Trungo's is a place where Leesburg locals go. It's not Franklin BBQ - nor is it Alinea. Just a casual small menu with cold beer. Pulled pork nachos are great, as is the grilled cheese that they're "famous" for. Run by a hardworking couple, you can tell this is their labor of love. The chef is always out in the dining room checking on diners and food quality - probably every time I've been there. I've been here maybe 10 times? - and haven't had any of the waitstaff difficulties that I've read here. read more

My wife and I and our friend wwnt to dinner on 7/15/23. It was delicious. We had pulled pork Nachos as an appetizer. Lots of veges, cheese, pulled pork. Absolutely delicious. I had the Reuben, Mac and Cheese with candied Jalapeños and Cole Slaw. The Reuben was delicious. Homemade corned beef, sour kraut with gruyere cheese. It all works, best of all, the sour dough bread us homemade. Mac and cheese was creamy, very tasty. Initially, I didn't like the Cole slaw, I asked for extra sauce, much better. My wife had the low country shrimp boil. Absolutely delicious. The kicker was the homemade sausage. Our friend had a bowl of chili, it was very good, needed some more heat in my opinion. Definitely worth the drive to come check this place out! Customer service is amazing and Mike (the owner) is the best, he gave me his specialty Mikes spice to put on my candied jalapeño Mac n cheese (my all time favorite on the menu) which took the Mac n cheese to the next level (warning it does have a kick so use wisely if you request for it). I've had the jambalaya twice which is a solid choice and I love how they have an appetizer size vs. a normal entree sized. They also have vegetarian options which is great and definitely recommend the jackfruit bbq - they definitely have the smoked flavor which mimics the normal meat flavor really well. They also have a 13 piece jazz set first and third Tuesdays downstairs of this restaurant!!! read more

We happened to come across this secret gem of a restaurant by meandering down the sidewalk in search of a place to eat. We almost passed by, but then decided to give it a try because of the uniqueness of the name. We were delighted with every aspect of our visit. It did not disappoint! The pulled pork barbecued nachos melted in our mouths and the homemade chili was superb. The Reuben sandwich was the best I've ever tasted, especially with the homemade sourdough bread. We topped our dinner off with the guiltless mini desserts which were decadent to the pallet. Our server was very friendly and helpful with selections. We enjoyed our table side visit with Mike, who explained the process of using the Green Egg BBQ-er. Trungo's is such a fun place to dine-in. My husband and I were concluding a great evening adventure in Leesburg and decided to try Trungo's for dinner. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered and shown to a table. We did not have a reservation and I think our timing was perfect because there was a wait not long after we arrived. I ordered a Knot Head hard cider, which was local to Virginia and their specialty cheese stuffed ravioli. My husband ordered a beer and their pulled pork bbq dish. We also had a couple mini desserts to round out the evening. Everything was delicious. From the taste of the homemade pasta to the smokiness in the pulled pork. The staff is really friendly and attentive. There is local artwork for sale on display as well. I definitely recommend Trungo's to anyone who finds themselves looking for a bite in Leesburg. The first downtown restaurant I went to. I'm native here. Never been to a restaurant in downtown until I went here. At first I was skeptical. Waitress was awesome. German beer was great. The atmosphere is very inviting and cozy. The Mac n cheese is one of the best macs I've ever had. the jalapeños make it 10x times better. Me and my gf also had the charcuterie board. Overpriced and pushy service. Disgusting Jackfruit and side of "carrots" were disappointing. Who screws up carrots? This place, that's who. We wanted to drink water because it was warm and we were trying to rehydrate. The server, however, really wanted us all to order drinks and even tried to convince our 12 year old she should get a soda. As the server gathered plates, the server commented how one of our children must have really liked his food because he cleaned his plate but never bothered to ask if the practically untouched Jack fruit was to our satisfaction. She just offered to put it in a box and when I said "no thank you" she never bothered to follow up to ask if it was ok. She was both annoying and thoughtless. By the way, Jackfruit is an item that a restaurant really needs to know how to prepare before putting it on the menu. They clearly do not. read more

Unique menu of lightly smoked meats prepared on premise in green egg smoker. Menu is stylishly limited, but still provides many good choices. Service is excellent: courteous, attentive and timely. Over a few visits, we tried an excellent Caesar salad with authentic house made dressing, boneless short ribs, Cajun gumbo, and of course the house specialty pulled pork grilled cheese. All were nicely prepared and tasted delicious. Luckily we had room for the mini dessert - pot re creme chocolat, which left us with a nice finish and a desire to return soon. read more

The Mia hidden gem has amazing food. My favorite are the ribs, and my wife loved the Reuben sandwich. The meats are cooked in a Green Egg out back. So cool!! We also love the quaint atmosphere as well; Leesburg VA is such an awesome place. Service is very good but food can take awhile to come out so be patient, relax, enjoy a drink or an appetizer. If you have not visited this restaurant you are really missing out. The atmosphere is relaxed. The interior is rustic and immaculately clean. Walking through the door you know you will have an amazing experience here! The FOOD! Wow from the first plate! We had the Kale Salad. Perfectly tender kale with a delicious dressing. Hubby had the Reuben with a side of Colcannon and Honey Ginger Carrots and it did not disappoint. I had a hard time not stealing his carrots! The sourdough rye is made in-house and left him wanting more. I had the Chickpea Gumbo and BBQ Jackfruit side. The Gumbo was rich and so full flavored. The BBQ Jackfruit had just the right amount of smoke, sautéed onions and thick sauce that I forgot to ask if was house made. The owners are engaging and a pleasure to talk to. Is it possible to give less than one star? It had been a long time since I last visited Trungos and I was reminded today of why. I am writing this review as I'm sitting here waiting for them to box up my order to go. I guess this particular ask takes over 20 minutes-plenty of time to write a necessarily scathing review on Yelp. We ordered our food shortly after we arrived and 30 minutes later still nothing at our table. When the food finally arrived it was wrong, cold, and greasy. Who serves chili fresh out of the fridge?? To "try" to make things right, the chef brought out soufflé sized sample cups of dry pulled pork. Nothing like adding insult to injury by offering me a food I didn't even ask for. "Hey, I don't have time to make you chili, so here's something else to fill you up so you won't be hungry when your actual order comes out." When the bill came, no adjustments to the total had been made-$130 tab for what was basically two crappy meals on an 8 top. In an attempt to be alliterative, let's adopt the nickname Terrible Trungo's-much more fitting. If you go, ask them if they are ready to give us our chili as it was being held hostage. read more

This was a really pleasant surprise. After finishing some paintball this most recent Saturday we were tired and hungry. Looked around on Yelp and found this place. Walking in you can smell the food immediately and it smells so good. We were seated by a very nice lady and she gave us recommendations on the food and drinks. (The nachos were amazing!) We ordered our food and it all came out quickly and it was amazing. Afterwards the man who made everything came out to talk to all the customers in the restaurant and made sure everyone was enjoying their meal. Got the grilled cheese and i don't regret it. My family and I went there for dinner after a memorial service. Upon arriving we immediately received disrespectful service from our waitress. As a former waiter I always try to stay optimistic about service but it just didn't feel right. The entire meal our waitress was making my entire family uncomfortable and eventually lectured my sister in-law about a miscommunication about a side of Mac and cheese. My sister in-law who was the only person of color there was the only person at the table trying to calm us down for saying anything. At the end of the meal the waitress handed my sister in-law her own check after we told the waitress we were getting one check. We all enjoyed our food but there was no excuse for the horrible service we received. Myself and my family will never be back and I would encourage you to get decent bbq elsewhere. read more

This was our first visit to this restaurants. We wanted to have lunch before going to see the movie (Joker). I ordered a burger and garlic mashed potatoes. My husband ordered half/half. Tri-tip sandwich and a chickpea jambalaya. He had liked the jambalaya but he was not very happy about the tri-tip as the meat was very dry and hard to eat. My burger was supposed to be cooked to medium, but the burger was rare inside and blood was running from it and the bun was soaked with blood (gross). Mashed potatoes were okay. They've taken the burger out of our check, but I had to go to the movies hungry! What bothered us the most beside the food was the flies. There were so many flies in the restaurant and they were all over the food! Me and my husband had to keep fighting the flies. I have never eat at a restaurant where I had to fight flies. GROSS!!! When I've mentioned the flies to our waiter, he responded "We had the doors open the other day, maybe that's why they are in here". There were many of them. not one, not two, many..... You can not even count them LOL... So Gross... I do not want to go there again, but my husband thinks he could give them one more chance. read more

The waiter even brought out a sample of the potato salad because we weren't sure if we wanted it or not. They have a good selection of local beers. Wandered into this joint for some dinner and was blown away by the delicious food. How have I not found them sooner? The bratwurst is made in house and possibly the best I've ever had. The kale salad was great also. The owner popped out to check on the dining room and when he noticed we hadn't ordered any smoked pulled pork, he brought us some to taste. Outstanding! I'll definitely get that next time... IF I can stop myself from getting the brats again. And the dessert, chocolate pot de creme with some sort of crunchy brittle on top, was the perfect little sweet end. Can't wait to return! read more

Walked in and loved the decor - rustic country but not overdone like a Cracker Barrel. Our food was exquisite - taste and aesthetics all in one. The owner, Michael, was around and he made it a point to chat with all of the patrons, but not in a salesman way - he was very genuine and cared about our dining experience. As we chatted we found a mutual love for woodworking and he ended up taking me around the restaurant to show me the different decorations he created himself. He is a class act! But back to the food... I went back today but they aren't open on Wednesdays so I guess I'll have to truck on up there tomorrow! read more

My experience here at this restaurant is mixed to say the least. Needless to say, I'm torn as to whether or not I would return, but I'm leaning more towards not. Food we ordered was incredibly simple to execute, but for whatever reason, took a very long time to come to the table. Once the food arrived, it was overcooked. Once the food was corrected, the food was lackluster. Overall, the whole experience felt cheap, and the food even cheaper, and not necessarily in the monetary sense. For anyone who is interested, it was the pulled pork and cheese sandwich with a side of mac and cheese, both dishes felt amateurish at best.
