Tried Triola's Kitchen for the first time for our 2nd anniversary. First, the inside of the restaurant has a very cozy and homey feel especially since it's a Christmas time. But, I think it was also because the main chef Mr. Triola was serving the guests the entire time. We ordered cozze bianco (black mussels) as an appetizer and ordered spaghetti meatballs and lasagna bolognese and they were all very delicious and filling. For tiny human beings like us, two entrees would be enough for 3 of us instead . We felt very special as Mr. Triola himself took care of our table and to finish off with their delicious italian style cheesecake made our night extra sweet! Super rich, decadent Italian food! Wish there salad on their HRW menu was on their regular menu. Can't go wrong with the lasagna, the Parm, the cannelloni... It's all so good. It's been byob for a while, but looks like they're getting a beer and wine permit. Valet only, but no big deal. read more

I really cannot say enough about how much I love this restaurant. We had a private event here hosted by the Hostess with the Mostess, Megan. We had a party of 26 people which was perfect as the space truly felt cozy and intimate (soo much love in the room!). I loved all the personal touches like the sweet little glass raindeer that decorate the staircase hand rail, the red holiday curtains, and a spacious and clean bathroom for our toddler. The food was delicious. Calamari had a special crunch that really hit the spot. The artichoke was AMAZING! I've never had stuffed artichoke before (drool). I love a good spag and ball, which is a true test of a good Italian restaurant. The spaghetti and meatball was a home run hit. The sauce tasted fresh. This is a small space and the tables feel a bit too close. It is also loud. The service feels hurried, but overall very good. The food portions are big. The house bread seemed a bit stale 3.5/5. We recently hosted an annual Christmas party for old friends. The delivery got crossed up, probably user error by me. On the day of the event, Megan, the owner and wife of Chef Frank, fixed everything and topped it off by personally delivering our meal. She helped us set everything up. Lives up to all the hype and didn't disappoint. Simply the best Italian meal I've had since 1980s favorite Josephina's in Denver. Let me begin by having Chef Frank greet us at the entrance and then seeing that we were seated in the restaurant. He was so attentive and answered all our questions about the menu and checked often on our dining experience. I was daring and decided to try the Seafood lasagna. It was a risk as I've had at other restaurants and it's always been a mistake. The seafood lasagna was truly "the Bomb" seriously delicious with fresh seafood and simply the best pasta ever!!! I could taste the crab from the shrimp! Yummy. The spinach lasagna (two of us split seafood and spinach lasagna) was simply delicious! You must try the seafood lasagna!!! We didn't get any bread, I guess you have to ask for it, but even if we had don't know that I'd have any room for it. For appetizers we had calamari (nice crunchy coating) and the stuffed artichoke. Was nervous about returning to this spot. It was SO EXCELLENT the first time. Didn't wanna have a different experience. I needn't have worried. It was OUTSTANDING. Started with truffle burrata. The food is amazing, the ambiance friendly and comfortable and the service spectacular!!!

The chef took care of my partner and I and it was not a great experience. He is homophobic but tried to make it seem like he wasn't. He checked on us during our meal and proceeded to tell us about a person he knows that is a part of the LGBTQ community and how he doesn't care what they do on their own time... he then describes how he shows his belly (meaning they wear crop tops) and tells my partner and I that he told him he can't act like that around his kids. And he needs to be more of a man... After he said this, my partner and I looked at each other in disbelief. I'm not sure why he felt comfortable enough to tell us this, but it did not sit well with us at all. After this, all we could do was just smile and nod. We tried to finish our meal and leave as quickly as we could. Our experience was tainted after that interaction. read more

I booked Triola's kitchen for a private dining event last week for a party of 10, and everyone in our party were blown away by Chef Frank's incredible cuisine. The restaurant itself is delightful - a cozy spot right off Main Street, where you instantly feel at home. Frank and his wife Megan, the owners, are the kindest people, and are completely invested in making you feel right at home from the minute you walk in. The restaurant is BYOB, so make sure you pick up a nice bottle before you arrive. The meal started off with the best stuffed mushrooms you'll ever have, amazing calamari and assorted antipasti, then quickly took us on an epic pasta tour of spaghetti bolognese, spicy Italian sausage pasta (I forget the Italian name for this, but I know Frank or Megan know exactly what I a, referring to), lasagna, topped off with chef Frank's award winning lamb chops. Did we overeat? Absolutely. Did we have dessert? Most definitely. Chef makes all his desserts from scratch, and our favorites were the bread pudding and key lime pie. It is utterly amazing how this busy restaurant can have such delicious Italian dishes on their menu and get everyone of them superbly done. Six of us went for a birthday dinner and ordered six different main courses. Every one was perfect Needless to say desserts were fantastic as well. The service in this three story tight restaurant is amazing too. We were on the third level and I don't know how the waiters ,etc were able to bring up all the dishes at the right temperature and not get winded. They could use a "dumb waiter" but where could you fit it in. Seating was very comfortable and no one was not able to move around. This restaurant is one of the best in Houston. Go!!! read more

I had heard lots of great thing about Triolas and was very excited to try it! We received a warm welcome from the owner upon arrival who placed our large party of 6 at her favorite table. There were balloons on the table as I had indicated on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. That was a very nice touch. The restaurant is fairly small, and very quiet (which may be a pro for some and a con for others) The best part about this restaurant is that it is BYOB with no cork fee. The waiter was kind and walked us through the menu. He offered us an appetizer sampler so that we could try a few things. We ended up choosing four appetizers for the table, although he recommended choosing six. The appetizers were all very good. The baked mozzarella was a favorite! I had the lasagna for dinner which was tasty. All the other members my party enjoyed their meals as well. We selected two desserts for the table at the end of the meal, and they came out on a platter that said happy birthday. A few comments/critiques: 1) One of the members of my party asked for no meat in his pasta as it was a Friday in lent, but it came with chicken in it. He told the waiter to which he responded "it's on the house" which would have been fine any other day. He had to pick around the chicken. 2) We ordered the strawberry dessert and the tiramisu, but the tray came out with cheesecake instead of tiramisu. By the time we had noticed, the server was gone and we didn't feel the need to have it switched out. 3) The way that the waiter advertised the appetizer sampler totally had us under the impression that it would be smaller portions of a few items at a fixed price per person. However, the servings were all what appeared to be full size, and was rang up as all four of the appetizers individually. Had we known that we were going to pay full price for each of the (full portion) appetizers, I don't think we would have ordered four. Six would have been FAR too many. Overall, it really was a lovely experience and I would come back. I would just suggest they avoid advertising an "appetizer sampler" if it's just full portions of each item all served on one platter. Or at least warn customers you're paying full price for each item vs a fixed price. read more

This place is amazing! I called on Valentine's Day for a large order and the owner was so accommodating. They were able to fill our order within 30 minutes. They even let us borrow a hot box to carry the food in. Not only that but the food was so amazing! The entire staff loved it! The food is great but the service is lacking. We asked for bread 5 times...not kidding. Food was great but the waiter brought a to go box that we asked for, for my daughter who barely ate half of her meal, and before we could box it up, it was picked up and thrown out. We mentioned it and nothing. Just ignored situation...hinted that they would rectify but nothing. Also I asked about the gumbo "to go", waiter told me $15, it's a cup...hi but still I said ok. (this was prior to the "to go" incident) and there was a charge on my bill for $24 for a cup of gumbo! I'm ok with new restaurant wait times on food, bread, water...ok but the fact that no remedy to fix the "to go" issue for my daughters meal, who really wanted to take it home, was extremely disappointing! read more

Excellent food and service. We celebrated our anniversary and Megan (one of the owners) called us the day of our reserved seating to offer personalized flowers, balloons, or whatever we desired. She went the extra mile and the service and food were outstanding. I highly recommend the mussels and shrimp appetizers, as well as the lamb chops and Triola's chicken. This meal was one of the best I've ever eaten. It's byob without a corkage fee and our waiter was very attentive, even though he had several other tables. This place tops all other restaurants I have been too! I am from New Orleans and we are very particular about our food. Especially when gumbo is on the menu. We attended my daughter's engagement party here. When I tel you the service was flawless...IT WAS FLAWLESS! We met the owner and Master Chef and his wife, they were a DIAMOND! Not a huge venue, but the ambiance and service was something you hope for on all levels. The attention to service was something I haven't experienced at any restaurant. The Chef/ Owner and his wife was something you hope you get and THEY DELIVERED! I will never never forget our experience at this restaurant. The chef/ owner made it an experience my family and. Thank you Triola team for such a wonderful Valentine's dinner. The food was wonderful. The Veal Chop and Lamb was so tender we didn't need our steak knives. The sides were on point and our salads were a great start to the meal. We couldn't find a babysitter and so we had our girls in tow and everyone made us feel welcomed and accommodating. Always stressful to bring kids on such a big date night, but the staff treated us like part of the family and we were at ease to enjoy the evening. When we left, we were sent off with a long stem rose and chocolate covered strawberries. That extra touch made us feel extra special. I'll start off by saying the food was very good - 4/5. However, our waiter didn't even greet us before asking what we wanted to eat and drink. The service felt VERY rushed. The tables were also very, very close together and we felt incredibly cramped. This cute little spot has a ton of potential though! I love that it's BYOB. Chef was very nice and came to the table to welcome everyone. Waiter was very nice too, but was all about the upsell. No bread was serves all, which being Italian was odd. Paid $6, for semi soggy garlic bread with no big beefy crust, more like sub roll. Cesar salad was good with hot honey or similar on croutons which popped. Chicken parm was good with hearty sauce, but for $24, a bit on the small side. My dinner was ice cold and by the time it was remade my husband was done, which sucked because being on vacation we really did want to eat together. Balsamic glaze on Chicken Vincent was overpowering and didn't allow the other flavors to come thru. Roasted veggies were good, but could tell they were pre-baked. I think a dessert or a glass of wine should have been comped at least. Instead the Chef presented the cold food in a "to go" like it was a trophy instead of a reminder of our wrecked evening. read more
