After taking a close look, the team explained that the bike had not been assembled properly originally and that completely disassembling and rebuilding it likely wouldn't be worth the cost. Instead of simply sending us away, the staff at Sourland Cycles went above and beyond. They made all the necessary adjustments right there while I waited, got the bike riding safely again, and then told me not to worry about the cost. Service, care, and genuine kindness can be hard to find these days, but the team at Sourland Cycles demonstrated all three. Their honesty, generosity, and willingness to help left a lasting impression on me. I wanted to send a note regarding my recent experience with your service department…read more I brought my bicycle in for repair and was quoted approximately $220 plus tax to repair the shifter and chain, along with the recommendation that the handlebar tape be replaced. When I asked about the timing, I was told there were 12 bicycles ahead of mine and that it would take 10 days before the work could be completed. I was also informed that if I paid an additional $100, my bicycle could be moved up the service queue and completed sooner. This would have brought my total cost to roughly $350. Instead, I took my bicycle to a bike shop in Hamilton, where the repair was completed promptly for $50. I appreciate that this experience helped me explore other options and ultimately save approximately $300. Unfortunately, after being a customer since your days in South Brunswick, I have decided that I will no longer be shopping at your store or using your service department. I am sharing my experience so that others can make informed decisions when choosing where to have their bicycles serviced.

Not only did I walk out with a bike I loved, but I also had the best experience at Firehouse Cycles. Buying a bike can be a huge investment, regardless of if you're getting your first bike to ride around town or looking for a top of the line race bike. So whatever your price point, you want someone who will be sensible, thoughtful, and helpful. And as with any purchase, you want to leave feeling excited, confident, and assured about your new item and the service you received. That's exactly what you'll get at Firehouse Cycles - the perfect shopping experience. I called ahead asking if they had the bike, color, and size I needed. Mike, the owner, offered to hold the bike for me for several days until I could make it out there. Mike was extremely well-informed, patient, and welcoming. I learned a lot about my new bike in the process, and felt comfortable to ask any and all questions. Within thirty minutes, my bike was ready to go fitted with all the accessories I had requested. Plus he picked water bottles and a helmet to match my new bike. This was also a great place to test ride a new bike: they have a large parking lot and quiet neighborhood around back. He offered to drive the bike to our house even though we live 40 minutes away! As you can see in other reviews, this is the norm. When I let him know this bike would be coming with me back to Cleveland, he said to never hesitate reaching out if I ever needed help with my bike. Mike also helped us pick out two bike racks for two separate cars, and even took the time to teach us how to set it up and secure our new bike. I left the shop with a huge smile on my face. I ordered a Basher 16 Pink Power bike from Burlington County Bike Shop and was very disappointed…read morewith the condition it arrived in and the lack of follow-up afterward. The bike was shipped in a box that was not the manufacturer's original box and there was very little protection or padding inside. The box arrived with multiple holes and significant damage. There was also a note/instruction on the packaging indicating that it should be delivered even if the box was damaged. Unfortunately, the damage was not limited to the packaging. The bike itself had numerous scratches and gouges, including several areas where the paint was completely scraped away and the bare metal was exposed. This was not the condition I expected for a bike that I purchased as new. The pedals that are supposed to be included with this bike were also completely missing from the shipment. I called the shop twice after receiving the bike. The first time I explained the situation and was told someone would call me back. I did not receive a call. I called again and was once again told that someone would call me back. No one ever did. I understand that damage can occasionally happen during shipping, but the way the bike was packed, the amount of damage it arrived with, the missing pedals, and then receiving no follow-up after two phone calls made this a very frustrating experience. I would not purchase a bike for shipment from this shop again. This bike was supposed to be for my daughter's 4th birthday. I was so excited for her, but we never end up giving it to her due to how damaged it was, and the fact that the pedals were missing. I wanted to support a small bike shop, and having grown up in New Jersey, I thought, even better I get to support one from the state where I grew up. I'm so disappointed by this whole experience.
