Waffles chicken fries
Yasser H.

I went to their brick n mortar location couple of weeks ago and wasn't impressed with the food at all. It seems that the quality has changed from their food truck days. I ordered the sandwich and the chicken was ok. It was not flavorful and the buns were like barely luke warm. Fries were fine. Service is a little different. Order at counter and then pickup food at counter. For drinks like ice tea, no refills are provided. Food was presented in plates on trays with utensils. It felt very weird. Not impressed. This is a closed chapter.

Food: super bold flavors and so worth the money!! They stuffed our plates to the brim and about $12-$14 per dish. Went around 12:30 on a Monday so it was a little slow. Service was normal: order at the front and they brought it to my number. Leave the empty dish at the table and they take care of it! Simple set up inside but recommend for a guilty quick lunch! The cashier said it's really spicy, but it really wasn't at all. Wish it was spicier! PS. Check the back of your HEB receipt for BOGO coupon, I saw it right after our meal haha.

We've heard about Mico's and finally decided to give it a a try! Food was good but service and atmosphere was sub-par. Stopped by on a Sunday around 5 and it was pretty dead - but tables were dirty and nobody willing to take orders. We both ordered the Signature Sandwich with waffle fries - spice levels (hot and mild). Flavor was great and would love to try their tenders in the future. Worth the try but improvements to service and upkeep are needed.

LOYALTY REWARDS ARE OFFERED HERE! Remember to enter your number at the end of payment! Still so GOOOOOD just like I remember years ago! Congratulations on the new indoor location. Beautiful location, neighbors with HEB & Kats in the heights, They went away with the blueberry lemonade, (that was my fav. ). Now they make their own! I didn't try it on this visit! I stop by here to bring my son who was telling me about a place that looks very similar to Mico's. I was excited to share this location with my soon to be birthday boy. It just happens to be right after we left brunch, so we did a shareable. (Nothing. They offer, we just ordered the loaded fries). Nice size portions as before. We taking half home, even after sharing one order (after breakfast). We got "No Heat". But it taste a bit more like mild heat. But the flavor was so fire we didn't even complain! Service very friendly. I like that the ladies here have beautiful style and grace. We will return!!!

I honestly think take-out is the way to go here. I was very excited to see this place moved indoors, but they really need to work on front-of-house logistics. The cashier showed no urgency, and when they ran out of mac and cheese, we were told to choose another side... but oddly, salad wasn't allowed even though it was listed as a side (?). There's plenty of space inside to sit after you order. Food came out in a reasonable time, but we had to ask on separate occasions for water, then silverware, then napkins, and then sauce... none of which were provided up front or when the food came out. That being said though, the food itself was as good as I remembered from the outdoor stand. Chicken is crunchy, juicy, and perfectly spicy (I'd stick with mild if you're sensitive). The toast comes glazed with sugar and pairs so well with the spicy chicken. And the Mico's sauce and hot honey are the best sauces to go with the chicken. I'd definitely come back, but will probably stick to takeout moving forward.

Fried pickles and classic sandwich

Stopped here in the middle of a storm before heading to the airport and I couldn't have been happier with my final meal in Houston. Really enjoyed loaded fries and fried pickles that was recommended by staff. Also got the wings and sandwich, light n crispy breading, great spice on the medium probably wouldn't be able to handle the hot. Banana pudding was perfect texture not too sweet, great single size serving. Thank you Alondra, Ashley, Jacob and Rocky for the great service!

Loaded Fries

Horrible! The worst thing I've had in a long time. I called and the manager wanted me drive 10 minutes back to and for them to re make it instead of a simple refund! No chicken just crust and the fries tasted like old oil. It looks so nasty too :///

Chicken sandwich (medium)

Really fast service and the patio was nice. The chicken sandwich (medium heat) was absolutely delicious! I loved the nice sweet heat paired with the crisp pickle and coleslaw. The bun was also nice and fluffy and toasted nicely. The chicken fries were also very good. Good crispy fries and generous with the sauce and chicken. We got hot chicken on these and I kinda of regretted it but it was delicious. The hot is very spicy even for someone with a high spice tolerance.

Tenders

THE BEST fried chicken spot in Htown by far! Whether you get a sammich or tenders you are in a good spot! Spice level is awesome as well. You can already feel the kick with the medium spice level. It gets busy during dinner hours so either prepare yourself for it or stop by for lunch. Plenty of outside seating available but no inside seating at all so you will have to to go it if the weather isn't nice. Overall 9/10 for me! We will be back!

Sophie R.

Finally tried Mico's and it did not disappoint. The chicken tenders were perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside & packed with flavor (and heat ‍). Portions were generous, spice levels were legit & everything came out fresh! This spot is a must-try in Houston.

Jordan W.

Still one of the best hot chicken places in Houston in my opinion. The heat levels are true medium is actually what you would expect it to be so spicy is actually really spicy. If you like hot food, I recommend medium, but if you can handle the heat get the spicy, but you might regret it later. I usually place my orders to go. I have not been in their new brick and mortar yet, but I plan to visit soon. Occasionally I will pair my loaded fries with a strawberry lemonade. The frozen version is my favorite.

John M.

Really good! Spicy... Definitely top 5 in the Nashville Hot category for me. The service was a little slow but it was worth the wait! I wanted to compare spicy levels and got the med and hot. I split each with my friend and we both agreed the medium was actually spicier than the hot. I just wish it was hotter. I'll be back...

Kory S.

Honestly, I've been to Mico's more times than I can count. I realized I never left them a review after having a meal at their new spot. I was sad when I heard that they were closing- I'm not huge hot chicken person but the flavor and spice levels alone were enough to make me feel some type of way. Good thing they only closed to move around the corner and update their offerings! With that being said, Mico's is Texas' BEST hot chicken spot. On a national level, it puts well known chicken eateries to shame! The flavor is unparalleled- I won't describe it because words WILL NOT do it justice. On the other hand you have the spice levels, everything from plain to something that might require you have more than one drink! Lucky enough for you, the great flavor can be tasted in every bite no matter how spicy you choose to get it. Now listen up, this is important! Everyone says they have great spicy chicken, but sometimes they forget the details... Not Mico's! No soggy chicken due to too much seasoning or how they prepare the chicken. If you've had enough hot chicken sandwiches you understand this is a rare feat! Now, I'll be honest, I don't eat fries but friends and colleagues alike say they pair greatly with Mico's hot chicken sandwich. I usually pair my sandwich with their homemade lemonade. It goes perfectly with the spice and is super refreshing, especially in the Houston heat. If you aren't making plans to try Mico's after reading this review, I can't help you. If you're on the line, do it! Their friendly staff, simple menu, and up tempo ambiance should be more than enough to impress your household foodie or picky co-worker. Bonus points... They recently just added alcohol to their menu. Only beer was available at the old location. Don't judge me but I've tried them all and they are all delicious. Personally the one with bourbon is my favorite, it's called the Southern Belle I believe. Enjoy :0)

This is the one and only location here and a great stop for all kinds of sandwiches. Their menu includes innovative offerings and iconic flavors, essentially the best of both worlds. If you're craving a classic or simple sandwich, you can get that. However, if you're looking for something special or out of this world, you can also get it. Ike's specializes in sandwiches with their Dutch Crunch bread and Dirty Sauce, both unique in its own way. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, vegan, or on a gluten-free diet, their menu has it all. I personally am not a super fan of the Dutch Crunch bread since I find it a bit too harsh on the palate and somewhat dry, but love the Dirty Sauce (make it extra or on the side). I enjoy subbing the Dutch Crunch with either French or Sourdough. With over 300 unique sandwiches on the menu, there's a sandwich for everyone. My favorites have been the Menage A Trois (halal chicken, honey mustard, BBQ Sauce, real honey, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar), Ike's Reuben (pastrami, mack Sauce, purple slaw, gouda), Joker (all beef meatballs, fried zucchini, Ike's red pesto, ranch), and Grant Pinkerton, a Houston exclusive (Pinkerton Brisket, pastrami, BBQ aioli, provolone). All of my sandwiches have been stuffed and tasty, worth it! However, I find some menu items to be subpar in quality and flavor (chicken strips). The service is typically quick, efficient, and friendly. There are more than a handful of tables inside and some out on the patio. The shared parking lot can get very crowded as it is packed with lots of other businesses.

Honestly, in the beginning it was pretty rough, slow service, incorrect orders, and the sandwiches just weren't as good as what I was used to getting in California. That said, I kept coming back every now and then hoping things would improve, and I'm glad I did. My last few visits have been great. The sandwiches have been fresh and really tasty, and the customer service has been solid. I also spoke with Jose, and he mentioned he's been working hard to turn things around, and it definitely shows. Not sure why they don't have more locations yet, but I hope they expand soon!

I was also told that the green beans were "just fried in a little bit of olive oil", yet they came out on my plate in a brown sauce. Hmm. Our server seemed to be very nice to a couple tables around us but not so much with us. She also appeared to be the only staff person in the restaurant out on the floor.
