This is a nice find in Orange! Very popular and busy when we went but the service is great and fast. I ordered the avocado toast and thought it was good but could be so much better. As avocado toasts go, this was perhaps a bit too simple. There wasn't enough of the Lemon Pepper seasoning (nor was it applied broadly across the avocado). So it lacked overall brightness of flavor. I also think adding a textural element like radishes would make it better. I noticed on the receipt my order said "no egg," but I wasn't asked if I wanted an egg--I would have said yes! The protein would have been a nice addition. Again--the avocado toast was good. Just not great. My almond milk latte was surprisingly good! Surprising because I tend to have low expectations unless I'm at a coffeehouse that doesn't also have an extensive food menu (or wine). They have indoor and outdoor seating and we lucked out with a table for two outside. I'll definitely be back. Eager to try other things on the menu. read more

This place is super cool. It's not often you find a coffee shop where you can also grab a decent bite and a beer. The service was super friendly and helpful. The guy that helped us told me that most things could be customized. I decided to take their caprese salad, add chicken, and put it in a panini! Note: was it *actually* a panini when it came out? No, it wasn't lol. It was a chicken caprese sandwich on toasted sourdough. Nonetheless, it was good. Coffee was also good. My big qualm is that the lettuce they used was old and wilted and, let me tell you, I paid the price for that for a good 3-4 hours after. Definitely do better there, TruBru! A few friends recommended Tru Bru so I thought I would check it out. It's a cute coffee shop with a variety of drinks, food, and bakery items. I got an iced matcha latte (with agave and oat milk) which was alright but I would recommend getting their coffee drinks instead. There are plenty of tables so it's a great place to meet with friends, study, or do some work! The only complaint I have is the limited number of outlets available which makes it difficult if you need to charge. read more

Delicious pastries!!! My mom brought me some scones and muffins to try from Tru Bru and they were so good! I tried the banana oat muffin, which was perfectly moist and not overly sweet! Came here on a weekend ~12PM. Luckily I found a table right away. Ordered a Matcha latte and avocado toast. Love that there's an option whether you want half a portion (1 toast) or full portion (2 toasts). I chose half portion and it's perfect for a light brunch. The avocado is super fresh and I believe they have sprinkled some nutritional yeast on the toast which added some cheesy flavor there and covered it with lemon juice. I do wish that perhaps they could use less lemon juice as it could get a little sour for some people but with drinks together it works fine. Should've added an egg for an add on! Love the coffee art on my drink and I recommend adding some syrup in your latte. TIPS: they do not turn on wifi before 2PM during the weekends as it is usually rush hours. So be mindful on the time you spend there as it's a popular brunch place over the weekend :) It's a great spot for meet ups / hangout but I wouldn't come here for work / study even thought they have outlets next to several tables. I just found this gem of a coffee shop. Atmosphere is vibrant. Lots of people coming and going, so if you like lots of life, this is the place. Servers are nice too! I haven't had food yet but everyone around me that does have food seems to be enjoying it and it looks amazing. My only issue is that people come and go and leave the door open and the flies are almost as abundant as the patrons. Maybe fly management system could help. Don't get me wrong, it won't stop me from coming here since everything else about this place outweighs some insects. read more

My partner and I have been coming here for about a year now. We never were disappointed until maybe the last 2-3 visits. Partner is a huge fan of matcha so he often gets the matcha latte and the last couple of times he has gotten this drink, it tasted like milk or barely any matcha. Also no seasonal drinks? Bummer :/ I'm an avid coffee drinker and I normally get lattes and today was the first time I was disappointed with the drink. I normally asked for hazelnut flavoring but there was no hazelnut flavoring, just coffee and milk. I could get a better coffee down the street at DK donuts. I ordered a croissant today too just to try it out and the center seemed more dense and not as flaky - probably my fault for not getting it toasted but it was so busy I didn't want to add to the busy-ness. Service was slower than usual today. Same crowd size but slower and seemed a bit more disorganized, as employees were bumping into each other and being guided on what to do. It wasn't as pleasing to see but I guess I came on an off day. Overall a review on the drinks from the last couple of visits. I've been to this place over 10x and I'll always keep coming back It's hands down my favorite place in OC because their lattes actually taste like they were made with espresso and they have that good ice (you know exactly what kind I'm talking about!) Always consistently great drinks and food. The only problem is parking and seating can be hard to come by especially during busy hours. If you're looking for someplace quiet to study then this may not be for you. It's average to loud with cars and motorcycles passing by and friends meeting up, but that comes with being in Orange and right next to the street. read more

One sip and I was sold. I found this place on yelp while looking for coffee shops to study in. Found it in the outskirts of Orange past the mountains. The area is really nice, calm, and low key, gives off Palisades vibes. As you turn the corner into the coffee shop you see most of the establishments made out of this brown wood material. The cafe gives off Urth Cafe vibes with options for breakfast, lunch, and coffee. They also freshly bake all their sweets but get their bread delivered daily. On a Thursday afternoon in the middle of the day, this place was packed! I found one table empty and grabbed it immediately. As rustic as the place looks, they're pretty modern and accept apple pay/samsung pay. I asked the friendly barista for a recommendation and she said they specialize in lattes, chai latte being the go to if you want something sweet. For $4.50 a drink with organic roasted beans and no artificial flavors, I was already sold. One sip and I was in heaven. This place is a little out of my way but if you're in the area, DEFINITELY make a stop. Parking says its 1 hour only but one of the employees assured me I would be find staying for a few hours, there's no security going around. Tables inside and outside a plenty if you're looking to eat, study, or hang out. Outlets all along the walls and hidden underneath the booth on the far end. They also have a couch area with fireplace going if you're just looking to chill. Wifi is fast and secured. The ONLLY downside was my table kept shaking a lot so my coffee spilled over. Wanna update: yelp check-in for 20% off isn't valid. They didn't tell the yelp to remove and they won't honor that. They switch to collect stars system like Starbucks. You can collect 100 stars to get a drink. I don't know how that works. The front cashier told me they won't be able to give me 20% off but they can give me 5 stars if I would like to put my phone number in. I was like....forget about it. This time I wanna order Ice Blended without flavors. Yet they don't have any because they need to add the power for the texture. I am a bit disappointed. Kinda out grown mocha frap or any other flavor. One thing made me confused is...there is no price on their coffee board over head. They have price for adding syrups. Ordered a medium latte and wanted to add lavender syrup. The drink came out about $5.25. 75 cents for syrup. Forgot to tell them light ice. They do give lots of ice. I did see lot of people bringing their fur baby with them and staying outside. I went during their breakfast hour so we ordered three dishes from the menu along with three drip coffee. On the day I went they had Brazilian and Isabella coffee today. Brazilian was darker roast and Isabella was lighter roast. The store inside is a very cute place. They have organic coffee beans along the side of the window by the couch. They also have a fireplace to keep the inside warm. Plenty of other chairs inside along with bar area and long booth in the middle. They roast their own coffee there on the cool roaster. They also have really good teas along with alcoholic drinks. Food: Breakfast burrito with black forest ham was very good and it came with cup of salsa which was good but adding some habanero tabasco made it taste twice better French toast cane with different assortment of fruits on top along with maple syrup. I liked that the syrup wasn't poured on top when it came out Avocado toast with added sunny side up eggs. My egg was little bit more on the cooked side but it was good. The hint of lemon flavor was the best part Drip coffee was definitely good. I had four cups of coffee while I was having a good catch up session with a friend. We were there from 10 am till 2 pm and people kept coming in and out. Definitely a spot for hikers and biker and even regular locals. I love the place and will definitely go visit next time I am near the area. I do want to go and try their beers they have on tap. read more

Solely picked this spot because it was located across the street from our race transition and saw "organic" in the name. Well, another winner and very happy with everything about this little coffee shop. We actually were looking for food. They have a small but satisfying menu with a variety of options. Also, although it wasn't on my radar initially, I decided to order a blended coffee drink with lavender and vanilla (only because I saw they have the lavender option on the board). I ordered the smoked salmon on wheat toast which was perfection. Although it was only 2 slices of bread, I was actually full after the 1st one. The restroom...on a serious note, a clean bathroom earns you bonus points. Not that this place needed any, but the restroom was clean and had great signs inside. Yes, please wash your hands & yes, positive loving words. Highly recommend this spot and although I don't live in the area, I will happily visit again when nearby. I finally got to check out Tru Bru Organic Coffee on SundayFunday, COVID-edition: January 10, 2021. Since I wasn't in a hurry nor did I have to be somewhere (I know, surprise, right?!), I decided to order upon arrival rather than my typical phone-in. Tru Bru is located in the Orange Canyon Village. It was my first time to the shopping plaza. It reminded me of the Malibu Country Mart; it has the vibe of an older western type of town. I definitely felt like breaking out my cowboy boots and cowboy hat :) Parking is definitely challenging due to the makeshift outdoor patio area which takes up a few spots. I got lucky and found a spot a few hundred feet from the shop. Masks are required upon entry. Employees are wearing masks but many of the patrons were not. Again, I have to make it known that I'm not a fan of masks, but I wear them out of respect and consideration for others. It was packed and busy. I didn't realize it's also a sit-down restaurant. And yes, people are dining inside. There is a sense of normalcy here but I was shocked to see people actually dining inside. So if you're uncomfortable or weirded out due to the pandemic, I don't recommend coming here. Once inside, the order line forms closest to the cashier (right side) - just look for the social distancing markers on the floor. It was a little confusing because it was so busy. Pick up is on the left where the sign says, well, "pick up." :) I do love the vibe here. I'm definitely coming back to do some work, maybe meet my future husband, hang out with friends for a Sunday Brunch or just grab a latte, sit back and relax. I read online that Tru Bru Organic Coffee's roots are in Brazil. They are best known for roasting its beans daily and using all organic and fair-trade ingredients. LOVE that. They offer everything from espresso-based drinks and handmade baked goods using non-GMO ingredients and of course made with a whole "latte" love. YAS! Pre-COVID, they served up beer + wine to complement live music. I definitely want to come back for that once this pandemic is behind us. That said, I ordered a vanilla latte and a chocolate chip cookie. Due to the crowd, it was about a 10 minute wait from the time I placed my order. I'm used to the consistency and efficiency of Starbucks, but the uniqueness and special-ness (is that even a word?) of good coffee shops always warms my heart. My latte was delicious and had a nice kick of caffeine to keep me energized n kickin all day :) Also, I always love it when baristas go the extra step to make latte foam art. For me, I appreciate the details. 5/5 The homemade cookie was BOMB. It was lightly toasted and the middle was soooo soft! It's exactly how I like my cookies ;) 5/5 Prices are comparable to most coffee shops and even Starbucks. Overall I had an amazing caffeinated experience. I visited this place late on a weekday afternoon. The interior is hip-rustic with a welcoming vibe (some comfy chairs and fireplace). The gals working here were chipper and provided excellent customer service. It wasn't too busy since it was an off-hour but the majority of customers were obviously from the nearby college. I ordered a hot vanilla latte and a grilled cheese sandwich. They have quite a variety of simple food options on their menu. My name was called out to pick up my latte at the counter when it was ready while, conversely, my plate with grilled cheese and salad was brought to my table. The latte was superb - a top notch roast which provided a smooth flavor with a vanilla undertone. The grilled cheese was made with a combination of provolone and cheddar cheeses between buttery-greasy sourdough bread. Very good, very tasty but nothing beyond what you could make at home. I drive pretty far just to get breakfast here at least once a week. I'm a huge fan of the veggie scrabble and their iced chai tea latte. They also have a fantastic breakfast burrito and avocado toast. I love that they have organic coffee and teas as well as gluten free bread which is very hard to find sometimes. The staff is always extremely friendly and I've always had great service. Seating can be hard to come by depending on the time of day on the weekend, but you never have to wait too long to dine in. I want to say I've been frequenting this coffee shop over the course of my college experience. Usually, the staff are quite welcoming and the coffee is good. Sadly, this was not my experience today. I don't ever mind waiting and I'm very polite but the cashier today gave me such a scathingly icy attitude and I laughed to break the tension when she asked for my preferred milk in the coffee - I was very polite and smiled and I could feel that for whatever reason she didn't like me which I just initially wrote off as maybe the staff is shy or tired, totally fine. The drink was weirdly sour tasting. Which is fine, everyone has a bad day and working customer service jobs are not easy - I would know. I've worked several service jobs throughout college. However after giving me this attitude, she proceeded to hand several people drinks who were waiting in line behind me or ordered after me to which I patiently waited for my drink. Disappointing to say the least, I'm not expecting 5 star service but I am expecting professionalism. The ambiance is great and typically - the staff are very kind but for whatever reason I was greeted with a rather frigid and unwelcoming attitude today despite my polite demeanor. Even worse my drink tasted sour but I didn't want to make the staffs day worse so I just beared with it I do not expect an apology but I hope the management takes this into careful consideration and has a nice chat with the woman working at the front today. The woman passing the food out was very nice and warm but the cashier I interacted with today was not. I hope this person's day gets better and hope that the customer service improves in the future. Order off their app and skip the lib Pro Tip: the Friday morning crew is not the caliber of the weekend crew so if you are going to order online, order your drinks in one order, wait 10 minutes, and then order your food in a separate orderor your food will get cold while you're waiting for your drinks, even when it's not busy. I just watch them give a girl free drink cards because her drink order was taking forever and her food was already there. Once her drinks came out later, they took her drink carts away. We were both a little surprised I have been coming here at least once a week for years and heavily supported them during the pandemic and I love the weekend crew, but the Friday morning crew is something I don't think I want to repeat.
