This Resturant is such a hidden GEM! Seriously, I was very nervous coming to eat here because of how inexpensive their menu was. The service was some of the best I've seen. Kindness, attention to details, good attitudes, etc. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. The one thing that took me off guard was that you order at the front of the restaurant, but that allows the servers to provide much better service to the tables. My group of 9 had appetizers, drinks from the bar, and all of our food within 15-20 minutes. Unreal. If I lived nearby I would be taking a lot of people here. Nice work coastal grill! read more

I stopped by here yesterday with my family for dinner. We didn't actually eat inside the restaurant but instead had beers across the street. Coastal Grill allows you to call in a to-go order and they'll deliver your food right over to you, which is awesome. My wife called in our order, and a short time later our food arrived. For dinner on this day I decided to go with the crawfish tail po' boy. It came served with lettuce, tomato, and remoulade sauce on a toasted bun. When I opened my to-go container, I had to admit that it looked good. There was so much crawfish that it was constantly spilling out, and I ate a bunch that had escaped. The sandwich itself tasted great, with the crawfish lightly fried and the remoulade sauce adding a nice tang. I ended up finishing the whole thing and only wished there had been a little more sauce to balance out the bread. Our family's order also came with a large amount of onion straws. They were quite good, thinly sliced, nicely breaded, and still crispy. They would have been excellent with a little more salt, but since our table at the brewery didn't have any, that's just more reason to eat inside the restaurant next time. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My whole family enjoyed our meal, and those onion straws especially had great potential. read more

You order cafeteria style and they bring your food/drinks to the table. The drinks- just looking at the cocktail menu was not a good start, then seeing what a couple others got further disappointed. I went with a cosmo thinking that was simple enough and it was just okay. Not bad, not great. Super basic options. The food- actually all really delicious but I thought the tuna stack and mushrooms were a bit overpriced. The fish taco was a good deal though; I expected street taco size and it's bigger than that. I didn't try the scallops but took a photo and was told they were excellent. We also had the chips and hummus plate. That was tasty as well. All in all, an enjoyable evening but not up to par with what I prefer on several levels. If you just want some seafood to-go, this would be a good place for that. read more

I wasn't expecting this place to be as good as it was. Wowzers!! A pretty readable menu and including vegan options with huge portions. Grilled vegetables: tomatoes, onions, squash, zucchini, potatoes, paired on a bed of white rice covered in some garlic sauce. It cannot get anything better than that! Absolutely delicious and fulfilling. The service was great; the staff are so good looking and attractive which goes well with good delicious food. I really enjoy the Mediterranean dishes here and have dined in person previously. This time, we ordered takeout from coastal grill and food still arrived hot! Fries were crispy and flavorful and the kebab did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the flavor of the sweet potato puree and only wished the dish came with more! We hardly got the kids situated when our orders arrived steaming hot and ready to eat. There was a wide array of reasonably priced food options to choose from. The portion sizes are generous. I know there are alot of wonderful food choices in Galveston, but the quality of food for the price was worth it and above some of the others we tried. The concept here is very simple. Walk indoors (wheelchair and stroller friendly) and place your order at the counter. You can order everything at once or you can be like us and order drinks w/apps while you ponder the menu. Tip: I recommend you take a picture of the specials menu before you seat yourself. Theres some amazing options! Truly high quality. My son had the grilled shrimp and they were some of the best shrimp Ive had. If you love shrimp, I highly recommend that one. It's a blessing to get fresh Gulf Shrimp! I recently spent 5 days in the Houston/Galveston area. The food for the most part was a positive experience. For our last evening in Galveston we chose the Coastal Grill for dinner; this was by far our best meal during our entire trip! The setting is very casual but you are warmly greeted after entering, then seated at your table and given menus. Once you've made your selection, you return back to the front of the restaurant to place your order and your food is brought to your table. The menu offers plenty of options, they have a full bar, and the desserts looked amazing! I'm not sure about parking as we arrived by ride share. Our entrees of choice were: the coastal shrimp platter which was on special and the mahi-mahi....both DELICIOUS! Ever morsel was perfect, flavorful, fresh, and left you wanting the next bite! The food is full of flavor and there are lots of choices to satisfy everyone. The portions are large too. The meals are a la cart so if you want a side you have to order it separately. You order at the front and they bring it to you. I loved the veggie side, they were grilled and soooo good. I wish I got the green beans too because they looked great too. Walking into this place will impress you as you notice the menu for their daily specials, their extensive bar and their great selection of wine choices. However, as for their beer choices, everything is served in a can of bottle, there is no draft and there's not much in the way of craft beer. The only thing that seems out of place, is the fact that you have to order your entire meal and drinks at the counter, instead of having a waitress. However, I can live with that, because it seems to keep their prices low, making them one of the best deals on the strand. They have $5 mixed drinks from11-5:30 which are better than you expect. The other thing they have going for them is ample seating, which means you probably won't have to wait too long for a table. We started with the grilled scallops on spinach which were seared perfectly. I had the fish and chips daily special and I was surprised how much fish was included. The wife had the veggie kebab which was perfectly cooked over a bed of rice. However, for some reason they added oil to the kebab, which was unnecessary. To have a seafood restaurant in a place like Galveston means you better deliver with food and service. The restaurant choices are plentiful and the competition is fierce. Coastal Grill delivers with a nice comfortable setting. It's roomy and has a nautical feeling with a fully stocked bar. In fact, their happy hour starting at 11 in the morning is quite generous. You come to a seafood restaurant in Texas for essentially two things, shrimp and fish. Well, I ordered the combo to sample both. The shrimp was meaty and delicious and the fish ( sort of cornmeal battered whitefish) was equally delicious. Both were made to order and served hot. My only complaint with the Coastal Grill is charging charging four dollars for my side fries. My goodness there should be some side that comes with a meal such as that. So, in essence, add four or five dollars to all the menu prices to make it comparable to most every other restaurant on planet earth. All in all, the food was delicious. It was conveniently located on the quiet end of the Strand. Parking was available and the service was impeccable. Other than them charging for any side, I can recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly. read more

Strange combination- fancy/expensive dinner items but you have to order at the counter, a server brings you your food & nobody checks on you, forget about refills or condiments ‍Ambiance just feels awkward, not really sure what to do, where and/or when. Overall the food tastes like it is missing something.. the ahi tuna stack appetizer was very bland and the chips were stale. My husbands steak was over cooked and very thin, my sons steak was perfect, the shrimp kabobs were pretty good- the shrimp tasted very fresh and was cooked perfectly.
