So, we walked in, stood at the bar, meandered to the register. After about ten minutes of being ignored, someone grudgingly came over and took our order, told us we had to pick a side dish, forgot to give it to us, gave us a smoothie that had to be redone(which they did in a VERY INAPPROPRIATE WAY - poured the partially drunk smoothie back into the blender and added sweetener to it. Doesn't that potentially endanger other customers?) They seem exhausted, and maybe new to managing a business, but the service needs an upgrade. I give this location a 5 out the door because of the Happy Hour! Daily Mon-Fri till 9 am. Drinks are magically changed to $2.99. All drinks protein, indulgent and kids. The theme to it. Bright tropic colors and plenty of seating to include bar, booth or tables. I bar seating faces the smoothie area I wouldnt mind that but looking out the window even if its the parking lot would be nice. Spacious parking and two 15 minute parking slots in the immediate front. This location is in a plaza with various other businesses so you can stop in before a movie or after a workout. For starters there are too many teenage girls who lack common customer service skills working and interacting with customers. These young girls need training and a mature supervisor. Worst Tropical Cafe Smoothie ever . If I could rate this tropical smoothie below a 0. I absolutely would .This incident occurred at 5860 Harbour view blvd ,Suffolk,VA 23435. Not only that, this manager was rude, never greeted me or said hi,disrespectful, and would not accept my coupon code . All of my orders were incorrect. I have a dairy allergy and informed the manager over the phone when I did a pickup. When I got there for the pick up, My smoothies were melted and weren't in the refrigerator / fridge. Last week, when went I went to this location my smoothie was all melted and had to be remade over. So , I was cautious and wanted to make sure that my smoothies wasn't melted . The place was clean. A little TOO clean. I went in during peak lunch hours to pick up a phone order I placed for a Paradise Combo (or whatever it's called), which included a smoothie Bahama Mama, a wrap (Chicken Caesar), and a bag of chips. I asked if I could replace the typical 24 oz. cup with a smaller one, since 24 ounces of fruity sugaryness would be a little rough on my waistline. I was told that the only size cup they had was the 24 oz, and that, if I wanted, they could split half of a regular smoothie into two 24 oz. cups... which made zero sense to me... In the end, I just took the 24 oz. cup, and only drank 1/4 of it. Also the wrap was extremely underwhelming. It had lettuce, tomato, chicken, and the Caesar dressing, and when I got back to the office to unwrap it, the whole thing was warm. Lettuce included. I thought it was going to be a cold wrap, wasn't expecting it to be tossed into the microwave. Also, some of the lettuce was brown and wilty. All of that would have been fine... if the combo plus tax didn't come to almost TWELVE dollars! It would have been nice if I'd gotten a subtotal of the order before coming in; don't most places give you a subtotal before you come in and pick up? I won't be returning. I went to this establishment today & was ignored by the manager who was talking to a tech support of some kind at the register. Work-related preoccupation, I get it. (I'm assuming he was a manager, because I waited for my smoothies he began conducting an interview). I ordered 3 PB Cup Smoothies & 1 Kiwi Quencher w/splenda substitute & B12 added in. The last PB Cup Smoothie didn't fill the cup. The young lady who was working the blenders asked me if it was "okay", which I smiled & agreed because from my position it look fuller in the cup than it was, it might've been a tilted cup when she showed me. It was actually about an inch & a half below the rim, I don't even know why I was asked if it was okay. I balanced the cups out when I got home with a spoon. Goodness, & then... Insider information - I enjoy fresh food and good quality service. This specific Tropical Smoothie is poorly managed and enjoys gouging the community. Bananas are purchased from local stores that would normally be discarded due to freshness at a steeply discounted price and passed on to the consumer as fresh. Portions are now being cut and discounts are being eliminated in order to make a buck. The Corporate office has made numerous trips to this Tropical smoothie to talk to management over continued poor service to the community. Many moons ago when I was in college I worked at the Harbor View Movie Theater, that's when I discovered Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and I've been going back ever since. I was just telling my roommate the other day that I can't tear myself away from the Jetty Punch smoothie (strawberry and banana). I've tried a few of their other smoothies, even some of the dessert ones, but I always come back to the Jetty Punch. It's the perfect treat for a hot summer days. Also they have a bunch of wraps to pick from but the best one by far is the King Caesar wrap, which has huge chunks of chicken and a really good, creamy Caesar dressing sauce. I've tried the buffalo chicken wrap as well, but it's just not as good as the King Caesar.
