Saw Truva on a local Instagram page and had to give it a try. Checking out the menu, I could have gone many ways with so much great Mediterranean to pick from. My wife and I started out with an order of hummus. Pretty boring start, you say? Nah, this was amazing hummus. Creamy, so creamy and garlicky but not too much garlic. Just a nice layer of oil, not a pool. Served with a basket full of thick foccacia, rather than traditional pita. Then I had the stuffed cabbage. Wow, so very delicious. Three nice sized cabbage rolls. Cabbage was cooked well so that it cut with a fork. The lamb and beef mix was very tasty. Served with yogurt, adding an unexpected element to the dish. Could have used a touch more sauce, but still... mmmmm! My wife had the shepherds casserole. The eggplant was as good as anything we had all night. The lamb was also tasty. I will say that the menu is a bit pricy. Entrees in the mid $20s and most apps in the teens, but all worth the price. The restaurant doesn't have a bar and I'm not sure if you can BYO. Service was very good. We were in and out in under an hour. Finally, I can't finish without mentioning, they use some odd reservation system on their website (which my browser warned me was a risky web page) and for the life of me, I couldn't make the reservation. I called and someone answered that I couldn't understand. So we went early without a reservation. Please, please, please get open table or Yelp reservation system. read more

Really delicious Turkish food! I came here a couple nights ago with my family and we split the appetizer and mixed grill for 4. Both were exceptional. Each of the appetizers was delicious, refreshing, and tasted amazing when paired with their freshly baked bread. I believe this spot used to be an Italian place and they are using the original pizza oven to bake their bread, which is a great way to repurpose it. The bread with oil and sun dried tomatoes alone is exceptional, but I recommend trying the appetizers too. I wasn't a huge fan of the grape leaves, but otherwise I liked everything. In terms of the mixed grill, everything was so delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly, tender, and seasoned well. They also included some grilled vegetables and jalapeños which was a great touch. For a Mediterranean spot, I was impressed at how much spice they put into the dish. The bulgar pilaf was great as well. It's not a huge portion so if you like it, ask for a side of it. We were staying in the hotel right down the block, so we decided to try it. Delicious! Very varied menu, with lots of lamb which made my DH very happy. It's kind of loud, and the waitress was soft-spoken, so ordering was a little difficult, but it all worked out. I had the grilled shrimp (plentiful) and my DH had the lamb kebabs. The lamb chunks were huge, and they were grilled perfectly. We were glad we didn't order any appetizers, because the mains were more than filling, especially with the warm bread and herbed oil that were brought to the table. Ate here last night after 9PM. Had the lentil soup and (for the first time) lahmacun. The latter is a form of thin crust Turkish pizza with ground lamb and beef and some minced vegetables. It was very good and a generous serving. The server told me that It is eaten by putting some red onion and tomato pieces on top, then rolling it and eating it kind of like a wrap.Service ws friendly and attentive. BEST PITA OF MY LIFE This place was recommended to me by a friend who grew up in Libya, and she said it was authentic and delicious. Truva did not disappoint!! The lamb was so flavorful, the pita was fluffy and fresh, and the borek was amazing. We got the hummus, spinach borek (like spanakopita), falafel, doner gyro sandwich, and Adana kebab entree. We came here on a Friday night and ran a bit late beyond our initial reservation time, but were still promptly seated. Service was fast and attentive. Bread was amazing, the appetizer for two was subtle, yet flavorful. The chef's grill was delicious with juicy meat and perfectly grilled vegetables. The falafels were on point. Tea and dessert (pistachio baklava, caramelized pudding) ended the night perfectly. As we were leaving, we got to see the bread being made from beginning to end. Turkish Really ? For folks that like steak houses, this must be out of this world! But we have had many great Turkish meals in places like Pasha!!! Aladins etc. Don't give me wrong the service is the best I've had in a long time from anywhere, and I've traveled all over. But when you talk about their main meal, been beef and lamb, shaved from a rotisserie behind a screen, it really isn't true Turkish food. This is the same food people put in gyros. Their desserts were phenomenal. Their wines were OK but what would you expect from a Turkish restaurant. The bottom line is, they've done a great job in a very busy part of Kenwood, and made their restaurant. Look beautiful, but these folks are making great money on low cost foods. They're really going to be hard to impress me that they've made anything there by hand. Their breads are nothing like pasha. I would challenge them to find out where they buy their food, and how much they actually make their by hand. Went on a weeknight evening and it was steady. Our server was amazing and our food came out quick. I ordered the chicken thighs which were the most tender thighs I ever had. Had a bite of a couple other dishes and they were all flavorful and delicious. The baklava was amazing. Mixed reviews on drinks from the table but I thought my martini was delicious. I'm plotting for a chance to come back again so I can taste one of those big platters, eat another piece of baklava and try the Turkish coffee. Wow. This place is exquisite! The service is great and they are friendly. The ambiance is elegant and welcoming. The food is phenomenal! We went twice within a week. The first time just to try it and the second to bring my family from out of town. We told them it's a must try while they were visiting. We live about 25-30 min away but it's one of our new favorite places to go in Kenwood. The appetizer and the platters for 2 or 4 were a nice variety of the menu and plenty of food. It all tasted very fresh. The chicken kebab the first time was dried out and a little hard. But the second time we went it was very good. So maybe it was just a off day the first time. Truva Turkish Kitchen is a great Mediterranean option from an owner with a lot of experience in the space. It's a great location and will be my go to Mediterranean choice moving forward. Truva Turkish Kitchen's owner previously operated Truva Cafe in Blue Ash. I think it closed partially due to the pandemic. Previously, I believe the owner was partner with another Mediterranean restaurant in West Chester. Located in a shopping strip near Kenwood Mall, there is plenty of parking in the attached parking lot. The restaurant itself is very open, with tasteful and modern/industrial décor. It certainly does not look like the typical Mediterranean restaurants I'm used to. Service was great; we were promptly greeted and seated. Our server came around quickly to introduce himself and offer drinks while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. He was very attentive to us without hovering. For food, we had the appetizer sampler and mixed grilled for 4. Honestly, I have no complaints about the food. It's up there with the other golden standard for this type of cuisine in town, and I thought the meat was more tender than anywhere else. Generous portions as well. I will definitely return, and keep this as my first choice for this type of food. read more

Unfortunately, parking was a hassle here -- it's located the congested Kenwood mall area, and almost all the spaces in the 7 or so conjoined parking lots nearby were all filled. But once I got over that hurdle I found a pleasant, bright, casual, comfortable-looking restaurant. I came to pick up my take-out order here, and found the waitress to be very friendly and open. She had my order all ready to go and patiently & cheerfully answered my questions about hosting a large group of friends there. My next pleasant surprise was when I arrived home and checked out the food. The spinach borek was excellent -- the home-made pastry was flaky and delicate and the filling was rich in flavor (especially feta, my favorite flavor). The lamb shish kebab was equally remarkable: huge savory chunks of flavorful charred lamb. I was able to substitute bulghur pilaf for the rice pilaf that accompanied it, and found it to be a good combination with the meat. The pita that came with the meal was also amazing -- it wasn't your local grocery store pita. This was a big thick round of goodness, perfect for tearing off a hunk and dipping in any available sauce. And the baklava was the size of a piece of pizza, and was sweet and crunchy in all the right places. In fact the only food I wasn't fond of was the salmon in grape leaves, as there was no flavoring to it (not even salt), and I found a few pin bones in the salmon. But overlooking that sour note the food overall was authentic, flavorful, and made with care. A pleasant authentic experience I'll revisit soon. read more

Hubby and I enjoyed a really nice meal here for my birthday. Hubby had just been in Turkey for business earlier in the month and had been impressed with Turkish food, so he brought me to Truva, hoping he could share the experience with me. I had a delightful dinner at Truva with friends. The menu is full of so many delicious choices that it was hard to decide what to pick! We started with the calamari. It was perfectly crisp and came with a delicious sauce. We also happily received the complimentary bread. It was yeasty like pita and fluffy like ciabatta at the same time. Between the three of us, we happily polished off two baskets! My entree was the lahmacun. I wanted something I'd never had before and this delivered! I especially enjoyed the raw onions to add texture and flavor. Even better, I thought, were the entrees of my companions. The lamb shish kabob and the Sultan's favorite. The lamb cubes of the kabob were well marinated and tender. And the Sultan's favorite is a dish suitable for royalty. The smoky eggplant complements the tomato lamb Ragu. I will order this next time I'm back. For dessert, we fawned over the kunefe. Don't be afraid to branch out and try it! Layers of flavor, fantastic setting, and a great location make Truva Turkish Kitchen a real standout restaurant in the Kenwood area. This restaurant is the first in our December Advent eating (23 to go) and I have to say we started out on a high note. Truva falls into the category of an elevated eating experience for me. The interior of the restaurant is very nice and every dish of food was excellently conceived and executed. As a prime example, I ordered and absolutely loved the pan seared liver. I NEVER eat liver and still hold a little disdain for my parents for making me eat it as a child. Yet I loved this dish. The preparation and spices were fantastic. I mean, it still tastes like liver, but a million times better than I was expecting. Secondly, I love Turkish coffee. If you haven't had it, it is prepared by putting coffee, ground to a flour consistency, and steeped in a cup. Like espresso in serving size, but french press in brewing technique, and the fine grounds settle to the bottom of the cup. And at Truva, served in these awesomely decorated serving carafes. It really made my day to have this cup of coffee with my meal. Finally, we also had the Falafel appetizer, Sheppard's Casserole, and a Kebab. All were layered with spices and flavors and the Falafel was the best we have had in some time, namely because it was very crunchy on the outside but rich on the inside (ie not dry). The location is right off Kenwood road and there is plenty of parking in front. If you like food that is in the category often lumped together as "Mediterranean", you will love this place. read more
