Came here for the Wednesday night special: three tenders, fries, and a drink. Also got the crunchy chicken sandwich. All the chicken was nuggets pieces, juicy, and crispy. Downside: none of the dry rubs had flavor. The ranch was bland and watery. I got the spicy lemon pepper and firecracker. With no sauce alone, tastes like no spices, no salt. Chicken was good, flavor was lacking tremendously. And it was $0.75 to add each dry rub. This was like calling mayo a hot sauce kind of situation. The chicken sandwich was also a bit bland but Everything was put together was good. Soft bun, nice coleslaw, charge crispy chicken. I'd come back for the big chicken tenders but I'd need to get sauce or something elsewhere. The fries were okay. Not very crispy. The stars are for the perfectly cooked tenders.

Right off the bat, the cacio e pepe arancini were an immediate standout - crisp on the outside, cheesy within, and perfectly peppery. The focaccia with burrata... yes please! The Milton salad was generously finished with parmesan, while the eggplant parm was rich without feeling heavy. The Cresta di Gallo was the dish that stayed with me - a nod to the old Provisions restaurant, and the kind of dish that invites you to slow down and savor every bite. Portions are generous and ideal for sharing. The tiramisu was a perfect ending to the meal, and we're already looking forward to returning!

It's unique in the sense that it's connected to it's bar, Lee's. I love all of their little details and decor. They also have a little photo booth at the entrance that's quite popular and very cute. Service was great. Our server was so hospitable. We had a sampler of their appetizers and entrees and shared it among a party of 4 and it was so much food. Loved the Chitarra and parmesan chicken the most, but everything else honestly was so good as well. Definitely will be returning.

Luckily our server was able to move us to the covered outdoor seating after a little while which was a little better. The covered patio has fans. However, bonus for sitting outside is that they're having a promo during HRW where happy hour drink specials are going on all day. The food and drinks were all yummy though. We got the yum yum fries for the table to share. I ordered the duck duck shroom pizza and the aperol spritz. The portions of everyone's food were huge so I'd say a good bang for your buck. Getting seated was a little chaotic. Indoor seating was pretty limited and not managed well. We end up sitting on the patio (still pretty toasty around sunset time). The giant pretzel we ordered for appetizer was excellent, highlight of the meal. The sourdough pizzas were pretty thin, overall I'd give the pizzas a 3/5. Of the 4 pizzas we tried, my personal ranking: 1. Spicy Goat 2. Duck Duck Shroom 3. Heirloom Margherita 4. Sweet & Spicy Pepperoni. Service was also disorganized and a little slow. I'd come back if I'm craving that pretzel.

I don't eat meat, but I NEEDED a grilled cheese and an order of onion rings just sounded like the right thing to do, so I did it. My oh my! What I got was the largest grilled cheese sandwich I've ever seen on what I think was brioche bread? It was very much the texture of a croissant and whoa....so tasty! The onion rings were very nice with thick sliced onions so the ratio of onion to batter was perfect. JLB obviously takes changing out the oil in their fryers seriously (as many places don't) because they were fresh and didn't taste like anything that had been deep-fried in the oil previously. This is a real issue for me. I don't want tortilla chips that smell and taste rancid, nor do I want churros that taste like tortilla chips that have been previously fried in the same rancid oil. I have an extremely sensitive olfactory sense, but it lends itself nicely to eating out at establishments that take the care and concern for cleanliness and their patrons. Speaking of cleanliness, JLB is spotless, although to the point the cleaning products smell overwhelm the entire small establishment. I immediately knew when I walked in that I couldn't eat there, but I'm sure glad I ordered to-go! My order was prepped and ready swiftly and too big to eat for just one person so I shared with my neighbor who is recovering from an injury. Literally, don't order a large onion rings if you don't have several people to share it with. Tee hee! Great Job JLB!

The HRW menu doesn't go too off-menu, which is nice for those who want to try a few things and know they can return to get that same dish. This particular HWR was a three course menu with choices for each. You could add on anything like wine, cocktails, etc as well (we had both) The service was good. We didn't have an overly chatty server, in fact I don't even remember interactions with the server, but I remember the food came out quickly, hot, and everything was correct (for a 4-top of varying three course meals) The meals were delicious. We all order a variety of things and were able to share The ambiance is cozy, modern, and still elegant. I will say it was August so it's hot outside in Texas, Georges has a beautiful but gigantic pizza oven in the back center of the visible kitchen. We were all warmer than we wanted to be, and were definitely sweating by the end of the meal. There's a covered patio with seating for the cooler days/nights. There is quite a bit of parking, but it's shared strip mall style parking Some tips: If you want a nightcap after dinner you can mosey (literally walk) next door to Marquis II. It's an almost five far feel with darts, billiards, and a fully stocked bar Don't forget to look at the HRW website in August to find menus categorized by cuisine style to see what fun and delicious meals you might want to enjoy. Remember, it's for a good cause and it's a great way to try local eats Cheers!!

The restaurant itself is cozy, and the entire staff seemed like one big family, which gave it a really welcoming feel. I went with my family, and we started with the calamari and tuna tartare. For my entrée, I ordered the pesto bucatini. If I'm being honest, the food just didn't do it for me. The calamari was simply fried with no noticeable seasoning or standout dipping sauce. The pesto bucatini was pretty underwhelming too. It was very heavy on the mint with just a hint of pistachio crumbs, and the pesto flavor I was hoping for never really came through. Pesto pasta is usually one of my favorite dishes, but this one honestly felt like a waste of carbs. The positives were definitely the service and the atmosphere. I just wish the food had lived up to everything else.

Similarly to their more popular location in Memorial (#2), this outside of this Bellaire spot doesn't immediately tell the full story. The interior has an industrial vibe, with the high ceilings and overhead fixtures, but as converted into a solid dining space. The large tilted mirrors in the main area are reminiscent of the now defunct Helen's (#3) and makes for a fun (or perhaps distracting) visual. The spacious layout allows breathing room for all kinds of groups. Service has been good overall, and prompt throughout every visit. The American bistro inspired menu has a decent amount of variety that spans from brunch to a tasty weeknight dinner and a drink. Their starters have a variety of tasty bites that include the white truffle eggs, wicked wings, prosciutto-melon burrata, Mama Pauley's meatballs, and a very addicting chipotle pimento cheese dip. While I appreciate the vegan-friendly hippie chickpea croquettes, it needed just a bit more seasoning. Their bacon double cheeseburger has been deemed "insta-famous" and it certainly didn't disappoint. It's juicy, a little messy, but a lot delicious. It paired well with their large cut fries (consider upgrading to the truffle fries), but the house made chips are also a good light bite. Their salads are equally fabulous from their classic caesar to a hearty cobb salad. I wasn't as impressed with the crunchy Asian salad, but thought their faro salad was a thumbs up. Understandably, the priciest meals are some of their grilled and house specialty meals, such as a prime tenderloin filet ($42), Mediterranean roasted redfish ($36), twelve hour ribs ($29), and rosemary-lemon chicken ($29), all of which are solid. I feel the buttermilk chicken tender platter ($19) is really meant for children, but is great for any tender lover in the bunch. Their weekly "features" are a series of daily specials that range from prime rib nights on Wednesdays and ribeyes on Thursdays, and "kids eat free" specials + their happy hour give folks plenty of reason to check it out. ___________ ( #1) Especially during their seasonal deals which can sometimes include steep discounts. While their expectations were sky high, they apparently were never met as the experiment fizzled in less than a year. On the surface, things looked excellent. The location was central and the venue was gorgeous. It was modern, spacious, clean, and buzzing with folks from all walks of life. The staff was young and ambitious, doing their best to keep things in line with excellent phone manners and were organized all around. The bathrooms were so clean that they ended up being my favorite part of their interior. The menu really embodied their "Pizza. Rotisserie. Bar." theme, which resulted in an extensive menu of food and drinks, with the semi-laughable solo choice of rotisserie, which was a half bird and a handful of sides at $19. Overall, the prices seemed reasonable by neighborhood standards, with the pizzas themselves all less than $20 and pastas were around the same. The kids menu had numerous sub-$10 items and free dough to keep youngins occupied. To be fair, the pizzas were not particularly memorable despite being extremely presentable. The staff would shower a blanket of cheese on the entrees, which made every dish look the part for quality food porn. Despite feeling a bit skimpy portion wise, the pastas fared far better than the pizza. The pappardelle bolognese was their priciest option but was also the weakest link flavor wise. The carbonara ($19) was tastier but was gobbled up faster than the rigatoni vodka ($20), which had the best presentation of the dishes. The cauliflower mash and broccolini were immediate passes (#1) and the wagyu smash burger ($16) was highly recommended but also highly underwhelming. Despite the mediocrity of several items, I still enjoyed what Pie Tap had to offer. While the space is now occupied by Anthony's New York italian (#2), I am hopeful that Pie Tap hasn't given up on the Houston market and will find themselves in another spot in town soon. ___________ (#1) No. Not again.
