Happy national chicken salad! Thanks to Chicken Salad Chick. All of their US locations will be offering a free scoop of chicken salad today. It was my first time patronizing the business so I truthfully did not know what to expect. I thought I would be getting just a scoop of chicken salad in a cup to go but little did I know that it would be an entire meal! So they definitely over exceeded my expectations after ordering. After ordering, you were just told to give them a name and have a seat. I was a bit confused on what to do. I saw some people sitting down, but there wasn't much sitting area available for to go orders so it was kind of awkward a bit, but I will say the layout of the restaurant would allow for you to set a table and wait so that could be another option as well. The setup is very fast casual and the inside is well lit and clean. Even the drink and condiment area was nicely organized. Honestly, I must return because I do like spiciness so if you do as well, the kickin Kay or buffalo Barclay will surely do the trick. truthfully, the kicking Kay would be my choice, but if you are not a spicy person, but you do like savoriness than the sassy Scotty will surely do the trick. So if you are near Chicken Salad Chick today, I would highly recommend downloading the app and checking them out. Even if you are not able to go today, apparently you can redeem the offer in the app and use it within 90 days. So there's no rush. The only thing that I wish I would've known was that you can sample the chicken salads so utilize this as a pro tip when choosing. As it definitely would have detoured my decision based off of the recommendation that the cashier gave me. Luckily, I did like the sassy Scotty, but I would have ultimately chose something else if I would have known that I could sample the chicken salad prior to ordering. The only reason why I knew that was because I overheard the manager, offering it to the customers after me. Not a knock on the cashier that assisted me, but it should definitely be something offered if they know that customers are indecisive. read more

It's been over 5 years since I've tried Chicken Salad Chick back when a friend recommended it when I lived in the north side of Houston. I didn't know there was one in Memorial until my administrative assistant suggested it for her birthday with lunch. We were all glad she did because we actually loved it. We dined in on a Wednesday afternoon. The place is somewhat hidden down Gaylord Street behind A Moveable Feast where we ate at for another manager's birthday lunch. The GPS might throw you off a bit. The parking strip is pretty busy, but you can still find a couple spots. It was kind of empty when we came in just before noon. It did get busy after that. You line up and order at the registers, and they give you a number marker to deliver your meal to your table. There's partial booth and low table seating inside. There's fountain drink and tea at the far end of the dining area towards the single gender restrooms. I don't remember what I tried years ago, so I went with the one scoop and two sides. I had the traditional Classic Carol, loaded potato soup and grape salad. My admin asst raved about it, so I had to try. Plus, I needed some fruit in my life. The Classic Carol is plain with celery, mayo and their secret seasoning. I liked that the celery was not overpowering. In fact, I couldn't really see it. I thought it was ok paired with the wheat crackers. I shared some with my other coworker who ordered Olivia's Old South which has sweet pickles and hard boiled eggs. I think I liked that version better. I would like to try the Cranberry Kelli next time which has dried cranberries and slivered almonds. I've had all kinds of chicken salad. It's one of my faves at HEB and will order chicken salad sandwiches at different delis. I grew up with my family making chicken salad, as well. The loaded potato soup was great. It came topped with crispy bacon pieces and shredded cheese. The cup of soup was hot and had nice chunks of potato. The potatoes were soft and perfectly cooked. I ate about half the chicken salad scoop with crackers since the soup made me full. I tried the grape salad and saved the rest. It was delicious. It has a sweet cream cheese sauce over the grapes and is topped with a sprinkle of brown sugar and chopped pecans. My admin asst was right! I also liked their tea, which I mixed with sweet and unsweetened. Other items our group enjoyed was the pimento cheese sandwich, chicken melt and the small sugar cookies the meals came with. I gave mine away. This is definitely a great lunch place option. It's right off the I-10 freeway, so it's nearby a lot of work places including ours. I'm sure we'll be back here even though it is a little pricey. My meal was about $15-16. As a side note, I'm glad we didn't experience having large pieces of cartilage in our chicken salad as other reviews mentioned. read more

Nestled in the Memorial neighborhood just across the street from Memorial High School, Chicken Salad Chick offers some delicious flavors of chicken salad and soups as well. If you are a fan of chicken salad, this place has got to be the place for you. They have plenty of different flavors for you to try! I was able to try the Classic Carol, the Fancy Nancy, and the Dixie Chick. Those are all of my favorite flavors, and it goes great in the Chicken Salad Melt or the Chicken Salad BLT. They have some great options overall! The staff and service are very nice and they take care of you very well. You can tell that they have their southern hospitality when they take care of their customers. The drinks are great as well! Even though it's the normal Coca-Cola products, they have the easy chewable ice that we all love! They also have some Minute Maid lemonade, and that's a great choice as well! read more

Service was nice and friendly. Greeted as I walked in and they came by to check on us several times. I decided to order the Chicken Salad Club with Fancy Nancy and a side of Cranberry Kelli. Both chicken salads were just moist enough. Unfortunately, my scoop of Fancy Nancy was not so fancy.. it only had 1 tiny grape and a remnant of apple and pecans. The Chick with Fancy Nancy and Fresh Fruit options is my favorite lunch. Using most of the crackers to scoop up most of the scoop of chicken salad, followed by wrapping the rest of the chicken salad in the lettuce leaf provides a very filling and delicious lunch. I love that the fresh fruit over contains grapes and berries. The pickle spear adds a tangy accent and the cute buttercream cookie is the perfect finishing touch. read more

This is my second location to try since Chicken Salad Chick got started. I love their consistency with the restaurant theme, the food, and the southern hospitality feel. My coworker and I did a pickup order for lunch. I got the Fruity Fran chicken salad BLT on toast with a side of the broccoli salad. I loved the whole meal except the bread and the lettuce. The bread was cold and toasted too much. I should have gotten a croissant instead. I didn't take any stars off for the bread because they have other options, so it's not a huge deal. It's just my preference. I am also not a leaf lettuce fan. I prefer shredded lettuce. Maybe a suggestion to consider? The broccoli salad is delicious! I couldn't get enough of it. For take home, I got a Classic Carol to go tub with a bag of mini croissants. I needed something for the weekend as the weather was going to be unfavorable and I knew I wouldn't want to get out. The Classic Carol is very good. The mini croissants were perfect. They have delicious sweet tea. I mixed mine with lemonade and wished I would have gotten a larger serving by time I got back to the office. It's so good! They have plenty of parking in front of the store. The service is exceptionally friendly. The restaurant is decorated super cute and is very clean. I will definitely return. I am super excited they now have a store near my work and home. The chicken salad is good, fresh ingredients & a variety of flavors. I do have a problem with their toasted bread. It's not really roasted. It's like it has a toasted pattern that is stamped on the bread. They do offer untoasted & croissant so maybe next time that is what I'll order. Service was great the owner Mrs.Ram was very helpful and nice. I was very happy to try this place since I like chicken salad. Location is clean and very well decorated. I purchased the fancy nacy salad on a croissant,a side of grape salad and it came with a slice of pickled and a mini round butter cream cookie total of $10 and something change I took it to go since my lunch is on 30 minutes. I went to bite the sandwich and croissant was hard so that really made my sandwich not Inedible at that moment I regret choosing my chicken salad in a croissant I just took 2 bites because I was hungry. I really was excited to try Chicken Salad Chick! My husband brought home 3 small varieties: Classic Carol, Olivia's Old South, and Lauryn's Lemon Basil. My favorite was the Classic and my husband loved the Old South, but all 3 were delicious. About a week later, I took my mom with me and we got the Classic again but this time the large container, a large Lemon Basil and decided to try a large Dill-icious Diva plus a small Pimiento Cheese. Picked up the mini croissants (a steal at $5 for 12 they are fantastic), too. My mother loved the pimiento cheese and I thought the dill was better than the basil- especially if you like dill. So far so good and even recommended it to a friend having a meeting at her home for a light lunch. Loved the croissants, went BACK for 2 more packages and another large container of Classic Carol. Here is where it all goes wrong. Bit into a big piece of cartilage which immediately grossed me out. Could not go on. Here I am, 2 days later and the grossed out feeling has somewhat faded so I decided to have a little croissant out of that same container of Classic. Again, bit down on another 1" long piece of cartilage. At this point, I AM OUT. Chicken salad 101 is to make sure the pieces of chicken you are using are edible. They failed in their primary mission. Cartilage overrides any good feelings I had for this place. I wish I had not recommended Chicken Salad Chick to my friend because I bet now that is what I will be offered for lunch at our meeting on Monday. No thanks. read more

I'd give this place negative stars if I could. My friend and I went here last night and ended up with the worst food poisoning of our entire lives. I was so close to going to the ER to get my stomach pumped-- we needed to take off work because we could not go more than 20 minutes without vomiting. Mind you this is the only place we met up at and ate together so I KNOW it's from here. Either they severely undercooked their chicken or they left it out/used old chicken. (It looked fine so I think it was the latter). Either way this place is just going to wreak havoc on your body, literal poison and should be inspected-- STAY AWAY. read more

I've now visited 4 times, always for take-out. I've tried the broccoli salad, Olivia's and Carol's. I like all of them. However, each and every container of chicken salad that I have purchased has contained "unchewables" (small chunks of cartilage). This is a huge problem in my opinion. Because while it's bad enough to ever be forced to spit out food, imagine how embarrassing it would be if you served this to guests? I might not be going back there anymore. Oh and check-out/payment seems to take longer than it should. Oh and they need to move the take-out cooler to a different spot in the store because as-is it necessitates a long wait in the ordering line just for take-out. Dumb. read more

Spoke to a Carlos who claimed to be a store manager at this location. I called the store before placing an order at this location to inquire about the door dash / uber eats tamper policy. They said that everything would be sealed when placing the order. This is my first and last time ordering from this place. Why? Of course it came to my home with the bag open and not sealed. I called the store back to let them know that I wont be eating the food since it was not sealed and was asking why they would lie! Had to explain to him the above scenario three times with him trying to place the blame on door dash and to get a refund from them. Ummmm you're the place packing the food! I'm rating my experience at one star, but if I could give negative stars, I would. I'm not rating the food, I never got the food, I'm rating the customer service, which is abysmal. On Wednesday August 13, I placed an internet, for delivery order to this store. My order and my credit card payment went through without a hitch and I was promised delivery in about 45 minutes. There was a link for "track your order" on the email I got so i punched the link. I immediately noticed that there was a red flag and a note, "there is a problem with your order, call the restaurant". I called the restaurant to ask about the problem, but the person on the phone told me that the order had been received and was being prepared without any problems. I felt a little uneasy with the explanation but wasn't sure what else I could do. An hour later when my delivery was 15 minutes past the delivery time, I called the restaurant again to ask where my order was. This time I talked to the manager and she told me the order has been cancelled by the delivery company. No explanation of why, just that it had been cancelled. OK, fine, how soon can my payment be refunded? I got an ambiguous answer but decided to see if I would get the expected refund. It was at this time that I noticed that about 20 minutes after I had placed my order, I had gotten another email, again with no explanation, that my order has been cancelled. I responded to the email by asking, again, for a refund. The following day I called the store, again, and this time the manager gave me the ludicrous answer that I had to pursue a refund from the store's third party delivery service! I agree the third party service should not be paid for doing nothing, but I have no idea who this third party delivery service; the charge on my credit card comes from the Chicken restaurant not any delivery service, so I told the manager that her store was responsible for refunding my money. All l got from her is that she would see what she could do (obviously, nothing). I plan to dispute the charge with my credit card company and if necessary I will move on to small claims court. I've done it before. I don't know if this is inexperience or incompetence or both or something else, but if this store plans to stay in business, they need to do a much better job of customer service, and maybe need to consider their association with their third party delivery service. Note: I never got any explanation for why my order was cancelled and this store has never made any attempt to contact me with any explanation. read more

Went in to get some chicken salads to go. Had never been before. Very clean. New staff seemed anxious to do well but were somewhat nervous. It was after lunch but pretty busy. No line though, I had researched various flavors before I went in so I just grabbed the ones I wanted to go. My wife was skeptical but she's now a believer. She wants me to go back and get more of the ones we loved. Everyone has different tastes so the ones I/we liked might not be for everyone. Tried four different ones. All were fresh and very good. None of them had too much mayo. The Barbie-Q was very mild and just so-so. The classic, the Dixie chick, and the sassy Sally are all on the list to get again. My wife also wants to try some of the ones with fruit like the fancy Nancy (not my thing but to each her own). They also have egg salad and pimento cheese. The dessert cake looks amazing but has like 1200 calories a slice. Yikes! They make great sandwiches and also go well on crackers. Going back in a day or so to get more. read more
