My family and I were in Galveston and decided we want to grab lunch before heading back to town. I remembered the name Pier 6 from two different group of friends so thought I should look it up and see where it was on the map. Luckily, it was somewhat on the way back so we decided to give it a try. Rolling through San Leon made us question if we were going to the right place. It didn't feel lively and definitely was not giving 'Coastal Chic', like how Pier 6 has been described. Upon arrival, it was a totally different vibe and 'Coastal Chic' is a fitting description for the place. We were seated right away and they offered a high chair for our little one. We started out with fresh oysters and a flight of margaritas. If you're an oyster fan, it's worth getting the oysters. Super fresh. The flight presentation was so beautiful. My husband and I had fun trying the different margaritas. The blue one was coconut flavored. It reminded me of a piña colada but with tequila. We were surprised that we liked this one. The pink one was watermelon flavored. We could taste the smokiness of the mezcal in it. This was a nice, not sweet drink. The white one was their classic take on margarita. We thought this one was too sweet for our taste buds. The orange one was mango and I think chamoy. This reminded me of the Mexican candy Lucas - sweet and tangy. All drinks were finished. LOL Now to the main dishes. My husband had the Mahi Mahi and said the fish was fresh and had a good amount of seasoning on it. The risotto and mushroom was a solid pairing with it. He cleared the dish. I had the tomato salad and clam chowder. Their tomato salad was so good. It was light and refreshing. I love that there were dill and capers too. Their clam chowder is definitely different compared to others I've had. The soup was more like a light creamy broth. The clam is served whole. Oyster crackers were also in it vs served on the side. Even though it was different, I didn't mind it and killed everything. Service was as expected for the time of day. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would make the trip to the San Leon area again. A few notes: Pier 6 does have a kids menu and there's changing table in the restroom, along with some diapers. Well I realize I completely forgot to write a review for Pier 6 when we came to visit in November 2025. Pier 6 menu changes from time to time. We had ordered: * Thai salad : 1/5 nothing Thai about this salad and it was terrible. * 2 dozen raw oysters: 4/5 decent good for Nov. * seafood gumbo: 1/5 we had the gumbo here before and it was decent but this time it was not the same and tasted like burnt roux which should never be served. * burger with a gravy sauce: 1/5 The brown sauce was pour around the burger and the burger was placed in the center. The burger bun was soggy and the worst burger we ever had. It was the strangest burger because we couldn't pick it up to eat it since it was soggy from the pour of the brown sauce. This burger was $25+ which was uneatable. The beef patty was unseasoned and dry. Fast forward March 2026, after the last dining experience we almost didn't want to come back. Only reason was for the oysters. We were happy to see the items that we really enjoyed was back on the menu! *Only fried shrimp $24.99: 5/5 comes with coleslaw, stellar jalapeño hush puppies which is the best I've had!, and fries. The shrimp is fresh and good size! Nothing beats a texas gulf shrimp! *Tide to fried $28.99- 4/5 comes with fried tx gulf shrimp, fried oysters, and fried red snapper, Cole slaw, hush puppies, and fries. The fired oysters were so good!!!! Like wow and well seasoned! So fresh! The shrimp is perfect! Red snapper super disappointed because it was super fishy. I do not recommend the fried red snapper. Next time definitely get the only shrimp or only oysters combo and pass on the tide to fried which included the fried snapper. *3 dozen oysters - $14.99 per dozen: 5/5 the oysters in March a plump and juicy! So much better than Nov (early season) oysters. The oysters Unfortunately had shells from shucking the oysters so when eating them I bite into shell and thought I almost cracked a tooth. Quality of the oysters great 5/5. The shucking and handle of the oysters 1/5. No guest should eat shuck raw oysters bite on shell. That's a law suit waiting to happen and I hope this establishment does better because we love their freshness of their oysters. *Ocean water $6 happy hour : 5/5 reminds me of sonic ocean water except spiked lol *Watermelon slush $6 happy hour: 1/5 it was so strong and I felt the smokiness was too much. Love the ocean water more because it hides the alcohol and easy to drink. Service was meh. The place was packed at 5pm on a Friday. Not sure why our entrees and drinks came out before our appetizers which I felt was inappropriate. We had to flag down our waiter a few times for items. He did check in with us once after we got our food and took our first bites. Do I recommend Pier 6? Based on this recent visit I am glad I didn't write them off and yes. The food was great minus the oyster cleanliness. Definitely a favorite place for oysters and the best fried shrimp/oyster plate the area and Galveston even. Only negative is the blasting of the music. It's so loud we can not hear our conversation and will induce you a guarantee headache. It does not matter if you sit inside or outside.. it's the same noise level which is concert loud. The videos killer outside and so beautiful but I feel the blaring of music takes away from the charm of this place. If you are into rowdy loud places this is for you. I ordered the seafood fondue, a P6 Lavender Gin and Tonic and a Watermelon Slushie! The fondue was unexpectedly good. The flavor, and plenty of lump crab. And that bread ohhhh my word yum! Great seafood with an even better view, can't ask for much more! We decided to visit for an early Valentine's Day dinner and had a great experience. The view at sunset was stunning and would serve as a great backdrop to celebrate any occasion. We ordered the fried calamari which was topped with a sweet chilli glaze and was one of the best dishes we had. The crab cakes app was a good portion with mostly lump crab and minimal breading and came in a lemon butter sauce. For entrees we had the grilled shrimp over turmeric rice and ratatouille which was seasoned well and the blackened snapper with lump crab which was pan fried perfectly. The portions were large and prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the seafood. Service was also excellent and attentive. Great spot overall - just a little bit of a trek to San Leon from those of us in Friendswood and west of league city. read more

This spot is absolutely date night fun approved. Me and the hubs took the little drive from Houston one evening so we could eat some good seafood. We were able to catch a seat at the bar on a Saturday evening. The place was mostly packed and to our surprise it had a nice upbeat cool vibe. The decor was Xmas themed and boy did they go all out. The music was done in well taste and as at a nice temp to have a conversation. The bar tender was very personable and made some great off label drinks. I wish I remembered his name Now to the food: Crab Cakes- 10/10- nicely pan friend with a good flaky crust and mostly all crab. The lemon care sauce was a plus Salmon Crudo- 10/10. It was fresh and the tasty capers and citrus addition was fantastic. Hot Blooded Oysters- 5/10. They were decent but I'm East Coast Oyster girl so I felt that these lacked a little flavor but they weee cooked well. Seafood Fondue- 10/10- this was very creamy and rich. They definitely didn't skimp on the meat. Martinis-10/10. Only one is listed but all that he made was fantastic. Pier 6 is casual finer dining with great parking. Getting out of the car, the aromas hit you. There were beautiful waterfront views, roomy outdoor seating, and a lively bar area with plenty of TVs for catching the game. I loved the thoughtful touches, swings facing the bay, a pier to take a stroll and take in the view, a more relaxed lounge area with Adirondack chairs, and fire pits that make the whole space feel like a coastal getaway. You can pull up to the marina by boat. The music added a great vibe without being overwhelming. The restaurant is family friendly. I started with a Bloody Mary, which was the only disappointment of the day. It looked pretty (the pearl toothpick for the olives was adorable), but the flavor leaned more "tomato sauce" than spicy brunch cocktail. A little more seasoning would have gone a long way. My husband ordered the cucumber lime oysters with Tajín, and he loved the light, fresh taste. He also tried the gumbo with potato salad, which he enjoyed, though personally I would have preferred mine served with rice. I went with the lobster bisque, and this was the star of my meal. Huge, tender chunks of lobster, a comforting heat in the broth, and a soft cheddar biscuit that was so good I genuinely considered ordering a second one. Highly recommend. To finish, my husband had the burger, which was similar to a smash burger and came on a buttery brioche bun with cheese, pickles, and sauce. He added lettuce, tomato, and jalapeños, and really enjoyed it. We were lucky to have Alejo as our server, he was attentive, friendly, and incredibly fast. We were shocked at how quickly dishes came out, especially during brunch. I loved the atmosphere and the vibe, the food and drinks were solid. Unfortunately, the customer service really dragged the experience down. After our meals were served, I tried multiple times to get the attention of any waiter, and it felt like I was invisible. Several staff members were just standing around, yet no one acknowledged us until I actually got up and walked over to them. The final straw was the way my food issue was handled. The "checks" my waiter went through felt more like an accusation, and the waiter's wording was insulting. I'm chalking it up to someone not realizing how their words came across, but still, that one experience was enough for me and everyone at my table to say we won't be coming back. So, our last few experiences at Pier 6 have been a-ok. Not 5-star great like when they first opened, but just ok. Here's why: 1. I'm such a huge fan of carrots, and wouldn't recommend the "charred carrots" anymore; they aren't really charred. They're glazed and quickly fired up. No char. No caramelization. No tender carrots. 2. Our recent ordered of grilled "Prestige oysters" no longer had the melted butter to sop up with the toasted bread. And the bread, well, it wasn't really toasted. 3. One of our favorite menu items-aside from their gulf oysters-is the fish dip. It was lacking a good amount of fish that we are used to them serving. It was mostly all dip. I *rarely* send anything back; and in this case, we had to (and the server kindly removed it from our bill). Pier 6 does have some of the best Gulf Oysters around; and we still enjoy going for the bay views, oysters, and drinks. read more

So to start if off i made a reservation for outside a day early and when we got there the waitress says they don't have table out side but we can sit at the bar. As walking to the bar there were a lot of tables open. Disappointed!. I still enjoyed my time but was still upset, one the oysters that we ordered were not great, weird super airy, the bite was a bit deflated idk how to explain it but they weren't great and the ice platter was already half melted by the time it got to us. When you know a place has gone downhill - you know it has to do with service!!! And sadly, this time around the food was sub par as well! I can't believe it!!! I am no regular patron, but when I can. I always try to bring my friends and spread the word about how great Pier 6 is - especially their hot blooded oysters, but that stops today! I took my besties for a girls day trip here the other day, and all we were met with was rude service and sub par food. I called the restaurant the day before to confirm whether or not they allowed dogs - and while they DO allow dogs, it's only on their patio. So I arrived around maybe fifteen past 5pm and asked if we could sit outside. The hostess at the stand was less than helpful, so another hostess came by and when I spoke to her she was very rude. There was no urgency in her willingness to help us find an available table on the patio and when she did, I asked her if she could show me the "couch" seating and she gave us an attitude. We walk out and I ask her if we can sit there and have some drinks and then move to an actual table, and she proceeded to give me some lame story about how if we were to move to another section she wouldn't know if that would affect the servers section or tab, etc....i happened to see an MOD and stopped him and explained to him what the hostess told me and of course that wasn't the case - so then it appears the hostess said something to the rest of the staff and now everyone was being unfriendly and rude towards us. I so looked forward to the hot blooded oysters too but they were not as fresh and hot and melty as I remember them to be...I was not and fan of their watermelon margaritas either as they had made them with reposado instead of a clear tequila... all in all, for driving 1.5 hours through houston traffic to be met with terrible customer service and sub par food was not what I had envisioned. Stopped by Pier 6 for Memorial Day. We had the raw oysters, the prestige oysters, the crudo and the gumbo. The raw oysters were very good. Some reviews I read stated the oysters were not very plump, and I found that it quite the opposite. These were probably the most plump oysters I have had all season (and I have oysters just about everywhere). The prestige oysters were good, but I prefer them with a little more butter/lemon juice. The crudo was delicious. The gumbo was okay. Not the best or the worst we have ever had. Although we had a reservation, we arrived early and opted to sit at the bar. The restaurant was packed and very busy. Pier 6 had a dedicated oyster shucker which meant that we did not have to wait forever for oysters. I was quite surprised that when we put our order in, in about 2 minutes, our order appeared. We remembered to tip him because we appreciated the quick response time! It was a fun vibe. For Memorial Day they had a balloon display, a balloon artist for the kids, a face painter, stilt walker, bounce house and as we were leaving around 4 p.m. live music. While I was there with no children, there were plenty there with children and all seemed to be having a great time. I am not local to the area - it is about a 45/50 min drive for me. But Pier 6 is a place I will likely go to again on a long weekend when I have some time and a craving for some oysters. read more

Visited Pier 6 at the recommendation of some friends while staying near Kemah. Highly recommend getting reservations on the weekend, this place gets packed. The crispy red snapper may go into my top 3 best fried fish dishes I've had to date; however, all other courses were so-so. While certainly a solid restaurant and choice, I don't think Pier 6 lives up to the wait and hype it has received. Service was... okay due to how busy they were. Would I Go Out of My Way to Try? The services was great. Kyle took a good care of us. Even when there was a small incident with our food he took care of it promptly. The food was better than our expectations, especially the steak. The scallops were cooked nicely, still juicy and tender. The sauce was flavorful. The blackened red snapper was also great. But what really stands out was crab cake. I like it not overdosed with cornbread/panko or whatever carb it was, but nicely loaded with a lot of crab meat. And the sauce paired well with the crab cake. Pier 6 had advertised on instagram that Thursday is their happy hour for $1 chargrilled oysters and $.50 raw oysters. They decided to end happy hour 1.5 hours early and without any notice and told us they were no longer doing $1 chargrilled oysters for that day. Overall very annoyed with the experience. Food was great, but why blast advertisements and posts regarding your specials all over instagram and have it listed on your website but not follow it? Raw oysters were delicious as always. They tasted very fresh and were abundant in size. The prestige oysters were delicious as well, perfectly cooked and well balanced with a cheesy, salty, and buttery flavor. We made reservations for a Sunday lunch at 11:30am. It was not busy when we arrived but so packed when we left. The food was so fresh and the portions were very generous, we were seated in the middle section which allowed us a bay view. We could have had the interior dining area or the outdoor seating. Being in the middle was definitely the better choice. The staff was on top of it. Our water was never empty and the food came out promptly all at once. My daughter has a peanut and tree nut allergy so they double checked all the items we ordered. It was such a delicious experience for my mom's birthday. This was our first visit and we are pleased to have found our new water view restaurant! We planned on having drinks and appetizers on this visit but the menu has plenty to offer with entrees. Our server was very friendly and professional. The restaurant became very busy after we arrived and with the view of the bay and food quality, it's easy to see why. I ordered a Malibu with pineapple juice. The drink was beautifully presented adorned with an orchid. My husband had a martini. We ordered the seafood fondue as our appetizer. It tasted amazing although it's accompanied by French bread and I'd honestly preferred something more like crostini as the bread was a bit too dense for my taste. I recently visited the Kemah area for the first time in a long while and decided to stop by this place. I got the prestige oysters, tide to fried seafood platter and tuna tostada. Their oysters and tuna tostada were just mediocre. Nothing stood out. Their seafood platter was actually the worst. Their hushpuppies were the driest out of all hushpuppies I have ever had, and other seafood fries were all under seasoned. To be honest, the only item I liked from the dish was french fries. I wasn't happy with the service either. My server never stopped by and checked on me even once and flies were flying all over my table. After I finished my meal, I noticed other tables had some sort of a fan so flies can't be around them but my table did not have one. This place has everything you need for a fun weekend! Let me start with parking, it's has plenty!! No valet, no parking fees, just enough parking next to the restaurant, love it! The restaurant is huge, with a big indoor seating area and one indoor beautiful bar. Then you have the covered deck with lounge areas, big and small tables, swings all by the water and of course its own bar! But this is not over, they have a "second" deck which is uncovered with beautiful seating and another bar! This sounds like "I love it here!" To me. They have plenty of attentive staff and their recommendations for food are on point. The food menu is perfect because it's not small but neither is so big that you don't know what to order, it has a something for everyone taste, from soups and salads to entrees, sandwiches, light small plates, desserts and of course excellent drinks. I ordered the seafood fondue OMG this is a must! My main dish was the Thai Salad with shrimp (comes with boiled shrimp but I requested grilled shrimp and they gladly did it ).
