Really good fried chicken. AND the Margaritas are good and strong! I enjoyed the mac and cheese while the greens weren't bad but could've used a little more seasoning. Parking can get full but there's a lot behind the building too. Will definitely go back and try happy hour.
When we arrived the restaurant was pretty busy because the FIFA game was airing. The vibr was pretty lively... large TVs are in various places on the wall. We were greeted right away and seated immediately near the bar The bartender was our server... he was extremely kind and knowledgeable about the menu... great service. It was my first visit so my husband who had been there before requested the sampler of sides and a tester of the chicken (heat tester)... this is absolutely genius! A great way to try the food before ordering. We ordered the half chicken (painless heat level), greens,beans and mac & cheese. It was really good! And for the dessert, the pecas chocolate toffee pie... this was delicious!! It was also very affordable. Thank you for a great experience!
First time here we met with friends. It was nice, the environment was laid back the service was also good! The food was really appealing, i wish there was more sauce choices, along with the fries they were tasty but too thin for our preference. Only negative input is that the the restrooms required cleaning.
Came here with a friend before going climbing at Momentum! I always drive past it, so I'm glad we were able to give it a try; we had to carpool, though, since the parking situation is fickle. Tumble 22 did NOT skip out on the portions, cause tell me why 8-piece chicken nuggets nearly obliterate me. Service was also friendly and quick! The orders came with a slice of bread that was placed under the chicken; overall, the chicken was prepared well & the quality was evident! I wish the bread had been provided separately, because after a while, the chicken made it soggy, so it deterred me from eating it. They had a unique "Korean" version of their chicken, marinated in spicy Gochujang sauce, and I ordered the Honey Mustard as my dip. While it was delicious, it was a bit salty, so next time I come, I wouldn't get the Korean version. They also had unique Szechuan fries that I'd love to try!
Tumble 22 is a chain fried chicken / hot chicken sandwich restaurant. This location is right on Washington and Houston. It's a bit difficult to get in and out of the parking lot onto the street. The menu is very simple and fast food esque; chicken sandwiches, tenders, and fries / sides. The sandwich was fairly good sized and comes with one side. The chicken itself was a bit bland; the cole slaw out of everything was well seasoned and had good flavor. The fries are the typical frozen shoe string fries. Service is okay; again, this spot borders on a fast food restaurant so it's quite simple service. Overall, it's okay; the chicken isn't spectacular but it's a step above Canes or Laynes in some ways but flavor wise also missing something special.
Tupelo Hot Honey Chicken Sando was the best chicken I've had in a very long time. I got the deviled eggs to start with the candied bacon, and they were DEElicious. Creamy and sweet. The bacon was not chewy, but the right texture to bite through for a two-bite egg. I wasn't sure about my side item, but ended up getting the cole slaw after a small taste. It was rich, creamy, and fresh. The sandwich was thick, juicy, sweet, and crunchy! The pickles and the mango slaw was there in just the right amount to balance the heat. The bun was soft and pillowy and held everything together, even if it was drippy. I will be thinking of this sandwich for a long time to come. Service was friendly and quick. The booth and the place were really cute and modern. This seems to be a popular place, so beware that there might be big, loud parties going on. I would come back here, though, and bring my drinking friends as their bar looked amazing. I took home a slice of chocolate pecan toffee pie because I couldn't pass up fresh pie. It was nutty and hearty.x I was expecting more goo, but it was still very tasty and fresh.

We got hungry after the Chinese Lunar Year celebrations and been eating Chinese food for the past several days. We wanted something different than that. We arrived around 4:30 PM right before the rush hour Tuesday. My husband and I were here two weeks ago with some friends. I loved their fried chicken! So, I wanted to take my family here to let them see how good their food is. As we were walking my elderly parents around the corner to the door, Dave was already there holding the door open for us. It was a very nice gesture and much appreciated. The dang hot fried chicken is my go to. If you've had Gus's fried chicken and think that's the best then you haven't had the best until you've tried Tumble 22's! You have traditional then 5 different hot levels to choose from hot to stupid hot based on the type of pepper ranging from jalapeño to ghost pepper!! Gus's has zero spice levels! I promise you won't be disappointed with the perfection of spice, crispness to juiciness! It's my new favorite fried chicken spot! The prices are also cheaper than Gus's. I promise you won't be disappointed!
Visiting Houston from Baton Rouge and our teenager wanted to try the "best chicken tenders". Tumble 22 was a win for all of us. The manager, David, heard it was our first visit and sent us a first time sampler to try which was perfect to help us all choose our favorites. Every side was like a better version of normal coleslaw, or regular Mac and Cheese, or normal broccoli salad. The spice levels were what really suited all our tastes well. Cool vibes, easy location from our downtown hotel to uber over, and worth every calorie!

After which, noted that there were several parties waiting by the door. The servers are very attentive, orders and drink refills were quick. We ordered: * Heavenly eggs - heat level mild, comes 5 per order, love the candied bacon on this dish * Ceasar salad w/chicken bites - who knew cranberries and pumpkin seeds would taste so good on a Ceasar salad?! * 1/4 dark - hot heat level, perfect heat level for me, don't think I could take it any hotter. The chicken is crispy, hot in temperature, and so juicy! * 1/2 mixed - even the breast piece is juicy and tasty! * Mac & cheese side - highly recommend, cheesy! * French fries - ordered it normal, didn't want to try the fancy ones on my first visit. Crispy and fresh, no complaints. The parking was rough. I had to circle around the pits 4 times before I finally landed a spot. And they're tight so I recommend ride share to get here if you can. I can't wait to come back to try their pies and milkshakes!
Traveling all day from Seattle to Houston. 2 hour line for the rental car. After checking into the hotel, this was my first meal of the day and it didn't disappoint. Ari, our server, girl you're a gem. She executed that balance of being attentive without making anything feel rushed or like she was hovering. She recommend the "dang hot" spice level and it was on point. The chicken was piping hot, seasoned well, and spicy. Loved the Mac and cheese and greens. We got the Szechuan fries, which were just ok for me, but enjoyed the crispiness of the fries. The PB & chocolate pie was so good, too. Just the right amount of peanut butteriness and chocolate. Perfect harmony. If I lived here, I know I would eat here all the time. Delicious food, good prices, amazing service. I couldn't have asked for more after such a long day of traveling.
Made to perfection every single time. I've been to this location atleast 10 times and they have no missed once. Music is great. Drinks are amazing. Service is off the charts. The chef Brought my kiddos Easter eggs and watched them open them. You can tell they really care here. Love tumble.

So our normal place to go get good fried chicken closed. So we were looking for a new place that would have very crispy. Very delicious fried chicken. We looked up family style chicken so we could have chicken and some sides and be able to sit down and eat and we stumbled upon Tumble 22. Let me tell you we were not disappointed. It's here in the Heights off of Houston Avenue and Washington. And we were greeted and seated immediately. Our server Zeid (so?!) brought our new little server in training Johan and once we went over the menu and decided what we wanted to do for appetizers we ordered the heavenly deviled eggs. Do not pass that up - they are heavenly. The devil part is so good and the bacon on top absolutely delicious. And they came out right away. So we ordered the 1/2 mix. That came with a large breast and thigh and a drumstick and a wing. You get two sides with it which we ordered the collard greens and the mac & cheese. Then it came with cute little bread and butter pickles stuck on top of it. That chicken was so crispy and so hot because it came right out of the fire. And the collard greens were very good. They had turkey in them and just all kinds of stuff. The mac & cheese was really creamy very good. And it was enough for both of us to share. And it was only $17. I could not believe it. We like to always try a little bit of everything. So there are different levels of heat you can get on your chicken and we just got the regular traditional. But next time I think we're gonna try the one up with the little jalapeño in it. So then for dessert, my husband got the chocolate pecan toffee pie. And it is Chuck full of pecans and toffee and chocolate in there. It came out cold and it was delicious. I got the peanut butter chocolate mousse pie. But I got that to go, so I'll let you know later how that is, but it looked delicious. So we had a lemonade which was freshly made and tea and that large meal of chicken and sides and two desserts and our appetizer and it was only $45. . I'll tell you what if you want to have a great meal not expensive they've got kids menus that are a lot less because kids tend to waste so they're small enough that I think my grandkids would eat them with no problem. Ordered from here through Door Dash for the first time and was very disappointed. Part of the order was missing but aside from that the food was not good. Chicken tenders- zero flavor Southern Chicken sandwich- zero flavor Heavenly Eggs- gross! Key lime pie- bitter as hell!! read more

First time trying and will definitely be back! I got the 1/2 chicken with Mac and cheese. Chicken was super fresh and crispy, Macaroni was delicious! David helped me order and was super attentive and answered all my questions flawlessly read more
Absolutely one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. Not a doubt in my mind. Add in some amazing mac and cheese, crispy shoestring french fries, and a great selection of cold beverages... you're well on your way to your next big addiction. The staff at Tumble 22 are happy to greet you with a smile and answer any questions you may have about the menu. The menu is built to allow you to effectively build your own custom meal with individual sandwiches and sides. Nothing was disappointing. The restaurant itself was well laid out, reasonably bright and open. There was a great bar as well with a couple TV's showing the college football games. Overall this was a great experience and I'm looking forward to my next visit already. read more
Fantastic chicken. Their ranch is also amazing. The spice levels are legitimately spicy the higher you get. And their mac and cheese?? DIVINE. Excellent rec from our server. Will be back! HOWEVER. The location of this place is a PAIN. Next to an extremely busy road you'd need to make an unprotected left turn. And good luck getting Houston drivers to make room out of the kindness in their hearts. If you take the back roads, there's a train track. And our luck was terrible bc in avoiding the busy road, we ran into a giant train crossing. It took us 20 minutes of traffic to get here and we live super close. So be mindful. The food and vibes are worth it. Just don't go during rush hour dinner (even on weekdays)!! It's near a police station so you'll probably see cops and firefighters eating here too. read more

I love fried chicken - always have from those days growing up when Popeye's still served dirty rice. I also love hot chicken since I had Hattie B's in Nashville. My first introduction to Tumble 22 was for a friend's birthday. We were out and still hungry, so we went here. Even better that it's close to home. Parking is limited to under 20 spots - on the side and towards Center Street which is dimly lit at night. The Houston Ave. location has plenty of table seating and a large bar area. Service was great for a group of six people. We asked our server if the manager could sing happy birthday for our friend. He actually came out, brought a Texas pecan pie and we all sang. It was good, but I ordered the chocolate cream pie which was phenomenal. I ordered dirty fries which had pulled white chicken, queso and pickles. It was ok, but I thought the chicken was a little dry cut up, and the fries weren't that great. Would work better with fat fries than skinny with all the toppings. Since then, I've had their chicken bites and mac-n-cheese at an event at the zoo for Feasts with the Beasts. The Mac-n-cheese was so memorable that I also ordered twice from the Houston Ave. location. This time I tried the 2 pc boneless thighs and then 1/4 dark and upgraded for two thighs instead of a thigh and leg. The hot was good enough for me and had great flavor. I like spicy chicken or spicy food in general but not at the expense of losing my taste and having everything taste bitter. The bread it comes with gets soaked in that spicy oil. I'm not a fan of the bread-n-butter pickle because it's sweet. I prefer sour pickles. I highly recommend the dark meat over white. The chicken was hot, juicy and had crispy skin. The 1/4 dark bone-in thigh was large, and they didn't skimp on the size when I upgraded the leg for it. The boneless thighs were just as good even though the pieces were smaller. It was still filling. Both times I chose the mac-n-cheese. With the 1/4 dark combo, you get two sides, so I doubled up. The cheese is so good. It's a white, thick cheese over cavatappi spiral pasta. Eventually, I'll try the sandwiches. The O.G., Lil' O.G., and The Southern sound appealing. There's also milkshakes, salads, deviled eggs, and chicken Korean style with gochujang. If you like homemade pies, hot chicken (can also get it without spice) and mac-n-cheese, check them out! Btw, when you dine in, you can get a stamp card for a free meal up to $15 off after 10 stamps. read more
This is honestly the juiciest chicken I think ive ever had in my life. It's so good. Been here multiple times and each time the chicken is consistently delicious. The staff is always friendly and the drinks are pretty good also. But the star here is without a doubt the chicken. Will continue to return here read more

Ok. This is the 2nd time and I'm confirming a few facts. Tumble 22 tastes so great ! Yes, it's franchise and it's consistent ! At least for the two times I've visited. For first timers, please announce yourselves. Your server will grant you a sampler of chicken and spice levels + sides. You want to stay alive with mild spicy or you want to try they "stupid hot" level, at your own risk! But our first server, Hung, gave us suchhhhh a great first impression and so hyped that this lasted ever since. His level of energy is kinda rare these days. The second time, I wanted to see how quick I'd lose my taste. Our server did not hesitate to give us a sampler of that "dang hot" level. Glad I did because I was not enjoying food anymore. "hot" or "mo hot" is definitely a good spice point. I'm weak. They serve beers on draft or not, N/A beers if you're into that, cocktails and other type of alcohol. But soda or water is good too! Food is delicious and fresh. Fries are crispy. Sides are super fun to have. A slight sense of healthy with the broccoli lol. They have this whole dessert menu that's intimidating me. Pies and milkshakes. How do people fit this after so many goodies beforehand ? I'm still curious, maybe one day. I enjoyed the whole vibe and friendliness of the place. Overall a mid chicken experience. I appreciate they have the first time sampler plate but after that we really lowered our expectations. We considered leaving but were just so hungry. The deviled eggs were prettt decent. The chicken really didn't have much flavor and then the sprinkle hotness on top wasn't flavorful just hot. The pickles and buns were good tho. Went back with friends who have never been. ARY was our server and she did a great job explaining the sampler to our friends! I got the OG with dirty fries again and was stuffed by the time I was done. But really solid meal with good flavor! The drinks here at the bar were just OK, maybe safer to get a beer here. One of the Art District neighborhood go to spots. This joint ebbs and flows in terms of patrons, but the food always delivers! Food & Drink - 5* The central theme here is chicken of different variety at whatever spice level one can tolerate (no pain, hot, mo hot, dang hot, cluckin' hot, stupid hot). And let me tell ya, I love spicy and.this place can bring it. I made the mistake of stupid hot once, I don't think I'll ever do that again. Whether it's sandwiches, salads, tenders, bites, bone-in - dark, white, mixed they can make it as mild or spicy as you want it. The dirty fries can practically fill one up if alone! They do have a simple cocktail and a full bar to go along with your meal. Service - 3* This is the primary pain point when visiting. I've had instances where the service was fantastic and the server very attentive, other times it's just painfully slow. Order takes forever to be placed, the food is a crawl at coming out, or even getting the bill slow. It just varies widely in my experience so YMMV. Cost - 5* The value is there! The drinks are reasonable and the food is well-proportioned to pricing. I know it's always subjective but I think they definitely know how to keep one coming back with not just quality meals but reasonable pricing. Overall - 4* The only reason I'm putting this one at a 4* is because it just isn't consistent with service. If they could get that worked out the place would easily be a 5* in my view. I recommend anyone stop in and give this a try, but maybe do it when you aren't in a hurry or there are less folks visiting? read more
Perfect spot to kick back with friends, grab a drink, and catch a game! Even better if you're pregaming before an Astros, Rockets, or Texans game -- spicy chicken + cold drinks = unbeatable combo. I ordered the 2-piece tender plate, Cluckin' Hot. Let's just say those beers started disappearing real fast before the heat even hit. The spice sneaks up on you -- not overly seasoned like other spots, but still packs a punch. The service was honestly the best part. They were a bit understaffed when I visited, but the bartender was handling drinks and taking care of us like a pro. Cool dude, never missed a refill, and made the experience that much better. Only small gripe: the sauces. Nothing crazy memorable -- maybe next time I'll ask for the tenders tossed and see if that hits the mark. The first time I was here, my friend and I were able to sample so many menu items which were all great by the way. If it's your first time, try the dirty Mac it's so creamy cheesy and packed with flavor. Staff and service vibe were great. if you sit at the bar, ask for Tristin he's excellent. read more
Tumble 22 has really good food... Almost perfect. Since it was my first time to attend, my buddy Vik and I were offered a sampling of the sides and a few pieces of chicken to sample the spice levels. That was quite nice and I thought I would get a level spicier than the dang hot. Vik had the Tupelo honey chicken sandwich and I had the quarter chicken Korean style hot. I also ordered the broccoli salad and collard greens sides. The sides were very good. The chicken was also tasty. I was a bit disappointed with the heat level, as it felt less spicier than dang hot. Also, the sauce on my chicken made the normal Korean crispness a bit soggy. Our server was also the bartender and was very helpful with suggestions. We will return, as it is just a short drive from downtown. Prices not bad, in the $10-15 range. read more
Stopped in here for lunch as a friend told me one of his favorite hot chicken places. Location to and from parking lot is slightly difficult with traffic. Heading north on Houston Ave you have to cut across traffic, but leaving and going south you just got to hope and pray no traffic is coming up from the from the underpass. Stretch your neck as far back as you can see, hold your breath, grip steering wheel till you see the whites in your knuckles, hit the gas and pray. Even as I was walking over to the restaurant we almost got hit by a car pulling down the street so I suggest going to the sidewalk and crossing there. Safety Share for the day. After we were greeted and seated we met our waiter Devon immediately. Gave us menus and drink orders promptly and as we were pondering over heat levels he gave us a complimentary small tray of items to help us with our decision. It had 4 shot glass size servings of their slaw, collard greens, broccoli slaw & mac along with 3 nuggets of chicken with spice levels 1-3. Id have to say all items were pretty tasty and cooked very well on the chicken. Heat wise I needed to go up some. We split our order: Dang Hot Tupelo Hot Honey - had to add sides for extra money. (Collard Greens & Mac & cheese) This dish is very tasty yet level 4 dang hot spice was basically non existent...and weirdly the level 3 on the sampler was spicier. But again one was a straight piece of chicken and his had slaw and honey so it could be the combination of the items. Devon gave us sides of level 4 & 5 to sprinkle on the sandwich and it helped. Dang Hot dark 2 piece Korean style which comes with 2 sides. (Collard Greens & Broccoli Slaw) Believe when they say Korean style they are adding the gochujang sauce to it. Honestly the flavor and the chicken itself was moist and very tasty, but the skin not crunchy at all, not sure if the korean style is what caused it. Sides Collard Greens - typically I'm not a huge fan, but these were amazing. Bits of bacon and pulled pork in the mix was a great addition Mac & Cheese - loved the creaminess and texture but it had no flavor - spruced it up with the extra level 4 seasoning which did the trick. Slaw - if you like slaw you would like this one, nothing spectacular, but I don't think I have had a spectacular one. Just great in general. Broccoli slaw - nothing bad but not my thing, but the consistency of it was a bit different as it stuck more together like there was something like cheese adhering it together...not sure if it was cheese though. It had been a hot minute since I went to Tumble 22 after being disappointed with the service. Glad I went back since boy did I miss that Cobb salad. The server was super friendly from the time we sat down. He asked right away if my parents had been before. When they hadn't be got them a sampler tray to let them taste things prior to committing a side. The overall restaurant wasn't packed which I felt sad about since I want them to stay open at this location. There is plenty of seating and typically decent service. The food is constantly good rather than a lot of places near by which is a hit or a miss. read more

Everything about this place was amazing. To start, the service provided by CJ was top notch. My "Dang Hot" chicken, collard greens, and broccoli salad were easily reason to post this review (and send pics back home to friends!). I did also manage to take some Mac and cheese off my wife and daughter's plates and that was delicious as well. Lastly, the Oreo Cookie shake was a great way to close out the night! read more
