From start to finish, my visit to Mr. Bill's was wonderful. First, I was welcomed by a beautiful, friendly golden doodle at the door. Who doesn't love a furry friend?! I had brought my tire in to be replaced/fixed due to a flat I had for weeks. I was politely asked whether or not I'd like to wait, it would take less than 10 minutes to repair. I started out as a kid in the mid eighties bugging Mr Bill on a regular basis about bmx and skate board parts. I grew up, got a job, and purchased my first mountain bike from him around 1997. (He and his staff still maintain said bike today!) And just last week I bought my twin boys they're first mountain bike's for their 7th birthday. Bill and Dave fit them up with the perfect bikes, adjusted them individually, and set my boys off on a path that will hopefully have them enjoying biking for the rest of their lives. I had researched a bike rack for my car. Turned into a search for a unicorn. Called Mr. Bill's as they were listed as a vendor for the brand and lo and behold he had the one I wanted in stock. When I went to pick it up he was all ready to install it onto my car. He explained he always installs racks. I didn't need it on my car until next week and he showed me a few inside tips for a solid installation. Told me to just come over if I had any issues at all. And I will, thanks. They were super nice and explained everything I would ever need to know about what type of bike I wanted what my price range should be and what good brands are. All and all they were too much for my budget but for the quality of bike I was getting I could readily understand why that was the case. Went to Mr. Bill's to shop for a bike for my wife on a Saturday afternoon, Even though there were several other shoppers in the store Bill took the time to have my wife test ride 3 different bikes, explaining the differences in them and even lent me a bike to ride along with my wife. Stopped in with my Jamis Explorer 2 with a broken rear spoke on Palmyra Day. Mr Bill checked it out and replaced it. Whlle working on it he noticed I had a few other spokes replaced. Told me they would probably continue to do so. Just before getting home another spoke broke! So.... I took it in and asked about my options. He told me I could put a new rim on just like what I have or get rim re-spoked with good old USA made spokes for a little more money. I went into the store an hour before closing to look for a used bike for my son. They had a nice looking 20" Haro, a well made bicycle on the floor with no price tag on it. When I inquired about the price, the store owner mumbled from across the shop with attitude that the price was on the tag. There was no price on the tag so I responded with my own attitude, that it must have written in invisible ink. Ok, so the lady worker there does damage control and says the bike was $150. So if you know me, you ke2now I'm a heck of a nice guy until you press my "Go" button, and this a-hole just found it. But, I need a bike for my son, so I ask when could it be ready for pick up? Once again, the guy, I guess none other than Bill himself, says, "I don't know". He doesn't know!? I pulled the wad of cash out and waved it in the air, "I'm trying to buy a bike here.." The a-hole disappears in back never to reappear. The woman (poor soul) apologized for the situation, as I turned and left. What Bill didn't know was I was also buying a bike for my wife and me, but never got that far. I don't know what crawled up Mr. Bill's butt, but it lost him close to $900 in sales.
