I am very picky about my bikes; the folks at the shop worked with me every step of the way to get this upgrade done to my complete satisfaction! My wife and I love coming to the Trek store in Newark Delaware. The customer service we received here every time we come is exceptional. This last experience we've had with the delivery of our bicycles and the set up of our trainers at our house awas exceptional. Rich, Derek, and Gordon, went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Again I cannot say enough how exceptional customer service was. The attention to Care, detail, personal experience, and the listening skills of the gentleman at the Trek store really make all the difference in the experience. I provided the requested deposit for a bike and was told to wait 4 months for delivery. I was more than willing to pay for the bike in full when i ordered it. I call 4 mos. later to inquire about my bike because no one had contacted me, I was told the bike was cancelled, they did not know why, and the manager would call me back. I decide to call Trek and was told the bike shop did not pay them for the bike so they did not ship it. Trek told me the bike I want is now a 12 mo. wait. a business day later, no call back from the manager, so I call. I will not recommend because: 1) i don't trust the solvency of the business--they hold on to my $1000 deposit for 4 mos and i presume earn interest or invest that money in their business 2) poor administrative oversight over their product sales process--apparently, they have a flawed system, no system, or lazy managers who miss paying for the bikes they order, or to check if there is a cancellation of a bike. Apparently, they did not pay Trek for the bike so why would they! 3) poor communication with customers & Trek. If I hadn't called, 4 more months later would they even have checked to see if they had any outstanding bikes. Seems to me like the focus is on getting your money and selling bike accessories. They took my money earned interest on it, and did nothing to track and get the product to me. Of note, they could not locate the bike i ordered at any regional trek shop. I have no idea if they did a national search. Perhaps if they would have known sooner, they could have found one elsewhere. --i'll never do business with them again. read more

Didn't purchase anything here, but the staff were still super friendly even though they knew i didn't intend on purchasing anything. I forget the gentleman's name who I spoke to, but since I'm not from the area, he was able to give me information about all the best local trails. The store seemed competitively priced and they had a huge selection of bikes, and a decent selection of accessories, and a good selection of clothes and shoes. They also rent a lot of really nice bikes! 100$ per day but if you decide to but, the cost of the rental comes off the price. read more

I came in to get a single tire fixed. Not only did who was helping me on the phone get the price wrong and get my hopes up in the store. The guy trying to help me in the store was bound to get me to spend as much as a I could. I tell him the second I walk in I didn't have a ton of money. He's trying to fix my entire bike even though I didn't request that. And I was almost certain I would get a $50 discount from an associate then boom that's turned down by the guy that's trying to do all this work on my bike for no reason. Prices are already crazy enough there then I've got this guy trying to beef up how much I've got to spend from the point I walked in. I already told them I didn't have a lot at the moment. read more

Poor customer service. I was looking to purchase an all-around bicycle. I told the representative I wanted a casual bike within a certain price range. He did not point us in the right direction. He failed to continue helping us. After receiving a list of demands from the customer I feel like the employee should have begun the "hard sell." That did not happen. read more

I've had good experiences with this bike shop. I've bought accessories here, as well as had both routine maintenance and repairs done here, and I've had them service two different bikes. It's not as cheap as they go, but the prices are reasonable. The people are very friendly, and I've never had trouble setting up an appointment. Furthermore, they are quick at servicing the bikes. There is a good selection of accessories, and this store tends to stock pretty high-quality stuff. I'm not a big fan of the selection of bikes. This place mostly stocks Trek bikes; I've never owned a Trek and frankly, after riding them, I'm not a big fan of the brand--also most of their bikes are made in China. On the high end I think this place would do better to stock Cannondales--they're made in the US and frankly, I think better value for your money relative to Trek? Or just buy something good used? I also am not a big fan of any bike shop that specializes in one brand--I think it's valuable and important to compare and ride different brands when purchasing a bike. So bottom line, great place to go for accessories or bike service. Not great place to buy a bike. read more

The staff here was very helpful and the bikes are great! I was looking for a cruiser with gears, and they had a great value. They even put all my accessories on for me and helped me and my boyfriend get the bike into the car - when they totally didn't have to. They have a no pressure sales tactic that really helps you to feel comfortable. I really appreciated all of their help and can certainly recommend them for quality bike service. read more

Brought my kids Unicycle in for a repair. These guys were super friendly and helpful with an odd request. It cost next to nothing to get us up and running again. I came in here for the first time with a beat up bike I bought off of Craigslist to get it checked out and make sure it was safe. A nice young man working there greeted me right away, brought in my bike, checked it out thoroughly, and charged me a very good price! I am very happy with the service and the care he took. I also needed a refresher on some riding/bicycle details, and he was happy to help and didn't even laugh at me! So, I've only been there once, but from my perspective, wow! They did a great job and I wouldn't hesitate to take another bike there or recommend them to anyone else! They also sell stuff, but I didn't look at that too much. I've driven by this bike line location many times on my way to the great mountain biking and trail riding in the surrounding area, being from out of state I've never needed to stop here but recently while getting ready to ride nearby I discovered that my bike dropped a nut and bolt that made my trek mountain bike impossible to ride. My riding buddy suggested I drive over and try and get the bike fixed. When I arrived, I was greeted instantly and my bike was repaired and even tuned in about 10 minutes. Amazing professional service and very friendly. Hats off to Howard and Paul there, they really helped me out and I still had enough time to have a great ride at nearby white clay park. read more

I brought in my bike, which had mysteriously stopped shifting gears midway during an 80-mile, very hilly day of riding. With no appointment, the service department graciously finished up the current task they were on and took a look at my bike's issue. Within 10 minutes my bike was in better shape than when I had started the day, shifting through all the gears with precision. And the gentleman preforming the work was even kind enough to explain what was wrong and how he corrected it, in case I had a similar breakdown in my riding future. He even performed a clean-and-lube of my chain, without being asked. The bike performed flawlessly for the final 150-miles of the riding over the next couple of days of the tour I was on thanks to the quick analysis and fix of the Service Dept. Thanks guys! read more

They raised their rental prices from $20 to $70 for a mountain bike rental. That's way too much for a college student to take out a bike for a study break, totally ruined the day for my girlfriend and I. That combined with their already high retail prices means I'll never go back in there. I had very limited knowledge and exposure to the world of cycling. I initially went in to get a helmet so I would be safe riding my $15.00 yard sale mountain bike I had recently purchased. They were very understanding and helpful, were not condescending and did not talk down to me, even though I wasn't a "bike" person. I returned a few months later just to "look" at road bikes, and made it perfectly clear I had no intentions of purchasing a bike that day. Paul still spent 45 minutes with me, sized me for a Scott CR1 20 bike, let me take it for a test drive, and answered all of my questions, without once trying to up-sell me, or even push the bike on me. He even suggested I check out other bike shops that carry different brands, and wrote down a list of brands they didn't carry but I might be interested in. I went home and checked the price against the internet, and BIkeline Newark was offering this bike at $300.00 lower than any eBay auctions, and close to $500.00 lower than what I could find the exact same model on Amazon or any other retailer, so I returned the next day and purchased it. Paul helped me again, and yet again, did not attempt to up-sell me and even talked me out of buying some things he felt that I didn't need right away, advising me to ride the bike for awhile, get used to it, and see if I really would want to buy additional accessories at a later date. I have since returned to get the clip-in shoes and pedals and a few other things, and as always, the staff was very understanding, answered all of my questions, and didn't attempt to sell me anything I didn't need. I highly recommend this shop for anyone who is unsure of what they want in a bike, and afraid of the many options out there. Do not use this bike shop if you are in the market for a new bike, especially around sale time. I purchased a high end Trek MB, a few years ago. Started riding seriously this year only to be told by my Mountain bike coach and 3 other pros that the bike is way too small. When I bought the bike, I knew nothing. The guy who sold it to me took about 5 seconds to size me up visually. I now believe that his main motivation was to get the bike off the sales room floor. When I wrote in a complaint and then called to follow up, the moron of a manager reacted very angrily and basically told me to sell it and get a bigger bike if I think its the wrong size. When I spoke to somebody in their corporate office, then stated that they cannot do anything because the bike is more than 30 days old. It is totally unacceptable for a bike shop to sell bikes that are not the correct frame size. I think most cyclists would agree. I also think that an ethically sound retailer would make good on any mistakes either intentional or thru ignorance they had made regardless of how old the purchase was, especially considering it was a $2200 bike. Bike line could have offered to reframe the bike at their expense. This would have been sufficient for me. They were totally uninterested and disrespectful of my situation. I've had nothing but great experiences with the Newark Bike Line. I've purchased many items at this shop, as well as stopped by to fill my tires and have always been given a warm welcome. My last experience at this shop was by far the best and it was all thanks to staff member Paul. Not only did Paul assist in bringing my bike into the shop, but he immediately identified the issues I was having with my bike and repaired it on the spot. I can't say enough about these guys! They are extremely qualified and very reasonable with prices! You really feel like they are giving you what you want/need and not trying to sell additional things just to make more money. I went in the other day since my handlebars were loose and really just messed up. After telling them what was wrong they took it, screwed a couple things tighter, and gave me an extra piece to keep it straight and didn't charge me for anything! Sure it didn't take much time or money for them to fix it but they easily could have charged me since I really had no other options. Highly recommended!! read more
