On the second day of a three day biking trip on the D&L trail, a stick was thrown by another…read morebiker's tire on the trail. It flew into my rear tire and derailleur and jammed both. I rode back to the Pocono Mountain bike shop in Jim Thorpe, which was close to the trail. It was 5 minutes before they closed. They did not have a mechanic and recommended calling LOC. I called LOC the next morning. Cindy said to bring the bike in right away. I did and their mechanic Bill said it would take some time to fix. I explained that this was the last day of my trip. He said no problem. Bill arranged for a loaner and got us on the trail in under an hour. We brought the loaner back later that day. My bike was fixed and we managed to get in a nice pedal on the trail. This is a terrific bike shop. They were very nice and knowledgeable people. The shop had lots of parts on hand. Dealing with LOC was a good experience all around given how that silly stick could have seriously messed up our plans. Thank you LOC for all your amazing support and help!

When we arrived, we were warmly greeted, given our paperwork, walked through our choice of bikes, and given both a map and a very thorough overview of the recommended bike route to take - each staff person we spoke with seemed friendlier than the last! My family of four took bikes out along the D&L Trail from Lehighton to Mauch Chunk, enjoying the scenery, the camaraderie, and some laughs, all while well-equipped from LOC. The Center itself is chock full of new sturdy Specializeds for your riding needs - both mountain bikes and cruisers. The facilities were also equipped with commodious bathrooms/changing facilities not only for cyclists, but for the Jim Thorpe River Adventures and Northeast PA Kayak School that share the building. We paid $140 for our rentals - four bikes, two helmets (and four bottles of water) for six hours. Well worth it for a great riding tour. Recommended!

I've taken my bike here on several occasions to get it tuned up, fixed, or for whatever cycling accoutrement I might need. The service has always been speedy and efficient. There has only been one time that I've had to bring my bike back there to fix a problem a second time. What happened was that I my front tire went flat for some reason that I wasn't aware of. I brought it in, and they replaced the tube. I went out, rode it, and the tire wen flat again. Long story short, they overlooked a tiny sliver of metal that was jabbing into the tube. Thankfully, though, they removed the shard and the inner tube at no extra charge. While they have great service, they also have a really nice selection of equipment. They carry just about every style of bike that would make sense. They also have nice selection of just about everything you need for your bike. The selection of goods isn't the thing that makes it good. The service is what makes this place great.

I was recently in the market for a carbon road bike. I was pretty weary from visiting one bike shop after another that only carried Trek bikes, or had limited bikes in stock, or had terrible customer service. But I decided to try one more dealer, Tailwind, because I saw that they carried Scott and Jamis bikes, two bikes that I hadn't tried yet. When I entered the shop, I was immediately greeted by a salesperson, who showed me around and explained their selection. After asking me a few questions, he introduced me to Chad, who showed me the custom made Cinelli Pro Estrada. What a gorgeous bike. So much prettier than the Trek bikes I rode. I took the Cinelli for a test ride around the streets of Schwenksville. For the most part, the surrounding streets are safe for test rides, although I had to cross busy Rt. 29. The area is very hilly, if you like to test out a bike on hills. The shop is also adjacent to the Perkiomen Trail, if you prefer to test a bike on flat terrain. I loved the Cinelli, and at the sale price, it was right in my price range. Once Chad threw in a free bike fitting, I couldn't resist. I had to endure a lot of shopping to get to this point, but in the end I got a lot more bike for my money than I would have gotten anywhere else. They weren't yet available at the time I was shopping, but Tailwind has since added Pinarello bikes to their selection. Pinarello is another brand that was high on my list, and I haven't seen it offered anywhere else. As a follow-up note, I was having some shifting issues with the Cinelli, but I brought it back to the shop, explained the problem, and the owner, Joe, corrected the problem within a few minutes, free of charge. Joe also fitted me to my bike, and now I am one happy rider.

This store says they'll service any bike but I found out that was not true after I went through some trouble to bring it in after being told I could only to be treated like I did something wrong with a very bad attitude from the manager there named Jeff when i got there. I was really surprised to be treated that way by him since I stopped in the store ahead of time and clearly explained the kind of ebike I had and the repair needed just to make sure it was okay and was told it was by him. I just needed a crank arm replaced and Jeff told me they would do that no problem... until I got there. The mechanics there were very nice and helpful! They loved my ebike and were eager to help me but Jeff was not having it citing "liability reasons" because my bike is "too fast". What a strange excuse considering the crank on this ebike is not connected to the motor in any way which was clearly explained and even demonstrated in front of him. The bike is over 200 lbs so it cannot ever be pedaled as fast as a regular bike making the "too fast" excuse a really bad one. Jeff wouldn't even wait for me to put my riding gear back on before he was wheeling my ebike out of the store. My wife who followed me over and was waiting in the car asked me "what was that guy's problem?" Just from the wry look on his face as he wheeled my bike out. What a complete waste of time! After calling The Velo Shop and Perkiomen Bicycles they were both willing to help with no surprises so it was just bad luck bringing my ebike to a bad place.
