I really noticed the BIG improvement in our rides after I bought my then 7-year old daughter a quality Specialized hybrid bike, to switch out her Schwinn cruiser she'd been riding, which she'd outgrown. The associate at Action Wheels assisted us to show how to ensure the best fit for her size, and she fell in love with the beautiful purple color. The bike was lightweight and easy to transport. We threw in a matching helmet and she felt like the belle of the ball! From that day, we were able to take 10+ mile rides for the first time, and it was a whole game changer for us! Great service. Brought in an older bike wheel that needed a new freewheel. That had the freewheel in stock at a very good price. I then asked if they had the tool to remove and replace the freewheel. That was not in stock. However, he then suggested instead of buying a $15 tool, he could just replace it for me for $8. He took the wheel in the back and 15-20 minutes later, it was done. My bike was stolen back in November and I started the process of finding a new one in a very tough market. Supply chain issues everywhere. After hitting several bike shops around the area my neighbor suggested checking out Action Wheels. He said it was a "mom and pop" shop with a great selection of bikes. I narrowed my selection down and ultimately chose the bike because of the bike shop. Patty and Jim aren't "mom and pop", they brother and sister. They have a ton of knowledge and have been in business for years. They sized me up and were able to get me on a bike a few weeks after ordering. The staff has been awesome too. I changed sizes from my previous bike and didn't feel comfortable on the bike right away. I brought it back after my first ride and Jim and the other mechanics made some adjustments. Jim said, "We will keep working with you until you are 100% comfortable on the bike". It only took the one trip. I feel great on the bike and the trip back to the store allowed me to shop through the large selection of gear again. When I first got into mountain biking many years ago, I had no idea what a quality bike actually was. I had ridden the mainstream, big-box store bikes from Wal-Mart and the like but they always....well sucked. I visited other boutique bike shops in the area and the sales people were pushy. If I wasn't going to spend serious cash, they didn't want to waste their time with me. I've worked high-end retail for many years in the past, so I know what a quality store should be. I know what a positive atmosphere, with knowledgable and caring staff should be. That's what Action Wheels is. When I first walked into AW I was quickly greeted but not "smothered" by any staff. That's the first positive sign of a good store. They let you browse, take in the atmosphere, feel comfortable. After a few minutes of looking confused (and overwhelmed) an employee walked over and asked if I needed help. Even though I was a newbie, with repetitive questions, my questions were all answered with sincerity and experience. I was actually talked out of buying TOO much stuff. "Ride this for a while, see how you like it, then upgrade." Second sign of a damn good store! Finally, when I was sure I found the bike for me Patty (the owner but I didn't know this at the time) just asked "Hey should we put a bow on it?" The deal was sealed and I rode off into the sunset on my first REAL bike, not a bike shaped object! ;) Little did I know I'd be putting a bow on 3 other bikes form the same amazing crew at Action Wheels in the years since I first walked in. I used to go to this shop all the time for my biking needs. They carried diamondback, cannondale, specialized, and a few other great brands. I went back after being away from cycling for a few years to find that they now carry only specialized mtb's and I think they carry one or two other ultra high end road bikes. The store is very clean and super fancy but there was very little variety of product, it was like being in a specialized display booth. I was so saddened by the "new" action wheels. The staff was always fantastic, and I imagine they remain so, but a staff can only do so much with one brand and limited accessories. I hope that the ownership can start to return to the Action Wheels of old, and I would gladly give them another look. read more

They only carry Specialized brand bikes, which I found disappointing. However, the staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable. A great place to bring your bike to get maintenance. They have fair prices on parts and labor and finish the work quickly. Like any specialized store, there is quite a markup on accessories and clothing. Best bike shop there is. My boyfriend and I were totally new to (road) cycling and the owner Jim along with the rest of the staff made sure we were educated on what we were buying, and never never once pressured us into anything. He took the time (5 hours) to make sure we were completely happy and confident in our purchase, and we definitely are! We went back about 2 weeks later for a tune up (my boyfriend forgot to clip out and took a tumble, knocking a few things out of place) and they fixed it for free, and quickly. Bottom line: A+ customer service, excellent product stocking/selection (all specialized), and I highly recommend stopping in if you're going in for your first bike, or have been riding for years. read more

But what I will say is that between Scott ,Patty and Jim they were certainly a friendly shop' They only sell Specialized bikes so they had a large selection to show us. When I asked about higher end bikes ( S-works) I was told it was not necessary. No oversell!! We spent 2 hours selecting the appropriate models and came back for fittings that took over an hour. In addition they include a year's service. Only issue is Patty leads a Saturday morning ride that's too fast for us but you never can tell. On one of the early days of full opening, I came in to Action Wheels with nothing more than my favorite MTB frame from the 90s. I had illusions of grandeur with regard to making my favorite frame the bike that I remembered from my trail riding days. I am not a Jersian, but hoped to find some trails here for distraction during frequent visits. Joe listened intently to this unusual story; advised about the prognosis for my Fisher frame; listed several trails in So. Jersey; and suggested the Fisher could come back and be my Jersey bike. I wanted him to spare no expense to make this vision come true. Within a week, AW not only delivered with new everything on my frame, but also rolled out a cute, fast trail beast at a great price and in a week! When I found the nearby trail that Joe recommended, the creaky fisher frame performed like a youngster. And I followed. It was great. For a sweet deal, I found a great new reason to enjoy So. These guys are awesome. Had my bike serviced here three time and never got condescended or snookered to getting expensive upgrades. I've been wanting to get a bike for several years. I finally pulled the trigger recently. My research led me to Specialized bikes. There is a dearth of bike shops around me. Expanding my range, I found this shop. I like their web site, so I took a ride up. It is a Specialized shop, there is no doubt about that. But since that is what I wanted, it is right up my alley. The staff is friendly and helpful. I don't think there are any bargains here, but the gear is good. I have been happy with my purchases here. Buying from a LBS, of course, gets one the service. I am liking that. They even helped me out with my GPS mount, which I purchased elsewhere. So far, I am happy with Action Wheels. I haven't gone on any rides with them yet, but hope to at some point. I like that they have beginner classes for riders too. The store has had plenty of help on hand each time I have been in. Of course, there's been plenty of customers too. I haven't purchased a bike in 15 years and I've decided to start riding recreationally for exercise and with my toddler. I visited one of the local bike shops close to me in Cherry Hill and I was trying to be "sold." I'm in sales so I know when someone doesn't want you to leave without buying regardless of if your needs and wants are met. The next day I found Action and met the owner Jim... One of the best buying experiences ever! After listening to what I wanted the bike for, Jim did not try to upsell me by pushing me towards the higher level models or colors I didn't care for, he just showed me bikes that fit my criteria, budget and I made the purchase! I was looking for a Specialized multi-purpose and they are the place! Jim even apologized that Action is a little farther than my local shops, but I tell you what, with that kind of service I'd drive from NYC to do business with Action Wheels. The other shop even tried to sell me a "service plan" for tune-ups and tune-ups are free at Action. It honestly pains me to give Action Wheels only 4 stars, because this bike shop wholly deserves 5 stars. I've been to several area bike shops from 2009 to the present, and while I've had positive experiences at all of them, none compare to Action Wheels. Their staff is the most personable I've ever met, supremely knowledgeable, and the quality of their service work is impeccable. They're virtually everything you would want in a local bike shop and more. I still have the hybrid bicycle I bought from them in 2009 and it's even more fun to ride now. So why only 4 stars? They only carry Specialized brand bicycles. While Specialized makes some of the finest machines on the road to suit any rider, be they road, mountain, commuter/urban, BMX, and everything in between, and I see why they have a narrow brand focus, it would be nice if they offered even just one other brand so riders can compare and contrast. I'm looking to get a new bike and while I want to stay 100% loyal to the best shop, I will be exploring other shops to try out other brands of bicycles because another brand's machine might flow with me better than Specialized. With bikes, you never know till you swing a leg over one and like with dating, you have to try a bunch before you find your one. And if I do go with another brand like Felt or Bianchi for my next weapon, I definitely plan to use Action Wheels exclusively for parts and service (because they're the best), but will still have that twinge of guilt that I didn't give them the big sale because they deserve it. So if the singular brand focus is not a dealbreaker for you, then you'd be hard-pressed to find a better bike shop than Action Wheels. I encourage any rider of any level to check the store out, because their staff is tops. read more

Since moving to South Jersey in 2006, I have spent the last 6 years cultivating a relationship with Action Wheels. First, I was a customer for simple parts and service and with time I have purchased a number of bikes and accessories and have become a regular at the shop. The initial draw to Action Wheels was the frequent and well organized group rides which occur Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays during the regular riding season and Saturdays and Sundays during the winter. These rides created a cycling community for me and offered me the opportunity to meet and socialize with local cyclists and the staff from Action Wheels. Once I new the staff at Action Wheels, I was far more comfortable with the advice and technical know-how that they provide. In a time when it is very easy to click around on the Internet and find good deals on cycling-related products, I for one am more dedicated to shopping at an LBS that knows me, not only to support a local business but to support my local cycling community. My husband and I have been thinking about buying bikes for a while, and Action Wheels was recommended to us by a friend. We visited once with the intention to just learn about the bikes, and Jim was incredibly helpful. He spent about 20 minutes teaching us about the different types of bikes, and showing us the differences in models- all without being pushy or urging us to buy that day. We came back a week later and purchased our bikes and some accessories- and again it was a great experience!!
