I took a piece to be framed at Michaels with an estimated finish of two weeks. A call was promised…read morewhen the work was ready. No call came, so I went in person about two weeks after the scheduled completion date. The worker could not find my piece (payment was completed at time of order.) She called her manager, and I was promised a call on Monday, as this was a Saturday. In the meantime, she searched one more time and found the piece. The frame was completed but the work had not been mounted and was laying in the bottom of the frame. Left it to be fixed and waited for the promised call on Monday - never came. When I tried to call the store twice later in the day, the phone system kept hanging up on me. I went back on Tuesday and the piece was still not fixed. The manager was there and was able to fix it while I waited. Refund for all this trouble? $11 store credit! Apparently Michael's policy is 10% regardless of the circumstances. I do not plan to use Michaels again and would suggest anyone with a framing project to support a local business.

I made a large purchase at Michaels at Christiana Mall yesterday. I was shocked to find they no…read morelonger offer any bags. I said to the service rep at the register, " are you kidding me"?! I realize that this is a company choice but I was still dismayed. Miranda, the "customer experience manager " was there and quickly defended the store. She said, everyone has changed to this now" . She went on to say that Walmart doesn't offer bags anymore. I have two things to say to this, I'm not at Walmart, and I don't shop Walmart. One reason is that I expect better service from other retailers. i don't expect the customer service to be so rude at Michaels but if you strive to be Walmart, keep up the lack of service and promoting incredibly rude people to manage customer service. She didn't stop muttering about how I could expect bags until I left. I would like to add that the young woman at the register was perfectly helpful and did not argue with me. She just offered the bags to purchase. Maybe she should be the customer see manager. I will gladly take my business elsewhere if this is what I have to expect.

So I hunted for art supplies in Philly on a whim, and there was a sibling! And wandering around on Yelp, I've found yet another! This A&C S is the smallest of the three that I have been so lucky to visit. There is something to be said for a downstairs space to rummage and roam for treasure. While this one is one floor, it is still a worthy member of the clan. I tried to go for just one or two items, but ended up with a slew of pens and pencils. My only regret was the fact that my carry on was the limit, not the items in the store. The staff were a great balance of attentive and laissez-faire. I like being able to enjoy looking at things and touching things without feeling weird or feeling as though sales folks are going to vulture me. I felt welcomed and a part of the store, but not smothered. Also the staff was friendly with each other but did not ignore a single customer in their reach. I liked that balance.
