    Bango Burger

So yesterday I ordered the van Gogh burger from doordash because they had buy one get one free and I was in need of some major protein. Being that this is a double Patty burger, I was sold. I saw a really good reviews on doordash from this restaurant and read a few reviews here on Yelp so, I took the plunge. When they arrived and I opened the bag, I was a bit disappointed at how they presented the burger. It was a very very sad looking burger. Lol. The Good news? The flavor is definitely there and the onions were superb. The sauce they use is a tangy, sweet, and rich yumminess and I would like a bottle to keep at the house! Would I get this burger again? Absolutely. Would I want to go to the restaurant physically myself next time? Absolutely.

I really should stop going to barbecue spots when I haven't eaten all day because I know it sways my judgment. Today was no different. I'm on a mission to find the best barbecue Houston has to offer, and while I know Texas BBQ is nothing like the vinegar-based barbecue from my home state of Virginia, I still want to have a solid ordering experience. Brookstreet Bar-B-Q on a Friday afternoon was quiet--apparently, they had a private event later, which might explain the lack of patrons. Ordering was quick, and the cashier was really nice about explaining the specials. I went with the two-meat, two-side, dessert, and drink special for $18--solid deal. The food came out fast--but when I saw the portion sizes, I was shocked. My pulled pork and sausage came with baked beans and mac & cheese, and the portions were small. Again, I was starving, so I wasn't about to complain with food in front of me. The standout? The bread. I was able to make a little pulled pork sandwich, which helped since the pulled pork itself was just... OK. It felt like a lot of scraps, not as meaty as I expected. The sausage was really well-seasoned, though, and dipping it in the mustard sauce and Brookstreet BBQ sauce gave it a much-needed kick. Dessert was banana pudding--not my mom's, but a respectable attempt. Overall, this meal felt like barbecue day in a high school cafeteria--not bad, not great, just there. It got the job done, but I wouldn't call this a go-to BBQ spot in Texas. That said, the specials were attractive, the location was convenient, and the rustic decor was a nice touch. I even saw the cook grabbing fresh wood from outside, so I know they're working with real wood for that smoky flavor--I just wish I had actually tasted more of it on my plate.

Wedges in the kid cup that was cold

Just don't waste your time at all! The meat was cold! This the portion of fries,!potato wedges in this kid cup and the peach cobbler was no sweetnesses just bland! All they served is cold! The ice tea was not sweet at all! You pay high prices for food but it horrible! Never Ever again!

Yup! I was hesitant to come in but I'm so glad I did. Everything was delicious and fresh! Everyone behind the counter was prompt and helpful. Will definitely come back.

Great tender smoked meats and pleasant spaces to enjoy inside and out on the patio. Perfect place for lunch in the Montrose area.

The standard for BBQ in Houston (#1) is so high that decent places like Brookstreet seem somewhat average in comparison. If it were a place in the northern part of the country, I think they'd be well received. They can't be considered among the heavy hitters in this city without being more consistent with their meats. 3.5 stars, rounded up. It's a good looking place with ample parking, covered patio seating, and a cozy interior that any place would love. I appreciate the homey vibe and intimate seating, and the super consistent service. That drive-thru is a gamechanger, which is perfect for folks who aren't interested in waits, or keeps people from having to wait in line (at least in person) and perfect for folks who are on the go. (#2) To be clear, I do like the food overall. I've had excellent versions of everything and I've also had dry and disappointing versions as well. The brisket and turkey are always big gambles, which also happen to be my favorite meats. I am fond of their jalapeño sausage and think the pulled pork is solid. The chopped beef baked potato is one of my favorite items, since it's fully loaded, and not as messy as other variations I've seen from around town. The jambalaya is a hard pass for me but the creamed corn and mac and cheese make up for it. Bread pudding is also a winner and a great way to end the meal. They also do deliver through a lot of the third party platforms. I always think BBQ is meant to be eaten in but the drive-thru makes this place a bonafide option for a last minute potluck or indulgent meal on the fly. ___________ (#1) And really, Texas in general. (#2) Hello, it's me again.

    Three Meat Plate

Decided to order them through Uber Eats, I looked at the Yelp reviews before hand & automatically had an idea of what the taste would be like. Oh was I right haha. I got the three meat plate & for starters I was disappointed by the portion size for the price I paid. Very Bland, unseasoned sides. I got Mac & Beans. Worst beans I think I've ever had I didn't finish them. I am a Bean lover too. Mac was watery & tasteless. Unseasoned macaroni noodles. For the meat I got Ribs, Marble brisket & mixed sausage (Jalapeño/Regular). Ribs=Bland, tasted like they were made in a standard oven (No Smokey flavor) marble Brisket=Somewhat Tender a tad bit dry Mixed sausage= Great flavor/Tender & juicy. (hence the reason for me not giving 1 star. BBQ Sauce= A little on the Sweet side. Seems like an overload of brown sugar. Not trying to be biased but it is essential that you put "Who Dat" bread with your BBQ. Instead they give to what looks like a small piece of a French roll, that wasn't even tasty. Overall, it felt as if no soul was put into this cooking & highly unseasoned unfortunately. The BBQ misses on so many levels, & I wouldn't choose them even if they were the last BBQ option. Oh yeah I forgot the BBQ sauce, it was very watery & too sweet. Cheers,

Ordered; Chicken Sausage Baby back ribs Brisket Pulled pork I have to say that the Sausage and chicken stole the show. It meat was not as dry as the brisket and baby back ribs. The seasoning was great on all the food. The only thing that I did not enjoy was that the brisket and the baby back ribs being so dry. Do take in mind that this is just my pallet taste. If you had been to Woodranch in chino hills, CA, then nothing can compare in baby back ribs and I believe the brisket in Whole Foods is a lot more juicier and tender. Btw the sides were very well flavored and not overpowering. I wish some one would post a bread pudding picture on Yelp.

I took a quart of sauce home. My lovely coworker took me here and I was astonished of this hidden gem. After taking one flavor check of sauce, I immediately asked the register if they sell it. I loved the location of an older home.It reminded me of my great grandmothers home and made it feel like I was having a home cooked meal. If you can't afford bbq and need a cheaper option get the chicken! Truly you get your money's worth. Chicken was flavorful and juicy. Yes, that includes the breast.

We ordered a few different things: fried whole wings, dirty rice, yams, cabbage, mango habanero wings, fries, red beans and rice and Kool-aide. The fried wings, rice, fries and cabbage were well seasoned- you could taste the butter in them. My son wasn't crazy about the red beans n rice or mango habanero wings. He said it was more beans than rice and the wings lacked flavor. The Kool -aide was super sweet (as expected), but I added water to make it more palatable. While waiting we talked to some other guests Who decided to wait. Later the cook came out and chatted a bit- he was nice. Overall, food is good just come with patience.

Everything came out beautifully timed, almost like a perfectly paced three-course meal, which obviously made the whole experience feel elevated and relaxed. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and on top of everything without being overbearing. I also tried the prickly pear aid (non-alcoholic), and it was super refreshing, definitely worth ordering if you like a little tartness to cleanse your palate. Overall, this visit felt like a completely different experience than last time. It delivered the elevated experience a place like Eunice promises and what I was used to originally. Looking forward to celebrating my birthday here in June!

I visited yesterday with a few friends for the first time. The restaurant itself was very…read moreimpressive and clean, well decorated, and welcoming. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to both the service and the food quality. Our server was very slow throughout the evening. After ordering cocktails, it took approximately 20 minutes for them to arrive. We then ordered our meals... I had the burger and fries, while my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were noticeably over salted. After finishing our meals, we waited an additional 15-20 minutes just to receive a dessert menu. Eventually, we decided not to wait any longer and went to Dessert Gallery down the street instead. While the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant were excellent, the slow service and food issues negatively impacted the experience. Based on this visit, I would likely not return.

Listen! I know good soul food, and this spot here has "hit the spot!" But because it's Friday, it's…read moreCatfish Friday! So I quite naturally ordered the max. piece catfish (3 pc.) with fries and greens, and OMG! The flavor, the crispiness! Just like I fry it! Excellent customer service! Needless to say, this is now my "catfish spot" whenever I visit the area again. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler. Another hit! So balanced with flavor and sweetness! My family had the oxtails and blackened salmon. They are licking their fingers! Why is this place not rated a perfect 5?! You better believe they get 5 stars from me! Earned! (Sorry, I ate my fish and peach cobbler before I realized I didn't take a pic. And the presentation was magnificent on all plates!)

I ordered the turkey wings which came with rice & 2sides with cornbread. I got the black eyed peas & greens with no meat in my greens. The standout for me were the black eyed peas. They were excellent. Everything else was just ok. I liked that everything wasn't overly salty. It just lacked that extra kick. The serving sizes were pretty good & I have plenty leftovers. I would be back again to try another dish because I feel for soul food this was pretty healthy because it was overly salty.
