    Yummy place to Eat!
    Karen W.

We happened to come across this secret gem of a restaurant by meandering down the sidewalk in search of a place to eat. We almost passed by, but then decided to give it a try because of the uniqueness of the name. We were delighted with every aspect of our visit. It did not disappoint! The pulled pork barbecued nachos melted in our mouths and the homemade chili was superb. The Reuben sandwich was the best I've ever tasted, especially with the homemade sourdough bread. We topped our dinner off with the guiltless mini desserts which were decadent to the pallet. Our server was very friendly and helpful with selections. We enjoyed our table side visit with Mike, who explained the process of using the Green Egg BBQ-er. WE WILL definitely go back and if you have any reservations about trying this quaint little place out, DON'T! This establishment pays attention to every detail, from the delicious food, right down to the atmosphere, decor and service.

Trungo's is such a fun place to dine-in. My husband and I were concluding a great evening adventure in Leesburg and decided to try Trungo's for dinner. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered and shown to a table. We did not have a reservation and I think our timing was perfect because there was a wait not long after we arrived. I ordered a Knot Head hard cider, which was local to Virginia and their specialty cheese stuffed ravioli. My husband ordered a beer and their pulled pork bbq dish. We also had a couple mini desserts to round out the evening. Everything was delicious. From the taste of the homemade pasta to the smokiness in the pulled pork. The staff is really friendly and attentive. There is local artwork for sale on display as well. I definitely recommend Trungo's to anyone who finds themselves looking for a bite in Leesburg. Thanks! :-)

The first downtown restaurant I went to. I'm native here. Never been to a restaurant in downtown until I went here. At first I was skeptical. Waitress was awesome. German beer was great. The atmosphere is very inviting and cozy. The Mac n cheese is one of the best macs I've ever had. the jalapeños make it 10x times better. Me and my gf also had the charcuterie board. All the dishes were spot on. The taste of everything was perfect.

We held at event at Trungo's and had a wonderful experience. The staff was really kind, the food was delicious, and the drink options were great! Highly recommend!

Overpriced and pushy service. Disgusting Jackfruit and side of "carrots" were disappointing. Who screws up carrots? This place, that's who. We wanted to drink water because it was warm and we were trying to rehydrate. The server, however, really wanted us all to order drinks and even tried to convince our 12 year old she should get a soda. As the server gathered plates, the server commented how one of our children must have really liked his food because he cleaned his plate but never bothered to ask if the practically untouched Jack fruit was to our satisfaction. She just offered to put it in a box and when I said "no thank you" she never bothered to follow up to ask if it was ok. She was both annoying and thoughtless. By the way, Jackfruit is an item that a restaurant really needs to know how to prepare before putting it on the menu. They clearly do not.

If you're in the area, definitely try out Trungos! The service and food is amazing, as well as the welcoming environment and staff. This place has the absolute best chili and bbq while also perfecting many plant based options. The bbq jackfruit is a beautiful texture with such a developed flavor you forget it's a plant! Pro tip: if you like it spicy, ask for the special spice blend (be careful, very hot)!

Lovely restaurant. Delicious food and great drinks. I look forward to visiting this place again.

Mikes spicy hot mix! A kind addition to the meal

Came here with my grandparents and the food was awesome. Absolutely fantastic service from Emily- so super sweet! & Mikes spicy hot mix added on the gumbo is the best!! I will be back to get more pulled pork nachos for sure- the bbq sauce on there was to die for. Loved the art on the walls too.

Unique menu of lightly smoked meats prepared on premise in green egg smoker. Menu is stylishly limited, but still provides many good choices. Service is excellent: courteous, attentive and timely. Over a few visits, we tried an excellent Caesar salad with authentic house made dressing, boneless short ribs, Cajun gumbo, and of course the house specialty pulled pork grilled cheese. All were nicely prepared and tasted delicious. Luckily we had room for the mini dessert - pot re creme chocolat, which left us with a nice finish and a desire to return soon.

If a place executes its vision at a high level and exceeds expectations for its lane, that is a 5 star experience to me. And this meal absolutely did that. We relocated to Northern Virginia a couple of years ago, so we have been exploring the dining scene here with fresh eyes. Since moving, we have visited The Wine Kitchen several times, and each visit has been consistently impressive. They are truly a gem in Leesburg. We went with the pasta tasting menu and it was an outstanding, technique driven progression that really showcased the kitchen's command of fresh pasta and sauce work. The pasta itself was the foundation of the experience, clearly house made, with impeccable texture across every course. Each shape was cooked to a true al dente, with that ideal balance of tenderness and bite that only comes from properly handled fresh dough. Nothing felt heavy or muddled, which is no small feat in a multi course pasta progression. The mushroom tortellini in brodo was beautifully restrained. The broth had deep umami from the mushroom parmesan base, yet remained clean and structured, allowing the delicate tortellini filling and chestnut mushrooms to shine. The truffled Alfredo could have easily gone overboard, but the richness was controlled, silky, properly emulsified, and well seasoned, with the truffle supporting rather than overwhelming the dish. The lobster ravioli was another technically strong plate. The pasta was thin and tender, the filling sweet and delicate, and the crab fat sauce added depth while the ginger Calabrian soffritto brought a subtle lift of heat and brightness that kept the dish from feeling too rich. The short rib rotolo delivered deep, slow cooked savoriness, balanced nicely by the ricotta and the earthy luxury of the truffle fonduta. What really made the dish stand out for me were the crispy edges on the pasta, which added a beautiful textural contrast to the tender filling. For dessert, we enjoyed the tasting menu dessert and also added the cornflake French toast. The French toast completely wowed us. Texturally, it was outstanding, crisp exterior, custardy interior, and that nostalgic cornflake crunch elevated into something refined. It had richness, sweetness, and contrast in all the right ways, and ended up being my favorite of the two desserts. Overall, this is how you do a pasta focused tasting menu with finesse, strong technique, thoughtful balance, and flavors that feel indulgent without becoming heavy. In its category, this was a 5 star experience for me, and I would absolutely come back.

We made reservations since we were a group of 6 including 2 infants, and these were warranted as the restaurant progressively filled up as we got closer to peak brunch hours. We were offered a large booth, which was appreciated as we needed space for the babies. The food here tasted quite good. My wife ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which offered tender-crisp, thick slices of braised pork belly atop soft, buttery focaccia and coated with well poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. We both highly enjoyed my Broadlands Breakfast Sandwich, a clever take on a standard bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich swapping crispy, perfectly sweet French toast for standard bread. The breakfast potatoes served alongside were crispy on the outside with fluffy interiors and good seasoning. Our friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. As the name alludes, the drink program is strong and offers something for everyone. In addition to wine and whisky, a solid selection of both cocktails and draft beers are available. Prices for both food and drinks were quite reasonable given the quality of what we received. I do dock a star for just so-so service. Our waitress was a bit MIA during the first part of our meal when we were trying to order, and then kept checking in on us every 5 minutes once our food arrived. We also had to remind her a few times to get a high chair for our little one. Fortunately, the food and drinks all arrived accurately and within a timely manner once ordered. Service woes aside, the creative fare satisfied our taste buds and we look forward to returning soon for to sample more of the brunch menu and libations.

The Seafood Cioppino itself was pretty good but not sure if I would order again as it wasn't very filling by itself. I also ordered a side of the Spinach & Oyster Mushrooms in Garlic Butter. It didn't have too much of a garlic flavor and just tasted like sauteed Spinach and Mushrooms. Overall, things were good and as it got busier, service did have some lags. I liked the warm ambience of the restaurant and would consider coming back trying some of the other items on the menu.

If you're looking for a place that is loud, with well intentioned but unskilled teenage servers serving hit or miss food at top dollar- this is exactly the place for you. If you want an environment that cares more about selling large quantities of alcohol to already intoxicated people, you've also found the place. The prime rib couldn't have been worse if they tried. It tasted like it had been bathed in liquid smoke and salt water. The meat was over cooked for the medium I ordered and it had the consistency of a cheap sirloin that can only be achieved when you don't take the time to cook it correctly. The au jus was too salty and Smokey to use- literally like a 50/50 mix liquid smoke and saltwater. The baked potato was ok on the inside but the skin and about 1/2" of the outer portions were tough as shoe leather. I don't know how that's even possible. Drink refills were few and far between. The servers are all great kids from the local high school who try hard, but the only reason they got a tip was because they are local kids that my kids know- not because the service was great. Let's talk about the noise for a minute. That place has tables crammed into every inch of that musky smelling old home. When you add in drink servers who are motivated by money and enabled by a lack of leadership- you get a bunch of loud drunks. Throw in live music and you're guaranteed to have a place so loud you can't hear anyone at your table trying to talk. The banana pudding used to be our favorite so we ordered two to go, we ended up throwing one away and the other was left half eaten. It tastes like store bought pudding with cheap whipped topping- nothing else. We have a three strikes rule and this was strike #3, definitely not coming back here. If you want quality food for the masses, Andy's down the street has great pizza for a fraction of the price of this place. Daughter Thai across the street is about the same price point as 1836, but offers consistent quality in their food with an atmosphere perfect for a family dinner. If you're looking for overpriced bar food and a place that doesn't care how many drinks you've had- I think this is the perfect place for you and your fraternity brothers. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer is good and their schnitzel platter is great, just avoid the steaks, prime rib, drinks that need refills, anything with fries and you're fine. This is our third attempt in three years and we are done. Which is sad because there aren't many options in town. Deep breath in...Unless you count the time when they closed for the night unexpectedly and we ordered them via their website because they forgot to turn off their system so they charged us and it took an hour before their system realized nothing was happening and we had to wait almost a week for them to refund the money but the owner emailed it was coming and didn't apologize or explain why they left their orders on when they closed because he really didn't seem to care about it....inhales deeply to catch breath...then this was trip #4. Either way, this place is scratched off the list unless we are looking for a bar with loose moral standards and not food.
