Dinner

It was our last night in Galveston, and we wanted a good dinner. Nick's is actually a very large restaurant, which is deceiving from the outside. When we walked through the doors, we were shocked how large a space it was, but it is very open, bright, and inviting. We were seated in one of the semi circular booths, which was enjoyable. We ended up deciding to order a variety of appetizers, so that we would have room for dessert. We had no idea that even appetizer portions were huge! We ordered chicken wings, onion rings, and a garlic shrimp appetizer. We were not enthralled with the garlic shrimp appetizer, the garlic was so overwhelming that it made it hard to enjoy the dish. The onion rings were huge, and there was an enormous amount of them. We could barely make a dent in that appetizer. The real star was the chicken wings. They were extremely well done, and the Thai chili sauce topping was excellent. Despite being overwhelmingly full, we decided to go forward with splitting the crustless pecan pie dessert. It comes out warmed, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was chuck full of pecans, and was absolutely excellent. The ice cream was a delicious counterpart to the pie. Our server was super friendly, and we enjoyed our experience at Nick's immensely. We would highly recommend!

If you're cruising the seawall looking for a solid meal with a side of ocean views, Nick's Kitchen and Beach Bar should be on your radar. We discovered it through Galveston Restaurant Week. They offered three course meals so diners could get a feel for what they offer. The portion sizes are insane. I never finish my meal, always take it to-go. You'll never leave hungry. Service is always warm and friendly. Our waiter, Aaron on our first visit was an absolute character. He kept the jokes coming. Nick's is part of the legendary Gaido family, an iconic seafood dynasty.

I had a light dinner here last week while in town. The menu has a lot of similarities with its next door neighbor, Gaido's as Nick's is its little brother. Nick's offers a nice outdoor seating area on Seawall Blvd. that is also covered along with indoor seating, of course. Inside it's brightly lit with nice local art on the walls and a full bar. I ordered their Charles Brooks shrimp gumbo (bowl sized) for $11.49. It was delivered shortly after with a large slice of buttered french bread and some crackers and a mound of white rice in the roux. The protein was shrimp only as advertised. I thought the quantity and price were reasonable. The taste of the roux was good in my opinion and I rated the gumbo as a 3.5. However, It was good only at that price in my opinion. I added a hand spun vanilla milkshake for $7.50. With the cherry and whipped cream on top it was a good tasting shake. The waitress was nice and efficient. My exposure was limited here so my score maybe off but I rated this restaurant a 3. In a town that has many good restaurant options, I would return to Nick's but would also consider several others first.

This restaurant is nice! We went in a large party on a nice day & sat outside. Our waitress handled our party well. The menu is inclusive & the food is good! We were hoping for oysters, but the waitress told us the water was too warm for them. I got the shrimp platter & it was good.

I know Nick's is meant for seafood, but the Chicken Michael looked so good that I had to get it. The photo really doesn't do it justice but it was delicious, good portion size, & for $20 in this economy that's hard to beat. I'm not a big chicken breast fan so I was a bit worried this was going to come out dry and bland like I've experienced at other places, but I still wanted to give it a shot and I'm grateful I did. The chicken was juicy and sooo well seasoned. It had this buttery, lemony, caper sauce on top that tied it all together. I usually need additional sauce but this didn't need it & that's a compliment in my book. The garlic mashed potatoes were buttery and seasoned perfectly. I also had the fried calamari, jumbo shrimp, & mozzarella sticks (NOT frozen store bought) which were fantastic. Dare I say...the best mozzarella sticks I've had in a looooong time. They seasoned the batter & it made a big difference. According to the waiter, most of their items are made in house & it shows. Good service & a spacious place with LOTS of seating. I've been unfortunately let down by many spots in Galveston, but this is not one of them. I'd definitely come back.

My family and I stopped by for food after spending the afternoon at the beach. I was a bit nervous considering my 2 year had not had her nap yet aaaaand we had our doggie with us (small YorkiePoo). I did call while we were parking to make sure dogs were allowed! We were seated in the outside patio area and there was a breeze and it really felt nice! Great day to eat outside honestly! Our waitress, Madison was awesome! She was responsive, patient, and sweet. Our food was delicious. I ordered the shrimp platter, my husband the shrimp tacos, my big girl a burger, and the baby chicken nuggets. Everything came out quickly and was delicious! Oh and we ordered frozen margaritas. I will be back, the food was tasty and margaritas were sweet and delicious! Good times, great food!

Service was amazing, our waitress was the kindest and gave good recommendations. The place is really nice and comfortable. Food was amazing, too. We (party of 3) went in without knowing what to expect and came out very happy.

The location is right on the seawall and the beach is immediately across so it's part of your view along with the activity in the people driving and walking along the seawall. Great place on the Seawall. Great food! Great Service. Clean restrooms. Go!

11/14/2025: What a great experience! Virginia was our server. She was great right out of the gate! We chose inside dining since it was still a little warm outside. The inside if really cool because they have a pool view right along the side of the restaurant. Apparently, it is a family-owned restaurant and motel. We did not sit on that side, but it was neat to see. They have outdoor seating that faces the ocean, regular table seating inside, booth seating inside, and an inside bar area. We were in between lunch and dinner, but we were very hungry. We decided on the Shrimp Bang Bang, gumbo, oysters, and friend pickles (don't judge! ;)) Everything was very good. I think my favorite was the Shrimp Bang Bang and the gumbo. The siracha sauce was very tasty. Virginia was super throughput our stay. Out glasses were always full, and the service was exceptionally gracious! I've passed this place so many times and never stopped in. So glad I finally got to try it. The restrooms were very clean as was the entire restaurant. $52 and change BEFORE tip. Don't forget to tip your waitstaff, especially when they are as great as Virginia. Keep it up Virginia. You made our stay so great!

Iconic Galveston spot, friendly service and good food. The owner Nick even stopped by our table. We even bought shirts to rep this place from our visit to Galveston. Very family friendly. We went on a rainy day and there was a fair amount of people inside so it felt cozy.

I really enjoyed discovering Nick's kitchen and beach bar! Just from the very beginning it has its own parking. That is a great plus when it comes to a busy summer time in Galveston. We choose this place it's because it's pet friendly (outside area), which we were able to bring our puppy and enjoy a meal during our trip. Also, you have a nice beach view while having your meal. The service was very fast and welcoming. And the food was very fresh and did not feel too greasy. I would definitely comeback! Our puppy also enjoyed her time there!

Fried oysters that were disappointingly chewy, but the salmon dish was very good and oddly enough included sliced squash as a side dish.

Chose this over white-tablecloth and more expensive Gaudi's next door, heard they share the same kitchen. My son had the salmon, which was a healthy portion with a special sauce. But I was hugely disappointed in my fried oysters! Thought it would taste better at a seaside town, but not so. Oysters were chewy and probably not fresh at all. Not sure we totally got our money's worth this time. Service was okay, young staff that was just barely friendly.

We are admittedly food snobs. our meal from start to finish was nothing short of spectacular. We highly recommend starting with the CRAB STUFFED SHRIMP, (yum). The WEDGE (get a half!) is so good and fresh (I had no blue cheese, substituted with ranch). The WHITE (loaded chowder) and the JOBBER (loaded gumbo) were totally delectable. They both came with crispy garlic bread. THEN, even though we didn't need it, we shared the CRUISER LINGUINI (linguini with clams, bacon, white wine sauce, tomatoes, leeks) seriously totally to die for. We counted at least 30 little neck clams. We could have rolled out the door by now, but nooo... we had to have dessert. We chose the Crème Brûlée Trio. The selections are seasonal. Tonight was coconut, tres leches, and pecan. Of course we added cappuccino and Baileys. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Our server, Misty was a delight. We WILL be back!!

We made an 8:00 reservation and then we're running late and called to let them know. They had no issues when we arrived even though it was 20 minutes late. The restaurant was smaller than I expected but very nice and when we arrived we were among the last tables to be seated for the evening. The servers were fantastic, and especially our server, Haley, who took care of all of our needs. She kept our water glasses full, kept checking on us and took care of all of our dinner needs. My mother and I started with the chowder and house salad. We then ordered our meal and my mother had the Cedar Plank Salmon and I had the Blvd seafood sampler with Redfish, shrimp and scallops and both of our meals were outstanding. The seafood chowder, even just a cup was huge with tons of seafood, so much so I was wondering if I'd be able to eat my meal. It was filling but I devoured the seafood and found that I love Redfish! Yvonne came over mid meal to check on us. I presume she was a manager. Blvd is an outstanding and reasonable restaurant and I highly recommend that you check it out if you are in the area or coming to Galveston for a cruise. I look forward to returning in the future.

That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. The stuffing was packed with flavor but I could still taste the shrimp. The catfish was fried to a golden crisp and it came out hot! The potatoes were surprisingly good. I wanted the bean relish but my wife nixed that idea. The hush puppies were okay. They were dense and flavorful but just a little too small and crispy for my taste. The fries were limp but they were alright. Overall, I'd go back to Shrimp N Stuff for a quick bite to eat. It's not somewhere to go for a fancy date, maybe the third or fourth date. Why 5 stars? Fish Company Taco proved to be like finding water in the desert. A lot of Galveston eateries are very similar, in that there's an ample amount of fried seafood on the menu, which is not exactly what you're looking for when you're in the bloated, but wanting to eat *something* state that we were in. My thought was: fish tacos are relatively light and we can walk there from our hotel - how do you beat that? What I didn't realize is that this place probably belongs more in the Heights than Galveston. And I mean that in a good way. The menu is very hipster-coded. And the food matches with hipster quality. It's hard to say what my favorite item even was. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the fish dip - it was just okay. Everything else ranged from good to great. We tried... The burger: FYI, it's more like a double stacked slider than a burger, but delicious. 3 Tacos: Dirty South, Empire and Korean Flavors. I really liked the empire and the korean flavors, but thought the dirty south had a little too much going on with the pimento cheese and chips. Sticky Shrimp: I don't even know how to describe this, but it was delicious. I thought it as more like bang bang shrimp, but it was more fried that I expected. But not hardcore fried - they almost had the airy texture of fried pork skins, but were much tastier. Chili marinated Cucumbers and corn ribs: Simple, refreshing and addicting. But I liked the cucumbers a bit more. They also had some fresh juices and we enjoyed both the mango and the coconut lime concoctions. An easy 5-stars for me and a place I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.
