier. The place has plenty of seating and nice and quiet with a Sushii bar as well. When we went home and unpacked the items, I noticed something missing. We ordered mussels and on both sites - Uber and Door Dash, it showed 6 pieces but what was packed for is was only 5 pieces. When I called to ask about it, I was told that they no longer provide 6 pieces just 5, they are trying to keep costs low. But the pictures on the ordering sites show 6 pieces and he said that he would make sure that the pictures are updated! The food was good but not exceptional. They are competitively priced. It was overall an OK experience.

Decent sushi bar. Service was a bit slow considering I had gone for takeout at 5 pm so no other patrons were there. I liked the fact that they had a seperate vegetarian menu. I got the sweet tempura roll, pickled tofu roll and the avo, mushroom, cuc roll. The tofu one was my favorite. While the sushi was good, it was predominantly a thick layer of rice with very little filling inside. I would have preferred it reversed. The pickled ginger given was a bit dry and wasabi not very strong. Prices were affordable.

We came here on a Sunday night to get sushi and whie dup bap (how it's spelled on their menu). I was looking specifically for this type of sushi donburi that has salad and spicy Korean sauce (gochujang). Not all sushi restaurant will offer this and I thought this one definitely one of the better tasting ones. It was a deal for getting a large plate with rice, salad and sashimi. I like adding a lot of gochujang before mixing it all together. The garlic and fresh jalapeños gave it a nice kick. Overall, both me and my husband really enjoyed this. We'll definitely come back for hwe dup bap. It was our first time here and it's a good spot if you want to watch a sports game since there are TVs you can watch them on. Parking is very limited so it may be hard to find a parking spot. I didn't get to try any sushi rolls but I'm definitely coming back to try more.

I have been a regular to Truya sushi for lunch. One of my favorite items is their bento box. The service is fast and the ambiance is good enough for small groups.

Sashimi boat

My family wanted some sushi for lunch so we happened to pass by this place and so glad we did. Their sashimi boat was amazing, WOW! Jack was our waiter and he gave us an excellent customer service. I recommend stopping by during lunch hours. JK

Came here with my friend for sushi following a workout at the nearby 24 hr fitness. I ordered the two option bento box. The salmon teriyaki was delicious and I really enjoyed the sushi part as well. A miso soup was promised as part of the bento box but that didn't come. Our waitress may have just forgotten and by then I was full so I didn't need it after all haha. This is definitely a hole in the wall. We came late at night and they seated us immediately. They have parking out front and also in the back (but the back is pretty dark) and there were some people hanging out along the alley so I'd avoid. Great food and good service. Don't judge a book by its cover I'd say!

Unagi nigiri and Tuna

A friend recommended Truya sushi so I thought why not since I'm in the area so I did. Wow, if you haven't yet had a chance to order unagi from here you should.

we arrived on a Sunday evening around 630, there was only one table with customers, we were thinking of noes. but we sat down anyway and the food actually amazed us, salmon was one of the freshest ones I had in many years, I was not expected such high quality in looks like a tucked away place like this. throughout the hour there was a lot of delivery pickups so they seem busy. for the price $55 the sashimi combo is a good value

Ordered from here before and it was good. I was so shocked this time. I ordered this for about 10 people and 4 people got sick after eating the food about 30min - 2 hrs later. I ordered it for a lunch event at work at is was not fun. The food tasted great but I don't know why this happened.

Legit sushi place in the area. The owners are super nice and always make their guests feel welcomed. Rolls are well-prepared and delicious, and the sashimi is always fresh. Be sure to try out the bento combos as well: portioned fairly, with great variety and flavors. Kid friendly too!

Food 5/5 This review is for orders completed via Uber Eats. I've probably ordered here atleast 10 times and each time I've never been disappointed, overall (timing, flavor, presentation, etc). They also always wrap the gunkan items in cling wrap so the orders are still visually neat by the time it gets here so I definitely appreciate that alot. Cumulatively I've had: - Salmon sashimi: buttery, tasted clean, no pungent fishy or wet mop smell - Baked mussels - Amebi: sashimi/nigiri part had a creamy flavor with some crunchiness texture. For the deep fried head, it's always filled with tomalley and they use a good amount of seasoning - Ikura - Uni - Fried soft shell crab - Hamachi kama There was only 1 time where the uni tasted a teensy bit funky, but that didn't hinder me from ordering other items from here again. The time I got the fried soft shell crab, it also had a little too much batter for my preference. Other than these two instances, I'd definitely recommend getting the other items on here as the price point isn't ridiculous.

Food tasted mediocre. Sashimi pieces were small, and quality of the fish was mediocre. Sushi was overpriced and tasted so-so.

In fact, the chefs are korean. Take that how you will... but one thing I can say for sure is this... This place is by far the most consistent sushi restaurant i've been to in the Bay. The sushi rice is the same EVERY time. That's not easy to do... Why? Because the same rice from the same vendor will be drier/more wet depending on which time of year you get it. That said, you have to accurately adjust the amount of water when cooking the rice. It's not easy. The food here is VERY consistent. Sounds weird to say but I wouldn't be surprised if the Head Chef here has OCD.

We got 4 items and my favorite was the Hawaiian poke that actually leaned more into Korean flavors. It was very saucy but also very flavorful and I liked the balance of the tuna with the crunch of the tobiko and veggies. Service was attentive and kept my water refilled.

I'd only had agedashi tofu served in a broth, and was surprised that the pieces were dry with a dipping sauce. It came out fresh and piping hot, and the breading was flavorful. I would eat this again despite it being different from what I'm used to. I'm not a huge fan of raw salmon, but my fiancé thoroughly enjoyed the orange blossom roll. He said the fish was fresh. We also got the Samurai roll and a Saba bento with gyoza. I like spicy tuna and the roll hit the spot. The jalapeño was really spicy and went along well with the tuna. I was surprised by the options for the bento. It was either gyoza, or for an extra $3, you could get one of three other items instead. Definitely wasn't used to this setup since I've normally gotten multiple sides included when ordering a bento. We later heard another table inquire about this as well. I'm presuming they're often asked the same question since the photo on the menu for the bento seems to be misrepresented. There was only one server for six parties during our visit. We didn't feel any lack in service though, so kudos to her. We left with full tummies, and would come back to dine here again :) I wouldn't recommend this spot for a first date. It's well-lit and quiet - doesn't feel private or intimate enough to have a genuine conversation.

The gyoza is fried well but the fillings is mushy. Miso soup and salad comes with the bento. The Saba was dry but the portion of fish they gave is pretty generous! Service: Service is friendly but slow. This could have been because I came with a large party though so that could have affected the service times. They did end up forgetting some orders at the table but since there was only one server at the time, handling the entire restaurant, it's understandable. Ambiance: Pretty cozy. Japanese decorations here and there.

This is a classic izakaya but they are known for their homemade soba noodles which did not disappoint. We had the soba at the end to finish off the meal. Not to miss dishes included: 1. Housemade tofu - this was super creamy and soft. A great way to start the meal. 2. Yuba beancurd. I love this dish so when I see it on a menu I always order it and you could taste the freshness of this one. 3. The ebi toast added a nice fried appetizer alternative to the usual fried/heavy apps 4. Though not pictured, we ordered the duck soba which was really good. The unctuous broth from the duck fat coated the soba noodles and gave it a great depth of flavor. Much more unique than the regular tempura soba we also ordered. 5. They had a special salmon belly dish that was really good and would definitely order again if it's on the menu. 6. While I do enjoy a matsutake mushroom and it's in season right now, the price tag was a bit steep for the amount of mushrooms you get. Okay to skip this one. 7. The beef tongue was just okay, it's a nice presentation where you grill it yourself tableside but we've had better. 8. Save room for dessert! The soba pudding was so unique and super tasty. Like most Asian desserts, not too sweet and the toasted sesame seeds added a nice crunchy texture. We will definitely be back again to try more dishes.

Quick, casual, good value, hefty portion, plenty of variety, and convenient whether I'm grabbing lunch to-go or looking for a late-night dinner. I usually stick to what I know and rotate between the Warriors Roll, Dinosaur Roll, Dragon Roll, and 49ers Roll, along with nigiri. The fish has been fresh, the rolls are well made, and I've been consistently happy with my orders. For lunch, I'm guilty of getting the Lunch Combo 2 or 3 item because the deals are just THAT good. They also have late-night offers, which make this a great option all around. Full transparency: I haven't really explored the rest of the menu. I haven't tried their omakase set or many of their hot, non-sushi dishes because I've been perfectly content rotating through my usual favorites. Why mess with a good thing? One downside is parking. The plaza is always busy, and with so many food delivery drivers around, finding a spot can be annoying. But location is great - lots of boba options nearby.

With the weather getting colder, my husband and I decided to order soup along with our usual sushi. I ordered the udon, and he ordered the spicy miso ramen. Everything was fine until the ramen arrived. As soon as we took our first sips of the broth, we immediately looked at each other because the flavor was unmistakably familiar. After tasting it, we both agreed that it tasted just like Shin Instant Ramen. Out of curiosity, we asked our waiter whether the ramen was made with instant noodles. Unfortunately, the waiter confirmed that it was indeed instant ramen. This was incredibly disappointing, especially considering that the dish was presented on the menu as spicy miso ramen and priced as a restaurant meal. We understand that we are dining at a sushi restaurant, not a dedicated ramen shop, and perhaps we should have managed our expectations accordingly. However, there is a difference between offering a simple ramen dish and charging restaurant prices for what tastes like packaged instant noodles dressed up with extra chili powder and standard ramen toppings. We expected more than something we could easily prepare at home for a fraction of the price. What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that we genuinely enjoy this restaurant and have always been happy with the sushi. We don't expect every dish to be exceptional, but we do expect the quality to reflect the price and the description on the menu. We will likely continue coming back for the sushi, but we would not recommend ordering the spicy miso ramen. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling misled and questioning the value of what we were served.
