every single part was super flavorful - meat flavor came through and really good salty/peppery crust flavor too not super tender/fall apart-y. corn pudding: very good, lots of real corn pieces brussels sprouts: sauce was sooo yummy - it was a little sweet but not too much and not too oily either also the plate was really good value we got everything for $30 and it fed two ppl and the service was really good they were super generous and kind and the carver gave us some extra end pieces + samples :) Liked the red bbq sauce best although didn't need it. Nice bbq ambiance w/ music and clean. 10/10 experience
Was told this is one of if not the best BBQ in Texas/Houston area. Definitely did not disappoint. Lines are always long no matter what time you come(I got there 2:30) but it did move. They do some specials each day but I went with three meat plate with two sides. Speaking to a regular in line and she mentioned that turkey is great and tater tot casserole. The ribs particularly were incredible, literally fell off the bone. They offer sauces at the tables and dessert which was too much for me at that point but look fantastic. Employees working there were super nice and the dining area had a cool Texas feel to it. Bring your appetite and leave home any vegans
Came here right when opening to avoid a line and found the experience to be okay. The flavor of the brisket was good and it had the ring you'd expect, but the temperature was very lukewarm. The tatertot casserole was interesting and the corn pudding was my favorite side! The brussel sprout were okay, a tad sweet for my palette. The house sausage was seasoned well and had a good snap to it, but similar to the brisket the temperature was also very lukewarm. Overall, I'd say it's okay. I think there is better bbq to be had in Houston probably. I wouldn't be back on my next trip to Houston.
I'm visiting Texas with my dad, he thinks this trip is about "learning the different cities." I'm here for BBQ. We showed up around 6pm and hit a 30-minute wait, which felt fair. Ordered about 3 lbs of pork ribs and half a pound of brisket. Let's start with the miss, I asked for fatty brisket and got mostly lean. That's not a small detail, it's kind of the whole point. The lean brisket lands around a 6, solid enough but lacking the richness you want. The few fatty pieces we did get were much better, around an 8, and honestly would be pushing a 9.5 if they were served hot. The ribs are where things get frustrating. Flavor, great. Texture, exactly what you want. But they came out warm, not hot, and that matters. If these ribs were served properly hot, they're easily a 10. As is, they drop to about a 7, which feels like a missed opportunity more than anything else. Cole slaw was a surprise standout, fresh, balanced, easy 9. The baked beans were pretty good as well, maybe slightly sweeter than my taste, but still solid, an easy 8. Service was genuinely good. At one point my dad mentioned needing silverware, and a staff member overheard and brought it over without us asking again. Small moment, but it stuck. All in, this is a place that's very close to being excellent but misses on execution in ways that are hard to ignore, especially at around $130 for two people. If I could land at a 3.5, I would. But factoring in value, this comes out to 3 stars.
The wait is well worth it! We had about a 30 minute wait to get to the counter to order but the staff was really kind and food comes out as you order so its a smooth operation. We got a couple of mixed meat plates and the daily special which was a beef rib with a couple of different sides. The restaurant does fill up quickly so even though there is lots of seating inside and some on the outside patio, it may be hard for groups over 6 to sit together. They do have high chairs for babies and the staff work hard to keep the restaurant clean. Overall our favorites were the beef rib, sausage, Brussels sprouts and mac n cheese!
This place does get pretty busy and the parking can be challenging. They have this window where you can see the staff seasoning the meats. All of the staff were friendly and upkeep the place really well. They give out samples of the brisket at the counter which i thought was neat. They had moist brisket, turkey, banh mi, sausage, and more. The variety of the menu is pretty unique for a bbq place. The inside is very spacious compared to other bbq places. They even had a bar around the corner. I tried the jalapeño sausage which had a little kick to it and I think some cheese. Then I tried the moist brisket and that was fatty and juicy. The ribs were also pretty soft and had a crispy outer layer. The Brussels sprouts were nicely cooked but not too heavy on flavor. The corn pudding was basically like a corn bread but with pieces of corn in it and tasted a little milky and soft. I would definitely recommend this place for their brisket.
My review..My opinion..IJS... Visiting Houston saw the reviews and decided to stop by.. Everything was good..BBQ sauce was a bit off for my taste, but overall good.. Beans, Mac just ok.. Not my usually soul food BBQ. But a gave a 4 due to more commercial than down home Q. If you know you know.. My review.. My opinion..IJS.. Just a girl that loves good food!!
Before you even step into Truth BBQ, you get a whiff of that smoky goodness that immediately makes your mouth water. We arrived around 4:45 on a weekday & there was already a line forming--always a good sign. We ordered the 2-meat plate (brisket & pork ribs, w/ mac & cheese & corn pudding) annnnnnnd then added another 1/2 lb of brisket plus the tater tot casserole & brussels sprouts because life's short and everything's bigger in Texas. My mama always said my eyes are bigger than my stomach... and she was right. I left in a full-on food coma for many hours. The 2-meat plate alone (especially with sides) is more than enough to share for two. Ambiance is nice and clean. There's outdoor seatings & they have everything you need. Verdict: they take their BBQ seriously. The brisket was tender, melt-in-your-mouth good, and the ribs had a deeper, smokier flavor. I'd probably pass on the mac & cheese next time, but the rest of the sides were solid. The tater tot casserole is a must, & the brussel sprouts were surprisingly really good--plus it makes you feel better like you got yo veggies in. 4.5 stars for me. Would be nice to have some more side veggie options & the ability to double the same type of protein for the 3 meat plate. The brisket was a tad on the dry side. Overall solid spot!
Coming to Texas, I definitely needed to get my share of bbq! I heard about Truth in Houston and I came here on a weekday just before it opened at 11 am. It already had a line by the time I got there, but the line moved fast and there was a decent amount of seating. I had their 3 meat and 2 sides platter. For the meats, I had their brisket, pork rib, and pepper jack sausage. The meats were seasoned as I didn't even bother using ant sauce! For the sides, I had tater tot casserole and potato salad. I've had tater tots but The tater tot casserole was a huge highlight for me as I don't think I've had that before!
The line was out the door when we came by on a Sunday afternoon, but we decided to wait b/c when in Houston, we had to try this spot. My husband and I split the 3 meat plate with ribs, brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage, tater tot casserole, mac & cheese, & we got a side of Brussels. Everything was delicious but the brisket was my fav. Worth the wait!
WOAH so delicious. My friends and I waited on line for probably 45 minutes on Valentine's Day AND in the pouring rain (there is a cover for the patio/outside line area so we were fine). I'd still say worth the wait. The food is prepared quickly once you get to the front of the line. with the meat freshly brought out and the sides at the counter, ready to be scooped into the serving size. The brisket was very good, although I'm not typically the biggest beef fan. Dare I say the turkey meat was the the best turkey Ive ever had in my life??? I had no idea barbecued turkey would be this good. wow. All the sides were delicious; Truth BBQ was great and I highly recommend for anyone visiting Houston!
Truth be told, Truth BBQ was just okay. Maybe you BBQ aficionados just have a different palate than myself, and that's okay, but I personally couldn't justify the 40 min wait. I was super disappointed that beef ribs are Saturday only! BOOOO! While you wait, they do give you a little sample of brisket once you make it to the front. The sample was super tender, so we ordered a 2 meat plate with brisket and pork ribs, as well as an additional 1 meat plate for extra brisket. Each plate comes with 2 sides, 2 slices of bread, and they also give you sides of pickles, pickled red onions, and pickled veggies. I really loved how colorful and full all the sides made the plate. Pickles are a nice way to cleanse the palate between bites! I personally do not care for sliced bread that isn't toasted, however these were very soft and fluffy, so my daughter ate one whole one. Our sides of choice were the tater tot casserole, corn pudding (basically a creamed corn casserole), potato salad, and baked beans. The sides are where it's at! The selection of sides is what brought me to Truth over all the other BBQ spots in the first place, so I was happy they didn't disappoint. Both the tater tot casserole and corn are a bit mushy, but I personally love that texture. The baked beans were soft and sweet, and the perfect complement to the other savory potato sides. BTW The potato salad gets topped with bacon bits! I asked the man serving the pickles if I could have a little extra bacon, which he wasn't stingy about at all, so I def appreciate the customer service! The pork ribs were tender but nothing to write home about. The brisket was super tender where the fat was, but pretty dry on the bottom half. They have 3 bbq sauces on the table (brown, yellow, white) and I didn't care for any of them :( Their drink selection is large, ranging from fountain drinks to lemonades to frescas. The mango fresca was my fav, followed by the strawberry watermelon! There were people walking around clearing the trays off tables, as well as a man walking around checking in with the customers and asking how things were. Everyone we met with was nice and friendly, and we appreciated the vibes. Right before you pay, there is a whole case of cakes and desserts. The cake slices are COLOSSAL so of course I had to get two to try lol Both the chocolate cake and carrot cake were bomb! The cake itself is so moist! I am a carrot cake girly and lemme tell you, I've had my fair share of carrot cakes. This one is by far one of the best I've ever tried! The cream cheese frosting actually has a cream cheese taste! It's smooth and slightly tangy. Absolute perfection. The cake itself has hella chopped nuts and carrots but no raisins, coconut shreds or pineapple pieces. Just the way I like it! The chocolate cake was also good, but I'm just not a chocolate girl the way my daughter is. With a glass of ice cold milk though, I would demolish that thing. Overall the meats wouldn't bring me back, but the cake would! Lucky for me, there's a separate door just for the bakery if that's all you're looking to get.
That burn't ends that they give away as a taster, DAMN THAT'S GOOD! Sell me that!! Ok, I normally don't give out 5 stars but this place is great! There was a little bit of a wait for us to get in but the staff behind the line was super friendly and let us try some of the meats, THANKS! Brisket was GOOD. I couldn't even pick it up with my fork because it kept falling apart. But dude.... The sides kept up with the meat! They were so good!!! Especially that Tator one! I have regrets I didn't get the big quart of that! Vibe and atmosphere was super chill. Probably because everyone was so happy enjoying their amazing food. That dude manning the tables was SO NICE! Would I go back? Hell yeah! This is my top spot for BBQ right now. I'm glad they are so far away. My waist line is appreciative of that. Can't wait to go back.

What can be said about Truth that hasn't already been said? Truth is the epitome of good ol' Texas BBQ. Its has always been popular since their inception a while back and with the Michelin recognition and multiple spotlight videos from Eater and Bon Appetit on Youtube, this place is getting pretty well known. Like many great things in life, you'll have to wait. Particularly since we went on the day after their Eater video surfaced on YouTube. We waited for 1 hour in line before we got to order. The wait wasn't too long and we went in late November so temperature was comfy. During the wait, you got things to look at such as an open window to their smoker room, their outdoor patio where they store all their wood and also a window to watch their cooks trim brisket. All these pass the time away of anticipation. We got the Whole Shebang for $95. This can easily feed 3-4 people so it really is worth it. It consists of five 1/2 half lb of meats each (Brisket, Sausage, Ribs, Turkey, Pulled Pork) and 4 heaping amounts of sides. My palate isn't sophisticated enough to tell the difference of Truth BBQ to other highly acclaimed BBQ places, but I know all of their meats are great with smoky and tendered flavors! Particularly with their sauces at the table. Their sides are where they really shine at, since they mix traditional with a little more daring flavors, like tattertot casserole and their cornbread pudding. Both of these are our favorites. We also got their delicious Brussel sprouts and their spin on mac and cheese. Their pickled onions, jalapenos and pickles are all homemade and SO SO SO delicious. NGL I'm more excited about these side flavors than the sides. Seating is plenty and they have a wait staff that takes care of yall really well. If you're in Houston and want some good classic bbq with modern comforts. This is absolutely the best place to be. However just be aware of limited parking and long lines with huge wait times. read more

The truth is truth is a winner. Very delicious finger licking mouth smacking barbecue tons of flavors busting like a firecracker in your mouth. Very good flavor. Good taste brisket was moist. Soft tasty delicious inside and outside. Best of the barbecue atmosphere. Inside is awesome decoration. Excellent service very good Now don't read just go and eat that lovely delicious barbecue you have to have that taste in your mouth. Enjoy you won't be disappointed. It's worth it. read more
Truth is open for dinner from 5 to 8pm only and there was a good sized line when we got there around 5:30pm. There's plenty of parking in the lot and nearby. Unfortunately they ran out of sausage before we got to order. All the meats (brisket, pork ribs and pulled pork) were tender and not too fatty. All the sides were good too which is always a plus for BBQ restaurants. They have a large dining room with plenty of seating so no need to stress around finding a place to sit after the long line. The banana pudding really finished off the meal. Truth is definitely gonna be our recommendation for BBQ in Houston. read more

Yum! First, it's highly recommended that you order curbside the day before you go and take it to go. Parking is brutal everywhere in the area. If you're lucky enough to find parking the line to eat in is just as brutal, if not worse. Does the food make up for it? Yes. But it's still recommended to order curbside. We tried a little of everything and not one bite disappointed. We ordered on Friday for Saturday pickup and ordered the beef rib (offered Saturday only) and it was by far the most delicious beef rib EVER. We also ordered the Jalapeño Cheddar sausage which we gave an A+. Pork ribs were fantastic. Pulled pork was also to die for. But the turkey was out of this world. The smoky taste was just delightful. Wow. Don't leave the turkey out of your order, I promise, you won't regret it. The sides... The corn pudding is ridiculous good. It's soo delicious and I don't usually eat corn. The tater tot casserole is phenomenal. Mac n cheese is 3/5. The pickled onions and house-made pickles are also a must. When I picked up my order, it was packed inside. My only regret is not ordering dessert. I took a pic of the dessert case tho. Overall - A+. These guys know their shit! read more
What a great BBQ spot. Honestly one of the best around. There initially was a wait but that's expected. The restaurant itself was very large and had plenty of seating as well as a self serve beverage area. The staff was attentive and very friendly. As someone visiting would, we ordered everything including the pulled pork, ribs, brisket, Mac n cheese and Brussels sprouts. Our friends also ordered a huge tray and we sampled almost everything except for the sausages. These were sold out when we got there so definitely recommend getting there early if you can. Can't wait to come back and try those. The bbq itself was very tasty and very lean. We appreciated that unlike some other bbq spots, there wasn't a ton of fat on the meat but rather just enough. The best bbq in Houston! I've been here twice before. There is always a line, but they give you water while you're in line and it is worth the wait. You can buy set plates or try a variety depending on weight. The brisket and sausage are excellent. The pork is too but I recommend instead the ribs. It is a bit loud inside but you know people are just having good conversation. We were told on the weekends they have chicken which would be good to try! read more

Jerry and everyone who was working today was awesome!! Sucks I didn't get all their names. The bartender made me a wonderful margarita and the man cutting the meats helped me with figure out what to get. The lady who was at cash register offered amazing customer service. Food was amazing!! Where do I start? This place is OFF THE CHAIN!! Must be THE best brisket I've ever eaten!! This stuff is like a meat cotton candy!! Just absolutely melted in my mouth! The jalapeño cheddar sausage was about average, good, but no comparison to the brisket! While standing in line to get there and place your order you get to watch this chick cutting meat, she is obviously an expert at this, she was unbelievable to watch!! The typical BBQ joint atmosphere, was certainly enjoyable as always too! I can't wait to get back in the area to try it again!! read more

Seen this place on YouTube. We came here to try it out with all the hype it had. But what a very disappointing day. We spent about $85 for 2 trays. The meat was a 7/10. Not moist or tender. More on the dry side. The best 2 things honestly on my plate was the Brussels sprouts and the bake beans. The rest very mediocre Definitely a overrated "hyped" place. Got a pickup order for a two meat combo with 2 sides. The brisket was sooo soft, juicy and easy to cut through. Would 10/10 recommend. I didn't enjoy the sausage as much and it was a little tough to chew. Their baked beans was surprisingly good- sweet and tangy. Their tater tot casserole was so hearty- cheesy, with crisped edges. They also give extras so you literally get so much pickled onions, pickles, more bread and barbecue sauce. Their line is long for a reason! read more

Honestly, delicious. Great food, fast line, clean place plenty of room. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Sides are generous portions! We did 1 pound brisket, 1 pound of ribs, and a sausage link. Single size Mac, single Brussels, and a single coleslaw. Comes with pickles, bread jalapeños and onions. Two adults and 1 kid and we had leftovers! read more

Truth is one of the best, if not the best, BBQ joints we have had in Houston so far! We have tried their meats at the restaurant, served to-go, and even as leftovers, and we have been consistently impressed by the quality of their meats and sides. Vibe: We arrived on a Thursday 15 minutes before it opened and there was already a line. Parking is a bit difficult, but manageable if you arrive early (which you should do to avoid even longer wait times). We waited 30-45 minutes before entering. The interior is rustic and very spacious with lots of seating. This was in early 2024. Service: Fast and smooth, employees are helpful and let you sample some of the meats before ordering! Food: For meats, we ordered brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, house and pepper jack sausages. For sides, we ordered the brussel sprouts, corn pudding, tater tot casserole, asparagus, and Mac n cheese. Honestly, every single food item was extraordinarily delicious and exactly what you look for in the best BBQ spot. Brisket, pork ribs, and beef ribs withstand their weight but are gently pull apart tender. The ribs are packed with meat, and the flavor is simple but extremely flavorful and smoky. All the meats are juicy, not dry. All the sides are so good that they can stand on their own and I would be happy with any of them, but the exemplary stand outs are corn pudding and brussel sprouts. Overall, Truth is a top tier BBQ joint with incredible meats and exemplary sides that are well worth the wait! Give it a try for a stellar Texas BBQ experience while in Houston. Tell you the truth, nothing much was memorable. Its been on my list for a long time. I come to work in all Texas major cities twice a month, been to probably 50 joints in all of Texas, and yes Texas style brisket bbq is my favorite. Meh at best here. I can do better on my Traeger. Beef ribs are only on Saturday, nowhere on their menu or any special board/sign had mentioned beef ribs, probably reason I didn't see anyone order it but us. It was overcooked at the corners, and bland with dry meat. Brisket moist, was tender yes, but almost zero smoke flavors, weak smoke ring. And sliced too thin from the point. Sausages, the most boring, the cheddar wasn't melted, maybe it coagulated again being out, maybe shouldn't leave all the meats on the cutting board too long. Sausages were weak, rather smoke some chicken apple from Aidells. Pork ribs had a hint of smoke, salt flavor, not much else happening. The sides, hmmm corn pudding ok, rest meh. Probably best were the beans, it tastes like the sweet can beans, England style. I like that. Didn't care for any of the sauces, where's the spicy one? Why do we have white bbq sauce in Texas? Stick to Pinkerton's, best in Houston and San Antonio IMO. Try their pork ribs, cherrywood, cherry glazed, smoked perfect to just fall off with a bite. And they're cheaper by the pound on all the meats. I even prefer Rudy's over Truth. Sorry, wanted to like you, just like I wanted to like Black's in Austin. read more
The staff is quick and efficient. The ribs are tender and juicy. The brisket was not as tender. However the corn bread and tater tots were delicious! The pulled pork was tender but on the salty and dryer side. The Mac and cheese and sausage were just ok as well. The restaurant is very clean and welcoming. read more

As with any popular bbq spots, be prepared to wait. I came for around 11:45 on a Tuesday, and the line pretty much wrapped out the door. The wait was about 40 minutes, which was before I got to order, and there was a good amount seating available after I got my food. I ordered the 2 meat plate which came with 2 proteins and 2 sides. I chose brisket, pork ribs, corn pudding, and Brussel sprouts. The brisket tasted like they should've , nothing special about it. I really liked the pork ribs, they were super tender with a good amount of fat on them, where you could take one bite and the rest of meat falls off the bone after that. It was also seasoned very well. My favorite part of the meal was the corn pudding and the brussels sprouts that everybody is raving about, definitely worth returning for. Lastly the service was also very good, overall giving the restaurant a welcoming vibe. read more
Truth is, I think this is some of the best barbecue I've had in Houston in a long time! I've heard lots of hype around this place, and finally had the chance bring an out of towner to try it out. There aren't many solid barbecue spots within the loop, but this is definitely THE one to go to. We came around 3pm on a Sunday, thinking that this would be late enough in the day to where there's no line. Wrong. There was still very much a line, however it moved quickly and we got to the front within 35 minutes. I'm sure it is way longer during peak lunch time. I ordered a 3 meat plate with brisket, pork ribs, and spicy pepperjack sausage. For my 2 sides I got the tater tot casserole and brussels sprouts. At $30, this is a decent value for the amount of food you get. This one meal left me good for a whole day - you can easily split it or bring home leftovers for 2 meals. The brisket was SO MOIST. Some of the best brisket I've ever had. Just the right amount of fattiness to keep it juicy, but still a lot of meat. The pork ribs literally fell off the bone. The marinade was tangy and made these ribs to die for. And finally the sausage - normally when I think bbq, sausage is more of an afterthought. But this spicy pepperjack one was so good - given the name, it had a kick to it but it was not excessively spicy. The small amounts of cheese in it added to the texture. I am still thinking about this sausage two weeks later. ;) The tater tot casserole was so good. Think mashed potatoes but with actual tater tots and extra cheese. I'm going to have to figure out how to make this one at home so that I can share it for parties and dinner nights! The brussels sprouts were also amazing. They were cooked in a semi-sweet glaze and had a tangy flavor to them as well. No sprout was undercooked - each leaf had a crunch to it; I'm thinking they may have flash fried these brussels sprouts. The folks behind the counter are super friendly and struck up brief conversation with us as they were cutting our meat and assembling the plates. There is a steady crowd in the open-seating dining area, but finding a table wasn't an issue for us. Yes, Truth is the truth! I am going to keep this one in my back pocket for when more out of towners come to visit. It's nearby, so I don't have to drive far fortunately. I was torn on which two sides to pick, so if not for the meats (lol), I'll def be coming back to try more of those tasty sides. read more

If your in the Houston area and want food texas BBQ, come too Truth BBQ, this is my third visit this year and wish I would of found it sooner. The line is usually out the door but moved quickly as the service is top notch. Usually not a turkey person but, the turkey here is delicious. Always got to get the brisket, and would definitely recommend the jalapeno cheddar sausage. I've tried most of there side but highly recommend the tater tot casserole, baked beans, and Mac n cheese. I didn't care for the coleslaw as it was apple cider vinegar based, same for the house pickles. read more

I wanted to like this place since we didn't have to stand in line very long. We each got the two meat plate and the price for portion ratio was not what I expected. $75 for that and two drinks seemed a bit high. The meat and most sides were really cold and the Brussels didn't have any flavor. I think it's because they scoop the sides from a container and just pull the meat from a rack to serve. I did enjoy the bottled sauces, they helped a lot. Went on a Saturday early evening and the crowd was not bad. I wouldn't ever wait more than 15 minutes in a line for this and probably won't be back. read more
I found this place when looking for the best barbecue in Houston. The review said that there would be a line starting early in the morning, and that was accurate! I arrived at 10:40 AM for an 11:00 AM opening and there was already about 30 people in line. By the time the restaurant opened at 11, there was at least 60 people in line. Once you get into the restaurant, you order at the counter. The person cutting the meat was very friendly and offered a variety of suggestions based on the fact that it was my first time visiting. The food was good. The meat was tender and juicy. The sides were flavorful and fresh. I wish there was an option on the menu that allowed you to get smaller portions but more variety. I would've loved to try more things, but simply couldn't justify the amount of food that I'd be wasting. If you are visiting with a friend, a three meat plate is plenty for two people. I was there by myself and only ate about 30 to 40% of what you see pictured in this review. Overall, a fine experience I would recommend visiting when you're in town. Just know that the wine is going to be long and this is going to take up a large portion of your day if you are not there and in line early before the door is open. read more
We got there on a Sunday right at 11 and got to order at about 12, so the line moves pretty slow. We weren't that far out the door when we got into line. All of the employees are such a delight, which was such a pleasant interaction after waiting so long. The food: I know this is blasphemy, but I'd 100% skip the brisket; it was the weakest part of everything we ordered. The flavor was good but even half of the fatty brisket portion was pretty firm and dry. The real stand-outs for meat: spicy pepperjack sausage & ribs. We saw the turkey breast that lookes super juicy but didn't try and will come back to. Sides: corn pudding (this surprised me), collard greens, and mac (mac was good not great but still worth getting). The brussels were also good. My friend got the tater tot casserole and said it was really good. Their complimentary homemade pickled veggies & jalapeños were also stellar. Wow wow wow! I cannot believe I only came across this bbq place just recently. Apparently there would be long lines out the door for this place, and they were right bc we were waiting about 20-30 min(?), honestly not too bad! I missed Terry Blacks, and Franklin's bbq in Austin, and this just brought that memory back to me!! They go by weight when ordering. I ended up getting the 2 meat plate which comes w/ 2 sides and slices of bread for $28. Honestly the whole meal was already good enough for me- I ended up boxing it home bc I was too full (lol!) The meal was 10/10 so freaking good!! Surprisingly, the sides were really good, my fav was the brussel sprouts! The brisket was tender and had a good seasoning to it, I would come back for that brisket alone. the ribs were delicious too, but can we talk about those sauces??! Ordered the She-bang - 1/2# of each meat with four sides: Mac & cheese, tator tot casserole, brussel sprouts and corn casserole. Loved trying it all. There's sauces at the table but you won't need them, the met is already perfectly seasoned. The smokers are fun the watch while waiting in line - it moves quickly. The banana pudding is fantastic, so save some room for dessert or grab a cup for at home. The service was impressive, the location was clean. Everybody said if you wanted to get barbecue, you gotta go to truth barbecue. After our plane landed this was our first stop. Arrived around mid afternoon and there was a line out the door however, the line wasn't too long, abruptly 20 minute wait. Walking in you can smell the barbecue and see the staff lovingly prepare Food for all the guests. He shows the brisket, beef rib, turkey. Oh and also the pork ribs. I would say the brisket is very well done here. It is trimmed almost like competition style. The beef rib, which is like a short rib dino rib was a little bit overcooked and dry so didn't love it as much, but the turkey was amazingly good. More importantly, I think their size really shine here from the tater tot casserole to the corn pudding. I would highly recommend this place for barbecue. read more
Came in for a second time tonight on a Thursday evening around 6:30. To my surprise, there was no line. Our party ordered the Texas Trinity. We had ordered the corn pudding but got Mac n cheese instead, which we had to send back. And sadly, the brisket was too dry. Although the sides were good, I'm here for the meats, but today it was just mid. At least I didn't wait to wait an hour in line like when I went for lunch one time. To have to drive across town through some terrible traffic, I'm joy so sure I will be back anytime soon. read more

I expected this place to be good when (1) there was an hour wait with line out the door and (2) I saw them trimming the fat off the brisket as we waited. Once inside and having ordered from a cafeteria style line, the BBQ was really good. Sausage skin was a bit chewy tough, but the brisket was tender and flavorful. Sides of slaw and potato salad delicious. Fountain drinks are unlimited. Seating is plentiful and what you might expect in a BBQ joint. The manager (and his daughter - it was bring your daughter to work day) were caring and friendly, asking what we needed, if anything. I liked that. Pro tip: Go early to avoid long lines. Food was so good the brisket and turkey were perfect the sides were also very good Mac n cheese was a little on the salty side but still good! Tried the tatertot casserole and loved it. The line is intimidating but since the food is already made it goes pretty quick. As soon as we got our food we found a table right away and enjoyed a family friendly atmosphere. Ok I get the hype!! Well deserved recognition as a top BBQ spot. Arrived 30 minutes early and easily got a parking spot (they have an extra lot but both lots weee full when we left). People kind of sit in their cars waiting until they notice someone get out and start the line so don't be shy and go ahead and get in line! It's shaded right in front of the entrance and they even put out water and cups. Ended up being 2nd in line! The staff was really nice, they were chatting while slicing up meats. Two 2 meat plates with 3 drinks was about $75-80. They slice and weigh your order in front of you! Brisket- the reason to come here, period. Incredible texture and flavor, super fatty and juicy. Well seasoned. Best I've had! Pork ribs- a drier rib, not covered in sauce but plenty of sauce on the table to try if that's your vibe! Sausage- tried jalapeño cheddar and really liked it!! Cheese was oozing. Brussel sprouts- everyone's favorite side! A little sweet, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside Citrus kale salad- very refreshing! Liked the pieces of citrus fruits, cut through the fattiness of the meat. Mac and cheese- really solid, strong cheddar flavor. Love the twirly noodles and breadcrumbs Tater tot casserole- my personal favorite, the tater tots become soft but still maintain their crisp! Plates come with pickles, pickled onions, and jalapeños, all of which are lovely additions and help to cut through the fattiness of the rest of the meal. Visiting from LA, and after doing my own research (plus getting quite a few local recommendations), I had to check out Truth Barbecue. Let me just say - the wait in line was absolutely worth it! The meat is incredibly tender, and the sausage and brisket are a must. Surprisingly, my favorite sides were the Brussels sprouts, corn pudding and the tater tot casserole- last two, items I'd never had before, but both were phenomenal. On top of the food, the service was so warm and hospitable. Big shout-out to Jerry for being so attentive and making me feel especially welcome. Pro tip: don't be intimidated by the line. It moves quickly, and what's waiting at the end is more than worth it. read more

Originally from Houston but currently living in NJ, where there is no bbq. It's pretty sad. So on one of my regular visits back home I had to stop by truths and get a little bit of everything. The corn pudding is so addicting, the tater tot casserole could have a little less salt. The meats, deeelicious. Moist, flavorful and doesn't need any sauce however there is bbq sauce on the table is you want which the basic one is good. Now if you know bbq, you know a good pickle is required. The acidity cuts the fat and heaviness of the meat and is a perfect pairing. And bbq should always be served with bread... not toasted, not cornbread not a roll. Sliced white or potato bread is acceptable as well. Overall solid place, oh and be prepared to stand in a line. We're serious about our bbq. read more
Arrive early and plan to stand in line for a good while. BBQ here is excellent. They are very traditional with the prep - mostly seems to be flavored with salt and pepper. The meat speaks for itself though there are a few sauces available at the tables to try. Their brisket has excellent bark and flavor but could have been slightly less dry. Pork ribs are also great. We waited about 30 minutes on a Friday. Got there 15 mins before open. Wasn't bad at all.

The dining room was only closed for 2 months last year. It's been open ever since.
