Layers of flavor, fantastic setting, and a great location make Truva Turkish Kitchen a real standout restaurant in the Kenwood area. This restaurant is the first in our December Advent eating (23 to go) and I have to say we started out on a high note. Truva falls into the category of an elevated eating experience for me. The interior of the restaurant is very nice and every dish of food was excellently conceived and executed. As a prime example, I ordered and absolutely loved the pan seared liver. I NEVER eat liver and still hold a little disdain for my parents for making me eat it as a child. Yet I loved this dish. The preparation and spices were fantastic. I mean, it still tastes like liver, but a million times better than I was expecting. Secondly, I love Turkish coffee. If you haven't had it, it is prepared by putting coffee, ground to a flour consistency, and steeped in a cup. Like espresso in serving size, but french press in brewing technique, and the fine grounds settle to the bottom of the cup. And at Truva, served in these awesomely decorated serving carafes. It really made my day to have this cup of coffee with my meal. Finally, we also had the Falafel appetizer, Sheppard's Casserole, and a Kebab. All were layered with spices and flavors and the Falafel was the best we have had in some time, namely because it was very crunchy on the outside but rich on the inside (ie not dry). The location is right off Kenwood road and there is plenty of parking in front. If you like food that is in the category often lumped together as "Mediterranean", you will love this place. read more

Came here on Saturday at about 2:30 pm. Not very crowded but called ahead anyway just in case and quickly seated. Interior is lovely. Food could be better Ordered the lentil soup (my fear was that it would be super salty, it wasn't). Hummus was not as good as I thought it would be but certainly not like that oily stuff that passes as hummus you get in most restaurants. It was authentic. Had the meat platter for two. It was really good. I felt it had too much salt but that was just the gyro (and that's what gyro is anyway, salt and fat) Avoid the mint tea. No dessert. Service was prompt and excellent. I was craving some Turkish food and so glad that Cincinnati has option (s?). I got the Doner Kebab for $23.99 and it was a good portion of meat and must I say, the rice that came with it was amazing! Great atmosphere - place seems new. Tip: if you come on a Friday night at 7 pm, parking in front of the restaurant may not be possible. Instead, just drive back to the garage (free parking) and save yourself from circling the parking lot. Thank God my friend arrived early to tell me that. read more

Geez, where do I start? I just got off a plane from California and Truva was the closest restaurant within walking distance to my hotel, and open on Labor Day. I guess you need reservations, because the young lady at the front asked me. I told her no but she had a table available for a single and sat me right away. I ordered a glass of water (I only drink water with dinner) and the Moussaka dish. My server, who spoke very little English, started me off with a glass of tepid water and never brought the complimentary bread and dip that everyone raves about in the yelp reviews! I was also passed up by a young man who had a water carafe and he breezed by my table and refilled my neighbors water glasses, but not mine. I was dumbfounded. When I finally flagged the young man down and asked for a refill of water, he brought me half a glass of water. I feel like chopped liver at this point. I was so not impressed and should've left the restaurant at that moment, but my hunger was more than I could bare and I decided to press on. I had to flag down and ask the greeter for the complimentary bread because my server was MIA. Since she also knew very little English and didn't seem to understand me I had to show her a photo from another Yelper's review of the complimentary bread and dip! She said oh yes and went to get me some. I was definitely not on their radar to get much service or attention! It was probably that I was dining alone and maybe I wasn't worth their time. Who knows? It is an understatement to say that the entire staff was inattentive! It took forever when my food finally arrived to my table, and it was barely warm. It should've been steaming hot, but I am very certain that the dish sat a long time before it was brought to me. Although the food was extremely delicious (it would have been off the hook if it was hot), the lack of customer service was unacceptable! The food can't make up for bad service. I can say with confidence that I'll never be back here again, but of course I don't live here. If I did, however, I would not come back for that very reason. Ate at the Kenwood location for the first time on Thanksgiving (one of few.places open). Had not eaten Turkish food before, so I was excited to try something new. The restaurant is really nice inside and you're immediately welcomed. You can see the kitchen from the tables and the wood fired oven they use for the delicious bread. Service is excellent -its there when you need it but not intrusive. Our waiter operated with a bit of formality that you'd expect from high end restaurants, but was not at all snooty. The menu was surprisingly extensive - it's my much more than just kebabs. Prices are maybe a little higher than I expected - for 4 people you'll pay about $120-150 incl. tax and tip (without drinks, appetizers, or dessert). My kids weren't sure about lamb, but we're able to find many other things to safely choose from. Every table gets a basket of bread, which comes out warm from the oven with dipping oil. All of us enjoyed our entrees, and took leftovers home (probably because we ate too much bread!). I wrapped up with a Turkish coffee, which I was also anxious to try. Its the size of an espresso shot and comes out in a gorgeous, ornate pewter/silver cup with a lid. Drinking from it makes it feel like a bit of a ritual. Overall I really enjoyed the experience here and would like to explore the menu more. Will definitely return. read more

Reprehensible service.. we will NOT come back to this establishment with the way we were treated. Came in on a Sunday evening to pick up carryout order after 40m (time quoted was 30m). It was busy- okay, don't mind waiting for someone to come address us at the host stand with how busy it was. Had to wait at host stand for over 15m, no one acknowledged me. Fed up after 15m of employees noticing us but no one coming up to us at the host stand, I Interrupted a server walking around who then asked my name when I said I was waiting on a pickup order. After giving my name, they ran off and never came back to tell me of status. Waited 10m, nothing. Flagged a different server, who also said they would check, but didn't come back to me. After another 10m, fed up at this point, I walked to back of house near kitchen area where manager was and inquired on the order. The manager's response was "we have way too many orders, what do you expect? We're too busy". My response was "Sure, but it's unacceptable to leave your customers waiting at the front ignoring them, and not following up on the status of their order." What a HORRIBLE way to treat your customers. No apology for the delay.. all they had to do was look into the status with the kitchen and let us know-- that's all it takes. Given the despicable treatment, it's very clear management needs a lesson in kindness and customer service. We are locals and were excited about this place opening after they closed the location in blue ash we used to frequent (without issue at that location). We will NOT be back and we will advise all our neighbors and friends of our experience and to go elsewhere where they will be treated with kindness and respect. Ironically, after getting home with our carryout order the vegetable sides were missing for both entrees-- well, technically not-- there was one piece of broccoli and cauliflower. What a joke. If you go, hopefully it's not when they're busy-- otherwise expect a rude staff and plate of food that may be missing components. read more

My husband and I were able to get in last minute on a Saturday evening and how lucky we were! The new Truva restaurant is beautiful, everyone is friendly and the food is excellent. We tried the Lahmacun (flatbread with ground lamb, beef and chopped vegetables). The flavor was wonderful and just this dish would bring us back. We also had the Sultan's Special and Chicken Thighs. Great location. It's close to Coopers Hawk without all the crowds and the atmosphere and food is perfect. My husband had the moussaka and I.was jealous. Definitely going back! Amazingly we got into Truva on a Saturday night and got a table by the open kitchen. It has been a while since I've had Turkish cuisine but it was like slipping into a warm bath or a comfy pair of shoes. First off, they were amply staffed with lovely helpful people. The appetizer platter is a must as you can taste all the mezze. I also had no idea there was "Turkish pizza" but don't let that stop you. After trying to find several places to eat we remembered seeing truva about to open a few weeks ago. I had never experienced Turkish cuisine so I was extremely excited to try it out. We got seated immediately and the host was very accommodating. He helped us get situated, we had a toddler and a wheelchair bound person in our party. We opted for flatbread, sandwich, salad and they were able to make chicken fingers for a picky child . Our server helped entertain the toddler when he needed to be walked around, being a little fussy. He also helped place a napkin on our elder family member. Very sweet detail. I love the food here and their Turkish wine. However yesterday I had a very disappointing experience. The host refused to seat me at a low top table based on the fact that I didn't have a reservation. My friend was 5 minutes behind me and he was like- is your friend coming? The bread he brought to the table was cold. So overall a terrible experience to begin with. This was the first time I ate at the restaurant, the others were take out.
