One of our places when in Galveston for drinks @ music. Gabby took great care of us. We shared a couple lbs of crawfish and ice cold beer.

I only took a picture of my flatbread, which was good, but not anything remarkable. I don't like seafood so that's my fault. My family members who do enjoy seafood said that it was some of the best they had on the island during our trip! They had crab, fried shrimp, and the fish and shrimp platter.

We hadn't tried the new locations so decided to check out happy hour at Huli Huli! The new location seems much bigger with a pleasant patio area in the back to enjoy the sunshine if the weather is good. Happy hour deals on drinks and food were excellent. We especially loved the shrimp kisses and deals on well drinks. The menu has lots of variety and something for everyone. Overall, a fun place to grab a drink and a bite.

I stopped by here a couple of days ago for lunch. We were at the Railroad Museum in Galveston around lunchtime when my wife pulled up Yelp to find somewhere to eat and came across the Huli Huli Hut. Since it was Sunday and there were plenty of TVs around the restaurant, you could catch almost any NFL game you wanted. Inside, the place had a laid-back, beachy feel with lots of colorful wall art, wood accents, and a large bar lined with taps and TVs showing the games. For lunch on this day, I decided on the oyster po' boy. The menu offered the choice of fried, grilled, or blackened shrimp or fish, or fried oysters with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce. Our food took a little while to arrive, but it looked good when it did. My sandwich had plenty of fried oysters, and they were tasty with a breading that carried a little bit of spice. The tartar sauce added some welcome moisture and flavor too. Finally, the fries were excellent, super crispy on the outside, giving each bite a nice crunch. My twins especially loved those and cleared their plates. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought our food was good, and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere while catching the football games.

Great service with Daniel! He gave us a great selection for crawfish, shrimp and blue crabs at a great deal. Crawfish is only available this week. Everything is extremely good especially the blue crabs which broiled and spicy. Great singing performances for a few hours at night.

Was here to try something new for my birthday. My coworker recommended this place so I drove from Houston to Galveston. First impression was this is a local spot. When we walked in we were a little confused. There wasn't a greeter @ the front. Finally someone @ the bar told us to seat ourselves. We then had to figure out to scan the QR code for the menu & a server eventually arrived. I told him this was our 1st time & we were celebrating my birthday. The server said happy birthday, but a nice touch would've been a complimentary something. I wasn't expecting it, but it would have been nice. We ordered grilled redfish with rice & onion rings, chicken wings, bayou boudin balls & fish & chips. Everything arrive promptly & hot, but very flavorless. They give you a decent amount for what you pay, but nope. I guess I'm used to Cajun seafood. The bayou balls & chicken wings had a little flavor, nothing else. My friend recommended the blue crabs & that's what I should've gotten. I would never make a special trip again just to eat here, but if I'm in the area, maybe I'll try the blue crabs.

Appreciate being able to visit a spot that I've been told is where the locals go. My kinda place to grab some casual food and cocktails. Happy Hour runs from 3p-7p with specials on food and drinks. Staff is super friendly and make sure you're well taken of during your visit. Prices are very reasonable considering most places are trying g to get all of the "tourist dollars". The place overall is a vibe as the music plays and the energy is up. Enjoyable experience visiting the Huli Huli Hut

We had a group of seven at lunchtime. The server did great! We ordered pizzas, burgers and appetizers at our table. I can comment on my breakfast burger, it was so delicious! The fries were plain, but not bad. The pizzas that others ordered at our table looked amazing and they said they were yummy. We'll be back for sure.

In town for the night before our cruise. Coming from the DFW area we wanted some good seafood. So we set out early enough to get a table on a Friday night. The wait was only 20 minutes max around 6pm. This place is huge inside. We were led back to "garage" area. I wish we would have waited for an inside restaurant table. It looks like a converted garage and the lighting was horrible. So dark that we had to use our phones with light to see the menu. Also live music came in and we were right next to the stage. It was too loud to have a conversation with anybody at our table. The waiter was great and helpful in ordering. Loved the margarita I had. The service was a little slow and we got our appetizer at the same time as our dinner. Now, the Huli fries were awesome! Just wish it was times better. I had the fried seafood platter and it was good. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. I would recommend sitting inside if you want to have a conversation during dinner or more light to see.

Lots of good options on the menu, and I was craving their famous cinnamon roll pancakes, but then a server brought out migas to a table and I immediately knew I wanted that instead. Here, it's a little opposite from most places, you gotta pick your seat first then order as the seats, especially the tables, are hard to come by at times. There are plenty stools along the window but the tables are better and most tables are family style so you'll likely be meeting someone new. I also added a chocolate bread pudding for myself which looked really good. The rest of my group ordered the granny's breakfast with sausage, 2 scrambled eggs and Benny's tostadas. The food comes out surprisingly quick for as busy as they are. Everything was so delicious! I ate a little of the bread pudding at the restaurant, then eventually ate the rest over the course of the next few hours. Yum! This restaurant is highly recommended!

People rave about the service. The service is fine. You order at the counter and get your own silverware and drinks. The food is another story. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn. Mash was fine. Corn was whatever. From can to plate. Nothing added. The CFS was atrocious. It was like breaded & over salted shoe leather. See the pictures. I couldn't eat all of it. The best thing on the plate was the toast. Oh, and they charge $19 for it. Whether frozen or homemade, which I doubt, to deliberately serve this to a customer, shame on you. My wife got the BLT. $13.50 for bread and lettuce with a little bacon. No mayo or mustard. Plain and bland. We realized later that you have to procure your own condiments, I think. Still, it was not good. The fries were undercooked and tasted baked. Sorry, but I feal betrayed by social media and what must be friendly reviews. This review is honest. The place is cool and I had high hopes but was sorely disappointed. Oh, I had a piece of cherry cheesecake. It was good.

On the first visit, my dining partner ordered the omelette which looked amazing! You're able to choose your own ingredients. My chicken salad sandwich on a croissant was mediocre. The chicken salad was very boring, and the croissant was not super tasty. The next day the Eggs Benedict I ordered was excellent! The potatoes were cooked pretty well. Service was a bit lacking that day though, and I noticed several flies buzzing about next to us by the window. We didn't have to wait to be seated either day, so that is really nice. After much searching we came across this locals favorite and decided to try it out. This was the first place where I tried a poached egg and it was PERFECT! Many times I have thought fondly of this place but haven't had the heart to check and see if it is still open since many tropical storms and floods have hit Galveston since our last visit. Covid happened since our last visit too! I mentioned this place to a friend and she got excited over the building. Hearing her mention the building, I searched the business. Sure enough, it is still open!!! I now need to make the trip back out to this delicious memory lane.

Ok, too much so let's go with vintage. Yeah, that's the ticket! There seems to be an upstairs area wonderfully lit with all types of Americana & beach decor. That area use to have cots so druggists (pharmacists name decades ago) could monitor patrons who took medications sold to them. The marble rectangle counter called a "horseshoe" (it isn't) is the clue since it appears smallish by modern standards. The counter base tile. It may date to 1917. Great sweet OJ got me started & I recommend it! A tasty breakfast menu caught my attention so I ordered the Brkfst BLT w/Country Potatoes & a Scrambled Egg even though it was straight up noon! For me, Star has a morning feel to it & the 8:30am-2:30pm hours suggest as much. I it! Thejuice was first & served cold -- makes a difference. It was sweet sans pulp & just delicious! Hit the spot! The BLT was fabulous! Two huge crispy strips of bacon topped thick slices of ruby-red juicy along a cool bed of lettuce in between 2 toasted slices of wheat bread with a perfect spread of mayo on each. Nicely grilled cubed potatoes complimented the plate --YUM! Can't forget the scrambled egg. Not runny or too fluffy. Just right! Damn! This place doesn't miss! Sounded good to me, sign me up. After a brief search for parking, we hopped out and got in about an hour before closing time. This is one of those joints that serves breakfast and lunch, the closes. Noted for my next visit. We walked in and were greeted promptly and seated. This place gives off a general store with an old diner type vibe. I was digging it, feeling very nostalgic. The nice waitress took our drink order, and we perused the menu. With an hour left to close, I prompted my party not to take their sweet time. The menu has a lot of delicious looking breakfast items and some yummy sandwiches. In the mood for brunch, I focused on the breakfast portion, as did most of my party. All, with the exception of my wife ordered the French toast with bacon. I ordered my bacon crispy. The wife ordered a BLT of some sort. The food came in good time. We all got to work quickly on our plates so we fill our bellies, and let these nice folks go home. One of my kiddos complained their bacon was too crispy. Looking down at my bacon, it looked a little limp. I took a bite and my bacon was like rubber. Well crud. The waitress mixed the orders up. I could have just got their bacon, and they could get mine, but I do not like fingering someone else's food. That was on me, but if you do not like chewy bacon, ask them to make it crispy, and not mix it up. I started on my plate and woofed the French toast down. It was pretty good. I will admit I had higher hopes and it was a bit underwhelming. Tasted more of the griddle than I wanted it to. That being said, it still was pretty good. We all finished our plates, looked around the store briefly, paid, then were gone in a flash. Overall, not a bad experience. We will be back on one of our future trips to the strand. There were a lot of menu items that I would like to try. As I browsed at other entrees of other patrons as I walked out, I got a better idea of what to order next time. I would recommend Star Drug Store for sure. Enjoy!

We, like many other diners, ate outside - the window for eating al fresco is narrow so we do it while we comfortably can. We were tempted to get Roman artichokes for our appetizer knowing how delicious they are, but instead we ventured out and got the calamari puttanesca. Good decision? Absolutely! The squid was tender, the capers lent delightful brininess to the intense-in-a-good-way San Marzano tomato sauce. The only thing that would have improved the dish is if we'd had the smarts to order bread with it to sop everything up. Next time, next time... Dan being Dan had to have Greek salad. We shared it and I must say that I really appreciate their approach to this ubiquitous offering. It has feta, but its presence is not heavy handed. Don't get me wrong - I adore feta but sometimes it overtakes a salad. There were Persian cucumbers, small yellow tomatoes, thinly sliced onions, very fresh, crisp lettuce, and no pepperoncini! Now you might think the absence of peppers would be a bad thing but I beg to differ. Too often restaurants use them and they turn out to be tough and woody. For the record, of all brands we've bought, DeLallo is consistently the best. For mains, because I am just about incapable of not getting it, I got the boscaiola. If you haven't had it, get it! It's a stunningly well balanced dish of pappardelle, mushrooms, and confit chicken. It is perfection in a bowl. Dan got the rigatoni alla vodka with confit chicken. The rigatoni entree is what we saw on Facebook some time back that made both of us think that we really, really needed to give Gonzalo's a try. Pro move, y'all, pro move! Drinks: old fashioned for me and a whiskey sour for Dan and glasses of Pinot grigio. Did we have room for dessert? No, and that made me a little sad. But we'll be back! Dan has a birthday coming up...
