We celebrated my husband's birthday at Tresca last night. It was wonderful. We started with the meatball appetizer,delicious. The sauce was excellent, they are served with whipped ricotta and a delicious crostini.Next We split the carbonara , excellent, so tasty. I had the lamb osso bucco. It was the best lamb dish I've ever eaten. The restaurant is beautiful. Tresca is warm and welcoming. We look forward to seeing Chef Rich. He made sure we were enjoying everything, he is a real classy guy, he's busy but still makes time to visit his guests. We will absolutely be returning to Tresca for all of our celebrations, it's the best. read more

I brought my dislike up to the waitress twice who acted like she did not speak english which was fine because I speak spanish. She completely ignored me twice and then offered me a box. We had a great time here! The owner of the restaurant made a point to come to all of the tables and introduce himself as well as come check on our food which was so nice! Were recently in Massachusetts for about a week. We stayed on the North shore mostly, but reserved a special night in the city and had reservations at Tresca. I was exhausted from travel, and the staff greeted up so warm and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table was right by a big window to the street, so it was fun to be in that vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Chef Rich came out to say hi and remembered us from our only other visit there in 2020. We talked a little hockey and travel. We were SO looking forward to a great dinner. It didn't disappoint! Pumpkin risotto was seasonal and beautifully presented. While traveling in Boston a coworker and I made reservations at Tresca. I knew I wanted to eat in the North End but I didn't want ti wait on a Saturday night. The bread and oil were delicious and I had to restrain myself so I'd have room for dinner. I also had a glass of Barbera red wine that was so good. For dinner I ordered the chicken Parmesan. The meal was massive, the chicken succulent and covered is gooey cheese. The pasta noodles were not my favorite and did not have that al dente bite you expect. That's really the only reason I'm giving three stars instead of four. I think the best thing about Tresca is the atmosphere. The chef is walking around and welcoming guests and making recommendations. And you can tell families have come here for years. If I came back I think I would try a different pasta. read more

We tried the bolognese nachos which were unique but I probably wouldn't get them again. Maybe if instead or tortillas they used thin sliced fried potatoes it would be a bit better. Came here over the weekend for valentines with my fiancé. Such a great experience. She was given a rose, which was a nice touch and the vibe was very romantic. The food is to die for. I had the Seafood Alfredo, which included lobster, shrimp, scallops and lobster ravioli. The lobster ravioli is a top 5 dish in all of Boston. It is so flavorful and a must when coming here to eat. My fiancé had the Chicken Piccata, which she said was one of the best she has had in a long time. We started with the chicken parm egg rolls that were fantastic and I recommend as an app. We ended with delicious Tiramisu and a creamy espresso martini, yummy! Our waiter was great and when we received our dishes, chef Richard came over to chat with us. Very friendly knowledgeable guy. Such a pleasant experience. Our group came here to get some great Italian Food. I opted just to drink as food prices were a little expensive for my budget. The wine that we got was great and the service was great as well. The food portions my friends received were enormous. To this day, Tresca is still one of my favorite restaurants in the North End! Every time I have dined here, I never leave disappointed. I have been coming here since I was 12 & celebrated a couple birthdays here. My favorite dishes to get from here include: linguini alle vongole, seafood fra diavolo, and spaghetti carbonara. Also, you have to try their antipasti arancini or farm raised Maine mussels OR BOTH... just amazinggg! Calamari fritta here is also chef's kiss! For non-pasta dishes, I enjoy their swordfish puttanesca & filetto (filet mignon with mushroom stuffed w/ lobster!). If you can't tell yet, I like just about everything they have on their menu. For desserts, you really cannot go wrong with any of them. I personally love tiramisu & their tiramisu hits the spot for me every time. Even when I am super stuffed at the end of the meal, I will always want dessert when at Tresca's. Parking: Parking in the North End is always atrocious haha. Either parking garage, valet, or try your luck with street parking. NOTE: They validate parking if you park at the Haymarket Garage, $3 for 3 hours ;) Definitely a must try if you're looking for a spot that serves incredible & authentic Italian food. read more

Going to Tresca was a mistake. The service was extremely slow, and the food was uninspired and unimpressive. We walked in and they were very busy which might explain why things were so off. We waited twenty minutes for drinks. It was just a glass of wine and a beer. The table next to us who were sat at the same time ordered their second drinks when ours were served. They brought us the wrong drinks to top things off. We ordered the carbonara and a pizza. The pasta was just ok. The pasta was overly sauced soupy as you can see in the picture. The pasta they use is quality, but it was overcooked. The pizza was very doughy and had very little sauce. After the first piece we stopped eating it. It takes a lot for me to write a review like this. I have a few hundred reviews with the vast majority being all five stars. They might have just had an off night but I will look elsewhere for my Italian in the north end. read more

The Truffled Cesar Salad was delicious. The arancinis were a little too fried for me. I liked the sauce though. The gnocchis were on the dense side. I had stopped in as part of Restaurant Week/Dine Out Boston. Everything I had was great, though; at the same time, I wouldn't call anything I ate a masterwork. Off the DoB menu, I ordered: - Anna Maria's Famous Stuffed Meatball - Parmesan Crusted Haddock Milanese - Tiramisu The bread served before the meal was terrific; it was fresh and airy, and the innards didn't turn to play dough at a squeeze. The stuffed meatball was very pleasant. The meat was ground, cooked, and seasoned nicely. Sometimes a little salt is all it takes. The tomato sauce and cheese topping were enjoyable too. I think the stuffing was fresh mozzarella, and it would have been nice if there was more. The Baked Haddock was all-around excellent! The fish was hot, fresh, and flaky and was also cooked and breaded to perfection. The real MVP is the sauce the fish was served with; it was creamy, savory, and with the perfect amount of sweetness. Sides for the fish was a perfectly dressed arugula salad and mashed potatoes. The Tiramisu was solid, well executed, and layered nicely. The flavors of espresso and rum were very subtle. Though I am not complaining, it worked overall. Similarly, no complaints about the espresso I ordered with the cake. The service was speedy and attentive, and the location was all-around clean. While everything was fine quality, I do not feel the food went above and beyond enough to have me aching for a return visit. read more

Oh my lordt! Probably one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to and the best Linguine Clams for sure. So much flavor in this dish. The serving portion is quite big too, with plenty of noodles. We started with the Chicken Parmesan Egg Rolls, which was such a great start to our dinner. The chicken parm was good by itself, but with the marinara it was even better! The complimentary bread was fresh and delicious. Just wished it had arrived at the begging of the meal, rather than when we were nearly done with our main courses. Had a Sandy Says cocktail drink and it they weren't stingy with the alcohol either. Service was fast and friendly. We were seated at a table upstairs. Booked the reservation online and was lucky to get a reservation same day during prime time dinner hour on a Saturday night. Overall a very nice experience, elevated food service with freshly made menu selections. Location, food, service and ambience combined were all good such that I would come back and dine here again. Appetizer: stuffed meatballs - came with two meatballs, a small spoonful of ricotta and toasted bread slice on the side. The meatballs tasted pretty good and texture was perfect. They were a bit small and hardly had any stuffing considering the size. I felt they were expensive for the portion received. Dinner: We ordered the house veal chop special which they offer prepared three ways. Our server said the most popular way it's ordered is parmigiana style so I went for it even though it is a common dish. What sold me on it is their prep - they cut a thick chop in half keeping it in tact fresh on the bone, pound the meat thin, bread, and cook parm style. I've never had veal parmigiana so fresh and so large - it was great. The portion is fit for a king. It's one of the highest priced entrees on the menu but you get your moneys worth and then some. It also came with a side of fresh fettuccine with their bolognese which was pretty good as well for a side. Dessert: we ordered the warm Italian donut holes served with vanilla gelato and honey decorated on the plate. Nice presentation and oh that honey! Honey tasted different, better than what you normally find in stores. Lots of restaurants to choose from in North End, but this one is worth coming back to. read more

I am never one to leave reviews but I wanted to after my first visit to this establishment last night. The food and beverages were amazing but the service has turned me off and I don't know if I would ever return. I had a made a reservation on open table and was running late and couldn't adjust it. My friend arrived before me and told me she was seated upstairs. When I arrived I was making my way upstairs and was asked by staff where I was going. I explained my friend was already seated upstairs. They would not let me go upstairs for some reason until seeing I had a reservation and I explained probably five times that my friend was already seated upstairs and then I was followed. That was very off putting and uncomfortable. Finally it was hard to enjoy the evening with my friend because we were interrupted constantly by four different servers. I appreciated the attentiveness but this was excessive. And then near the end of the night I was asked if I was ready for a box by four or five staff in a five minute window. This made me feel like I was being pushed out of the establishment. The food was phenomenal but I really doubt I will come back after this experience. read more

This was our first time visiting Boston and we were looking forward to a special occasion, romantic dinner. I did extensive research to find the perfect Italian restaurant in the North End and made a reservation at Tresca. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived, we were taken upstairs to a large dining room with zero ambiance. It was also very hot up there in August. They had the windows open, but no AC on and it was uncomfortably warm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The first floor is much more quaint, what I saw in the pictures online and what I had envisioned.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in the farthest back corner in a tiny two-person table between two other tables of the same with guests next to us on either side. Most of the other tables in the room were open.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked the Manager who was standing nearby if we could be moved to an open window table. Instead of addressing us himself, he had the hostess come tell us that someone had requested that window table. Okay, I get it, but the manager never came back to check on us and the hostess never offered us another table. Very poor customer service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The table we were seated at was uncomfortably small and cramped. It was apparent that they were just cramming customers in and were not concerned about their comfort level or personal space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We tried to make the best of it and enjoy our dinner, but lo and behold, the people seated next to us started arguing about their political differences of opinion in the middle of our dinner. They were so close that it was very difficult to tune them out. So much for our romantic dinner![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This restaurant is pricey so spending $$$ for a nice dinner and having a terrible dinning experience is very disappointing and far outweighed the good food. read more

The food and services here are top notch. I had the chicken piccata which was honestly, the best I have had. My husband - meat & potato man - had a filet and raved about the demi glaze (which he would have typically passed on) and the potatoes. For me, the Lemontini martini was perfection! However, when I saw a plate of eggplant pass by I felt I had no other option than to give the eggplant "the test". It passed with flying colors. It was beyond plentiful. Came here for dine out Boston, which was cool because I don't think I would have gone to this restaurant if it wasn't on dine out Boston's list. The food and drinks here were pretty good, but I felt the menu items really varied for dine out Boston and every 3 course meal was $46 no matter what entree you had. I had the Bolognese, which was good, but I thought the serving size was really small compared to other entrees. My friend had the steak and it was a much larger portion and I felt more worth the $46 than the pasta. I also had the rice balls for an app, which I found ok. Came here last week for my husband's birthday before an improv comedy show across the street. Ambiance: moderate upscale, lively and busy on a Friday night. Reservations needed at least for a weekend. Service: 5/5 very attentive staff! We did not get to talk to the chef or manager but he was making rounds to tables! Food: (4-4.5/5) I would say the best part of our meal were the lamb chops and lobster ravioli! The lamb chop lollipops surprisingly had a lot of meat and were flavorful and well cooked. The lobster ravioli was perfectly creamy but not too heavy. The meatballs were hefty but definitely unique/yummy and we had ordered them as a result of the reviews. We weren't too crazy about the chicken Parmesan rolls only because the crust was thick and kind of overshadowed the chicken parm part. The Negronis we had were spot on. An amazing dining experience! The most romantic table in Boston to have dinner is Table 77 on the balcony of Tresca's Restaurant overlooking the hustle and bustle of Hanover Street in Boston' North End. When you reserve this table it requires several months advanced notice. Prime summer weekend nights might require that you make your reservation in January. It also requires a $200 prepayment in gift cards that you can use to pay for your dinner. Our dinner with tip came to $250. The ambiance is incredible and well worth the effort and cost. The service was incredible. Highlighted by a few personal visits from Richard Anzara the restaurant's Chef and owner. He greeted us and answered our questions about the menu. He recommended the signature dish, Veal Chop a la Bourque (named after the restaurant's co-owner and Boston hockey legend, Ray Bourque). It is a massive bone in veal chop 24 +/-oz.) pounded out thin and tender and topped with a delicious tomato sauce and smothered in melted cheese. It was the best veal Parmigiana I have ever had. It could easily serve two. The Chef said sharing the dish is okay but he would suggest ordering appetizers and a salad and plan on enjoying a dessert. The appetizer we shared was the lobster stuffed mushroom caps. Tiny pieces of lobster served in a buttery bread crumb stuffing and topped with a Hollandaise sauce. It was to die for. Wine prices start at $50 a bottle for the house Chianti. For locals this should be on your bucket list. If you're visiting and can plan enough in advance, reserve table 77 and you won't be disappointed. Regardless of where you sit there is not a better Italian restaurant in Boston. Went here for my Anniversary last night, was happy with my experience! The wait staff were amazing, very friendly and the service was quick. The restaurant itself was clean, but be careful because the floors upstairs were extremely slippery for some reason... The food was good. The calamari was chewy, but the flavor was great. The pasta dish I got was okay, a little bland and the pasta was overcooked. If you're looking for a good, quick and reasonably priced restaurant in the North end this is the place! read more
