This is a review for both the cycle shop and Pedro's cafe. The shop is clean and the people are friendly. I've asked so many questions and they're always so nice. The cafe is super cute and cozy. I love the ambiance and the staff are nice and helpful. They also have a partnership where they sell vegan donuts from circle donuts in Bethlehem and they're so good. Amazing sales and service! I was looking for a bike in the midst of COVID-19. I looked all over in my are (Michigan) and couldn't find any. Located the bike I was looking for at South Mountain. I called, Heather put it on hold for me! I jumped in the car and made the drive to eastern PA. Once I got there Chad could not have been more welcoming! They had the bike I wanted ready for me to test. While testing I noticed the next bike in the Giant line. They let me ride that one as well. So glad I made the drive and bought the bike there. If you're close and you're looking for a GIANT or a LIV, this is the place! I'm already planning a return trip for my new fat tire bike! read more

My family's first experience wasn't that great with this place since my husband was basically ignored, but they redeemed themselves on our second visit. We were on the search for a men's XL road bike which would have to be ordered. The clerk measured my husband and indeed confirmed he needed an XL and then helped him look online in his system at the options my husband will have. I say 'will have' because there was no way he could get any 2018 models in XL anymore. We would have to wait until the new models come out. The clerk really helped my husband talk through his options and figure out exactly what he wanted/needed. Unfortunately, my husband needs a bike ASAP and couldn't wait to purchase and we found an XL in stock at another local shop. Here they weren't sure when the new ones would be out. Came in today for a simple iced coffee. It ended up costing almost $6 for a small which is ridiculous. The coffee itself tasted very bland and had no flavor at all. It tasted stale and smelled like it was a month old. The cashier was rude and short with me as I asked questions (it was my first time at this shop) and the other workers appeared uninterested in my experience as a customer. The worst part was that when I got home, the coffee made my stomach very upset and I felt sick for the remainder of the day. Would not recommend to anyone, this coffee shop is the worst I have seen in many years. read more

Worth the drive... I live in the next town over from this combo coffee/bike shop, but make we make the drive on a regular basis. Not only can you get a great a hot/iced breve, latte, mocha, you can satisfy all your bicycling needs from some friendly knowledgable bike mechanics. The new owners, Heather & Chad, have done a fantastic job mentoring Josh, a local high school student, to speak with new customers about the new location of their shop. I'm in T-town for masters track cycling nationals. I'm in love with the countryside here. It's simply lovely. The old buildings and little towns are very charming. The drawback to all of this bucolic and historic goodness? It's impossible to find decent coffee! It's all the over roasted, ashy tasting stuff that Starbucks has popularized. So I did a search and found this place. I thought "bikes and coffee! I've found my people!" So I hopped in the rental car and drove over. I was greeted by a very nice and friendly staffer. The setting is gorgeous and the store is really nice. The coffee however tastes like an ash tray, just like everywhere else around here. The valley could really use a good third wave coffee shop! Great concept, but not in the league of "The Angry Catfish" in Minneapolis or "Velocult" in Portland. read more

I rarely write reviews, but felt the need to after the very fine experience we had at South Mountain Cycle. Jorge, Scott (& crew) provided superior expertise, patience, and thoughtfulness (and some laughs) on the way to an educating satisfying purchase experience, and this with a beautiful but headstrong daughter as the end user. We drove in from NYC and it was more than worth the trip....Great shop and selection of bikes and accessories, very nice people, and coffee too...what more can you ask for? Such a great shop very friendly, great service and fast. went in with zero confidence in a used bike i bought and they checked it out, did a quick adjustment on front derailleur and had me on my way enjoying the bike in under 30 mins. I am an experienced road cyclist and bike mechanic. Sometimes I run across a mechanical issue that I can't figure out-this is rare because I research on the internet and can usually figure things out. I had one of those moments where I could not figure out a Cannondale crank set-up and went to South Mountain Cycles. I am not one who usually goes to Local Bike Shops (LBS) because I usually leave frustrated and almost angry because: 1. the staff is usually inept and answers with "Gee...I don't know dude" 2.Prices are abnormally HIGH and they NEVER have what I need in stock "we can order that, dude...thanks but so can I on the internet and get it faster ( and for less money)" 3. The "usual" bike shop attitude of making the customer feel as if he/she is LUCKY to have these knowledgeable bike shops guys here...almost as if they should charge admission at the door. So, I avoid LBS at ALL COSTS! NO SO with SOUTH MOUNTAIN! The exact opposite! The person I spoke with was full of knowledge and was able to direct me to the answer I neded. No pushing to sell, NO ATTITUDE...South Mountain has a full stock of merchandise at FAIR reasonable prices. Plus, they got a GREAT coffee bar to boot! Every cyclist needs that caffeine fix on a hard ride. I was blown away by the excellent service and friendly atmosphere. Did I say "BLOWN AWAY?" I mean it! I am definitely going back for all my cycle needs. I would even buy a high end road bike friom them that I don't need just because I was so impressed with the shop. I am a healthcare professional who does not have a lot of time to put up with nonsense and I don't get that here! I'll be back. read more

This place is fantastic. I love going to work there as its so relaxing and the coffee is great. I also love that they sometimes have their dog there with them and that you're allowed to bring your own in. Free refills on coffee if you stay in the shop! My husband called the owner, Heather, the Thursday before Mothers Day to order the bike. She was able to get the bike in the shop and set up for delivery on Saturday making my Mothers Day the best. This place is a gem located in the heart of Emmaus. They have a bike for everyone. My wife was very concerned about getting into a bike that fit her height. Mark worked patiently with us and got us the perfect bike for her size. We also enjoyed delicious coffee while he pulled from their inventory. This is a great shop their Coffee beats the pants off of starbucks with taste and price. People who own it a very friendly and a joy to talk to.
