I don't normally bad write reviews when something bad happens with a business, I'll deal with them directly, but this warrants one. I cannot recommend this place as several times I did business with them over the years and it's been some drama. I had to contact the owner on several occasions. Once my bike was kept for almost a month to only be told they couldn't order parts. Another time, parts were installed, but the wrong parts installed and I had to go back after the bike was kept for a month (they are the only bike shop in the area). My last draw was when I stopped in to purchase an item, and 4 people at the location, no customers and they refused to help me nor look up my TREK credit card, which coincidentally I got from them! They didn't offer to hold the $160 pump, instead talked down to me and refused to help me. They were so unprofessional and what was more annoying I felt discriminated against since I was an African American and no one bothered to assist me at all. Oddly when I contacted the owner, even he didn't offer any assistance, didn't ask me to come in to purchase the pump...nothing. Therefore I cannot recommend them at all and would say find someplace else. read more

When I first came to this business I was looking for a stem but. The person helping me advise that they could not guarantee a perfect fit of a stem nut without replacing the whole stem. I asked him how much it would be it would be around $11; so I decided to let them fix my bike. They were talking about doing all kinds of other repairs to the bike. I told him that I normally work on my bike at Newark bike Project. But all I really need it was the but The young man came back with an estimate of $44; when I asked him why so much. Young man advised that it was a $25 fee to work on the bike. I was told at the time that I could not buy the stem myself. Honestly, with everything going on I decide to let them work on my bike. fast forward a month later; I finally stop by the shop after calling several times to check on the status of my bike. Young man advise that they didn't work on my bike due to the rust. And that's a new estimate was well over $200. I told him of the whole conversation as to just replace the stem. He told me he wasn't involved in that. No manager from the store came out to speak to me; Because I did wait around. I will never bring my bike here again read more

This was resolved to my satisfaction. It got worse before it got better. A mistake was made by the MFG and I had to make a second trip there, but it worked out well in the end and the owner and staff were great. Will shop there again I'm sure. read more

The person I've dealt with, Tim Robertson, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in choosing the right products for me and my family. The Trek bikes and the Thule rack are also both great products. I had an excellent experience at Bike Line. On Sunday, 7/23 I rode my bike from West Chester, PA to Jellyfish Joel's in Chestertown. As I crossed the Summit Bridge I experienced a major spoke break on the much-used rear wheel - with 45 miles to go. I limped into MIddletown on a very wobbly wheel about noon. Luke and Ryan and the rest of the staff were sympathetic to my plight. And in a stroke of luck had a Mavic, Open Pro wheel in stock. In a little less than an hour, they made a full swap and I was on my way. They let me use the bathroom, fill my bottles and gave me a nice place to sit while I waited. Very professional and courteous. It is a experience I will probably tell often. Thanks Bike Line. I should note that a fellow rider experienced a similar fate several years ago in Delaware City. We limped in to a competitor's shop in Newark, DE (think wheels that are made of a renewable resource). The shop was empty on a Sunday morning and we were told that we would need an appointment. All we asked was that they sell us a spoke and pull the casette to we could engineer a fix to get us home safely. I wrote a review about that as well. read more

Bikeline in Middletown,DE Terrible place to bring any bike. Their service is over priced, and so are the parts they sell. I brought my bike in just to get a few decisions on some new crank sets for it. The guy I brought the bike in to overlook it wasn't there so I opted to allow them to do their 60 dollar tune up which comes down to pumping your tires full of air and cleaning your bike off and oiling your chain. No shock testing/service or anything really important that you can't do yourself. I told the guy at the desk to have the guy give me a call to give me some ideas on cranks I might be interested in. Something that would have taken really less than 15minutes to do. 2 Weeks they held my bike and never called me. Finally on the day my bike was due to be returned to me I call in and ask them is it ready. Guess what!? They didn't even work on it yet, they hadn't even looked at it. Half a month and on the due date they hadn't even gotten to it or bothered to call me. So what do they do? They throw my bike on a stand and glance at it then call me up telling me it needs a bunch of expensive new parts that it doesn't. I decided to go pick my bike up assuming that they performed the 60 dollar maintenance on it only to find out nothing at all had been done to the bike. Two weeks same dirt,same flat tires, not a single thing was done. I'm quite sure the workers saw the disgust on my face as there was a eerie silence in the place like they knew they had done something wrong. Not wanting to vent and be civilized I just took my bike and left the place. All these people did was waste my time and try to rip me off...avoid like the plague! read more

First off, their mailing address is 486-488. If you want to map them use "500" instead for greater accuracy. Normally I only use Yelp for restaurants, who cares if you like your local Safeway, but a recent, useless, broadcast message from yelp pushing bike places inspired me to write this review. My wife and I purchased two Trek Pure Deluxe bikes and a Trek child trailer from here this past April. We were going to go to the Newark store, which is arguably closer to us, but we were driving by this store that day and thought we'd take a look. We were so impressed with Chris Zorger (store manager) that we decided to buy here. I had a rough idea of what I wanted and Chris was able to focus on our requirements and help us to try out the products we were interested in and gave some input and guidance on alternatives. I'm sure buying so much didn't hurt either. On a follow-up visit I saw one of the other employees helping a customer and provided the same level of care. At no time did I see or experience any unnecessary sales pressure or excessive attempts to close out a sale. Making sure you get what fits your individual needs is paramount to their approach. If you are looking for someone who can help you, and understand you needs, and not just sell you something this is the place to go. read more
