Very disappointed! It was recommended to us as a good place eat . The hype was better than the food, The place is no frills and devoid of service. Order through a line with menu pasted above the order window Given a number for your order The kitchen window shoves your food out for pickup Serve yourself drink fountain The food was subpar You would think that a seafood restaurant on Galveston Island would serve large gulf shrimp Not here ! The tiny shrimp were actually closer to bait. Truly a lack luster meal! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Here's a tip if you like to dine in comfort. The main dining room is competing with kitchen heat[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The open air atrium is breezy but hot[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The adjacent room with the men's restroom is Very cold and enjoyable Regardless of the reviews you read , Trust me this is a place to skip Go to Katie's on the pier You'll be better served

Cute little counter service place with unexpectedly good food! We went for restaurant week special and got gumbo with a shrimp po'boy. Both were really good! Gumbo has just the right amount of flavor without being too spicy. Shrimp was fresh and fried to perfection. Also came with seasoned fries and a drink - lots of food! Took home leftovers and actually ate them - which is a sign we really enjoyed it!

Stopped here while visiting Galveston for some fried shrimp and thought it was delicious! The shrimp was fresh and the breading was crispy. The portion was HUGE! Definitely enough to split with someone. The staff was kind and gave a great recommendation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked the outside picnic tables, but there's plenty of indoor seating as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely recommend for a great poboy!

We have eaten here three times and can't wait to come back! The shrimp is delicious! I've had it deep fried and boiled and I honestly can't pick a favorite one. The service is great - fast and easy, just walk up and order, get a buzzer and your drink, find a place to sit and bam! Your food is ready! [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can sit inside or outside on picnic tables or regular tables, take your pick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a little misleading because as you are driving there, you're thinking you're in a residential neighborhood but it's on a corner with lots of parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Besides all that, you're going to be super excited at the prices - hmmm , maybe that's just one more reason why I keep coming back? Well, I guarantee once you've been there, you'll go back too!

First of all I'm bias. I remember coming here as a kid, tween, early teen, punk high schooler, 21 year old dumb butt and now back with my family. Could be nostalgia but I doubt it. What we ate: Fried shrimp po'boy side of hush puppies 2 pints of gumbo 1 bowl of gumbo A create a platter with boiled shrimp coconut shrimp potato's and hush puppies. Fried Shrimp po boys - it's good. A long time favorite and barely out of first place for my all time favorite. Shrimp perfectly fried. Bun just right. Lettuce and sauce hard to beat. I hate tomatoes but they are probably pretty good. I like mine with a few cracks of black pepper and some malt vinegar soaked into the bun. Gumbo - couple two tre splashes of hot sauce and it is just as good as any of them. We came in a day when it was in the 40's and it sure hit the spot against the cold. Highly recommend crumbling up some hush puppies in it. We got a lot and probably could have made it work with just 1 pint. The platter - (keep in mind my wife is a yankee from Oklahoma) coconut mid- did not like the sauce "too sweet". Boiled shrimps - good would eat another helping right now. Boiled potatoes "these are the best I have ever had" "I could eat these till I keeled over" she ate all of her plate and after sharing and mixing we maybe had 1/2 a bowl of gumbo left. The service is friendly and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is some kinda something. Diner? Dive? Are we in Maine? It's cool and homey and feels like a local secret. Not on the beach but beach feeling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] With three locations this one on avenue o feels like where the locals still go? Idk it still makes me happy like it has all these years!

My son loves the fries. He ate all of his chicken tenders which is a rare plus. I had the fried shrimp. I ordered onion rings and fries and there must've been thirty onion rings. Extremely generous! Josh puppies were good, too. I typically don't like hush puppies with jalapeño but these weren't too spicy. My husband got the platter with half fried shrimp and half coconut shrimp. He absolutely loved the coconut shrimp! I can't place the flavor in their cocktail sauce but it is NOT horseradish and it's very unique. We would absolutely come back. They had outdoor seating which my five year-old loved!

I haven't been here in ten years but when I was in high school (a block over) and we had a one hour open campus lunch, I always came and got a fried shrimp po boy. I was in 9th grade at the time and couldn't drive anywhere and this was the closest place to walk to besides the cafeteria. We got all the fried things today. Fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, crab balls, and fried oysters. All stuff was freshly fried and hot when we received it. Service was fast and the line moved along really quickly. Good movement from tables so you were never just waiting. Parking on the streets and in front was easy. I also learned there's a parking lot they have now which was a surprised to me. Indoor and outdoor seating are both available.

Are dogs allowed in your outdoor area dining?

Yes we ate there in April and had our dog with us and we ate on the patio!!

What is the peak time for dining at the Spot?

The crowd size varies since it is a local hangout. You just never know when the line will be short and when it will be out the door. The staff does do a great job getting folks seated and fed. The food is great and well worth the wait.

Hi where do you get your shrimp from?

Out of the Gulf of Mexico and they are not farmed shrimp at any of their locations. Shrimp N Stuff like Katie's and Mario's on the Seawall get their shrimp from a seafood market along the Gulf Coast. I don't think Gaido's can say that!

    Is beer/wine served?

Too bad you no serve margarita. Even vino margaritas would be better than none. Remember when Salsa served them before they moved to the Pancho's building? They were better than water over bricks.

When we arrived, there was about a 30-minute wait for a table in the main dining room, so we just grabbed the first available table in the bar area. Th server immediately noticed our presence, and came over, introduced herself and took our drink order. We shared the Crab Stuffed Shrimp for $34.00 which included 4 jumbo shrimps stuffed with crabmeat Rockefeller stuffing of spinach and baked in a white wine mushroom butter sauce served with garlic mashed potatoes. We also shared the Fried Texas Gulf Shrimp Dinner for $17.00 which included 8 jumbo shrimps, and served with fries, cole slaw, and jalapeno hush puppies. Both dishes were very good and enough for sharing. Everything was fresh, cooked to order, had good seasoning and flavor, and tasted very good. I wish the cole slaw portion was larger than a small 20 oz souffle cup and there were more than two hush puppies. Considering the number of guests in the crowed restaurant, the service was fast and friendly. After ordering, our food was served hot and fresh within 20 minutes of ordering. After reading multiple reviews and comparing it to other local seafood restaurants in Galveston, we knew we had to go. We were seated with my Service dog, no problem. Mike immediately came and delivered water. It was hot outside. The decor is inviting and the bar area looked well stocked. We began with cocktails xtra Dirty Martini with hand stuffed blue cheese olives and for my husband a Maker's Mark bourbon . This gave us time to look over this incredible menu! Seafood is what we came for so we ordered 2 sharable items: soy, ginger octopus on crispy wonton and roasted beat walnut and fried goat cheese salad. We could have stopped there completely wowed. Both if us love Texas Redfish and it's so hard to get fresh seafood where we live so that caught our eyes. Husband ordered blackened and redfish over mushroom risotto and French style green beans. I could not resist a similar item blackened redfish over mushroom risotto and asparagus. We both were over the moon with the meaty blackened redfish FLAVORS! Risotto was perfectly cooked al dente and both veg choices were the perfect accompaniment! Honestly it had been a ling time since we had such a beautiful meal. Service was outstanding and he even picked up on a comment by my husband encouraging me to order whatever I wanted given it was a birthday dinner. So I was completely delighted when Mike showed up with the final surprise a Creamy NY style cheesecake. So I guess what I'm trying to say is this place was outstanding. You could not go wrong with a decision to have a great experience and upscale seafood meal at BLVD SEAFOOD.

That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. Our lunch was absolutely delicious. Here's the rundown: 1 appetizer of ahi tuna won-ton, 2 raw oyster samplers, 2 Galveston Island Brewing blondes, 1 dirty gin martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, and one to-go bottle of Cat Five hot sauce. I am not a huge fan of tuna, but this ahi/poke style of tuna with actual umami flavor elevates a mild sushi gateway fish to something yummy. The oysters were a delight. Shucks has a color coded system in place to help you identify which oysters are which, but my tired old eyes can't seem to make their system work. I did have two favorite kinds but could not tell you what they were. No matter, they were all superior - and small like east coast/ Canadian bivalves are. Dan's beer was tasty and swillable and my martini was appropriately dirty. We got the hot sauce because you can never have enough condiments and cats were referenced in its name. Our server was friendly and efficient. Interesting to me, I was mildly making fun of their music selection and soon after it changed. Coincidence? Dunno, but I appreciated the change to Motown! Bottom line. So, so enjoyable and something we don't do too often these days. It was an expensive meal, but worth the splurge.

Fish Company Taco proved to be like finding water in the desert. A lot of Galveston eateries are very similar, in that there's an ample amount of fried seafood on the menu, which is not exactly what you're looking for when you're in the bloated, but wanting to eat *something* state that we were in. My thought was: fish tacos are relatively light and we can walk there from our hotel - how do you beat that? What I didn't realize is that this place probably belongs more in the Heights than Galveston. And I mean that in a good way. The menu is very hipster-coded. And the food matches with hipster quality. It's hard to say what my favorite item even was. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the fish dip - it was just okay. Everything else ranged from good to great. We tried... The burger: FYI, it's more like a double stacked slider than a burger, but delicious. 3 Tacos: Dirty South, Empire and Korean Flavors. I really liked the empire and the korean flavors, but thought the dirty south had a little too much going on with the pimento cheese and chips. Sticky Shrimp: I don't even know how to describe this, but it was delicious. I thought it as more like bang bang shrimp, but it was more fried that I expected. But not hardcore fried - they almost had the airy texture of fried pork skins, but were much tastier. Chili marinated Cucumbers and corn ribs: Simple, refreshing and addicting. But I liked the cucumbers a bit more. They also had some fresh juices and we enjoyed both the mango and the coconut lime concoctions. An easy 5-stars for me and a place I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.

Late night munchies hits "The Spot." This restaurant has a dining area with a view of the gulf…read more It's counter service, you order at the counter and they your bring food. It works well and the servers are attentive and numerous. We ordered the Diablo Grilled Shrimp, Onion Rings and a Rum Punch. My Diablo Grilled Shrimp were spicy but not overly hot. They were cooked perfectly with that crisp snap. Grilled vegetables were well seasoned and crisp, not grilled to death. The service is well thought out and they were hustling and hosting well. The $25 1/2gallon margarita nearly knocked me out -excellente The red snapper veggies and GreenChile Rice was delicious if you like a little spice flavor. The SeaFood platter seemed smaller, but still packed quality fried seafood and nobody left unsatisfied or hungry. Two big catfish fillets, beer batter cod, best Coconut Shrimp I've ever eaten, bacon wrapped shrimp with waffle fries and subbed Coconut rice. The hush puppies were great! Great menu for all ages and can't go wrong ordering Anything here! Only reason i cannot give full 5stars is because there is no crab or lobster options so 4.5out of 5 ^_^
