Pork ribs, Brisket, beef ribs
Brandon N.

This is my first ever Texas BBQ experience. I really don't have much to compare it to other than what California offers and this is way better than those places. I have yet to try any non commercial places in California but I have a baseline now and I really enjoyed this. First the Brisket, was nicely smoked without being overbearing. Wasn't as tender as I imagined but the meat was very tasty. With some of the house bbq sauce even better. Pork ribs were nicely smoked as well and the rib meat was perfectly smoked to tender. Flavor was good but better with sauce. Beef rib was very very tender and moist. There was a ton of beef fat to make it super juicy. Great smoke ring, dipped in the same sauce and it's a great Texas bbq addition. Sausages we chose boudin brisket, house, and cheddar jalapeño . The boudin was heavy was had good flavor. Tons of rice but that's indicative of good boudin. I lived in Louisiana and boudin was a staple snack. The other two were a bit on the dry side for me but good flavor. Probably wouldn't order again which sucks because I do like a good sausage. Last of the meats is the smoked turkey. OMG is this meat juicy and tender. Shocked me. I was expecting dry turkey because turkey is just dry but wow Truth has an amazing smoked turkey. I can imagine all kinds of ways to eat this. Sandwiches would be amazing. The pickled sides are great as well. Pickles are tangy without the overpowering sourness some places has. The pickled onions were great. Made a small side sandwich with the picked onions and turkey and I was good to go. I'd repeat but maybe after trying other Texas BBQ places.

So I've had this place saved on my list for a few years now it's always crowded so I've never made it. I went on Tuesday shortly after they opened. It was not super busy yet I was not .disappointed. The meat was perfectly cooked and smoked just right. Service was excellent. They let me sample the tator tot casserole because I had no idea what that was and now I love it. The brussels sprouts were delicious. All of the meats were good The sauce was just okay . Kinda thin. Not a lot of smoke flavor. But the sides and meat was perfection

Texas BBQ is always a must when visiting Houston, and Truth BBQ is one of my favorite spots. Truth is usually packed with a long line of people waiting to get inside to order. Thankfully, there was no wait when I came by, and I was able to get my barbecue within 5 minutes. Staff is always amazing, and the restaurant is clean. Lots of seating both inside and outside. I ordered a 1/2 lb of brisket and a side of coleslaw. The brisket is so delicious here. It's juicy, tender, and pairs perfectly with the barbecue sauces they have on the table. The yellow mustard sauce is my absolute favorite. When I lived in Houston, my house was stocked with this sauce. I didn't really care for the coleslaw when I went.

Truth The lines are not long at all, today. Such a class act. We interacted with at least four of the employees and each one of them was so friendly and so accommodating. ESPECIALLY Freddie who made sure all was copacetic. They even gave us a few little chunks of brisket to taste while we were in line. Management has done such a phenomenal job of training their employees. Ambiance great Barbecue so tender. Just perfect.

Hands down, the best BBQ I've had in Houston so far. Brisket is brisket- you either dry it out or you absolutely nail it. They nailed it. Perfectly juicy, tender, and packed with smoky flavor. But what really puts this place over the top is the tater tot casserole. Great sides can make the meal, and this one absolutely does. It's ridiculously good... like I'd happily eat an entire bowl of just the casserole. We ordered the brisket, pork ribs, beef rib, both sausages, and, of course, a whole lot of tater tot casserole. While you're waiting in line, they hand out samples of the brisket so you can decide whether you want lean or fatty. Fatty all day for me. The beef rib was massive and had an incredible smoky flavor, but low-key, I think the sausages ended up being my favorite meat of the day. They were juicy, flavorful, and didn't get overshadowed by everything else. We got there around 11:00 a.m. on a Saturday and waited about an hour in line. It sounds long, but they make it easy with water and drinks available for purchase while you wait. The staff was friendly the entire time- from the people managing the line to the servers and the bussers making rounds through the dining room. Whatever you do... don't skip the tater tot casserole

I mean does this place need another review to say how good it is?! lol I know others have said it, but the brisket so so good. When I return to visit Texas, I will be back to eat here again. All the staff was super friendly and welcoming. Getting those little samples too Yum I completely regret not buying the bigger container of the banana pudding because it was so good. Warning tho, be prepared to wait. We didn't mind the wait but it started to rain and we were like but all was good.

Ribs, brisket Mac and cheese! Soo good

Went here for my sisters graduation and it was delicious! I thought it was a little pricy for the food but it tasted so good! The ambiance was ok but it's inner loop houston. If you sit outside all you'll hear is ambulances and car honks lol service was non existent. You order the food and pick it up yourself

Truth BBQ lives up to the hype. I got the brisket, turkey, and jalapeño sausage, and all three were on point. The meat speaks for itself, but the sides are what really round out the meal. The tater tot casserole was the standout for me. Genuinely one of the best things on the table. Texas BBQ without sweet tea isn't Texas BBQ, and they deliver on that too. This is the best Texas BBQ I've had.

Truth BBQ is hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. Yes, there's usually a line, but the wait is absolutely worth it. The staff is incredibly friendly, offers free samples while you decide, and never makes you feel rushed despite how busy they are. The portions are generous, the quality is outstanding, and you get more food than you might expect for the price. Be sure to try all of their sauces! If you're debating whether the wait is worth it, trust me: it is.

Was my first visit. We are lucky to be the second group to entry to the rest. While we wait, because they open a 5: p.m we see a lot people to be line. Food was delicious. We buy Texas Trinity, and. Bring 4 side dishes. Everything was soo good and very nice flavor. I will returned when a came back to Housto.n

2 Meat Plate. Brisket and jalapeño sausage.

Great food, the best banana pudding I've ever had in my life. Long lines, but they move quick. Very friendly staff and love all three bbq sauces at the table. Had the two meat platter- brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage, tater tot casserole and Mac and cheese. Would definitely go back!

3 meats and two sides (pork ribs were my favorite) brisket, pulled pork, Mac and cheese and casserole
Robert P.

Was told this is one of if not the best BBQ in Texas/Houston area. Definitely did not disappoint. Lines are always long no matter what time you come(I got there 2:30) but it did move. They do some specials each day but I went with three meat plate with two sides. Speaking to a regular in line and she mentioned that turkey is great and tater tot casserole. The ribs particularly were incredible, literally fell off the bone. They offer sauces at the tables and dessert which was too much for me at that point but look fantastic. Employees working there were super nice and the dining area had a cool Texas feel to it. Bring your appetite and leave home any vegans

I thought the tater tot casserole & brussels sprouts were fantastic. Definitely some of the best sides at a Texas BBQ spot. However, the meat was just okay. The brisket (even from the point) was a little dry. The ribs were also not memorable.

Pulled pork and ribs were an A+. We asked for only lean brisket Bark and smoke ring were great.

On average how long is the line around 11 or 12 on a weekday?

We waited about 30 minutes on a Friday. Got there 15 mins before open. Wasn't bad at all.

I tried to look at the menu, however I didn't see it. Could someone tell me the cost of "The Trinity"?

$106.00

If coming with 10 people, can you preorder as to not hold up the line?

I don’t think so.

Are they pet friendly? A patio where we can eat with our pets?

There is an outside area and I do recall seeing a customer with their dog.

Is your bbq gluten free?

Yes on meats. But, only 4 of the sides - Brussels, Coleslaw, Potato Salad and Baked Beans.

Is the dining room open for dine in yet?

The dining room was only closed for 2 months last year. It's been open ever since.

Does this establishment sell alcohol?

Yes!

Can we order for pick up?

Yes with a five pound minimum order to be picked up at 11:00. Hope this helps thank you

Do you deliver via postmates. doordash or ubereats?

No, but you can order for pick-up.

Are your meats gluten free?

Yes

Do y'all cater?

Hi Elizabeth, we do in fact cater! This is our second location, and we have over 4 years of catering experience under our belts - we have done small events, all the way up to events with thousands of attendees. You can call us anytime for a quote,…

How is the parking situation? Anyone wait longer than 30 mins while in the food line?

The lot is pretty spacious. It fits 50+ cars. The 2 times I've been, I didn't have an issue finding a spot. Then again, it will depend on what time you plan on grabbing some bbq. That goes for wait time, too. Expect to wait in line for 30…

After the three-taco dinner, I honestly struggled to reconcile what was on my tray with its Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. The biggest problem was the one thing a barbecue restaurant needs to get right: the meat. It arrived cold and lacked flavor. The tacos fell apart as I ate them, and nothing about the taste made up for that. I've had considerably better tacos from food trucks. At a place with this reputation, I expected much more. The sides didn't rescue the meal. The cornbread was dry, the mac and cheese was mediocre, and the atmosphere felt lifeless during our visit. The meat should have been the star of the show; instead, it was the biggest letdown. The staff, however, were wonderful--warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. They deserve credit, and the service was easily the best part of the experience. This wasn't an inedible meal. It was an underwhelming one from a restaurant I used to enthusiastically recommend. Two stars reflects this visit, and I hope the kitchen gets back to the standard that made me love this place.

If you arrive early, be sure to grab a number from the binder on the water cooler table near the front door. The staff also walks around offering drinks while you wait, which was a nice touch. Around 10:45 AM, everyone lines up according to their number. We were #24, and it took us almost 40 minutes to reach the front and place our order. We ordered: -1 lb moist brisket -1/2 lb garlic sausage link -1.5 lbs prime beef rib (feeds 2-3 people) -CS tacos with pulled pork (comes with 2 tacos) For sides, we got the coleslaw, potato salad, mac & cheese, cobbler, and smoked beans. I really liked the smoked beans and cobbler! Everything was absolutely delicious and worth the wait. All of the meats were flavorful, juicy, and tender. The CS tacos were good, and I highly recommend getting the pulled pork to go with them. The prime beef rib was the standout for me. They only offer it on Saturdays, so definitely get it if you're there. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food here was the real deal and they should be proud of having earned a Michelin Star, as well as being one of the top American-style BBQ restaurants in the world (only 4 hold a Michelin Star). The people that work here are also friendly and helpful, honestly such a chill vibe, which helps you get into the right mood for some bbq. What surprised me was that I ordered the Stuffed Potato Salad on a whim and it was out of this world! Warm potato salad (taste way better than it sounds) covered in chopped briskets, queso, ranch salsa, and green onions was so comforting and so delicious, I was crying! I also ordered a 1/2 of brisket and even though I had to take it home to finish work, it remained so tender and moist even after the drive home. The crust/bark was also so flavorful without being too much and I'm glad it wasn't just a hard layer of black pepper that was hard to crunch through. I'm also not really a coleslaw type of person, but their sweet & spicy coleslaw was the best I've ever had. I wolfed that down and would definitely get it again! We all need more fiber in our diet anyway and thankfully this is a painless way to do it (unless you can't handle the touch of spice I suppose). I'd really like to come back on a Saturday morning sometime with another sucker to accompany me, because an hour drive plus an hour or two wait on line is quite a big commitment. But the beef ribs are definitely on my radar and I probably will want to try their turkey, cobbler, and mac & cheese sometime. I'm also happy to say that even though I came late on a Thursday near closing and a lot of things were sold out, they still had brisket and that's my favorite cut of meat. I'll definitely have to swing by next time I have errands around here.

Sides were excellent as were the mashed potatoes with white gravy on the side, green beans that were just tender enough, but also a bit crunchy. Perfect. They were seasoned with pork, so if that's not your thing, you might want to skip it. We also ordered their shareable onion rings, easily enough for three people that were huge, hot, and crispy. Let's get this out of the way, some of their prices are a little up there, but if you're anything like me, and don't frequent BBQ places often, it's a rare but enjoyable treat. Sometimes you have to splurge and live a little. Also, they have their regular sauce on tables, but you now have to ask the cashier for their sublime coffee BBQ sauce. Don't be shy, ask. It's worth it. Oh, pro tip: If you want beef ribs, the 'plate' is actually cheaper and a better deal than 'by the pound', so save a little money and get two sides.

I arrived around 5:35 PM, about 25 minutes before closing, and ordered 1/2 lb of brisket and 1/2 lb of ribs. The brisket was $17, and unfortunately it was extremely greasy and so overcooked that the meat had become mushy. It still had good flavor, but the texture was nothing like the brisket I've normally gotten here. Judging by what I received, it felt like I may have gotten what was left at the end of the day. The ribs were $12, and my "1/2 lb" consisted of two individual ribs. They tasted good, but they weren't nearly as tender as I've had here before. I paid about $29 just for the meat, and for that price I expected much better quality and portioning. I understand that I came close to closing time, but I still paid full price and should receive the same quality of food as any other customer. If the brisket is past its best or there isn't enough left to make a proper order, I'd rather be told that so I can order something else. I'm not writing the place off because they've been good to me many times before. But this particular order was definitely not up to their usual standard, and the pictures speak for themselves.
