One of my favorite places to visit on the island. I try to come here at least once per visit. The shawarma was one of the few items I have not tried on the menu. Can't believe I waited so long. This meal was all of that!! The meat is super tender and full of flavor. The pita was light fluffy and packed full of all of the goodness of the beef. As usual I ordered an old fashioned which is always done right by the bar. Portions are great as you either need to bring your appetite or be ready for a to-go box. Might be my new favorite spot for dinner on the island. An impressive variety of seafood and Cajun-style boils are the stars of the menu but they really have something for everyone. We loved the Tzatziki appetizer with pita bread and olives - delicious! We then devoured the whole blacked redfish -expertly prepared and so flavorful! The prices were reasonable for seafood and the drink prices were great! Lots of fun drinks to choose from on the bar menu. I loved the coconut margarita. This was a review of my visit earlier this month on July 4th weekend. I was with my family to celebrate the weekend and day off from work. We were around the area and tried to think of where to eat. After a couple of minutes of searching, I decided to pick Cajun Greek. Cajun Greek is located on a fairly busy area and parking is available in the front but also in the back. Walking in the restaurant is very nice. It gave me a nice local vibe and a sense of a homey feel to it. The menu is a nice mix of items: seafood and Mediterranean dishes. I went against my personal rule of sticking to the seafood at seafood restaurants and picked the beef shawarma. The shawarma is on this nice pita, nicely loaded up with beef, the fries are seasoned and crispy, and the sauce on the side is this nice mustard based flavor that went well with everything plus the side banana peppers/olives. Overall I enjoyed the choice of picking Cajun Greek. The food is good, service was nice plus our server was very attentive checking in on us often and it was solid. There are a nice amount of options on the menu to choose from and the prices are very fair. Not anything to complain about but I know others may not like the banana peppers or olives but I think it went well with the shawarma. The shawarma will also have the sauce included inside the pita. Great place no frills, casual, great food! This is our old stomping ground had not been in a while! Service is always outstanding here we sit at the bar, we got there at 3:00pm just in time for the winter happy hour. 3-6pm. Great, casual place that is on every Best of Gavelston list and deservedly so. Like others, I compared this with Katie's, which I had a few days ago and I liked Cajun Greek much, much more. The peel and eat shrimp was delicious. Surprisingly, the ribeye steak, I thought was a great value! Perfectly cooked. The gulf shrimps and hush puppies were excellent as well. Always a fun place to visit. The fairly new menu is great. We like to sit at the bar. Today one of the customers started playing the accordion. Unbelievable, she was very good. Perfect during Mardi Gras. The crawfish are cooked perfectly and premium large, new find today was the ahi tuna with sesame searing and a great vinaigrette served with wasabi cream and pickled ginger on the $15 menu. The wife and I took a spontaneous trip to beach town on our anniversary, which included me taking her to Cajun Greek for some blue crab. We were quickly greeted and seated, and began with our drink orders. I had a beer because I had to drive back to Houston, and the wife went with a Hurricane. For food, she had the fried blue crabs, which was a new experience. She wanted boiled because...duh...but all they had was fried and the waitress said people who love boiled end up liking the fried. I had a dozen raw oysters and a shrimp poboy w/fries. Yea some combination! Well, the wife buzzed about that Hurricane (in every way you can take that)! Sure wish we could bring this restaurant home with us. Vacationing on Galveston Island for a week, we first tried a different seafood restaurant. Then found Cajun Greek and had dinner there twice -- first at a table, then at the fun spacious, circular bar which locals seemed to gravitate. The seafood was delicious and plentiful with interesting Cajun and Greek influences. The whole red snapper was a favorite. Appetizers at the bar -- tsaziki and feta, lightly breaded shrimp along with catfish and the best hush puppies I've ever had were both excellent. Locals raved about the blue crab cakes. And a number of folks were eating crawfish. Wish we had more opportunities to try more items on the menu. read more

My family of five ended up here after a day of fun shopping at The Strand. We thought we were going to eat at Gaido's, but they only do reservations and we hadn't realized that. So we needed another choice. Cajun Greek came up and we gave it a try on Christmas Eve. It was a great choice. We sat down quickly in the evening and started with festive drinks, oysters on the half shell and hot bisque. All amazing choices. We had the server pick us out a large plate of seafood for five. Everything was well presented, prepared correctly and delicious. The kitchen was definitely serving Christmas Eve Love. Both the food and service were wonderful. We ordered over the phone which took about 6 tries before answered then took a long time to make the order even though we only had 2 items. Once at pick up window, we were pretty much ignored for another 10 minutes. When we got our order it was not correct. So disappointed cause we've been going here for about 15 years. The service was very good. I think Yelp needs to change the pricing to $$$ from $$. The prices on the fresh catch was only the price for the catch. You have to add $5.99 for sides. A lot of the fresh catch was around $27-$33. We weren't all that hungry so we split a po-boy. We did the half and half, choosing fish and oysters both being fried. The bread was excellent and the veggies were fresh. The oysters had so much breading that I really couldn't taste the oysters. The catfish was two thin fillets which were a perfect amount. The sandwich was large. Splitting the sandwich was plenty of food for two people. The fries were very good. They were hot and well seasoned. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. Cajun Greek has been added to one of my favorite Cajun restaurants. There are a few reasons why, and I'll get into to that in deeper detail right now. Starting when you first find the place where it is located and the parting are a bit difficult to understand. This is because the restaurant is not in a lot like a lot of people are used to. Instead it is really on the street and I really can't explain it, so I added a picture for you guys to see for yourselves. But I can tell you that when I left the restaurant it was a bit of a challenge to leave the parking lot because the cars just kept on coming. After you pass the challenge of getting in the parking lot getting into the building is very welcoming which I am a big fan of. I wish I would've taken a picture of the waiting area, but it's just like any other. So after you leave the waiting area they lead you to a seat. Once in the seat they give you menus and you will wait for a your waiter to take your drink order, or if you're ready to order they will take both drink and food orders. I didn't take any pictures of my actual food, but I did take pictures of the appetizers which were my favorite. I ordered the stuffed crab and my mom ordered crawfish. I forgot what my dad ordered. I do know that I absolutely HATED the stuffed crab filling and this is because the filling was like a mush of chicken crab and shrimp. That was very nasty to me and I did not even eat one of them. I did order hush puppies and onion rings which were very delicious. The restrooms are clean and very accessible. The staff there are very nice but I just did not have that great of a time as I hoped I would. Over all I'm a 50/50 about this place it wasn't good but it wasn't bad. read more

The manager (I believe), Louis, threw in free bread, hush puppies, and crab cracking utensils - which was really generous and much appreciated. The seafood was excellent and there was plenty for everyone. But what really stood out was how friendly and accommodating Louis was. This trip was dedicated to my grandfather, and Louis's kindness helped make it special for all of us. Great food, great service, great people. Thank you, Louis, for going the extra mile. Why 3 stars? Because it was all mostly fine, but just way too expensive. --- --- --- On our way to meet up with family at a west-end beach house, we stopped at Cajun Greek to pick up dinner to-go. We ordered: Fried Pickles, a greek salad, a crab cake, crab bisque, kids chicken nuggets and a slice of chocolate cake. The total after a tip was $94. And this would be fine the crab cake was really high quality, but it was very unimpressive. Everything else ranged from average-to-good, but the crab cake soured the meal. It was kind of a weird soggy texture and hilariously small. I did enjoy the crab bisque and the chocolate cake though. The kicker was when I went inside to pick up the food. My wife asked me to get her a fountain drink. The bartender, to her credit, warned me that it would be $5.19, and asked me if I wanted it anyway. I knew my wife definitely did want it, so I obliged, but more than $5 for a fountain drink is almost NFL stadium pricing. Wild. All that being said, our meal was decent overall, but $100 for 3 people makes it hard to imagine I'd be rushing to come back for a second visit. read more

My fiance and I visited this establishment on her birthday because she wanted crabs. The place is cozy and patrons at the bar were extra friendly. While we were deciding what to include in our BOI platter we had a group of slightly buzzed people offering us shrimp, crab and crawfish to taste from their platter. We politely declined at least twice and settled on blue crab and shrimp. I believe we got 3 lbs of crab (6 whole, cleaned blue crab) and 1.5 lbs of shrimp. The platter came with 2 cups of dipping sauces and totaled a little over $80. It was both of ours first time eating blue crab and we were pleasantly surprised. The crabs are twice the size of the blue crab I see in the grocery store. They were also pretty easy to bust down using my teeth because we ordered Togo and they don't offer any crackers to take with you. The crab was good. The shells are harder but the meat is softer than the snow crab we usually eat. Blue crab has now been added to our crustacean rotation! read more

This was our first visit to Cajun Greek after passing it on other visits to the island. We gave ourselves a few extra days this trip to try some of the places we've seen - or have been recommended - and we're off to a great start. Luis did an excellent job of serving us and the kitchen did an excellent job of filling us. We started with Boudin Balls which are very good. We shared it but it's a serving of five, so it's hard to split between a couple, so be ready to battle for the last one (or get your own order.) My wife had the Flounder Special which was flounder with rice (she upgraded to Cajun Rice) and asparagus. I ordered the Seafood Platter which was much larger than I expected and I am not complaining. The fried shrimp are good, I loved the oysters, my wife stole part of my catfish so we both enjoyed it and the stuffed crab was excellent. I would order it again, if I had been fasting for a week or so. Highly recommended. Service (thanks, Luis!) was fast and friendly. I am glad we finally found the time to visit while we were in town. Nice atmosphere with several seating areas, a sun room up front, the main dining room and bar, then there is a back room which is nice for big parties. The bar drinks are ok, we ordered a lemon drop martini that was too sour to enjoy, but beer was nice and cold! The parking lot is tight but it's free parking in the back of the restaurant. Our server was friendly and fun. He explained our options and did a great job. They provide you with bibs and gloves which were so appreciated! We ordered the BOI (Born on the island) platter with 5lbs of crawfish, 3lbs of blue crab , sausage, corn, potatoes & mushrooms in spicy seasoning (you can choose from mild to very spicy). It came out steaming hot and everything tasted so fresh! We had a crab cake and it was very meaty and tasty. The 16oz Ribeye steak was a bit overcooked (we ordered medium) but was delicious and tender. When you order the steak it's the only thing you get. You have to order sides separately which we ordered fries. We will definitely come back for more delicious food when we are in Galveston! Do NOT order shawarma! My wife ordered a Greek salad and was satisfied with her meal (it was just a salad). But, the shawarma was inedible. It tasted spoiled. The meat wasnt shawarma meat (more like dry, over seasoned gyro meat) in a jack in the box style pita with no veggies, Greek yogurt, pickles, or anything resembling shawarma. The poor waitress walked up as I took the first bite to ask us how everything was and saw me immediately spit it into the napkin. She was very nice and apologized for the food and tried to recommend other dishes but, whatever that spoiled taste was turned me off from anything coming from that kitchen. They clearly do not taste their food before sending it out. Hopefully the owners see this review and improve the quality of their food or the quality of their cooks or both. The service and the food were both good! Nothing particularly special about either of those. We actually chose this restaurant because it had vegetarian options on the menu, which is HARD to find on an island where almost every restaurant only serves seafood. I really liked the fried pickles - they reminded me of the ones that I used to eat back home when I was working at a local restaurant. It was a deliciously nostalgic experience! I will say, however, that I found the food to be overpriced. The vegetarian gyro that I enjoyed was $19 SOLO, and if I wanted to add fries or something as a side, it would've cost me $4+ more. As longtime vegetarian, I was shocked to see such a high price for a menu item that didn't contain any meat. I'd definitely return for the fried pickles!! But probably not for a full meal. read more
