I bought my first real [expensive] bike from Bikeworks almost 3 years ago now. Although the…read moreselection is not as big as some bike stores, they have a great variety of quality brands: Bianchi, Trek, Fuji, Seven, just to name a few. You can't go wrong with any of them. Bikeworks has all types of bikes as well; anything from cruisers to tri, mountain to road....and for nutcases like me, cyclocross. Also, know that their website doesn't list all of the bikes that they sell, so don't be discouraged if you aren't enamored with what you see there. The best part is that when you decide to buy a bike from Bikeworks they put you on their fitting machine for free. It is used to figure out what size frame to get and all the settings for the handlebars and seat, so you're riding comfy straight out the door. Add in free annual maintenance when you buy a bike here and it's a hell of a deal. Their maintenance guys are top-notch. Though not always the case, I've had one-day turn arounds for a complete tune up before. The several times I've had my ride in for fixing, it always feels super fresh and crisp coming out of the shop here. They do have a lot of accessories, which they seem to try and sell rather aggressively. Seriously, dude, I don't need a $170 helmet and $55 gloves--I'd rather spend that money on whiskey, thanks. This is my only beef with Bikeworks. I guess the margins are high for accessories. I always get a chuckle out of the bike-nut groupies with all their bags, computers, clothing, lights, and whatever other kind of excessive junk they can attach to their bike; inevitably these jokers are slow as molasses. But if you hold steady and resist the temptation for the carbon-fiber shoes, ultra-tech padded shorts, and super-GPS-computer, you'll do fine.

Avoid this Terrible place at all costs!…read more I take my bike in for its' "free" lifetime annual tune up with an intermittent problem with the front brake in June 2020 and just got it back today. At that point they told me it was probably a sticking caliper and they would clean it up. I receive a call about a week later that my brakes "are leaking like a sieve" (they are hydraulic) and needed a complete brake system replacement that would cost in excess of $350. They stated that parts were in stock and would be done in a week. A few weeks go by and I call and come to find out that the brakes weren't in stock and are on back order. Today in late September 2020 I receive a call that my bike is ready. I come to find out that they admit to having someone work on it that didn't know what he was doing. This person probably left some sort of solvent that marred the brake handles and took off the paint and let it sit for over 3 months for parts to come in. The brakes just needed cleaning and there were no leaks. They cleaned the brakes and 3 people including the owner, Bill test rode it. They all were very sorry that this happened. So instead of me making a big fuss about the damage they had done, I accept it and was just about to leave and was told that I owed them $20 per wheel for the cleaning. Really???? I know if I owned that business I would have delivered the bike to my house with a huge apology for their gross incompetence! Instead, they chose to nickel and dime me and meanwhile I lost a complete summer of riding my bike. This was not my first bad experience with them either but I felt the need to warn the general public of what to be prepared for when you walk into this place. Never Again!

This store says they'll service any bike but I found out that was not true after I went through some trouble to bring it in after being told I could only to be treated like I did something wrong with a very bad attitude from the manager there named Jeff when i got there. I was really surprised to be treated that way by him since I stopped in the store ahead of time and clearly explained the kind of ebike I had and the repair needed just to make sure it was okay and was told it was by him. I just needed a crank arm replaced and Jeff told me they would do that no problem... until I got there. The mechanics there were very nice and helpful! They loved my ebike and were eager to help me but Jeff was not having it citing "liability reasons" because my bike is "too fast". What a strange excuse considering the crank on this ebike is not connected to the motor in any way which was clearly explained and even demonstrated in front of him. The bike is over 200 lbs so it cannot ever be pedaled as fast as a regular bike making the "too fast" excuse a really bad one. Jeff wouldn't even wait for me to put my riding gear back on before he was wheeling my ebike out of the store. My wife who followed me over and was waiting in the car asked me "what was that guy's problem?" Just from the wry look on his face as he wheeled my bike out. What a complete waste of time! After calling The Velo Shop and Perkiomen Bicycles they were both willing to help with no surprises so it was just bad luck bringing my ebike to a bad place.

Afterwards when I rode my bike I felt at times a very slight sensation that bike wanted to change gears. I called Pedaller's Bike Shop where I had bike serviced and Brett told me to bring it back and promptly made the necessary adjustment to it. Good old prompt and efficient service . And did not charge for the adjustment.

Today I was just starting out on my first mountain biking ride of the season and unfortunately…read morediscovered that I had a flat tire. Eager to find a way to continue my ride I searched on-line for the closest bike shop which happened to be Circle Cycle not too far away. I hadn't heard about this shop before because I haven't been riding to frequently over the last couple of years. When I got there, I was instantly greeted by the shop's the shop's two owners who were extremely polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. They graciously supplied me with a new tube and even offered the tools needed so I could fix my tire quickly because I was in a rush to get back on those trails! I enjoyed having knowledgeable conversation about the history of their shop, upcoming events and races in the surrounding areas, and an outline of their shop's setup. While there, I took notice of their bike's they had for sale which offers a wide range from startup, mid-range, and even the elite high-end. Their parts, equipment, and supplies covered everything a beginner, novice, and expert's would need. I highly recommend all bike enthusiasts to check this shop out as soon as you can. Definitely not a great experience...brought my E-bike rear wheel to be trued/tensioned, as I broke…read morea few spokes after hitting a massive Philly pothole, and this guy proceeded to rip spokes off of my wheel and said it was unfixable. He said it would cost over $180-$200 to fix it, and that I was better off just getting a whole new motor and wheel. Instead, I brought it to my trusted bike shop that I used to live near, and those guys took great care of it, explaining that the 3 broken spokes had to be replaced, but that re-tensioning the wheel would actually take care of the other loose spokes. And it all cost under $50! Definitely stay away from this place!
