    Market salad with salmon
    Linda H.

I've visited this location and the one in Austin several times. However, it has actually been a few years since I last visited this location. The food is healthy and they have great options for vegans and vegetarians. They do have meat and fish options for those that want that. Tonight my husband and I had the edamame dumplings, market salad with salmon and the Margherita pizza. The dumplings were good but just like warm. Pizza was great! They make it with sourdough and the pizza sauce is light. The salad was good as well but I wouldn't say anything was uber exceptional today. The service was also pretty good and I say that because our waiter was a nice guy. It apparently was busier than usual and he was having a difficult time keeping up. He was still attentive but he just seemed distracted. We asked for water twice before he brought them. It also would have been nice if he had brought out salt and pepper for salad. That's it. All in all pretty decent experience. Price point can be a bit on the higher end. So I would make sure to use your Inkind app to save some money. :)

Organic and tasty food each day every day... Service and atmosphere: We received good and attentive service. The restaurant looked very modern, clean and well organised. They offer plenty of seating options as well as open bar area. Food and drinks: Organic and farm to table food concept. Some items were not cooked with seed oils. It was great to read that on the menu. The menu offered very good selection of various dishes. The foods we ordered were well presented, had good amount of seasoning and flavours. There was nothing to fault. You can also choose different drinks to accompany your meals (alcoholic beverages included). Pricing: $$ - the quality was worth every cent.

General Info: A health conscious chain restaurant that has a variety of food choices. Good: - I always like their interior design concept. - Has separate parking garage with plenty of spaces. - Location is conveniently placed next to whole foods market. Bad: - Service was horrible the last 2 times I've been here. - Food took over 30 minutes to get out. - The Korean noodle plate was over cooked. - Turkey burger was like warm when it came out. - Kids pasta dish was undercooked. - French fries tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. Overall: I've been to other locations and they've been fantastic. This location missed badly. I really wanted to like this place.

We had a solid meal at true food. They have a broad menu including a seasonal menu which is fun to browse. The classic grass fed burger was very tasty and the sweet potato hash was excellent. They also have many seasonal juices that are similar to mocktails but are much cheaper. The prickly pear one was great. Our service was fast and the waiters were friendly. Note- there is free parking in the garage.

A personal favorite of my middle sons. I had the Lasagna made with turkey and pesto and it was absolutely delicious. The service was great and we were greeted warmly. Always a great choice.

Great spot for a clean, nourishing meal in Houston. We had the Teriyaki Quinoa Bowl (one with tofu, one with chicken) -- both were flavorful and packed with fresh veggies. The Kale Aid juice was refreshing and light. The edamame dumplings are always delightful. Service was a bit slow, but the chill vibe and delicious food made up for it. Perfect for a casual lunch or dinner!

The salad was pretty standard. The salmon was really good! I'm not the biggest fan of fruit within my salad. But, it was overall fine. I will have to say, this is known as a really healthy restaurant. They will not serve you fries or soda. The interior is really nice and modern. Seating is around 50 people. I sat there for 20 minutes waiting for the check. I think that the waiter tried his best and he might have thought we wanted to chat more. Otherwise, service was fine.

10 out of 10! Upscale fancy dining atmosphere, without the ridiculous upscale prices! We were expecting it to be VERY pricey because the quality of the ingredients is literally unmatched (the only organic, grass-fed, seed-oil-free restaurant I know of), but we were surprised that each item was only $2-3 more than you would pay anywhere else! My hubby gives it a 7/10, which is REALLY good for him, because he doesn't even LIKE New American cuisine at all! (Which he calls "white people food".) On top of the lovely refined atmosphere, we both LOVED the food, and the service was prompt and excellent! I got the American Burger with the Cheesy Mashed Potatoes side, the Pomegranate Spritzer, and the Guacamole and pita bread appetizer. He got a poke bowl and the Margherita Pizza. We shared the Cosmic Bliss Lemon Sorbet and Seasonal Strawberry Tart at the end. Again, EVERYTHING was SO GOOD! I didn't even get pictures of the food because we ate it so fast! We're already planning on returning next weekend!

Grand Lux Café -- Big Space, Big Portions, Big Win…read more This was a great find. We stopped by the Grand Lux Café to share lunch with one of my mom's first cousins while we were in town for a family event. When we arrived, the restaurant felt almost empty -- but that's only because the place is huge. In a smaller restaurant, the same number of people would've had the place packed to the gills. The decor immediately caught my attention. It gave me Cheesecake Factory vibes mixed with a touch of European flair. Lots of cement pillars, reliefs up top, and floors that looked like marble (though I'm pretty sure it was tile). Either way, it worked. The space felt grand without feeling cold. The staff was friendly, the service was fast, and the food was delicious -- which is really all you can ask for. This is definitely going on my list of go-to spots when I'm visiting the area again. This place would be perfect for large family gatherings or group meals. On our way out, I noticed a really nice bar area that looked ideal for small group meetups or quick lunch meetings. It felt versatile -- whether you're there to linger or just grab a bite. Now let's talk dessert. Right at the front entrance is a full dessert display where you can buy slices of cakes and pies -- or possibly the whole thing to take home. That part really reminded me of the Cheesecake Factory. And the food portions? Almost obscene. Generous doesn't even fully cover it. Huge plates, bold flavors, and nothing tasted bland. Maybe it's something in the Texas water, or maybe Texans just like their food rich and flavorful -- either way, my California taste buds didn't even need to reach for the salt. I highly recommend this place. If you're in the area, give it a try. And if something isn't quite right, let the staff know -- I get the sense they'll do their best to make it right. Enjoy the food journey.

Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!

Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, and our waitress really stood out. What impressed me most was the attention to detail while taking our order. Instead of simply writing everything down, she asked thoughtful questions to make sure our meals were exactly how we wanted them--whether we preferred our bacon extra crispy, if I wanted to substitute my side salad for hash browns, and how I'd like my eggs cooked. Those little touches made the experience feel much more personalized. If you're looking for a brunch cocktail, I highly recommend the Strawberry Martini Mimosa. It was light, refreshing, and the perfect complement to brunch. For food, I absolutely loved the Bravocado Toast. I added bacon and swapped the salad for hash browns, and it was a great choice. My daughter ordered the Classic Breakfast and really enjoyed it as well. Even if pancakes aren't usually your thing (they aren't mine!), don't skip them here. We shared one, and it ended up being one of our favorite bites of the meal. The edges had a slight crisp while the inside was soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. Parking was easy with a large free parking lot, which is always a bonus. Another perk is the location--you can make a day of it by shopping at Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls/HomeGoods, and Old Navy, all within the same shopping center. If you're still in the mood to browse after brunch, The Galleria is just a short drive away for even more shopping (and a chance to walk off all that delicious food!). I wasn't sure what to expect based on the name of the restaurant, but essentially their seafood options are spectacular. And it feels like an exclusive club because the decor and service are both very much high class and special. We tried the coconut shrimp as the appetizer and really liked it. It was lightly fried and the shrimp was cooked to perfection - not under and not over. I would highly recommend this one to start. Loved it. If you're looking for a fair-priced meal, they have lots of salad and sandwich options. I tried the salmon poke bowl and it was so delicious. The fish was extremely fresh, and all the flavors blended together really well. It was like a healthy party in my mouth. It was great decision. You wanna splurge a bit and live large like YOLO? You gotta get the crab cake. Now, how good can a crab cake be? Well, if you're paying close to $50 for one crab cake, you better believe it's gonna be freaking awesome. And alas, it was. Best crab cake I've ever had in my life, no joke. And I've tried a lot of crab cakes in my many decades of dining out. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back many times. Enjoy! Quick note on parking - plenty of parking in a huge lot shared by many businesses such as Kenny and Ziggy's. Only annoying part is several sections of the lot are designated for specific businesses, so just look for the signs and be willing to park a little bit further away towards Taco Deli and Bluestone.

I was excited to finally try Balboa Surf Club since I drive by it all the time and it's located…read morenear several of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 8:30 PM. While delays happen and I was willing to overlook that, the experience only went downhill from there. We ordered Palomas to kick off our Friday night. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they did, they were noticeably watered down. I politely mentioned it to our server, who quickly took them back and brought replacements, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second round was nearly identical to the first. When I brought it up again, instead of acknowledging the feedback, the server responded by saying it was "just not a sugary drink." That completely missed the point. I wasn't expecting a sweet cocktail--I was pointing out that the drinks tasted diluted and poorly made. What bothered me most wasn't the drinks themselves, but how the feedback was handled. I wasn't looking for free drinks or trying to be difficult. I was simply offering honest feedback, and it felt like my opinion was being dismissed rather than heard. Unfortunately, the food didn't redeem the experience. We ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and most were overwhelmingly salty. The salt overpowered any other flavors to the point that we couldn't finish some of the dishes. The sushi was the best thing we had, but even that lacked the presentation and quality I would expect at this price point. To be fair, the manager did remove the drinks from our bill as a courtesy, and I appreciate that gesture. However, by that point the damage had already been done. A resolution is only effective when guests feel heard and respected throughout the process. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my opinion and justify my feedback before anyone took it seriously. At the end of the day, a restaurant can be trendy, crowded, and beautifully designed, but none of that matters if the food and service don't deliver. Balboa Surf Club has the atmosphere and location, but in my experience it falls short where it matters most. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it because I had always been curious, but now I know I won't be back and cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a similar concept, I'd recommend Hudson House. The atmosphere is comparable, but the drinks are consistently well-made, the food is much better, and the service has always been far superior.

The chicken fingers with fries and mac & cheese were genuinely good--crispy, satisfying, and probably the highlight. But the rest of the sides didn't hold up. The coleslaw tasted like it came straight out of a can, and the roasted artichokes were overwhelmed with a liquid smoke flavor that made them completely inedible. Service was another issue. One waitress initially took our order, but about ten minutes later, a second waitress came over to let us know she couldn't read the first one's handwriting and asked us to repeat everything. Drinks arrived just a couple of minutes before the food, which felt poorly timed. The final straw was when we asked to box up leftovers. The waitress stacked all of our plates--about six of them--on top of the food we wanted to take home and carried everything to the back. That completely killed any interest in keeping the leftovers. In the end, it felt more like a casual chain dining experience than the elevated, cozy steakhouse we expected.

I tried the Lobster Pappardelle and it's was good although a bit pricy. I enjoyed the happy hour cocktails. They make a good dirty martini. Location is very nice and the restaurant has a really nice bar area and the tables are fancy, this is a nice attire or business casual.

East coast oysters: 9/10 absolutely love them! The Prince Edward Island ones always have my heart! A little on the smaller side though Gulf coast oysters: 8/10 I'm usually not a gulf coast oyster person but I enjoy how hearty and fresh these ones were. And I also don't usually love the cocktail sauce but this one was rly good a little savory, spicy, and sweet and a healthy amount of lemon juice of course. Deviled eggs: 10/10 these were nice and creamy and had good crunchy texture with the bacon bits and pickles Steak nigiri: 8/10 I would have scored these lower if it weren't for the steak. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly but it the rice underneath just felt out of place and unnecessary and not too mention too plentiful. I would love a plate of just the steak and the compote or sauce that was on top. I will definitely be coming back and trying more items on the menu!
