This shop has great bikes and accessories. However, my last experience there left a bad impression and I will not be back. The girl working that day was helpful at first but became very condescending the moment I asked her a question. She spoke to me and my girlfriend like we were children, just because I dared ask her to explain something. While mountain biking may not be my sole purpose in life (it certainly seemed like it was to her), I can guide my patronage to more helpful bike businesses in town. read more

I got the Explore E+2 GTS (v.2021) back in February of this year but didn't have a chance to ride it until this past weekend. So far, I've put 24 miles and can't wait to ride more. I had a traditional hybrid that I purchased back in 2012 but had difficulty riding it due to health concerns and couldn't keep up with my wife. Fast forward almost 10 years and now I got an Ebike which now allows me to enjoy riding a lot more. I feel I made a great choice with this bike thanks to knowledge and friendly staff at Saucon Valley Bikes. Steve was there to answer all of my concerns in person and via email as well as the rest of the team working there. After many years of not riding a bike, I decided to mount a bike, chaffe my butt and put in some serious saddle time. I figured it was also great exercise. I was unsure where to go to buy a bike and a friend suggested I go to Saucon valley Bikes. My initial feelings were good about the place. Steve, the owner, waited on me initially then handed me off to a cocky ego-centric know-it-all who really didn't care much if I bought a bike or not. He was more concerened with his friends who were "hanging out" in the store. When talking to him directly, I asked a question-it was obvious he was not paying attention because he was looking away and then faced me and said "what?" I like salespeple to at least pretend they are paying attention to me. I bought a bike, accessories, clothing, shoes. Camelback and pedals. I spent quite a bit of money and still I got the arrogant attitude of the salesperson. I got the bike home and went for a ride. Upon returning home, I lifted the bike up my steps and the rear wheel fell off. I thought these things were to be checked before the bike left the store? What would have happened had I been on the road and the wheel came off? A week went by and I noticed the front chain ring was warped. I went back to the same salesperson and got a cocky "it's supposed to be that way" answer. Certain I knew that it isn't supposed to be that way, I wrote a letter to Giant Bicycle Corp. and THIS was the only way the situation was resolved-the chainring wasn't supposed to be bent-it was replaced. Since then, I have bought several road bikes in the multiple thousands of dollar range and Saucon valley Bikes missed on all those sales and accompanying accessory sales. I don't recommend them nor will I patronize this business and I don't think I had a more serious case of buyers' remorse than I did at this establishment. read more

Small, locally owned bike shop. My wife and I bought bikes here (both from Giant) and we were pleased by the service for us novice cyclists. We got good recommendations on what bike's to buy, a fair price, and a special order to boot. Our bike's were assembled, with purchased accessories, by the staff prior to pick-up. Selection ranges from kid bike's to commuters/cruisers, as well as top-end racing and mountain bikes. You will get a good bike here, not some mediocre low-end product off the rack at Walmart or Target. I cannot speak more highly of the staff. A well-informed and friendly staff is well worth the service premium. Sure, you could buy online. But these guys are bike experts who will help you select the right bike, and offer the range of services to keep your bike in top shape. Money well spent in my book. read more

We used Saucon Valley Bikes to maintain our "cheap" department store bikes and were always happy with the service we received. We thought the place was so helpful that we decided to upgrade our kids to better quality bikes. The knowledge that the staff shared and the time they spent to make sure my kids were getting the bikes that best suited their needs and size was great. The kids are so happy with their new bikes they want to go on the rail trail all of the time. Getting a quality bike was so worth it. The relationship started with a gift card I was given. Because the Lehigh Valley has a number of quality bike shops, finding one that not only would order darn near anything I wanted AND get it quickly was a delightful surprise. When I couldn't get things tweaked just right, Joel stepped up to the plate immediately and got me up and running with what seemed like magical speed! When a front derailleur broke unexpectedly, it didn't matter that it was 10 minutes before closing....they called SRAM and ordered a replacement one level up and had it there the next day. On a mini bike tour of eastern PA, I spent a day and a half in Bethlehem/Hellertown. I stopped in here to ask if they knew of a good bike route to Perkiomenville (23 miles southwest) where there's a trail that goes to Philly. I was just hoping they would mention a road or two, but Steve spent a good 10 mins editing a map on the computer, printing it out, and revising it for me with some notes, like the fact that more of the Saucon Rail Trail is actually finished than what the online maps show. Looking around, the shop has a solid selection of new bikes, and a particularly large selection of helmets, gloves, and other practical accessories. Their downstairs repair shop looked well-stocked and nicely kept. (I was a volunteer bike mechanic at the local bike co-op here for many years, and have a pretty good eye for these things.) It says a lot about a bike shop that they're willing to help out someone passing through town. (I stopped in one other shop the previous afternoon, and oddly enough, they didn't even seem to know much about biking around Lehigh valley!) These guys are legit. I can't say enough great things about this shop. Visiting is one of the highlights of coming back to the Valley. I wish we had a shop this good where I currently live. I'm on my second bike purchase through SVB separated by a few years and the experiences could not have been better. During my first purchase the shop associate took a lot of time to help me find the right bike, walk me through the technical details and get the suspension etc setup correctly, that same level of care was replicated this past week with Steve. You can't find the type of in stock inventory SVB offers easily, it's like walking into a candy store. I'll definitely be back for future service, gear and bike purchases.
