Visited Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken while in Houston. The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, and the service was friendly and efficient. Stopped in for takeout, and everything was solid across the board. Tried their fried chicken -- crispy, flavorful, and well executed. A cool touch I appreciated was them placing slices of bread on top, which helped keep the chicken crispy during the ride home. The sides were solid as well -- I especially enjoyed the collard greens. Another plus, there's tons of parking, which always makes things easier. Overall, a reliable spot for good fried chicken and worth a return visit. Saluti.

Ahhh Gus's, where the skin stays on, the meat is moist with just the right amount of heat and hands down, the best fried chicken! I love the dark meat with the coleslaw and beans but my son got the white meat and said it was awesome. Service was fast and friendly!

Fantastic Dark Chicken & Sides togo !!!

I picked up a 2 Piece Dark Meat with collard greens and mac n cheese togo. Very good chicken and sides with very comforting tastes and rays of delicious flavors all the way through. The chicken pieces had a nice brown, crispy skin with good spices. The chicken meat itself underneath the skin was very juicy, smooth and tender in every bite. You could tell they prepped it well. The collard greens were very moist, earthy, spiced and savory with a refreshing vibe all in one. Very tasty. Collard greens, celery, spinach and broccoli are my favorite green veggies, so had to get this one for sure. I was debating between the baked beans and mac cheese, but recommended mac bc it pairs better as a side with the greens. Very tasty, sticky, gooey, deep yellow in color n taste and seasoned well. Think of the 90s K F C mac cheese back when it actually tasted very good, but still even better from Gus's WFC regardless. Great, succulent jalapeños on a note too. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient service on this first time visit.

I try to find a Gus' fried chicken wherever I can. This was the second location I tried. It is near the Texans stadium slapped smack in the middle of an otherwise unappealing shopping area. Don't let tha fool you because once you step inside you are greeted with exceptional service and mouth watering food. The food; fried chicken of course. I order the four piece with some fried okra and some greens. My momma would have loved this place. The restaurant is a welcome reprieve from the surrounding area and is clean and well maintained. Now, this is spicy chicken, but don't be a sissy. I don't like food so spicy you can't enjoy the actual food. This is just the right amount of spice and delicious juicy chicken. Don't forget the sweet tea, y'all!

Always a must when I visit Houston, the great food and great customer service always keeps coming back to the same location. Aaron was a great waiter and was attentive at all times and made us feel welcome. The location is great and there's enough space and it's not cramped.

Good, Great, the best. Who don't like Gus Fried chicken ?chicken hot and fresh. made to order. The chicken does have a slight spice kick however the flavor is unmatched.. I just haddd to go and see what the hype was about.. and let me just say it wasn't so bad! The fries were good, and I think they were fried along beef tallow or something.. cause they were good af w/o the seasoning lol The chicken was good too! And honestly everything taste good! Now I wouldn't go as far, as to say that it's the best / world famous.. but it's up there! If you go to this location there's a lot of parking.. I mean a lot lol! There's no drive thru or anything like that so be mindful.. I would have also appreciated if my meal came with a drink but hey.. maybe I'll try next time and order a drink

It's been a minute since I last made it to Gus's, but man--it was just as good as I remembered. The chicken came out hot, crispy, and fresh, exactly how fried chicken should be. Tonight we started with the fried okra, which was a great warm-up before diving into our mains--2 dark chicken pieces and 3 tenders. Every bite was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The inside has that cozy southern feel, like you're stepping into a spot that's been part of the community forever. Our waitress was sweet, attentive, and full of good southern hospitality, which just made the meal even better. If you're looking for quality fried chicken done right, Gus's is definitely worth the stop.

A plate of breast and wing with slaw and baked beans with bread hiding under the breast.

I've been to Gus Fried Chicken on Kirby close to the NRG stadium. I think I'll skip during FIFA unfortunately. Food is spicy mildly not Ghost Pepper or Jalapeño Hot but a nice burn. Spiced food is in vogue now even though it's been around for a while. Self seating on going inside they will find you quickly. A limited beer selection if you dine in. It's a stand alone place in a strip shopping center. The place gets busy at lunch time but they move very quickly . A lot of take out was seen. It got good rating in the local paper. The menu is limited to chicken so they don't try to be everything to everybody. The chicken came out hot (temperature) I got a plate. A plate is chicken - slaw - baked beans - white bread. Not fancy but flavor was excellent. They have other sides (Southern style). Sorry large breast (chicken) filled me up - I'm a lightweight anymore so I skipped the starters and desserts. Plastic utensils - pressed paper plates and plastic cups and plastic table cloths it isn't fancy its comfort atmosphere and food. Note they have another location on 1815 Washington Houston. I did not go there.

Aaaaaaammmaaaazzziiinnnggggg! Memphis special and breast/thigh meals. Fried green tomatoes, chocolate chess pie and all of it was soooo yummy. Great service. Visiting from Phoenix and this is the best fried chicken I have ever had....sorry mom. lol.

I was on my way to Fiesta Mart when I found this location! I had to stop to try. We were a party of two, dropped in for dinner on Easter. We were promptly greeted by a friendly server. We ordered: 3 wings plate w/double fries 3 pcs dark w/Mac & cheese and fried okras one piece catfish - my only complaint, for $4 this was very small but flavorful The food was great, sports channel playing on TV's, everyone was friendly, plenty of parking, and clean restrooms. I will be back again for the fried chicken plates!

Gus's fried chicken says they are the best and it's hard to argue. I've been to this locations many times now and it's always good and sometimes better than others, thus the 4 stars. Some days it's a 5 star but I had to be fair overall. Service was just ok, and the restaurant seating and atmosphere is fine but new laminated menus are desperately needed. That's never a good selling point with a worn or stained menu. The chicken breast was a touch dry this time yet the rest was good including beans and fries. You'll enjoy the chicken and I hope it's a 5 star day.

We ordered a few different things: fried whole wings, dirty rice, yams, cabbage, mango habanero wings, fries, red beans and rice and Kool-aide. The fried wings, rice, fries and cabbage were well seasoned- you could taste the butter in them. My son wasn't crazy about the red beans n rice or mango habanero wings. He said it was more beans than rice and the wings lacked flavor. The Kool -aide was super sweet (as expected), but I added water to make it more palatable. While waiting we talked to some other guests Who decided to wait. Later the cook came out and chatted a bit- he was nice. Overall, food is good just come with patience.

I also tried the prickly pear aid (non-alcoholic), and it was super refreshing, definitely worth ordering if you like a little tartness to cleanse your palate. Overall, this visit felt like a completely different experience than last time. It delivered the elevated experience a place like Eunice promises and what I was used to originally. Looking forward to celebrating my birthday here in June!

I visited yesterday with a few friends for the first time. The restaurant itself was very…read moreimpressive and clean, well decorated, and welcoming. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to both the service and the food quality. Our server was very slow throughout the evening. After ordering cocktails, it took approximately 20 minutes for them to arrive. We then ordered our meals... I had the burger and fries, while my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were noticeably over salted. After finishing our meals, we waited an additional 15-20 minutes just to receive a dessert menu. Eventually, we decided not to wait any longer and went to Dessert Gallery down the street instead. While the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant were excellent, the slow service and food issues negatively impacted the experience. Based on this visit, I would likely not return.

Listen! I know good soul food, and this spot here has "hit the spot!" But because it's Friday, it's…read moreCatfish Friday! So I quite naturally ordered the max. piece catfish (3 pc.) with fries and greens, and OMG! The flavor, the crispiness! Just like I fry it! Excellent customer service! Needless to say, this is now my "catfish spot" whenever I visit the area again. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler. Another hit! So balanced with flavor and sweetness! My family had the oxtails and blackened salmon. They are licking their fingers! Why is this place not rated a perfect 5?! You better believe they get 5 stars from me! Earned! (Sorry, I ate my fish and peach cobbler before I realized I didn't take a pic. And the presentation was magnificent on all plates!)

I ordered the turkey wings which came with rice & 2sides with cornbread. I got the black eyed peas & greens with no meat in my greens. The standout for me were the black eyed peas. They were excellent. Everything else was just ok. I liked that everything wasn't overly salty. It just lacked that extra kick. The serving sizes were pretty good & I have plenty leftovers. I would be back again to try another dish because I feel for soul food this was pretty healthy because it was overly salty.
