This was a walking distance from our hotel and now whenever I go back to Galveston, I will be eating here. They have an Asian and Cajun menu combined all the food looks amazing. I had loaded fries that were incredible. The Vietnamese coffee was so good we also had the pho and spring rolls and everything was wonderful. It's small but very clean and efficient. The staff are very nice. They cook everything fresh to order but it still comes out very quick. It's very well Priced good portions. Just a great place. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place. It seemed like it was very casual and easy in and out. I was disappointed. The service is terrible. The staff is a bunch of bumbling, mumblers. They seem surprised that their job is to serve food. I arrived at 12:02. I was one of two tables in the place when I ordered. I got my food at at 12:25 but not before others that has arrived after me received their Pho. They seem to be able to serve the pho quickly. But I also watched meals being partially delivered to other tables and then they waited for sandwiches etc. The food is way to average to put up with the careless service. The portions are small and nothing was standout! My meal didn't arrive so I kept checking and finally it showed up at the counter as to go food and not the sit in meal I wanted. I had to again ask for silverware and ice and a cup and napkins. I had a seafood platter with fried rice. You can do much better on the island. Pass this one by and find another place to eat. My family came for dinner here in a Friday. This eatery is a no frills, order at the counter place. My Son absolutely demolished his pho and said it was great. Daughter ordered a small chicken fried rice and I was so astonished at the quantity, I could only ask in wonderment what the big size looked like. Everything is bigger in Texas, as they say! My vermicelli bowl with pork was delicious and I was impressed at the massive size, definitely worth sharing. My husband's gumbo bowl was delicious and huge, and he could only finish half his grilled pork banh mi which was very filling. We really loved our fish. It was very yummy and smooth. I love the texture and the taste (6 of 10). The fries definitely needed some additional seasoning, but it was fresh. Located in a small strip center, I was a little wary because it wasn't super clean. Dirty glass, floor and tables did not overrule the wonderful Smells coming from the kitchen. We ordered a variety of dishes including fried fish&shrimp, snow crab clusters, Bahn Mi sandwich, and crab cakes. Everything was good food wise but the plastic cutlery was cheap, the drinks came in cans, and the service was bring a plate when it's done. We ended up waiting for 45 minutes for the three orders of snow crab clusters meaning everyone was done eating 15 minutes BEFORE they got their order. Management did come three times to tell us it will only be a minute, 10 minutes apart. While the food was good, we will not be back. read more

At the tail end of crawfish season, we tried Viet-Cajun for the first time. Wow! What they lacked in size (it is the end of the season so I'm taking that into account), they more than made up for in flavor. Enjoying perfectly spiced crawfish with the right amount of heat, I was delighted to have my two pounds. I had one potato and a nibble round of corn. Stopped by for lunch because my parents have fond memories of food from here when we ordered it to eat at our condo during our visit to Galveston several summers ago. On this in-person visit, the food was just ok, nothing special. We ordered fried catfish and shrimp, with fries and fried rice. The batter was light but had no flavor so I had to use lots of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. I saw several diners eat the Vietnamese Rice plates and maybe that's what I should have ordered. The restaurant is not as clean as I'd like. The floor is sticky causing your shoes to make noise when you walk. Be aware that there's only one restroom. read more

I was beyond amazed at this little restaurant. My partner and I came in after stopping at the gas station in the same parking lot. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy. The menu was expansive and truly had something for everyone. We ordered a pho to share and a pork banh mi. The food truly exceeded our expectations. I was particularly pleased with the banh mi. It was a very generous serving and perfectly seasoned. We were even fortunate enough to enjoy our food while the restaurant played Cars 2 on the tv in the dining room. Small, hole in the wall restaurant right across from the beach. Decent Vietnamese food that we were happy to find in the area! It's not like a usual spot where they give u a whole plate of bean sprouts and mint but they give you a pouch on the side. The brisket was tender and fatty but the steak was a little tough. We really wanted to try some seafood while we were in Galveston , TX but we really like Viet Seafood Boil as compared with American seafood restaurants. Viet Cajun was the only one we could find & when we got there...the seafood boil had only 2 options! The rest of the menu had Vietnamese Pho & noodle dishes, Bahn Mi, Rice dishes, Vermicelli bowls as well as burgers & Po Boys. You order at the counter before you sit down, we got the girls the snow crab cluster boil and added corn, potatoes, & sausage to it...one order comes with 2 clusters of crab. Somehow, the cashier ordered us 2 of these...one is plenty to share for 2 teenage girls. We never caught the mistake, even when we reviewed the bill...so be careful! We also ordered the Cajun boiled shrimp(15 pieces with hardboiled egg, corn, potato's, broccoli & sausage. The girls wanted a loaded fries & we also got a 2 pc fried catfish with 6 fried oyster basket...you get a choice of fries or fried rice, we picked fried rice, good choice! The loaded fries was really interesting & good! It had a fried egg on it, spicy crushed Cheetos as well as meat, cheese, onions, cilantro, aioli AND ranch...SUPER LOADED! The taste of the boil was ok...we just have a really excellent Seafood Boul place we go to at home in Seattle so we have high standards. Mild is a bit spicy so be careful. The broccoli I added to our shrimp boil was so salty, I dint recommend that unless you order it in the side and just dip it yourself in the boil sauce. The catfish & oysters were really tasty & we liked the fried rice side it came with. It self seat & service and you can even bring your own drinks, they have a liquor store & a convenience store right next door so that was kind of cool...or you can order drinks from them. The tables are NOT covered in butcher paper like most seafood boil restaurants but that's because they have such an extensive menu. It's been a while since the last review so I decided to update it and add a few new photos. Pretty much everything is still relevant in the previous reviews and they finally fixed their sign. Apart from the food, one thing I really like about this place is that it's BYOB. You can stop at the convenience store next-door, get your favorite beverage and then bring it here and place your order. We decided to pick up a six pack of Galveston Island beer from the brewery just four blocks away. Otherwise you're gonna have to purchase a bottle of water or their other drinks if you dine in. If you decide on the crab or shrimp boil, it'll take at least 10 to 20 minutes until it arrives to your table. If you're getting their boil, I suggest dining in because it's a very messy experience and not something you may wish to bring back to your hotel room if you're visiting. Definitely one of my favorite dining spots on the island that keeps me coming back. read more
