    Oysters.

Attended the Sunday Brunch in the fabled Grand Galvez hotel. At first glance it looked amazing. However upon closer inspection none of the covered broilers were labeled. Each one was a mystery to open to see what was inside. The carving station and the omelet and pasta stations were amazing. Sadly we were sat at noon per our reservation and some of the food ran out during our meal. Talked to a staff member about the oysters and he had served on an oyster trawler and discussed how the worms would crawl out of the shells and bite him. He assured me they inspected theirs. But still... The service was good but not fine dining good. It's Galveston so fine dining is relative. They still did all we asked.

Beautiful setting located in the Grand Galvez. Fabulous music. Greeted warmly by the host and he took us immediately to a table. Started with a mimosa. The shrimp poboy was excellent. Shrimp fried perfectly on a delicious roll. Our server was amazing! Great lunch!

Monarch is in the Grand Galvez hotel which has plenty of rich history and space to rest and wander. Was not too busy for a Saturday lunch, so we waited out the rain for a lunch here and loved their brisket sandwich and burger and fries. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and the ambiance was lovely and elevated. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

We are staying at the Hotel Galvez and had breakfast at the Monarch, and our experience was very pleasant. We have a large party, and the staff quickly arranged a table for us and they were very professional. Our waitress was very attentive, making our experience there feel warm and inviting. The food was really good. My daughter had the breakfast shrimp and grits and loved it. She had shrimp and grits at another Galveston restaurant the night before and she expressed how much better the ones were at the Monarch restaurant.

I honestly feel like you could order anything on the menu and it would be good! SERVICE: The service wasn't slow, but it wasn't the best we've ever had either. They were extremely busy with a wait, so it was understandable. If you're looking for a quick breakfast, I'd recommend going on a weekday rather than the weekend. AMBIENCE: Such a cute Southern breakfast café! It was packed when we went, but the space still felt surprisingly open and comfortable considering how many people were there. Overall, it has a really cute, casual breakfast atmosphere.

I ordered Steak and Eggs and my wife ordered the Crabmeat Omelette. My Steak and Eggs were very good. The steak was a perfect medium rare. The eggs were over medium to a T, simply amazing. The breakfast potatoes were soft yet firm with delicious little crispy bits hidden throughout. My wife's Crabmeat Omelette was good. The crabmeat wasn't overly fishy and the omelette was fluffy. It just needed something extra to take it over the top, like fresh green onions or chives. This place was great. Everything from the service, the food and the atmosphere was above and beyond. I am definitely coming back and trying everything.

The bar menu was extensive and there was a solid selection of local beer on draft. The server took awhile to take our drink orders but was attentive from there on out. The kids got pizza, a Caesar salad, chips and salsa, and a chicken Caesar. The pizza was really high quality, much more so than we expected. The Caesar was a bit soggy, and the chips and salsa were pretty standard. The adults ordered boiled seafood. As south Louisiana residents, we are often disappointed with boiled crawfish in other areas but Hulu Hulu Hut did it right. The prices were high but it was worth it.

Our waiter was decent, but my experience went downhill after I ordered the shrimp scampi. I specifically asked for no mushrooms, tomatoes, or spinach. When my meal arrived, it had extra mushrooms. I let the waiter know, and he apologized and had it remade. What disappointed me was that there was no effort to make up for the mistake. In many restaurants, when an order is incorrect and a customer has to wait while everyone else at the table is already eating, the staff will try to accommodate the inconvenience in some way. Instead, when my food finally came back, the shrimp was cold. At that point, I didn't complain again--I just ate a few bites. Afterward, we waited another 20-30 minutes for our check. When the waiter brought the card reader so I could pay, my daughter accidentally dropped one of her AirPods. While I was trying to help her pick it up and tap my card to pay, the waiter said, "Ma'am, please be careful with the machine. If anything happens to it, I have to replace it." I found that comment unnecessary and unprofessional, especially since I was simply helping my daughter while paying. Overall, the experience did not live up to the recommendations I received. Between the incorrect order, the long waits, the cold replacement meal, and the interaction at checkout, I left disappointed. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I was still charged extra for the mushrooms I didn't ask for

The food was astronomical, mark my words BEST PHO ON THE ISLAND, there I said it. The Pirate Seafood pho with chicken was dynamic with a flavor that I kept coming back for. It was like that scene in Ratatouille where the critic Anton Ego is at a loss for words. If there's one thing I know about Phos they usually take 3+ limes and a dollop of sriracha to make it taste right...but this? Perfect as is. Needs not a touch of anything more.
