What an amazing spot for an outing, can't believe I never knew about this place all this while! What a discovery! A beautiful waterfront restaurant with such a relaxing vibe. We absolutely loved the outdoor dining area, and the rocking booths were such a unique touch, it genuinely gave that fun boat-like feeling! Coming to the food, every dish we tried was delicious. The artichoke dip with pita was excellent (so glad it came with pita instead of tortilla chips!), and the texture of the dip was just perfect. The Diablo oysters were superb, and the grilled snapper with jumbo shrimp was such a hearty, satisfying dish. The only thing that felt a bit underwhelming was my virgin daiquiri, especially with the whipped cream topping, which didn't quite work for me. But, everything else was just amazing! We also took a lovely walk by the bay afterward, and their tiki bar for private events looked absolutely gorgeous. What a hidden gem!! read more

Thank you Top Water for having consistently fantastic food and great service. A friend and I went to sit in the bar area to have a couple of cocktails,spinach artichoke dip, some delish Ruby Reds, and some Oysters Rockefeller.....ALL were delicious! (Love that you can still have the dip with the chips!) It was a nice change from the past two, less than stellar meals, at those last restaurants we visited. Had a great evening w over 50 guests at our 50th Anniversary party upstairs at this lovely restaurant. The food, service and am ambience were excellent! They over performed for us. I really like this place. It was a great change of pace from the city. It almost felt like I was out of town somewhere and I guess technically I was, but not really. All the food was super tasty. All the fish and shrimp very fresh. I really enjoy the mixed veggies. They have an outdoor patio area that's right on the water. I have no complaints on anything we tried, even the margarita was good. Our waitress was super friendly and very accommodating. Burger is a win! The meat was so juicy and cooked to perfection. Gumbo surprisingly had a really good flavor. They did have quite a few onions and green peppers. It didn't mess up the flavor, but it felt like I was eating more of that than the meat. My friend and I visited right at sunset, and we had a beautiful view! The dining room is fun with a giant fishing lure and a boat hanging from the ceiling. Outdoors, the big party pavilion looked fun, too. I tried the lobster bisque, and it was super chunky with lots of lobster! My friend had the seafood gumbo, and she said it was delicious. For dinner, our very nice waiter recommended the redfish deluxe topped with the crab and shrimp. I loved the tequila sauce! My friend had the grilled shrimp. We both enjoyed the veggies. We were so full that we couldn't even eat dessert. It was a really enjoyable dinner. read more

We drove 45 miles to have lunch here. It was a beautiful cool and sunny day in Houston and this was the perfect spot. Nestled right on the water with five docks for boat guests and also features a boat ramp, this is a large restaurant with outdoor dining and two event spaces. Once you get onto the property you would gauge where to park based upon how other vehicles are positioned, it's a dirt gravel and sand lot with no lines. There is ample parking and the wind that greets you is very refreshing. We were kindly greeted upon entry and immediately sat. As you can imagine, a oceanfront restaurant will feature window tables that immerse you with the outside environment and immediately beyond that glass are outdoor tables set just the right distance away so as not to interfere with the guests inside by the window. Our server Lauren greeted us and inquired if we've dined with them before, that was a great question, I think all servers should ask that question. Lauren guided who needed guidance and informed us all of specials and answered our questions regarding modifications and made a few suggestions. Perfect. We immediately got the Oysters Diablo and a round of beers. The Oysters Diablo was presented on a heavy metal serving dish with indentations for each oyster to fit into, served with American Baguette (mediocre) roast rounds and a lemon wedge. This dish, sans the bread, was so delicious, will order next time I visit for sure. We then followed up with some more beer and the entrees, my partners ordered from the lunch menu and I opted for the regular menu, for we did drive quite a while to get here and I figured we could share from one another's plates. They opted for some fried seafood and I got the pecan crusted Snapper with the Redfish setup (lump crab and WGC shrimp and scallops in a butter sauce), OH WOW! This meal was executed to perfection, balance in all flavor notes and the fish had a moist, firm and flaky texture, I mean just WOW! I was very impressed, so impressed I can take my wife here now . Lauren was fantastic and attentive, funny and professional, she made the experience that much better. They have a gift shop with merch as you enter and this is where the restrooms are located, at the front of the restaurant. read more

The reason we make the drive from Bellaire Texas on nice days is the Consistently fresh seafood, prepared just right, good service and a fantastic waterfront view and atmosphere. This lesser known out of the way San Leon location conveniently equates to smaller crowds (more local) and less holiday hysteria. Calm, good, enjoyable and value. A little further than Kehma, but well worth it in my book! read more

The atmosphere alone is worth it! There are super neat swinging benches/tables outside overlooking the water. I didn't get a pic bc they were occupied but man they were cool!!! We sat inside in a corner with glass windows on all sides. It was perfect - my kids watched the birds, boats, fisherman cleaning their catches, etc. plus all of the fun decor inside. The food was good. I didn't love my redfish, but the shrimp & scallops were great! We had a ton of apps that I forgot to take pics of too - torpedos, calamari, mozzarella sticks - all delicious!! I loved that they came w ranch & marinaras. Also not pictured was the gigantic and delicious chicken fried steak! Our table order CF steak & chicken - both were amazing & I wish I got a pic before they were devoured. We also had 3 desserts: blueberry bread pudding (hands down, the best dessert of the 3), key lime pie (I would not recommend - it wasn't the right consistency/ too thin/runny), and chocolate mousse cake (a fan favorite for the kids). Full transparency, our waitress was pretty grumpy and didn't seem like she was having a good shift. What an absolute gem. I sat outside right by the water -- beautiful view, perfect weather, and that calm breeze that just makes you forget about real life for a bit. The server was fantastic -- super helpful and patient while I tried to make up my mind. Ended up going with the Redfish, and it was perfect. Flaky, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Had lunch today at Topwater with relatives from Boston. The food and service were great as always. Eating outside on the gliders next to the water a PLUS. So relaxing sitting, eating, and visiting - watching the gulls and pelicans soar and play. A great day getaway. read more

Our party of four being in the area decided to drop in for a quick drink. Once we received our drinks which did not taste like the drinks we ordered, I asked the bartender if she had the wrong order. The bartender was very rude and did not even try to help us in any way. When we asked for our check, the waitress took forever to check us out and come to find out she lost our credit card. Our credit card was given to another customer come to find out, thankfully it did not get in the wrong hands. The service was absolutely terrible and very unprofessional! Date night and I have to say for a Friday service was on point. Our server was attentive for being as busy as he was. Drinks were decent, not as strong as I would have liked it. I was kind of disappointed with the Royal Red shrimp because it was overcooked and gritty. The oysters were in point so that made up for the royal red shrimp. The fried fish and shrimp were good, the coleslaw I was crazy about but the fries made up for that. All in all it was good. It was kind of warm but not terrible. read more

We haven't been here in over 10 years since we moved away from the area. Came back for a bday dinner and found it to be just as good as when we left! I usually get coconut shrimp cuz i wont make that at home, but they have so many good fish options its hard to chose just one. I went with the Chili Pepper Red Fish and was not disappointed!!! Veggies were cooked great on the side. The bobbers (crab cake balls) were good and enough for 2-3 people to share. Calamari was enough for 3-4people, but my son ate that as his meal and loved it. My husband got the mahi fish tacos and said they are the best! Large chunks of mahi (no skimping here) Water front property. Plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. We were supposed to get separate checks but only one was given. Waitress was rude about separating the checks. Between separating and then collecting payment also took an hour. I have been visiting Topwater Grill for years. I keep coming back because typically the food is delicious and the service is excellent. I wish I could say that about yesterday - Sept 25th. Our server Jaquelyn was attentive at first but never returned once the food was placed on the table. We ended up getting help later from the manager Charlie whom was quite nice. To begin, the stuffed crab does not have actual crab in it - its imitation crab which everyone knows is fish. Charlie acknowledged this fact and actually said "I agree 100%" - we appreciated his candor. That also explains why it costs less than $20 for 2 stuffed crab, 4 fried shrimp, 3 hushpuppies and fries. As a means to make amends, Charlie had an order of blue crab crabcakes for my mom prepared. We got them to go and she opted to save them for lunch the next day (today)! Bear in mind these crabcakes are usually $30 for 2 which Charlie comped. We waited over 30 minutes for them to be made because Charlie said the crabcakes which were prepped for the day were already gone. These were going to be freshly made crabcakes. My friends, these crabcakes were awful. They tasted like pre-seasoned, store-bought breadcrumbs with no binding agent. Hardly any crab either. I took a fork and broke these two crab cakes down so you can see what they are comprised of- yeah, a whole lot of nothing! They should have made them from the stuffing of the stuffed crabs but actually use crab meat. If you take all of the shredded bits (white specs) of crab from these two crabcakes, I swear to Heaven there would not be even a full tablespoon of crab meat - remember this was 2 crabcakes. Incredibly disappointed with TG this time. My Marisco Chicken was delicious but stay away from anything crab. You better clarify if the dish you are ordering is imitation or real. Even if its real, the quantity is not worth the price. More like legalized theft. The pina coladas were delicious though hardly any alcohol. The alcohol content was so low it was like a mocktail - not worth the $8. read more
