I have been patronizing this store for decades, from time to time. I never had a bad experience in the past, but perhaps the place is under new management, because I didn't see the older gentlemen I used to deal with. One of their employees took a digital passport photo for me that seemed OK when she showed me a preview on her camera, but when I received the file later that evening (this was on a Friday) there were things I didn't like about it, notably that I was badly positioned and appeared to be looking up at the camera instead of straight at it (it was also very unflattering!) I quickly emailed back that I would appreciate a re-take, and the message I received back said, I quote, "You can come in to have as many as you want taken - anytime." I thought, that's nice of them (but normal, since it's just a digital photo that I already paid $15 for). However, when I went back for a retake, the owner (or manager) was rude and defensive and refused to take it again. He said things like "Haven't you ever seen a passport picture?" and said of course I could have as many pictures taken as I wanted, but I'd have to pay. Reading through the reviews, I see that some other folks had a similar experience at this store (rude employee--the guy I dealt with sounds like "Mike," mentioned in James M's review--and bad passport pictures). I wasted my money and had an unpleasant exchange with the owner/manager to boot (he told me he didn't care if I never came back). You are better off going down the street to Cameras Etc.; they have better customer relations and they charge less for passport photos. read more

Great service, good film development in B&w or color and the best scans you're going to get in the tri-state area. Mike and his dad are photographers too and halve a wealth of knowledge to share and always helpful with questions, camera repairs or when looking to purchase something vintage. Went in because I wanted to support a small business instead just going to the Walgreens to get my passport photos. Although I've walked by many times, I have never went inside. It's a small place but it kind of takes you back to when we all used to get photos developed (am I showing my age yet?). Anyway, the owner was there and took my photos and had them printed instantly. I was in and out in like 10 minutes tops. Very friendly man and welcoming. I recommend anyone get their passport or other photo printings done here! read more

I visited this store because of the positive reviews and because I love supporting local small businesses. I dropped off a veteran photo of my father in law to be colorized and made into a 4x6 to surprise my husband and place in a frame with his flag and various medals. I dropped off the photo on a Thursday and was told that it should be ready by the following Mon/Tuesday at the latest. Today is Friday- a little over a week from when I dropped off the photo. I just returned from the store to pick up the finished photo and it hadn't even been touched yet. The older gentlemen that was there was apologetic, but unfortunately I asked for my photo back because that's just not good business. I would have appreciated a call to inform it was not ready. Rude. Guy behind the counter "Mike" could not have cared less about my camera equipment or how it was handle. He dropped my Minolta XG-1 right in front of me. When I made a comment about the cost and dropping it may cause more problems, his reply was to give it right back to me and says "take it somewhere else" then he walked away. Do NOT get your film developed here. I've been shooting film for around four years and I've had a lot of experiences with different camera shops and this was by far the worst. I would rather get my film developed at walgreens and that is saying something. From what I could tell with my numerous calls to the store, the owner has no clue what is going on in the shop and the people he hired to run the store are inept. The reason I called so often was because my film took twice the amount of time they promised, and the owner had no answers for me. Additionally, I was assured I would be given digital scans along with the prints and developed rolls at a price that was competitive with my experience in film and other shops in the area, but upon picking up the film there were no digital scans. I called the shop and they told me I was only charged for the prints and development, essentially scamming me to my face with no apology. Never going back here again, and I would suggest anyone with half a brain to avoid this place. read more

This photoshop is a scam! We went to purchase passport photos before going all the way to Washington DC to renew our passports with photos from this shop. The people at the embassy would not accept the photos so we had to find another photographer in DC to redo them! When we showed the pictures from Newark Camera to the photographer in DC he told us our pictures were not even close to being "biometric" which is what is required for passport photos. The photographer continued saying we should definitely be refunded. Okay this was all just an inconvenience, however when we came back to Newark Camera and spoke with the shop owner he was completely unwilling to accept that the photos he took were incorrect. He told us the people at the embassy don't know what they are doing and went on to say in America these pictures are fine. Clearly they are not fine... So we are left with useless photos and were not refunded. One star for an arrogant shop owner and bogus passport photos! read more
