You can add a shrimp on top and turn it into a "Shrimphooley". Everything they serve is outstanding, but I focus on anything "oyster"! If you're a chicken liver or gizzard person, they have the absolute best I've ever eaten. When you arrive you might scratch your head and wonder, "should I really go into this place?", but don't hesitate. If you think it's a bit crude and unrefined now, you should have seen it 18-20 years ago. Back then they didn't have a table with 4 chairs that matched; you'd see people sitting at the bar early in the day having their beer and cigarette, looking like the missed their weekly Saturday bath. Sitting outside was the best spot when the weather was good and the outdoor bar was very convenient. Years ago there was neighborhood guy (I can't remember his name now) who would go around table to table with his home made salsa haveing you tasted it and then selling you a jar with some chips to accompany your fantastic meal. Once of the best policy which they've kept for years is, "

The outdoor seating area is a great spot to unwind, and the roaming cats add their own brand of entertainment. Food ranges from great to "maybe next time." Hushpuppies are a skip. The spinach artichoke crab dip is solid, and the raw oysters taste good but are sometimes overly salty. The shrimp gumbo is some of the best I've had, though it occasionally suffers from the same heavy hand with salt. Still, I always get a bowl to go. For entrées, the fried catfish is the favorite, but it's not always consistent; sometimes it comes out overcooked, sometimes they get it right. The grilled platter is a dependable alternative. And whatever you do, trade the fries for onion rings -- they're the sure thing on the plate. Even with the occasional overcooked catfish and oversalted dishes, we keep coming back. The vibe, the gumbo, and the character of the place make it worth the trip.

The food was great and you couldn't beat the atmosphere. I don't know why we don't come here more often. May have to change that! When we arrived, we chose to sit upstairs to enjoy the pretty ocean view and were served right away. The vibes were great with a lively crowd, a slight breeze, sunny weather, and beach hut inspired décor. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. It is honestly impressive that they serve 50 cent oysters all day, every day, so of course we ordered three dozen. The Gulf oysters were large and fresh, and they did not skimp on the cocktail sauce or horseradish. Even though this spot is pretty far from my house, the oyster deal alone might make it worth the drive. My dad and I also ordered the Fried Mushrooms. They were fried beautifully, crispy on the outside and perfectly bite sized, which made them very addictive. Our waiter recommended the Parmesan Crusted Redfish and said it was the best item on the menu. While it was good, the Parmesan coating leaned a bit salty. That said, it was cooked well and still enjoyable. If I came back, though, I would probably try something different, like the Fish Tacos he also suggested. Overall, between the unbeatable oyster deal, friendly service, and relaxed coastal atmosphere, this restaurant makes for a fun and worthwhile outing. While not every dish was perfect, the value and setting make it a place I would happily return to, especially on a sunny day.
