I finally tried Brassica for the first time during their 11 year anniversary celebration, and what an introduction! They were celebrating by giving everyone a complimentary entrée, so there was definitely a line outside but after eating my meal, I completely understand the hype. I built a salad with greens, grains, hummus, crispy onions, brisket and chicken, sweet beets, cabbage, marinated eggplant, cauliflower, roasted carrots, special sauce, and so much more. Every bite had a different combination of flavors and textures, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. I loved being able to customize my bowl with so many different options, especially without sacrificing flavor. And let me tell you about the Brassica fries DO NOT skip them! They were crispy, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite parts of the meal. They are an absolute must if you're visiting. For my first experience at Brassica, I was seriously impressed. There was a long line to order and kids were also with us, so do be prepared to stand in the line if you come with kids. Same concept as Cava but less toppings to choose from and less portion size. This place was quite delightful! I was looking for an alternative to Salata for a quick/healthy meal, and this did not disappoint. I tried the hummus plate with falafel and my boyfriend had a salad with chicken. Both were excellent, but it seems like you get a bit more food in the salad. Every ingredient felt like it was so well crafted. We each had all of the toppings and all of the flavors were prominent and delicious. It also helps that I am a huge fan of things like cauliflower, cabbage, etc (which, side note, their name Brassica is a nod to those ingredients). We both really enjoyed how soft and fluffy the pita bread was that came with my hummus plate. The menu is small but they're a good example of how you don't have to do it all, just do things well. The vibe feels very clean and I cannot emphasize enough that they've paid attention to every single detail. I even appreciated how well labeled the drinks area was--it was immediately obvious which tap had seltzer water. This is kind of exciting. Some trustworthy friends recommended the falafel here advising me that it is made to order as opposed to just sitting around in a steam table all day. The sandwich is about $12. And comes with a thick, whole wheat pita, and your choice of different fixings. Now, the falafel that I make at home is actually a kind of a 50-50 recipe of an Egyptian fava recipe and a Lebanese chickpea recipe. It has a lot of parsley and cilantro so it's fairly green in the center and then the flavor profile comes from cumin, coriander, garlic, pepper, and salt. The staff here is wonderful. Super friendly and right on top of their game. With big smiles all around. And now, it's time to taste the falafel.. Oh man, it really IS good. This is a good falafel. Brassica, brassica, brassica, what else can I say about you that I haven't already said? I was SO happy to hear that they were expanding outside of OH and of all places, happened to be in Houston. This is a fast casual spot that serves amazing, fresh, and tasty Mediterranean food. The staff at this location were super welcoming and friendly and again, I'm just so glad they're only a drive away rather than a flight. Foodwise, you can choose from a pita sandwich, hummus bowl, or salad bowl and can add proteins like falafel, chicken, or brisket. You fill up your vessel of choice with various veggies, grains, etc. along with choices of sauces (everything tastes great and I have not been let down). I do think the Texas location uses beef for the brisket instead of lamb (but maybe that's also changed at the Columbus locations I used to visit). Their fries are also very crisp and come with seasoning and a dipping sauce and is a perfect side to go with any of their entree options. They also have their inhouse brassarita which is their play on a margarita and is great if you want a nice, frozen beverage or you can go for their mint pink lemonade. I do wish Brassica were closer to me but maybe its good it isnt as I'd likely be eating it too often. However, I do highly recommend folks to come out and try it. To celebrate Brassica's birthday, they offered guests a free entree; the folks came running for this unbeatable deal! Every time I visit, I am more and more impressed. It was an 1 hour & 15 min wait that was well worth it! What sets Brassica apart from many other fast casual eateries is their consistent customer service. I can't recall any other fast casual eatery offering to take my tray nor refill my drink -- unasked). While standing in the line snaking their building, withstanding the Houston late summer heat, everyone was in good spirits, and the Brassica staff were nice enough to bring out 12 oz cups of cold water. How thoughtful! By the time I was able to place my order, I was more than happy to spend more money than I originally planned to simply based on their staff's consistent kindness to each patron (the line seemed to continuously grow). I was able to get a full and fulfilling order: chicken/brisket salad bowl with all the fixins (beets, pickled cabbage, roasted carrots, baba, crispy onions, you name it!), pita bread, and of course, a side order of the best fries on this side of the bayou (there's no proper Brassica visit without it)! I have never heard of this place so we went to a workout class next-door and found this cute little Mediterranean spot. The options were limited they have hummus and bubble ganache. I wish I lived in Houston just so that I could eat here regularly. This is my kind of food! It's so healthy and full of many different colors. I was hangry about to drop dread and this lunch revived me. I got a salad bowl with chicken and pretty much every topping except for the fried toppings and the cucumber. I love how many veggies and colors were in my bowl!!! I got the house sauce (yogurt based) on the side. I would absolutely get the same thing again. I love that the rice has lentils because it adds fiber and protein. The rice is brown rice which is technically harder on digestion, but they cooked it perfectly. It was very tender. I didn't finish my bowl so I'll be happily eating the leftovers on the plane. The pita is made with whole wheat flour. I did not try it but it looked really good and my little brother didn't hate it as much as he thought he would (he hates healthy food).) I tried one of his fries and thought it was really good. I'm trying to lose weight postpartum so cookies are not a part of my diet right now......but I would break my diet for this tahini chocolate chip cookie any day of the week. Basically, your base is a pre made thinly cut romaine lettuce salad with lemon and olive oil. The employee was mixing the salad base in front of us with fresh lemon and oil. Then they add a lentil rice base. Then you choose hummus or baba. And then the meats--The brisket was delicious and my friend said the chicken was also tender and flavorful. Then come the sides of vegetables. Each vegetable has a unique and fresh taste. We also wanted to try the falafels and omg I'm so glad we did. They came out piping hot and crispy with a perfectly soft interior and a delicious dipping sauce. I also got a pita on the side and omg it was so different than pitas I've had in the past. SO fresh. Think falafel, pickled cucumbers, beets, roasted carrots, eggplant, and of course the dips and sauces. For those that are caught in the protein craze, don't worry, they have meat options too. I opted for a salad bowl with falafel and got almost all of the veggie toppings. I don't eat meat or dairy so I was pleased to see so many tasty options that fit within my dietary preferences. The bowl was delicious. I would absolutely get this again. Speaking of dairy free, it's pretty hard for me to find desserts that fit for my diet so I was THRILLED to see that they had huge chocolatey chip cookies with sea salt on top that are vegan. Ok, the fact that Houston has a Brassica is legit one of the best things that could have happened for me. This was one of my favorite places in. Columbus and it was so exciting to see it out here as well! The food, as always, was impeccable. We went through the curbside pickup line, where we were greeted almost immediately and they got to work on our fries. The pickup spots are on the side of the building so they can be a little hard to spot but they are labeled with the same iconic pink sign!
