We were excited to find this great framing company after our previous framer in North East retired…read more This is a local company, a husband and wife team who work out of their home, and they are very responsive to your requests and inquiries. We brought them three older maps that needed some work to fit in frames. Brandi helped us choose the right frames, offered great options for backing colors, and coached us on the best options for having the maps fit the frames. They quoted us a very reasonable price and provided us their best estimate for completing the work (incidentally, they finished the work ahead of schedule!). When the finished frames were ready for pick-up, Brandi even offered us the option of dropping it off at our home (note: we live in North East city limits). We are very happy with the finished frames and intend to bring future business to the Niles. They are great framers, very customer-focused, and very professional.

I realize that this is a company choice but I was still dismayed. Miranda, the "customer experience manager " was there and quickly defended the store. She said, everyone has changed to this now" . She went on to say that Walmart doesn't offer bags anymore. I have two things to say to this, I'm not at Walmart, and I don't shop Walmart. One reason is that I expect better service from other retailers. i don't expect the customer service to be so rude at Michaels but if you strive to be Walmart, keep up the lack of service and promoting incredibly rude people to manage customer service. She didn't stop muttering about how I could expect bags until I left. I would like to add that the young woman at the register was perfectly helpful and did not argue with me. She just offered the bags to purchase. Maybe she should be the customer see manager. I will gladly take my business elsewhere if this is what I have to expect.

No call came, so I went in person about two weeks after the scheduled completion date. The worker could not find my piece (payment was completed at time of order.) She called her manager, and I was promised a call on Monday, as this was a Saturday. In the meantime, she searched one more time and found the piece. The frame was completed but the work had not been mounted and was laying in the bottom of the frame. Left it to be fixed and waited for the promised call on Monday - never came. When I tried to call the store twice later in the day, the phone system kept hanging up on me. I went back on Tuesday and the piece was still not fixed. The manager was there and was able to fix it while I waited. Refund for all this trouble? $11 store credit! Apparently Michael's policy is 10% regardless of the circumstances. I do not plan to use Michaels again and would suggest anyone with a framing project to support a local business.

I have been patronizing this store for decades, from time to time. I never had a bad experience in…read morethe past, but perhaps the place is under new management, because I didn't see the older gentlemen I used to deal with. One of their employees took a digital passport photo for me that seemed OK when she showed me a preview on her camera, but when I received the file later that evening (this was on a Friday) there were things I didn't like about it, notably that I was badly positioned and appeared to be looking up at the camera instead of straight at it (it was also very unflattering!) I quickly emailed back that I would appreciate a re-take, and the message I received back said, I quote, "You can come in to have as many as you want taken - anytime." I thought, that's nice of them (but normal, since it's just a digital photo that I already paid $15 for). However, when I went back for a retake, the owner (or manager) was rude and defensive and refused to take it again. He said things like "Haven't you ever seen a passport picture?" and said of course I could have as many pictures taken as I wanted, but I'd have to pay. Reading through the reviews, I see that some other folks had a similar experience at this store (rude employee--the guy I dealt with sounds like "Mike," mentioned in James M's review--and bad passport pictures). I wasted my money and had an unpleasant exchange with the owner/manager to boot (he told me he didn't care if I never came back). You are better off going down the street to Cameras Etc.; they have better customer relations and they charge less for passport photos.
