Came here with my husband and his parents for dinner and had a wonderful time! The food was absolutely delicious. The chef came out to greet us and every other table to help with menu decisions and questions. He is such a kind man and very attentive. You can tell he takes great pride in his work! What a great date night place! The owners and chef are amazing. They both came to our table to greet us. The owner Megan is the wife of the chef Frank, and they are so personable and welcoming. Frank does a great job of explaining each of the dishes and guiding you to what your taste buds will love. The establishment is BYOB. We got the seafood lasagna and there was so much seafood packed into the dish! It is absolutely worth trying! The Osso Buco was good, but we think that the seafood lasagna knocked it out of the park. The burrata salad had great flavors and the house-made bread paired wonderfully with it. The calamari was okay, but to be honest, we are not much of fried food people so prefer a less fried calamari. A fun twist is that the calamari is named after his granddaughter! The house-made carrot cake is a must, the flourless chocolate cake was great, but the carrot cake was the winning dessert. So...have any other parties of 2 been sat beneath the stairs? Like literally under the stairwell? I ask because that's what happened to us last Friday night, 3/15/24. I glanced at some of the other reviews but didn't see anyone else mention that. While it wasn't anything that necessarily bothered us, it did take away our ability to really judge the restaurant's overall ambiance. However, based on what we had heard before going (that it can be a bit cramped and noisy - more on that later) that obviously wasn't our experience. We could talk and actually hear each other...even with an echo! And I will say that the service was pretty great. We never felt like we were forgotten about or anything like that...we even had service from Chef Triola (pronounced Tree-ola as he rightfully corrected me) himself, but it was still kinda strange. You can look at it two ways: Either we got a stellar and unexpected private dining experience, or (and it's unfortunate, but has to be said) as a minority couple, we felt a bit segregated. I'm a positive person, so I'll go with the former. However, I would want their management to note that being seated under the stairwell might not always be a well-received or even acceptable option with other guests. I would also advise the management to at least dress that area up a bit with maybe some photos or do a couch/long table for a more cozy and welcoming dining experience. In the current form, it felt like, "Dang, we're busy; stuff a table under the stairs. Let's hope they like it..." But I digress. The food is good, very good. But their menu doesn't have a lot of varied dietary options. If you're diet-restricted (keto, paleo, etc.), you'll have to tailor things quite a bit. I don't recall seeing gluten-free options, either. I had the Chicken Triola and just peeled off the fried skin. One big highlight is the Spicy Caesar Salad. It's excellent. I would consider going back and having this just for lunch. Pretty much everything has a sauce, but Chef kindly obliged when I requested mine on the side. I do want to reiterate that we had impeccable service, even on beverage refills. We never waited too long or felt rushed at any point...I mean, we were definitely out of the way so why rush us? This place definitely gets crowded (it's not too big). We were only under the stairs and didn't climb them, so we still don't know what the upstairs looked like. It also did seem a bit noisy in the dining room, but the loudest noise came from the kitchen. Someone was shouting from there loud enough to have even startled one of the other guests (an older woman) behind us. Chef was apologetic to her and explained that's just how they talk to each other, and it's all love. It reminded us of that FX show "The Bear." Again, based on our seating location, I'm sure the kitchen noises traveled a bit further than usual, too. I don't know if we'll be back anytime soon, but if we do, we may just go for the spicy Caesar at lunchtime. They have complimentary valet parking, but we just street-parked by Spanish Flower and walked across. But then again, it's hard to pass up a lunch at Spanish Flower... read more

Chef was very nice and came to the table to welcome everyone. Waiter was very nice too, but was all about the upsell. No bread was serves all, which being Italian was odd. Paid $6, for semi soggy garlic bread with no big beefy crust, more like sub roll. Cesar salad was good with hot honey or similar on croutons which popped. Chicken parm was good with hearty sauce, but for $24, a bit on the small side. My dinner was ice cold and by the time it was remade my husband was done, which sucked because being on vacation we really did want to eat together. Balsamic glaze on Chicken Vincent was overpowering and didn't allow the other flavors to come thru. Roasted veggies were good, but could tell they were pre-baked. I think a dessert or a glass of wine should have been comped at least. Instead the Chef presented the cold food in a "to go" like it was a trophy instead of a reminder of our wrecked evening. read more

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Even though we sat right outside the kitchen door (which took a little away from the ambiance), we didn't seem to mind so much. The chef was fun & gracious and came by several times to check on us and answer any questions. The food was awesome - very fresh! What a great experience! the head chef Frank met us at the door with a hearty handshake and a warm Italian welcome. From there the staff was attentive yet not pushy. Perfect balance. The food was the highlight though. Do not miss the lasagnas. All three are great. Also the soft shell crab is a winner. Lots of crab and a little fry. A would pass on the stuffed artichoke, too much stuffing. An artichoke needs to be simple because so good by itself. read more

We had a delicious dinner at Triola. We had the Caesar and Misto salads to start and the chicken triola and sea bass special for our entrees. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake and key lime pie. Everything was delicious. The food is great. The portions are quite large, we took home leftovers from both entrees. It's on the pricey side: appetizers range from $12-30 and entrees that come with sides from mid $20s-$65. While the food was terrific the restaurant is very loud and lacks ambiance. We went for a special occasion, something we shared in our reservation, but found that it isn't the kind of place that recognizes that, instead sort of moves diners in and out of the smallish space relatively quickly. We weren't rushed, but it's not a restaurant where people seemed to sit and linger and because it's loud it was hard to have a nice conversation. We would like to go back to try some of the other entrees and share a meal but I saw on the back of the menu a note indicating that every person must order and entree. read more

The ambiance of this place is lacking for a fancy date night but it doesn't matter because all of the food is SO good and the presence of the family establishment makes up for it. Bring your own wine and enjoy incredible Italian food. Casual atmosphere, great service. I had the seafood lasagna that was amazing, they don't skimp on the filling we also had the calamari, the beef carpaccio (highly recommend it was a flavor bomb), and the tiramisu for desert. I've been dining at Triolas on several occasions, and each one presented excellent options for great chef driven food. I've had the Salmon, which was perfectly done, and a couple of other selections which were perfect. The Triolas treat me like family, and I love bringing in friends who then become customers! Don't forget, they BYOB, and in my opinion I feel this adds so much value to an already wonderful experience. The setting is on two levels, and I like sitting upstairs as it is quiet, and more intimate. Go for the food, and stay for Meghan and Frank Triola, who will treat you like family! read more

Ambiance is quaint, fun, a bit loud but ok. Service was very good from the moment we walked in the door. The chefs wife greeted and seated us. She was so nice. Our waiter was very busy but for the most part was very good. Food was devine! We had the stuffed mushrooms for appetizer which were sooo good. I shared the seafood lasagna bc it was a large portion and very rich. My husband got the chicken and penne pasta - loved it. It was a big portion so he brought some home. I have no idea why, but when you try to pull up reviews for Triola's Kitchen, you get reviews for other restaurants. Triola's puts out some of the absolute best (and most unusual) Italian food in Houston. The emphasis is on pasta dishes, which are absolutely huge (big enough to split for most couples). The "appetizers" are also large, so be forewarned, or you'll end up taking home a lot of leftovers (which are delicious re-heated). Four of us could barely finish the fried calamari appetizer (as good as we've had), the Tomatoes Stella, and the Papa's Mushroom, followed by three pasta dishes (one couple split theirs), and then possibly the best slice of carrot cake (the four of us split) ever!
